I unlocked my G4 with Lokwiz?

Well being the idiot that I am I didnt read into the Wizard much when i got mine (Tmobile-MDA) I have Cingular service. I wanted to use the phone and I Dl'ed Lokwiz ran it, it unlocked my phone with no problems, I am currently using it.

So did I just do a SIM unlock? Is there a way to tell if its still CID locked?

on my flash screen I get 2.26.0001 on both IPL and SPL.

I guess while I am at it, I am looking for a "non-branded" ROM that supports AD2P and that I can surf the web on Cingulars network, have MSN messenger

CID-unlocking is only possible through imei-check with a G4. Lokiwiz 0.3 only does a sim-unlock.

If you don't want to pay for CID-unlocking you can use a rom that works on a CID-locked device. There is a separate thread for this.

Don't mind me for asking it but I'm thinking of cid unlocking my mda vario, via the imeicheck site, but what is the benefit of doing so? And beside that, how can i check if my device is already cid unlocked? (before paying for it).

Well, some may go through the trouble to get a new ROM for their phone for various reason such as cooler customization or just getting rid of the customization on their phone. While, personally, I don't see much improvements on whatever ROM I used, hence I, myself tend not to use other ROM and install/remove the customizations myself.

Anyway, for CID unlock, I don't think there is an easy and safe way to do it. If you were to run some upgrade software (ROM flashing), it will fail. Some will fail with just a message, others will fail and brick your phone.

I have managed to unlock my G4 Cingular 8125 using Lockwiz 0.3 .

Hello , it great to know that I can unlocked the 8125-g4 (sim). I ma trying to change carriers. Wher can i get lockwiz 0.3, I wentto the ftp downloads i could not see it.

well I found the locwiz 0.3, ran it and in a few minutes i had my cingular 8125 sim unlocked.

I am not sure if is ok to said that lokiwiz 0.3 works for SIm unlocking, but the gurus should let the other know.
