I've decided that (within the next few weeks) I'll take the plunge and buy an email-capable phone and 'unlimited' internet connectivity. I had hoped to be getting a 3G device, but, sadly, I can't find anything suitable. Aside from 3G the Atermis looks good... and I'm hugely impressed with the idea that it has GPS (I'm always lost!) T-Mobile's "Web and Walk" seems an ideal price-plan for the way I intend to work.
The snag is that, especially with no 3G, I really had hoped for 802.11 connectivity - so, when at home or in my office, I can make use of existing broadband connections... allowing me to automatically synchronise the 2Gb microSD card - and to send/receive large emails quickly etc. I realise that 802.11 is not supported... however... I wondering about blue tooth... How easy is it to use blue tooth in place of 802.11 connectivity? Do I need to run any special software on the PC to enable me to do this? What is the best range I can expect to get from blue-tooth with this device? Would I likely be able to connect with Bluetooth in another room?
Assuming I can use the Compact III as a wireless PDA on a private network... is VOIP viable? What software/service would you recommend?
