I bet if you was to hard reset (or reflashed) your phone and start again it will work! Windows mobile is just as funny as the desktop big brother when installing then uninstalling programs ;)
BTW Ive ALWAYS had my wizard running sweeter just after a fresh flash than after many hard resets (same programs loaded everytime), I dont know why is just the way it is?!

Yep sync with outlook will keep all your stuff on your computer, dont forget to delete the orginal parnership on activesync just after you have hard reset so you can start again.

Before you start playing with ROM images on your considerably expensive device, you really need to read up and understand it, as there are more things to consider than simply being able to downgrade, such as CID lock status for one.

I kno how to CID unlock one device, backup andy ROM to SD and use Mtty. I started palying with ROM from Magician BigStorage ;)

What I'd linke to know is just one information to revert original rom in a fast way like the shipped ROM upgrade. I can remember with Qtek 2020 and WM5 there were some problems doing that.

Yes you can, it would work the same as if you were going from one WM5 to another WM5. I have done it like 7 times so far!!!

Well, pretty expensive piece of kit to trash if you made a mistake that could have been avoided really ;)

Seriously though, whenever a new ROM is released, up to page 10 is usually useful info, questions, and answers. Then somewhere between 10 to 15 people start asking the same questions that were on the 2nd page, and this goes around in circles.

If people simply read the threads, they wouldn't be so long with the same questions asked, and answered, then ultimately ignored because they were asked so many times.

People need to take some responsibility for their own actions, and read things for themselves.

Hi all,

I took the liberty and the time to read all related threads, but I cannot find a solution my camera issue.
Right after I flashed my Wizard, I followed all steps Faria mentioned regarding the Camera Fix.
I Downloaded the rar, copied the files to the right locations and imported the camera.reg.

So far so good, no issues at all.

But..

When I try to start Camera.exe I get the following error message:

"The file 'Camera' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file."

Does anyone have a clue on how I can fix this?

All is well with my T-Mobile MDA and WM6 rom so far, I am truly loving the memory save wit this rom, I run all my normal programs, which usually drops me to about 10-13mb left, but I'm still floating at about 18mb left, so thats deffiently good.

But a quick question, does anyone know how to implement the PhonePad SIP that was in WM5 into WM6, for some reason I perfer to use that when not in landscape mode.

Running leaked WM6 SPL/IPL 2.25

I've noticed my phone doesn't always pick up on incoming calls. Meaning it doesn't show the alert "Answer" or "Ignore" message box. This has happened on two occassions. I know the phone is getting the signal as the you can hear the speakers nearby make odd noises. Also the CRT does it's wavey thing.

Curious if others have seen this...

u are right 2.19 seems the most stable ROM wit AKU above 3.0 and therfore the best thing to do is to include 2.19 ROM or first update with WM6 and then with Radio 2.19.

in the orwells rar is an pc installer... you don't have to put it on your pocketpc... start it on your pc and it will load the rom on your pocketpc

u should have your phone in bootloader mode and then connect it to pc and then u should unrar and in the new map where u have put the files u should see these files:

1. EnterBootLoader.exe
2.nk.nbf
3.ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe
4.RUUGetInfo.exe
5.RUUResource.dll

u see that there are 5 files when after connecting your phone to PC (phoen must be in boatloader moder) then justy press twice ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe and follow the upgrade procedure

Dude I don't want to offend you but You are risking doing serious damage or even destroying your phone at the moment. If I was you (and I was you a year or 2 ago) I would do a lot more research before jumping in and flashing my phone. Read the tutorials and Wiki posts from this site a few times and make sure you know what each file in the upgrade does.

To add files to your rar first extract the current files into a folder using the Winrar program, Then you can add the missing files by copping and pasting them into the same folder. You do not need to re add everything into a rar file To flash the phone all you need to do is run the ROMUpdateUtility file from your PC with your phone connected to your pc Via Activesync.

Please be careful I know the feeling of jumping in and having a dead phone afterwards, All those feelings of "Why oh Why didn't I leave it as it was, as now I don't even have a phone" aren't fun!

I think that is something wrong with your .rar file, as the known orwells1984.rar contains surely all the necessary files. Do you have any error messages when you unrar it? Maybe your download was unsuccessfull and the orwells1984.rar is damaged...
Try just to open the file with the winrar program to see the containment.
I advice you to redownload it from the same source once again and if it is going to be again unsuccessfull look for an other source to download.

It is quite sure that if your rar file is damaged and you are going to do the trick of copying the missing files, your device will become unusable after the flash.

I would say that you should do everything as below :

1. Wake up
2. Learn what a rar file is
3. Install Winrar
4. Get the file that you want to un-compress
5. Open Winrar
6. Select Extract
7. Say where you want to put thew files
8. When finished find the folder that you have just made.
9. Go to (file no longer there)
10. Copy the files as follows to the your new rom folder
EnterBootloader.exe
ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe
RUUGetInfo.exe
RUUResource.dll
11.Now you are ready to mess-up the flashing process

Have fun and dont come back crying when you do brick your phone!

None of the WM6 ROM are official released and we all know that. The VietPDA Pro is for Universal (check the Universal forum) and it based on the leaked WM6 CB also. Good luck in trying to find an "official" released version. It didn't exist.

The "Pro" is just a named add-on by the Cook :) There is no "Pro" just the same leaked base (QVGA for wizard and VGA universal). Your QVGA CB OS is just as good as the VGA CB. The Wizard will also get the name "Pro" soon after the Cook in VietPDA has ironed out some of the problem based on what I have read there.

You are referring to the WM6PreRelease.rar (54177kb) Build date 1/12/2006 (15341.4.2.0), which is a VGA version for the universal.

This one won't work for the wizard (QVGA).

try this cab P_Conn_CWS_APR12_Wizard (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=31911&d=1165580934) just rename the file from .zip to .cab then transfer it to your device and run it. it will give you the "Media net" connection and should give all the settings too, if it doesnt, you can get the settings from cingulars website under "support" (it even has pics)

Does anyone know how to manually uninstall Arcsoft MMS, I installed using an cab given, and I know before I had seen it in the add\remove list, but now its not there, I managed to get the original MMS app to work with the phone, and dont need the Arcsoft MMS anymore, thanks in advance.

there are some reasons - at least for some of us - e.g. less battery drain, no memory leak, camera night mode works...

1 - False. There are two Xbow roms for wizard: wwe and chs
2 - False. They're both quite stable (even more stable than aku3.3 IMHO)
3 - CHS and WWE Xbow roms share the same XIP area, Drivers and base-OS files. WWE differs only in MUIs and OEM applications.
4 - True. But i can't see how this may be a problem for you.
5 - ??? (maybe you have a G4, i don't know. Anyway, it shouldn't be a problem using some different RUU files)
6 - WM6 and aku3.3 have the same speed, that's true. But WM6 has something more: html emails, remote desktop, nicier UI, just to name a few.
7 - ...
8 - For me, a great pro is: COOLNESS FACTOR. I love being the only one in my campus (and one of the very few in the WORLD) sporting a, still unreleased, WM6 rom :)

I agree with Risidoro.
I was on WM6 during the last 2 weeks without a single problem except the missing camera button which is now solved.
I tried today the latest Faria WM5 with the hope that it did contain the crossbow aeroview; but it did not.

You nailed it right here...it is easily the fastest ROM I've run and I don't even have it overclocked right now. VERY stable and I love the look!

2- Your voice mail "Call waiting" setting is probably set to "Do not notify me"; click the option "Notify me" should do the trick

I've had a lot little bugs which I think may be phone specific...
I couldn't do any GPRS settings for the life of me, BT worked asstastically, WiFi worked whenever it wanted... needs moar cooked roms ^_^

I may be wrong but I've occasionally had this issue with all ROM's. I use Cingular and sometimes their voicemail simply screws up. I've had your compalint but normally I have it the other way, meaning that I continue to have notifications that I have new voice mail when I don 't ... and then Cingular resets my mailbox... meaning I have to recreate all my greetings... PIA!

but that's just my experiences.

Ok, first of all i want to apologize for what i'm about to ask because i know how frustrated a lot of member get with this type of question and i did search for the answer for about 2hrs and still havent come up with a defenite answer so please bare with me....

when i downloaded the wm6 rom i assumed it was going to be like all the others i've used in that past that are just executable files that run on its own (molski's roms spoiled me) anyway so obviously this rom come in a folder that that has these files

1. EnterBootLoader.exe
2.nk.nbf
3.ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe
4.RUUGetInfo.exe
5.RUUResource.dll

i unlocked it both ways then ran the romupdateutility thinking it will would flash the wm6 rom but it did not, so i assuming the nbf files needs to be flashed somehow, i'm read the "The Definitive Guide to Unlocking & Rom Upgrading G3 Wizards" thread and didn't see anything in there about flashing nbf files.......so to wrap it up, can someone point me in the right direction (maybe a link) for instructions on how to flash non .exe rom

yea give it a try.. the thing is that many roms that were made that unlock the phone temporarily just to load the Rom.. i was using X's Cooked Tmobile rom and though it was officially unlocked.. but it wasnt.. but after following the Sticky.. you will be good to go.. just follow it to the T

I did follow the definitive guide, "To the 'T'" and I could not get the Button 1.5 Rom to go thru... The fix for me was to to just pay the money to imei-check. That worked for me....

To those asking where the camera function is, Its in there. I am able to use ALL the features that were on TMO_US WM5 2.26. This is before I even installed any of the cabs from the extended rom. The only ones I installed from there are the Edge/Gprs update (simple), and the OZ Instant Messenger.

The built in Voice Command ROCKS!!!! It is like having my own secretary.

Just a few quarks I have noticed. Voicemail - Everything works (notify etc...) except, the DTMF Tones to delete voicemail, or save voicemail. I hear the message, press 7 to delete, and nothing. its like the VM System doesnt hear it.

And of course the battery issue. It does suck down the juice. I even but the screen brightness at one level above off. My mda can go from 100 to 10 percent in less than a full work day. So now I'm looking for an extended life battery. If anybody knows of one.... hint hint....

can anyone explain me why sometimes wen im on wifi.. Windows Live Messenger trys to connect it tries to use GPRS instead of the wifi.. anyone having this problem?

I've got the same issue. I can cancel the attempts to connect to GPRS (need to do that at least twice) and then it connects through wifi.

If someone knows the solution I also would like to know what that is.

i was under the impression that crossbow would work on the g4 wizard because it didnt have ipl and spl embedded in the rom.

As for me it looks cool, works realy fast and most important - stable. And i loved it :)

I fixed MMS, tweaks some registry, forgot about camera (i hate it sience i saw SE W800 with buildin 2MP cam).

But, still have some questions to make my Wiz superb:

- self wake up when connected to PC - any idea how to turn off this "feature"? Its very irritating, especialy when i don't have wall mounted AC/DC adapter and using USB for recharging.

- Microphone AGC - is there any way to fix it to enable? Whenever i set it to ON after some time its OFF. Very frustrating :/

Mardimus..you should unlock with lokowiz unlocker.. look at the "How to CID unlock" sticky in the top of the forum..after unlocking in that manner then you should be good to go.. Same thing happened to me:D

I've just upgraded to PDAVIET 4 and it's mostly working well. But I'm having a problem with DTMF (the touch-tones that you use for accessing voicemail, etc). None of them are being received on the other end. I can hear them when I press the buttons, but nothing happens.

Anyone got any advice? The only significant software I've added is Smartskey and Minimo (firefox for WM). I'm using an MDA.

Other than that, things are working great. I'm really grateful to everyone on these boards for turning the frustrating stock setup into something useful.

thanks for the heads up, but unfortunately that is the same version i have right now. The thing that bugs me the most about it is that when going to creat a new mms you dont' have the simple option of adding a recepient from you contact list and there's no autofill either, you manually have to go find the persons number and come back to the mms and type it in...

I've just upgraded to PDAVIET 4 and it's mostly working well. But I'm having a problem with DTMF (the touch-tones that you use for accessing voicemail, etc). None of them are being received on the other end. I can hear them when I press the buttons, but nothing happens.

Anyone got any advice? The only significant software I've added is Smartskey and Minimo (firefox for WM). I'm using an MDA.

Other than that, things are working great. I'm really grateful to everyone on these boards for turning the frustrating stock setup into something useful.

I had this issue too... with an 8125 on pretty much every ROM above AKU 3.2... and I eventually (with an exhaustive search on these forums) found that the radio rom was the culprit.... during one of the rom upgrades, the radio rom was updated to 2.47.11 - BAD! Weirdness in DTMF, Call and Voicemail notifications... I was missing calls left and right and not getting text messages either unless I soft reset every few hours.... Downgraded the radio rom to 2.25.11 and it was better... but T-Mobile's 2.19.11 UK radio rom fixed everything.... no more missed calls, no more missed text msgs, and no more DTMF issues "Are you still there?"

Be aware of what a rom update will update... Mobiwiz's latest WM5 rom updates the radio to 2.47.11.... I went from that to orwell's WM6 rom and then downgraded the radio to 2.19.11... works like a champ!

BTW... for some odd reason, PDAVIET3 and PDAVIET4 won't load on my 8125... 3 just constantly reboots after reaching the Windows Mobile splash screen and 4 gets to the "Tap screen to get started" and then hangs....
Love orwell's rom... added coolcamera, the latest Midlet Manager (yay! Gmail works!!), and installed VC 1.6 over top of the rom and I'm sitting pretty with 25 MB+ free after my bloated today screen loads (with Weatherpanel, The latest Batterystatus, Today warrior, Rhino Launch, O2 Plus 2.3, BetMemTime and pTravelAlarm) - couldn't get wisbar to go... oh well... it's still purty enough for me... ;)

When I run the ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe (wm6 crossbow (wwe) for htc wizard v5.2.660) I get an error after the update program connects to my Orange M3000 (CID unlocked):

Adding a few more quirks to my voicemail issue with this Rom.

Taking longer then normal to recieve text messages. Sometimes I get a message that the phone isn't ready when trying to send a text message.

Also I get a lot more error in shell occured alot more now and sometimes I can't hang up a call. Actually it won't let me do anything, hang up swap....its like the keypad is locked up.

Debating on going back to Faria's ROM or SuperRom's.

I have no problem with .net running pdaviet3. pdaviet4 is a "bad" release. It has more issues in stead of less.

Vista rom upgrades to the HTC is useless. Go back to an XP box and give it a try. I had no success on VISTA and 100% success on XP.

I used PDAViet for about a week. It's nice but I'm gonna wait a for a full version...

Is it possible to extract the HTML email from this rom and apply it to WM5? That would be great... if it were possible.

ROM upgrade utilities does NOT work under Windows Vista at all! :(
As a workaround, you can try VirtualBox or VMWare to virtualize your XP as a guest OS and run the utility. Works fine under XP. But forget it under Vista...at least for while.:rolleyes:

One huge diffrence ive seen with orwells is that it appears to be a bland version of WM6. No apps nothing. no customization at all. All the same problems exist except what PDAViet did to fix them are still existant.

Yes, you can. Dopod 838 is another name for the Wizard for the Asian market. Make sure that you have read the sticky and CID unlocked your device.

I'm using the Underground version of WM6 and have html email working on pop3 and windows live. Unfortunatly my exchange server is down at the mo and haven't had chance to test that yet, however i would imagine would work the same way. There's a setting when setting up a pop3 email account if you want to download html emails or plain text

Dear all, I have got a MAJOR problem. Namely I installed wm 6 pdaviet 4 on my t-mobile vario device a week ago with shelltool. This all went fine, but it didn't connect with my wmdc of vista, so I tried it on my xp pc, and it luckily did. Then I thought, no its best to go back to the best 3.3 version of faria. So I did the shelltool again with the faria 3.3 rom, and everything went good. Then I had to hard reset, and acidentally soft resetted, and then hard resetted. But now it looks fine when it starts, and it just boots as normal, but hangs on the flash screen of t-mobile with the OS version on it. What do I do now? I hard/soft resetted it a dozen times. But without active sync I cannot flash it again right ? What do I do? Plzzzzzz help???????

You don't actually need activesync to revive your device. :rolleyes:
You seems to be stuck on after several hard resets. I'd suggest you to enter in a bootloader mode and reflash it. Follow my procedure below and good luck!

Is anyone else having this issue with this ROM? I tried both the PDAViet ROM and this one and am seeing the same behavior as I saw with the first AKU 2.0 ROMs that came out. That is, when the device goes into standby mode, it does not vibrate when an email comes in. This was fixed with the later batches of the AKU 2.3 ROMs and the 3.0 ROMs but regretably seems to be an issue once again. Is anyone else noticing this? I tried a search of the WM 6.0 threads and came up empty.

My fix is to use PhoneAlarm, but this is not ideal as it seems to create some stability issues and I would rather go "naked" as far as notifications are concerned. Help please?

P.S. Sorry for the double post - I wanted to post here and the other WM 6.0 thread in case people weren't watching both threads.

I have binded my camera button for "pictures and videos", but anyway the OS has a very limited interface for managing camera.

Any extraction for camera from other ROM's or a standalone camera app would be greatly appreciated.

i just want to say i love the internet sharing with vista. this couldn't get any easier!!!! i used to never use it cause it was so much work to set up. i went on vacation and thought i would give it a try with wm6. i was on the interent in seconds with really no configuration. they did a great job with it.

There is a utility somewhere on here, I think it was from Microsoft that allowed you to edit these .hv files directly. Sorry I can't point you closer.

Use a registry editor - Default.hv is just the Hive for the registry in this case. The paths given in the post indicate where to actually set those values.

Sorry - didn't realize this was prior to installing. You may be able to do this on a device and save off in that case. (Feeling sheepish now for posting without knowing the entire thread history - all however many pages.....) If not, there should be a utility available to edit PPC registry files offline somewhere. If I find a link to one, I'll try to post it.

I get the strange feeling that those of us using a Wizard will have a LONG wait before we get an official WM6 upgrade. (Read - it's not likely to happen.) There's just no real profit in releasing WM6 for the Wizard at this point. We can work with the cooked ROMs that people have worked on, but that's probably as close as we're likely to get. Sad, but I think that is part of the whole reason behind MS enforcing their rights to have XDA's FTP site remove all of the ROM images.

I used the PDAviet ROM, found out it was for QWERTZ keyboard, got annoyed, and flipped to Faria's ROM. No problem.

I am happy to be corrected on this. Pleasantly surprised that the carriers are actually supporting an upgrade to WM6 for current, if older, devices. I was considering flashing one of the WM6 ROMs out there now, but may just wait for Cingular at this point. I have no problem with using their stuff, but I will still look for the tweaks to come later that will give more memory and better performance. Actually, that's the main reason I started coming here in the first place. The ROMs were an added bonus at the time, but I wasn't really big into constantly re-flashing my device.

I went from Faria 3.3 to WM6 Underground, back to Faria 3.3, then PDAViet4, then WM6 Underground. No issues

Well, I'm using kinda "raw" installation, probably microsoft "original" or sth for wiza100, and now, after browsing xda ftp, i found and downloaded the coolcamera app and bind it to the camera hardware key - now it works flawlessly :) happy heh :)

Umm..., it was removed for a reason. And the reason is Faria signature is in it. He didn't want to be associated with the WM6 ROM cooking scene due to MS. It was a big, unpleasant "deal" on this forum with pro and con due to it.

Good enough reason. I will remove it when he or any moderator askes. They can do it themselves also.

It's the T-mobile implementation of the HTC camera anyway. I do think it's a bit tricky to copy it from a rom and a lot of readers will be really happy with it. It integrates with MMS and it makes the wm6 complete with some speed updates.

Recommended upgrades for a clean and fast wm6 are (all on xda ftp server):

Er... I just downloaded and installed the underground rom and although it shows a wm6 splash screen it runs as WM5 5.1.195 (in the about screen).

I know I've PM'd Jose as well as posted three different times for the camera stuff and Faria wouldn't even respond. His business? Maybe, but at least he could state why, and leave no doubt. That way, non of us would have to second guess and be pushed toward using Cool Camera warez which is just as bad. Yeah, it's our choice, but I'm with tonblom: this zip file is nothing but T-mobile/HTC camera stuff which we all have on the regular ROM anyway.

Is the GPS working on the Underground Crossbow? I've tried to get it to work; everything else does just as it should. But I can''t get the Wizard to find rhe supposedly unlocked "wired or Built-in GPS" settings using GPSGate. My Wizard is set up with the phone unlocked using button and lokiwiz, then flashed up with Radio 2.47 and 5. Underground Crossbow.

Any help out there? Can't find anything on Wizard and GPS on the Wizard threads here...

There is no "Wired or Built-in" GPS in the WIZARD, you need a BlueTooth GPS Module.

No issues reported! At all! I use together with a Bluetooth Rikaline adapter! That's all you need to have a GPS environment working over your Wizard!;)

sorry for double post with other thread... but this is useful (for french speakers of course)...

If you want to have the following with Windows Mobile 6 :

-french keyboard including accentuated character : 'é' 'è' 'ê' etc.
-french dictionnary word completion

just install the attached cab.

Normally the cab would also change the onscreen keyboard to french... but it doesn't... Maybe other registry keys are modified for wm5 and don't work with wm6... surely the cab should be fixed.

I'm not the author of this cab and don't know what it does... I think it comes from a guy called 'seb' from this forum : qtek9100.forum-pro.net

Anyway : nice job many thanks to him !

PS : if you know a good onscreen keyboard freeware that works with a french layout on wm6, please let me know.
