What I gather from my spotty mandarin, these guys managed to get their hands on an internal version of WM6 and have flashed it onto their devices.

Will read more and find out.

Managed to snag some photos by signing up at their forums...

Apparently its a chinese version of WM6 from Dopod...

This dude twinsdove mentions that WM6's speed is way better than WM5's...

It makes them sound really communistic. Haha.

Still, having a knowledge of mandarin as a second language helps a lot. :)

It'd be really nice to see WM6 on our BA's!!

Will we be seeing a release of the base OS so people will be able to create their own froms from this? (Sorry, but google is playing up and I don't have enough time to use babelfish and read everything in that thread).

Best of luck Winyong!

Nice to see more enthusiasts, but it is almost impossible to make crossbow works fine on blueangel (remember Motorola MPX200 and WM5) it will be something like this, but (there is always but) you will all have problems with porting crossbow core

The original thread does not exist anymore, I have no idea it was deleted by the poster or the Admin. of the site. Here is the new Link. You can download
18 rar files from it.

P.S. The Rom is for Wizard, Not BA.

@lukecheng - I can't seem to find those 18 rars. Could you upload them to the FTP?

http://msmobiles.com/news.php/5951.html

According to the *highly* ;-) reliable news source that is msmobiles.com, a universal rom has been leaked.

Looks like their highly patronising style of journalism strikes again, as the last time I checked came under the following category, but searching revealed nothing (EDIT until I went to Universal Upgrading forum) not that I have a Universal but was intrigued nonetheless.

"(but any Internet user who knows how to use search engines can find it easily)" - msmobiles

Am I right in thinking that if Crossbow ROMS turn up for other devices like Universal, then a port to BlueAngel is possible?

Is the main branch of work still WM5 as WM6 is not really going to happen on the BA?? Or can we still keep our hopes up?

Dluv

I guess it's possible to port it on BA.
cause in other threads there's a big activity about Universal and Wizard with WM6

we just need to wait or start making rom ourselves

My brother have an MPX200 that i flashed with WM5!! He is very happy with it and have no problems!!

You have misunderstood me, i mean that the crossbow roms are 64 mb and we have space only for 32 mb rom, in mpx200 it was the same that was the reason the remaining part to be relocated to the sdcard

aha
I stay corrected!
the cards now are both fast and big enough so i don't think this will be a big problem! If OS speed is not compromised!!

I have two sd cards (1gb and 2gb) which I swap between on my BA to allow me to have tomtom maps and movies on my device.

Untill now, I have ignored extrom.

Is it possible for me to install the extrom on both cards, so that I can swap them over when I want?

But the problem is not here, the problem is to make WM6 to boot in blueangel

most of the important files will fit into 32mb and the rest can be installed from extrom

but this is just theory, if more people think on it it may happen in near future

One thing that doesn't seem to be being made clear in this thread - the core of wm5/6 depends on 2 files as far as I can see
- nk.exe
- coredll.dll

nk.exe is definitely hardware-specific. The WM6 Wizard version even includes the string "Wizard", likewise BA's WM5 nk.exe includes the string "Bueangel".

With this in mind, I seriously think that a proper WM6 will not be possible on BA until some licensed developer throws a kernel together and leaks it.

If this were to happen, it would make MS and HTC pretty unhappy, and that would not be good for a community like ours that already sits on dodgy legal territory.

With the seriously dangerous situation like this, I dont think there'll be someone dare to throw the kernel, dare not they? Maybe we'll have to wait until MS eases the limit.

what if, we use current wm5 nk.exe and the newer coredll.dll ?

i don't know how to edit the xip sectors properly but someone with more knowledge than me can try it

if this does not work then we will never see crossbow on BA

But isn't extrom on the sd card?

My problem is that I want to be able to switch between two sd cards, without damaging the system. Is there a way of doing this?

Is this really going to happen?

Why do we need a licenced developer? Can't someone who knows about the BA and wm6 from xda-developers make some modifications to the preveous drivers?

hardingt0110

P.S I know we all want this to happen quickly, but I totally agree with the members who think that we need to wait for a stable official version of WM6 comes out for a BA like device. Otherwise we will have bugs before we even start!

@xplode

WM5 nk.exe and WM6 coredll.dll might work, at least in some limited fashion. I'd certainly say that it's the best chance for BA users without a properly compiled kernel.

That said, the XIP area of the rom is very hard to modify with the current tools. Rommaster, dumprom and dumpromx often just make a mess of the XIP section or will simply refuse to add files due to a "lack of space". I have even recieved a "no space" error when inserting files into a XIP section that I had carefully emptied of all files/modules.

Has anyone found any source/docs on how dumpromx/dumprom/rommaster work? Or on the format of the XIP section? There might be a way to manually hack files into the XIP or to improve the tools a bit.

I have also tried lifting the entire XIP section (3072kb) from Wizard and re-inserting it into a BA ROM (incurring serious risk of bricking my BA), but the results were a total loss, either due to my hamfisted attempts to transplant the XIP section or the incompatible nk.exe. I didn't really expect this approach to work, but you have to try these things, don't ya?

I'm not sure, but I believe a member called HappyGoat made dumprom, and is in the process of making a manual by the sound of it -

How to use it
Here is an example (Blue Angel ROM, WIN XP, so commands can differ slightly)
HappyGoat will complete tut tomorrow

Not sure which day tomorrow is after?!
