Hi everyone
I just wanted to know if someone has tried a prepaid sim on the mda and used the internet through EDGE. For some reason i get free internet and I just have $10 on my account with no charge to it. post if you get the same result. :D
Update: Was told about this Free WAP on T-Mobile! (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1012717)
But they talk about having free wap but its actually free gprs so you can use PIE, Opera for ppc,
Win media and listen to streams or anything that can use gprs (edge)
and also you can use modem link or internet sharing for your PC :D
Update 2: This will only work for US T-Mobile because of the updating to 3G of the network. So it may work for a limited time. < Refining EDGE
Update 3: Can also work on contract sim cards but i advise to use at own risk tmobile my start to charge you and it can get expensive if you do not have a data plan. I have been told that sometimes this may not work But will work on prepaid sim cards
Update 4: this will work on any phone but you need to have a different web browser like opera mini. It may also stop working but will work again if you disconnect and connect again right then or in a different time.
Settings to use: Cellular line (GPRS) and wap.voicestream.com

3G roll out is already in the air. when it comes to net working i go with hours spent under neath my old server room.

Plug this today if you are complianing this is a capped plan now what ever you do it doesn't matter. the compute will bill for what you have
Move this to the front so i don't have to deal with the hype
fact free net never went down
means no man down if no mms was being used or dialed in.
Fact i still cant get out on some phones i am cingular so t-mobile takes a bit longer for me
Plane straight t-zones $5.99 no mms cabs t-zones
216.155.165.50:8080 done
Plan t-zones online only catch 22 must change phone to a non pda.
I am OK with this move for one reason. the minute you make a call the system will flip your phone status back to the beautiful stock photo of what ever you have
If you don't understand me well guess what i don't look up when i type i do look up when i sign paychecks so just ask your friend moderator and this goes right into th45 move chart. 7 years and still cant typo as fast as i think
My theory is this i still am having problems with outh the cabs like im handi cap so that mens that the mms plays a role when you dial it in dont ask some else figure it out because our cabs work but i always change to 8080
the same source and my coaching argues with me on this stupid subject.
everyone here that has a opinion should also take into consideration that mathematics and reason does not make the world go round in the us its money homes and cars we will leave that discussion for one of my 100 seminars i power train at.
But 3g is already their but cingular never owned or should i say lease the heavier sites up top they bought the newbie national package. So the reason t mobile is not as deep is because cingular most likely resigned a separate deal that would not be part of a locked contract. So t mobile has to buy it on thier own.
But 3g only works in certain areas like blocks but when t hooks up it shakes financially t-mobile will wait until the market moves an inch the hype is not 3g for the 97 percent of the world only the fans. You will see more picture and video before speed is a priority.
hence the reason 2000 laptops are a nickel now. i see a ten quad coming why some body shooting the titanic nope i guarantee you some asshole in chicago saw that the glutens meaning the us will be picture crazy and share your picture and make your family trip a movie so they are making gaming look like a intermediate sport
good news better for the individual that wants a nuke for hardware cause last time i checked Intel core duo 2 were not $599. wait a month the good stuff will just get cheaper.
T-mobile could give to shits about anybody back dooring a connection. Half of the reason it limited is to cut down on support the sales guy has no affiliation with the web and has no idea that his company is like the airlines trying to eliminate human error and involvement so thats why all cell phone company's act like mac users when u walk in. Mention the website your done.
You guys 2 ways to go media $9.95 or t-zones flip the phone online to a non pda chief go ahead and tear this up copy paste what ever get to the front so we don't up set the ladies.
I hope today we can 3 issues Dr shaps VOIP your smash and grab t-mobile issue and my feeling of un-appreciation. I like the fact that i am a member its a good thing i love roman history and i take that as a compliment. I thought junior wood chuck suited me.
But what do i know
except xda is not to be disrespected and no matter this is a good place.
ah screw it why should i change my style somebody eklse spell scheck this i need to go to frys and buy the left side make sure we handle this voip that works fine issue.
I like that one
t-mobile will not wait much longer but i wa

I read somewhere on howardforums about a week or so ago about this. From what I saw posted, this is only temporary because T-Mobile is making some upgrades on their data network.
I guess for the time being it’s just easier for them to open the whole data network to everyone while making whatever changes/upgrades.
My guess would be its some kind of upgrade to the internet access authentication system, and since that authentication system is down during the upgrade, the smoothest way to continue data access for the time being is to just give it to everyone. Just a guess though =P

What settings are you using? I had it for a while on my unlocked cingular 8525 using t-mobile prepaid but I lost my settings when I hard resetted and everything I have tried so far hasn't worked. BTW do you have it working where u can use WIFI or GPRS without having to change your settings under connections everytime?

I have a T-mobile prepaid sim and I get free internet. I don't think its edge speed though because it does take a while for the web pages to load. I think its wap speed. If you are getting edge speeds without paying, I guess your lucky. No charge.

it goes faster if you use it on a computer but when using it on the phone it goes slower. i read somewhere that edge has 4 time slots and could go at higher speeds if all 4 time slots are connected but thats in good weather and nothing between the phone and the tower. i think its in wikipedia.com that i read this.

I just posted this in the networking area ... I too am getting FREE connectivity .. without a prepaid card.
I do not have a data plan, am on a regular family plan, and am located in Salt Lake City, UT. I am also out of contract.
I flashed my MDA to Faria's AKU 3.3 8mb ROM. Set my carrier to "T-Mobile WAP", and voila! I get free access.
I freaked the first time it started up, and was downloading data.. thinking I was going to get a big fat bill.
I called customer service, and long story short, they told me that if I could connect, I was lucky, because it is a fluke, and I would be shortly disconnected thereafter. I was also told that I would NOT be charged.
So ... there you have it. Free (for a limited time) data access on T-Mobile.

I think the representatives dont know about the upgrade until there almost finish upgrading. as i been seeing its been a long time, maybe since 2005 that people have reported this. It makes me think that they are updating all of the network. that will also means that they will be taking out 3g phones and i could finally use my htc tytn on tmobile for internet instead of cingular.

I am also wondering when it is going to end so I won't get charged for data usage

I spoke to an upper tech representative, and they told me that as of now, they had no plans for 3G connectivity. They are trying to "refind" the EDGE connectivity (so pointless in my opinion)
Can someone please post the step by step procedure for the free internet settings? I only see people enjoying their FREE interent and posting that it works, but i don't see the settings they are using :p

You only need to use the defualt gprs settings this only works because i think we use a different browser then the regular wap browser. If you try to use the winwap browser you see that their is no way to enter a different address and if you try it with a normal phone it will tell you that you do not have the data plan. Now if you used PIE, OPERA, NETFRONT, or any other browser even java browser (opera mini) you will be able to go in, and the same with regular phones but you need to find a way to load opera mini becouse you cant dowload it directly or send it through sms.(use IR, bluetooth, or memory card)

Hello,
I would appreciate any help or suggestions. I am running Nottoosmart's Vanilla wm6 on a t-mobile wizard. The OS has been working fine for some weeks and it is fast.
However there has been a big problem and I localized the source.. Voice quality is poor. After some experimentation I noted that the audio gain is way too high and there is often feedback between the ear output transducer and mike. The net result is clipping and feedback which makes the voice quality sound very poor to the other end.
When the phone volume is reduced to zero, it is better, but still a problem. The volume control seems to have relatively little effect compared with WM5. Also, clearly the mike is feeding back and not blanking much, if at all, which suggests that AGC (automatic gain control) is not working well. I don't know what parts of the above, if any, are directly responsible for the poor audio quality.
I am aware of the other radio roms which have been mentioned here (e.g. 2.69 etc.) and have not tried these. However it sounds as they make the RF signal detection more or less sensitive, rather than affecting the audio. So I am reluctant to start experimenting, since others have already done that.
I will have to go back to WM5 unless I can fix this problem. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm looking for a prepaid service to use in the USA for a few weeks and couldn't find anything official from any of the networks (which was good value).
It appears that this is a perfect solution, does anyone know when Tmobile will start up their billing systems? Also, if they do, will they be allowing prepaid customers access to the internet via the GPRS/EDGE services?
Thanks,

It works if you use the proxy 216.155.165.50 and then click advanced and change the HTTP port to 8080. At least it works if your paying for the $5.99 a month access. I'm not sure about if you're not paying anything for it though. I'm sure someone here that's not paying anything could try it out and let everyone know.

When you set up that proxy they will. The only one that I know of that wont work with it so far is MSN messenger. I have several programs that I update over the net that wouldn't connect any longer because of what T-Mobile did but after I added that proxy they started working again. I should warn you though that once you add the proxy they wont update over the net through activesync any longer unless you remove the proxy again. If anyone know how to fix that problem please let me know. I'd appreciate it.

try the new batterystatus, it has an option to disable proxy when wifi is on.

Thank's I didn't notice that BatteryStatus had that option. I figured out how to fix it anyway. I set my T-mobile data setting to use the proxy and then set up a work modem exactly the same way as the t-mobile data setting, just without the proxy. That way, all I have to do when I'm synced is change the settings from using t-mobile data to my work settings and everything works again.

The pre-paid sim getting free internet is not a secret how ever it requires a pre-paid sim for me that would not it's not that serous.
Just for kicks if you blast a cdma phone with moloskis tweak it surfs for free with no number assigned.
Bottom line is that the data access points can and will never be fully lock down. When i see no password and user name it is just a matter of finding your way out.
I keep explaining this to my colleagues, The billing cycles your carriers from pagers to cell phones are not cross referenced. Meaning if your provider was ass backwards or thier systems were off you could potentially have free service for life. I have seen it numerous times with pagers.
So lets get this straight I am saying that every carrier has a free way out. now charge is a big deal no matter what the data amount will register how ever if one were to use the web site instead of a human to change their plan to the cheapest form of a capped media plan ex: t mobile unliminted media it would not throw a flag. I have seen free data on pre-paid from indviduals who can finance a pack of skittles. So thats not new but some body has to have a new or should i say old way out.
Yes i said that every verizon pda i have dropped the moloski tweak in has surfed the net wide open no service no plan no number. So what activate it and you done. Reason i say it think of data as 911 its their find the way out and cap your carier's ability to charge u

after i used one of moloski's reg tweaks made for the wizzard for space and performance i really enjoyed the results. Networking being a general interest of mine i apply the upgrade to allow me t program and stay conected the carriers numbers. The statement is to show that the data is there verizon does not own all the ceel sites they do in cali but thats for voice. I just want to make it clear that its not about taking or stealing its abuout maximizing whats in the air.
The was a motorola q i dare bring it to the forum so i use my own ways.
Motorola Q from VOCE wireless
reseller of verizon
once i did a hard reset (settings control panel)
phone number default was 0000004537
non gsm gets all control from the nmber neing programed in the phone
so i just looked at the settings and banged on the explorer options until i could see a real website.
so were there is a way out for instance the ad for tmobile is unlimted for 599
i saw it today all you t0mobile neeed that
wich one was it forget but it wwas wizzard cab

I have a HTC Universal and TMobile To Go card. I don't know how to set it up though. :(
I did a little investigation and here is what TMobile's Site has on it:
================================================== =
Can I Use t-zones® with T-Mobile To Go?
Yes. t-zones will automatically be applied to any new T-Mobile To Go account. A t-zones enabled phone is required. To get t-zones today, call 611 from your T-Mobile phone.
t-zones allows you to:
Access account information.
Apply a coupon through the phone.

Access fun and games.
Access FAQs and information.

Thats what was the discovery for a genltemen in another forum how ever t-mobile rides att and exposes the no user name and password
wap.voicestream.com no user pass
wap.cingular WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM PASS CINGULAR1
wap.att WAP@ATT.COM ATT1
(NUMBER)@vzw3g.com pass vzw
i ahd q that was from VOCE wireless verizon reseller
i was bang on it waiting for someone at my office so forced to hard reset
it gave me this
(MID)@vzw3greseller.com pass word vzw
and all the proxy for the phone
well it was same shit so shot guned every carrier
wap.isp wap@ispgprs.com pass? isp1
this all old news when it was fun
but the interesting thing about the q it was last month i am not with verizon but the MID which the Phone number was 0000004537
And i was able to hook up problem ie sucks so i had customize it on the spot and then i could see www.apple.com at time i didnt care but i am a true fan of the old school and i put the phone to work and they are an essential when it comes to windows based mobile apps. Made the dead drawer of verizon and sprint look a whole lot nicer.
Now facts this shit only matters in the us but if i can look at it here then over seas an intelligent individual would know that their is a pattern and i only do things that are relevant to what im doing so i don't work in India and will not post how beat the carrier but this is what you need a asshole that can see between the lines with out trying.
i know the frenzy for beating the carrier is huge
