German Keyboard on HELMI 3.5

I have a T-Mobile MDA Pro with HELMI 3.5. Since my device is a german one the keyboard is german too. How can I reactivate the german keyboard layout ?

1. for the german keyboard on english ROM
2. get a registry editor (like Resco)
3. search the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]
4. edit - Layout in decimal to 66567 (from 66569)
5. softreset

This is not from my head. I found it in this forum. Try to find how the "search" button works :-)

thank you, I applied the registry change as you described and I now have a qwertz keyboard as desired HOWEVER when I type "a" followed by "sym" I get "à" instead I should get "ä" , that's the way it was with the original ROM. right now I havt to hit "sym" 4 times to get the "ä". but in german language "ä" is always the first choice ...

About searching: I found the search functionality in here somewhat suboptimal, when I search for keywords the result is a list of threads that contain the keywords but not the actual posts. for long threads (often with more than 10 pages) it is hard to find the actual place
