Using TyTN on Rogers network in Canada. UMTS works great but kills the battery in about 6 hours with direct push turned on. Any help?
I cannot limit the device to GPRS only it is not one of the options in the phone options menu under band.

There is a Band Switch Hack here. Download it and Use it.
Actually there are a couple. Here is the one that works best for me:
With Today Plugin

That Hack did not install, it simply states installation was unsuccessful.
I found a solution here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283797&highlight=UMTS

Hi QLDComm,
when you say using Rogers ... with direct push, are you using the Rogers mymail push or push from some other server?
Thanks,
MM
