I'v got Cingular 8525 unlocked from USA. I connected it to Orange in Israel.
Device shows that he connected to UMTS (U) and calls are ok but I am unable to conect to Internet or send mail SMS and MMS. What should I do?
Is that related to ROM version

call your telco service department and ask them for the operator settings. you will have to configure your device network settings for MMS, internet access etc.

I too use my TyTN on Orange in Israel.
Go to [Start] [Settings] [Connections]
Click on add a new modem connection in MY ISP
Name it something like "Orange"
chooseCellular Line (GPRS, 3G) under select a modem.
click next
under acces point name type "internet" with no quotes.
leave user name password etc. blank
click on finish
i dont know if this is necessary, but mine is set up this way.
Go to [Start] [Settings] [Connections]
click on advanced tab
click on select networks
i choose My ISP under both boxes
click ok.
I think for sms you go to
cGo to [Start] [Settings]
click on phone
highlight voicemail and text messages click on get settings and it will automatically configure from the orane network.

What is amazing to me is that I uses a Moto Q on Verizon EVDO in the states and the TyTN on Orange Israel is faster and more stable in terms of holding the internet connection. I am trying to cancel my verizon plan so i can use the TyTN in the states on Cingular as well.

Most operators require independent activation of voice/SMS/data services while Roaming abroad.

SMS by themselves use to be activated by default, since most providers do not charge for "incoming" SMS while Roaming.

Data is a more complex issue, since this may require adjusting settings.

Hope it helps.
