Am I the only one taking it easy with this GPS-deal? I'm thinking like, if they get it to work for one type, it will eventually come out official roms for the other ones too... And if not, there are allways methods to create unofficial ways to activate the GPS once you know how the orginally is activated... :p That's why I bought a smartphone, it's like a PC; you can do allmost whatever you like with it as long as you know how :p
So, stop loosing your breath everytime someone posts a negative respond to the GPS... :p If it is implemented in the hardware, sooner or later it will be activated... officially or unoffically :)

Hi,
I've got a SPV M700 , a French Orange version.
Here are the figures :
Operator version: 19.117.2.737
ROM version : 1.17.73.7
ROM Date : 11/13/06
Radio version : 1.22.01.01
Model N° : TRIN100
SPL 1.06.0000
So I can't install the radio rom upgrade which enable the GPS.
What will be the best way to upgrade my device?
Thanks for your help.
Any feedback about upgraded devices?

So far there is no way to change the ROM on the Trinity unless it is one meant for your particular phone. It may take a while for the gurus to figure out a way to load other ROMs.

Got lots of software to install but can't, knowing that I'd have to wipe everything clear with a firmware update. So, really, I need HTC to fix the existing bugs in the current firmware, add GPS functionality, then I can start installing all my stuff and get on with my life!

It means it will not work if you attempt to do it, but i don't own a trinity and I don't know :)
Trinity 1.04.0000 bootloader has the same "bugs" and features as the Hermes 1.04 bootloader, so all I know is for Hermes... but should be similar in trinity....

To my understanding the only way to have a kind of a safe way not to lose your phone is to have an original ship rom. I bought 2 weeks ago from Taipei the CHT9100, hoping to change it to English. However I can do nothing without the original ship rom. I looked at the Dopod Taiwan web, registered myself and I can't find a "ship" rom for the CHT9100. the only one there is for the CHT9000. since I do not really read chinese perhaps you could assist to find a version of the original ship rom? a. this is not compatible with Hermes, don't try or it will brick your device
b. can't be flashed on other bootloader than 1.04, even if device is SuperCID because it is not an upgrade in NBH format but in NBF, and it is not signed
c. bootloader 1.04 for trinity is only found on pre-production devices
d. on ftp there's an HTC 1.15.405.4 rom which has bootloader 1.05.1000 MFG, all the others have 1.06 or 1.07... i don't know if it will work with this one, but this is very special bootloader (MFG == manufacturer editon bootloader)... so investigate yourselves.

Some news :) :
The gpschannel.dll file is the driver in charge of wrapping GPS request from the COM9 to the RIL interface on the COM6.
I've extract this file from the OS.nb but it seen to be in the "XIP" part of the system...
I also need informations about the default.hv file.
This file seem to contain the initial registry used when the device start after an hard reset....
I need this informations for analysing this block of data :
"G P S C h a n n e l 0 Ð D l l G P S C h a n n e l . D L L Ð P r e f i x C O M Ð I n d e x 0 Ð D e v i c e A r r a y I n d e x , Ð T s p U n i m o d e m . d l l Ð O r d e r $ Ð
D e v i c e T y p e < Ð F r i e n d l y N a m e G P S i n C O M 9 8 Ð D e v C o n f i g K < Ð { * "
IMHO,
This correspond to an entry of the Builtin driver section of the registry and i need to know if it's possible to reuse dll extracted from the OS.nb ...
pof
15th January 2007, 10:48 AM
You can copy files in XIP from live device using any file explorer.
For analysing the block of data... please post an hex dump, otherwise is not useful.
The dll you posted seems correct, it contains proprietary AT commands to control GPS: AT@startGPS & AT@stopGPS, also confirms GPS is on COM6.

This DLL seem to multiplex GPS command thru the RIL interface on COM6.

Another question,
how to copy files from a live device ???
When i try to copy files with resco explorer or total explorer i receive a permission deny ...
And IMHO,
XIP files cannot work on other devices since they have been staticly linked with the rest of the ROM...

Use TestWM5.exe (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=24725&d=1128913652), it should dump files and modules to SD card. If this solution doesn't work for you, then try to dump the rom with pdocread (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_HowtoDumpRom) and extract IMGFS contents (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_HowtoExtractImgfs) after.
XIP files cannot work on other devices since they have been staticly linked with the rest of the ROM...
AFAIK you only need to recreate .hv files (default and boot registry)... but I'm not expert in that area, you should better ask someone experienced in ROM cooking.

But know i have the registry entry for the GPChannel driver ->
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\GPSChannel]
"DevConfig"=hex:20,00,00,00,05,00,00,00,10,01,00,00,00,4B,00, 00,00,00,08,00,00,00,00,00,00
"FriendlyName"="GPS in COM9"
"DeviceType"=dword:0
"Order"=dword:3
"Tsp"="Unimodem.dll"
"DeviceArrayIndex"=dword:9
"Index"=dword:9
"Prefix"="COM"
"Dll"="GPSChannel.DLL"
I also have to load my certificate to the privileged trust store of my phone and to test again.
I have to convert my .cer file to an xml format and try to upload it with rapiconfig to my trinity :)

Hi pof.
The problem is not the file (is by now unuseful..), but only the forum himself, to read.
And this is complete offtopic...
It is exactly the same file that canope posted here... don't waste your bandwidth :)

I had purchased a D810 WWE in Hong Kong. Tried the GPS rom but without success. THe sales told me this was an unlocked phone. I guess what he meant was it was a SIM unlocked, but not a CID unlock.
Are any Pros coming out with the CID unclock yet (Freebie or Pay service)? The GSMliberty does not have it posted yet, so am I correct that a solution is still on the drawing board?

As far as I know, that is the story. HTC should release a new ROM at some point. Response letters from HTC have been posted stating that they will release a ROM upgrade with GPS enabled during the first quarter. If they are on track, that gives them another 5 weeks if they are on time.
chicosabroso
22nd January 2007, 12:18 PM
As you see momentanly all Roms that are coming out are Dopod Roms, i don't think that they'll make it in the First Quarter to release HTC GPS Enabled Roms!
And if they do it will be the English ROM!
So it would be so great if it could be hacked!

Interesting
Dopod told this web ( http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=224&t=268402&last=2225137 ) they will release the official new rom in Feb and kill this related thread. And the web already killed the related thread.
May be Dopod will release soon

This is what gets me. Why does Dopod (a distributor) get all the new ROMs before HTC (the manufacturer). Surely Dopod is getting the files from HTC.

What's weird is that HTC is a Taiwanese corporation yet they only distribute to the rest of the world as HTC and to their own area under their Dopod brand...
