hi I've had a look on the forum and I think the issue may be new - not discussed before. I seem to have some spare cash and wanted to buy a 8GB SDHC for my XDA Exec/Jasjar . However I haven't found any indication on the feasibility of this . anyone had any experiences positive or even negative ??
I'd be prepared to flash a different firmware to the device if that were to help matters.
thanks

I can confirm that SDHC doesn't appear to work (out of the box) in the Universal. It just doesn't recognise there's a card present at all.
I am still investigating formatting the device in a different way (as discussed in other postings on this site) but i'm not terribly hopeful.

well , I bought an 8gb a-data v2 sdhc and it currently does not work . thing is , none of my memory card readers read it either :(. I'll have to get a reader that sees it to be able to say it's "broken" or not .
thanks for your input - if anyone else has anything to add it'd be nice

Well, maybe it is a late answer, but I did buy a 4GB SDHC card, actually I didn't know it is SDHC till I arrived home!).
Anyways, it didn't work on my JasJar nor on my laptop. I solved the issue for the laptop by downloading a fix that will enable WinXP to read SDHC cards (the whole matter is software based by the way, hardware is the same).
As for JasJar, it only recognize the card if you go to the 'About' icon in 'Settings' it will tell you that the expansion slot is in use - other than that the card does not exist!
Anyone got any updates?
cheers ...

hello fahapro ,
since then I have upgraded the firmware on the xda exec to one of the latest winmobile 6 incarnations as they have released various patches for sdhc use.
have a look at the stickies here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=357
usually the first page of each firmware mentions sdhc compatibility.
currently using my 8GB sdhc I was talking about previously :)

I'm waiting for a definitive answer about the patches; and do they work with WM5. Some say they do; some they won't? And from what you described it's a software problem and not hardware issue which has already been discussed. So now I'm more confused than I was before LOL.

My 8gb transcend sdhc class 6 card is seen only as a 4gb with sdhc.cab in wm5.
In wm6 works fine.

Hi again,
Yesterday I found this article http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=339526&goto=newpost (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=339526&goto=newpost) it is about a newly released WM6 ROM, didn't try it yet, but, from the comments posted I guess it works with SDHC ...
As for WM5 I do not know of any patches for SDHC, I gave up WM5 long time ago :)

So then it might be worth it to buy the 8GIG and either wait for a specific patch for WM5 or just go ahead and upgrade to WM6.

I suggest that you go for WM6.
Unless u use Video Calling, everything is better with WM6 ...

You are right ! The cab file is from the ROM 8GB SDHC, because i dont have 16GB, so can't test on it. Only can write it support 8GB SDHC. :D

I found this cab which seems to be the best option so far: SDHC_DRIVERS_FOR_C550_AND_N560_BY_GreateVK_AND_Fre ePK.cab (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=83392&d=1209243092)
I installed this cab in addition to installing the Signed_Storage_Settings_App.cab (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=62312&d=1198016472).
Gave me 7674.50 MB...

Hi again,
In the thread for JW 2.12.08 WWE there are 2 cabs, one for 4 GB SDHC and the other works for 8GB SDHC.
However, I didn't test the 8GB cab, I only have 4GB SDHC.
But if the other cab worked for you then that's good :)
Enjoy the new ROM it has many nice features.:D
