my guess is there talking about this guy who seem to have changed the number of the version of OS in the rom itself . in short he has faken this new windowsbuild. As far as i can tell from what i've read on internet this wm5.2 or windows mobile crossbow is out and manifacturers have it. I think there trying to get this new os from the rom file of this newer phone and put it in the rom of the wizard asumming it would work since both versions are about the same.
Since there is a lot of confusion going on :
it seems wm5.2 or windows mobile 5 second edition is the crossbow version
wm6 will be the photon version.
now havent we seen this before on windows 98 second edition whereas microsoft was short in time and released this crappy redesigned version so they could continu on win2k ?
my guess is there making this second edition just before the release of vista.
we should wait for the photon edition to come out and impress us with its new features and stuff. since this crossbow is merely a redesign of the visual part. best take faria rom with crossbow icons which prob runs a lot smoother then this real crossbow.and not to forget the support for our nice appz like spb pocketplus

well i digged it up from this other site somewhere, so it wouldn't be to strange that the same members turn up there. More interesting is there source , this haahaa2000 guy seems to know a lot about roms.
i'm not to sure wheter this rom is suitable for the wizard and its probably in japanese.
I downloaded the software file which contains software lol , some nice progs
probably in japanese.

da_jojo: I'm asking in advance for you guys not to make extra work for us, because we (the moderators and administrators) will have to delete the rom if you do upload. I've said before, this isn't for us to be hard asses, it's because if there is legal action against the forum we may have to close.

Look: there are copies of Crossbow out and have been for a while. On pretty much all the major HTC devices. I know you all want it and are excited. Cool. Just tell each other who has it, and download from each other if you must. But just not through the board.

vijay dont worry , i myself do not want this forum to be closed and i have read all the stuff we're supposed to read as a member. I have had a forum for few years so i understand how much work it is. Since talking about it aint illegal and offering links to sites that link to maybe a romfile isnt illegal either.
If we find a working copy , we will ask for your opinion about it. Since we now know about it allready, there is no need anymore to do so.
But i wonder why this customroms are not illegal .. whats the difference ?

Do note - the torch app is not Wizard compatible. I've never had a wizard, so can't debug on it, so don't write for it :( One day I'll make it compatible.

The reason Crossbow roms are different is because the roms have been leaked by people under NDAs or working for the Man. Public release of those roms puts those people at risk, and gets us involved. We don't want to be legally responsible for that. Maybe later once the roms are publically released we'll support them in the normal way. Right now, best not to risk it.

I would really like to try Crossbow on my Wizard, but I'll only mess with it if it's a native English build. I had many problems on my Himalaya with translated images, so I learned my lesson :)

That is Windows CE 6, it is not Crossbow.

You can not turn that into Crossbow, or Photon, or anything else, other than as a developer platform on your PC to build applications for Windows CE 6.

as far as i know , discussing the rom is ok, but attaching or posting links to it not ok.

Im downloading it from PDAFANS now. Its a chinese site , and i had to register to be able to download . dont ask me how, but with the aid of altavista bable fish i sucseeded after a lot of trial and error (i still have a headache)


Im not sure if i should proceed and try to install . because the screenshot on the chinese site show it using a G4 phone and i have a G3 model. So at least im going to have to remove the loaders before attempting to instal it. And i have never done that before...

You can make a ROM work for G3 or G4. So that shouldn't be a big deal. As far as I know, the two files contained in the .RAR file are for the raw image file (I don't cook ROMS so know very little on individual files).

The files are: 8888-OS.nba and 8888-Radio.nba


It's a wait and see game now while the experts see what they can do with it. Since I don't speak Chinese, there's no way I can install it and try to do anything with it.

I could help in converting the rom to english language... i tried to do something similar with a wm5 rom (from eng to ita) and the result was quite successful (although not completely).

As far as i understand, i think IPL and SPL are not included in this rom.
You have only os and radio parts. You need to make a nk.nbf file out of these two so you won't have any ipl/spl in your nk.nbf.

BTW: it seems that you must use only os.nbs to cook nk.nbf. Leave the radio part out.

We`ll made a WWE localization immediately. I think it will be here in 3 weeks. Or the newer WWE Crossbow ROM :-D

EDIT: That ROM is unluckylly based on Chinese language, so we can`t simply remove mui files, but we can translate it by mui files, BUT it will slower than WWE based ROM and will be here in 3 weeks.

The WWE Crossbow ROM for HTC Wizard is on the world (Some man wrote he has it), but he must signed to will not dumped and distributed it for other peoples.

BUT The WWE WM 6.0 Crossbow ROM will be and not depending on official or unofficial

One could use the MUI files from the vanilla Universal WM6..

EDIT: That ROM is unluckylly based on Chinese language, so we can`t simply remove mui files, but we can translate it by mui files, BUT it will slower than WWE based ROM and will be here in 3 weeks.

The WWE Crossbow ROM for HTC Wizard is on the world (Some man wrote he has it), but he must signed to will not dumped and distributed it for other peoples.

indeed as tofclock says the main language of the rom is english so u can wipe all localisationfiles and it will turn to wwe. as far for the registrysettings and files to delete i dont know enough about windows mobile yet, but we'll get there ^^

as far as i can tell from the page in japanese translated by this nice friend of mine it says they have gotten the rom and managed to extract it from a new device this 3100 model ?? (my guess) and they have put it on a rom based on this dopod rom. to be more specific: the loader comes from the wwe version the ipl comes from dopod so it probably the reason for it being japanese. and the os is an english release with japanese customisation.

Yeah I have tried this too, but with the same end.

I will trying that next day.
But the 804 Chinese mui is totally implement in system (some exe and dll files are translated directly to Chinese like in other non WWE ROMs)

have you tried changing the names of the folders by renaming them to english ?

yup it has been shipped to htc and such allready this rom so one can read on the internet in several places. And the first phone to come out with it was scheduled for the 17th i believe to have read somewhere. This is probably our best shot to wait till this device from htc comes out with a wm6 rom so we can happily extract it and use it for our customisation needs, since we are the owner of this little toy.

first of all 95% of the files in the uni rom are not coppatible wit the wizard platform uni uses 192dpi wizard 96 dpi but there is other ways...

You're confusing 30 day time-out without a valid key to a trial, if you are not legally entitled to that software, you are still breaking the EULA even if you are intending on using it as a trial.

ROM images have a totally different EULA, there are no trials, only official development partnerships with Microsoft.

wm6 needs 32mb rom and 32mb ram... so it might even run on a older one that before couldnt run wm5 , but it might be that it is confused with the photon version.

But I'm all about checking it out. I just loaded the OS with awizard. Bricked it firsttime. Recovered with button rom. Didn't need radio to be able to use the phone. Phone worked great. Total Commander loaded/works fine. Smartskey works fine. BatteryStatus WITH overclocking works fine.

Device Info/About (not sure) says Window Mobile 6. But it is version 5.2.660.

i take it you have spl&ipl 2.26 ?
since u only loaded the OS and u have 2.26 bootloader it probably works ^^
can you make phonecall and is the radio functioning like it should , like sms,call,mms, wifi, bluetooth?

THE CROSSBOW roms flies in the wizard compared to current akus
they have a new type of smardialing
remote desktop
window update
internet calling
etc etc
there is no mms,and others and the camera app is very limited,this means we will have to integrate those parts .
infortunatly as far as i know WWE has a problem with activesync usb.it can only be sicronized tru bt or ir.
also bear in mind that im almost 100% sure that never will be an official release for the wizard,current roms are all beta tests so be carefull.

in short the roms are what windows mobile should been years ago.

thats weird coz this chinese guy was telling it bugged out on him, so he adviced to do this on a 2.x ipl&spl
did u apply the unlock again ? i read that it should be done again after buttons romflash
my findings were that it runs a lot better and faster when u apply the procedure of the unlocking fully i.e. downgrade to 1.01 > unlock>downgrade again to 1.01 > hard-reset>upgrade to 2.26 >hard-reset> any custom rom

as this chinese wm6 is a OS only and doesnt contain IPL&SPL , u can flash it to your device G3 or G4 , but it will probably miss some features or ur lucky and nothing happens :) gn ;)

i think it is not possible
think about it: create image from a laptop with different spec. than a desktop comp. and try to reload image on desktop. it will need new drivers. case should be similar to this

But I would need someone to try some ROM builds for me cos I don’t have a wizard and the person usually trys my wizard ROMs is not available at the moment. This one would need...
- The knowledge about how to flash the 8888-OS.nba
- A (fast) internet connection to download the ROMs
- ICQ or MSN

I really don’t think that flashing the OS part could somehow damage you device... but if it happens it is you own risk...

no that one was aku3 3.3.00 and was suposed to be released today....everything works perfect ....but then crossbow came.... but yes we been working in this project for months
