hi - as many of you will know the xda experiance can be an all consuming task :).

i after reading many many posts would like some information on how exactly to get the mtty tool to offer me the option of usb so i can connect to my bricked xda exec.

my bootloader screen is severely distored in colour however i can get back and forth to the promt for "press x or 0 " to reset / exit. it seems this proble m is not unknown however i dont seem to be lucky when it comes to the mtty tool.

any help would be greatly appreciated : thanks in advance.

Did you disable Activesync on your PC first?
Find the (two) executables in taskmanager and end task.

True. And make sure you're not running Vista! (bricked my phone for a few days until I could fix that)

would you share HOW you sorted vista bricking your uni? i've had to send it for repairs because nothing i could do fixed it.

i tried updating the firmware to another of helmi's cooked roms. i've flashed the device many times and used all sorts of people's roms, and i think it was the time i switched to VISTA that bricked it.

how do i get usb in drop down in mtty tool ? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1090314#post1090314)

Strange, I never have a problem with the sd card or sim card in the phone

First make sure active sync is not running, you may have to kill the process wcescomm.exe (CTRL+ALT+DEL, Processes TAB, right click on process and End Process Tree)

If that doesn't work, change the usb cable, every time i encounter that problem - it is nearly always the usb cable, if you have a canon digital camera, those cable works for me about every time

No man... i've been tryin to get USB in dropdown list but never appears. I'm so tired of incomplete answers. I'm using vista and i kill every process indicated by you.

Did you or did you not post multiple threads on the same problem?

Try this instead of mtty.
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/nueTTY-Console-71189.shtml

Its a console that diables everything automatically.

It worked a treat for me. My phone was stuck in bootloader.... no ROM or SPL would flash (stuck at 0%) I couldn't get mtty to give me "USB" from the dropdown in Vista.

I can't get into the boot loader so it says "USB" in the bottom white area... even though USB cable is inserted, of course. If I boot up with device with USB cable inserted the only thing that happens is that the white area is blank. When unplugging the device "Serial" is written, but plugging the USB cable back in doesn't change a shit... stills says "Serial"...

Any clue, USB connector defective? Tried two cables.

nueTTYConsole says the following:
Disabling RAPI...Already Stopped!
Searching for CE USB devices to connect...
No devices found to connect, aborting...
Not restarting RAPI because it was already disabled.
