Are better phone deals for my Artemis?

Hi,


Just having been stung for a huge download charges from my phone provider, I want to plan to change my phone provider to another in about 12 months time.

Can anyone give me a simple guide to what the state of play is?
Advice and opinions welcome!

I notice threads asking about unlocking Artemis, I presume to allow another provider to be used.

I'm not sure whether other providers still require a monthly charge or whether a PAYG would become an option. I'm not sure about the viability of PAYG on other operators... can they still give Internet access for me?

i bought the Orbit from a O2 shop £35 a month (12 Mth Contract) which gives 400 mins per month and 100 txts both of which will carry over to the next month, in addition i have unlimited calls on SAT, SUN, and Monday. I intend to drop to the £20 option after 6 months. which means Iv'e paid £330 for the orbit over the Year and benifited from all the free calls.. I got the handset free.

I felt this way i am also covered against faults as i can just go to any O2 shop.

Finally, I had NOT noticed but TomTom was booting up at each soft reset. I turned it off but hadn't noticed that the GPRS was still live ... i.e. My bigger than expected bill from Copilot and Tom Tom

I had a look on the sd card and found the TomTom auto Autorun file called Start.exe in the root Dir of the card. I moved it into another folder and all is ok. TomTom only runs when I invoke it.
