View Full Version : Volume issues with nokia ck-7w car kit

I've used my trusty old XDA mini s with my nokia ck-7w hands free for months with no problems at all. Just "upgraded" to the orbit & love it, with one issue. The volume on the handsfree is poo. The clarity on the mini s was superb, almost too good. But unless I'm doing 10mph I can't be heard or hear anything.
Is there a tweak or something I'm missing to boost the volume?

I too have this problem! The speaker in the car is too quiet and no-one can hear me talking unless I put the mic on the Orbit to my mouth! The volume on the car kit is at maximum and turning it up or down appears to make no difference.
This car kit has been used with WM2005 devices including XDA Exec, Mio A701 and previously an XDAII (WM2003) without any problems at all !
Anyone any ideas? Registry hack? Bluetooth incompatibility? Bluetooth 2.0 version against older Nokia CK7-W Bluetooth version?
Cheers
Chris

I have the same problem too.
In the registry there are fields like "ck-7w" and "audiogain"
I am convinced we can overcome this problem with reg edits.
Speaking to O2 and they arent interested,typical.......
Lets keep this one live and hopefully some clever person can help us....
Same problem here.
I bought a new carkit (parrot). I will tell tomorrow if it's better because then i''m installing it :)

Un apologetic bounce. We need help on this.
Also I tried some reg changes, but they revert when doing a softstart...

CK-7W seems to work very well on my p800w - I have attached the reg entries from my registry that are listed under the HTC key. The only other registry entry is the pairing info which shouldn't affect anything (it is set to headset).
I have Mic auto-gain turned off in the control panel too (under microphone).
Compare this and see if it is different.

Well, hopefully I've started & closed this thread! After weeks of f**king about...
Delete your pairing with the ck-7w
With your fav reg editor (Total commander for me!)
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\ Delete the ck-7w folder completely
Soft reset
Pair your device with your ck-7w again
Hey presto... well, it worked for me!!!
After all that, I'm buying a new car anyway & will try one of the new Pioneer headunits with built in bluetooth.
Hope it works for you!

This fix worked 100% for me too. I think it worked the first time just fine as it hadn't loaded the registry settings, then after a reset it loaded them and the quality was awful. Deleting the registry entries now gives it excellent quality.

Just a follow on to this for others who may be searching i also had the same issues as above but it didn't totally resolve the problem as i also had an existing pairing with a motorola h500 - so i deleted it also (all pairings) did the registry delete bit - soft reset reinstalled CK-7 and haven't looked back :-)
