Hello,

I just installed the ROM called "NB Update nghianga". This one overcame the problem of being stuck in bootloader. Now my S200 is loaded with WM6. That's cool but ActiveSync doesn't accept my exchange server settings.
I am getting an error "Support code: 80072f06". Something about the server name being wrong when in fact it is not.
Anybody else having problems synching?

Guys, I found the fix to the system sounds problem in this thread, in neophit's post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290399&page=3&highlight=wm6+sounds

1 -> Go to your Windows folder, make a copy of your hwandsw.wav and rename it to MenuSel.wav;

2 -> Download the file attached and rename it to HKLM.snd.reg (yeah, change it's extension from .txt to .reg);

3 -> Using some registry editor import it in your pda;

4 -> Go to "Sound and Notifications", open it, don't change anything, just press ok;

Sounds should be good by now.

Thanks for that. Does this version show accurate battery information? The previous version had the battery showing at zero even though it was charged.

I'm maked complet WM6 for Prophet. Fix all error. I'm tested ok and good.

Thank you for a very good ROM.
There is one bug which is very irritating.
In the top menu-bar the wifi icon only shows "turn on" wifi, whether wifi is on or off.
The only way to turn off wifi is through the com manager.
Is there an easy fix for that?

Can't figure what the problem is with ActieSync.

My what? I never had to do that with previous updates.
Anyway, it seems that people are getting on their way and not complaining about activesync with the "Prophet_2007_update_Full_N2N_(20-02-2007)" version, and i am stuck in bootloader with that one.
Can anybody instruct me how to CID unlock my G4 prophet?

I have no charging problems i did with jesterz 3.3 b1 untill i installed the fix cab.

I installed this on my G4 using the alternative update method (dos prompt at align screen) as the normal method just gave me the bootloader.

I suppose it is because my Qtek S200 is still locked.

First, I would like to know if this can be the problem and how can I make sure my device is locked.
Second, how can I unlock it?

Seems to be fine drove 50 miles to work today with tom tom on and it drained a bit plugged in when i got to work it started charging and is now 100% didnt need a soft reset

I've read the entire thread, but I still can't figure out how to get WM6 on my PDA.

I've got an O2 XDA Neo Race Edition (HTC Prophet G4 it has 0001) which is probably CID-locked. I still have the ROM on it that was on the PDA when I bought it.

Here the details from the device information:

ROM-Version: 2.15.29 GER
ROM-Date: 3/9/06
Funkempfängerversion: 02.19.21 (guess this is the radio-receiver version)
Protocol-Version: 4.1.13.09

many times here was written, if you stuck with bootloader, first you need to back to for example Qtek 2.20 ROM and then start upload WM6 with upgrade_rom.bat.....

I find some new (old ?)issues with last nghianga WM6 ROM...

- after soft reset, Internet explorer cannot connect to gprs, it looks like there isn't gprs settings, but settings for network is present and it's OK (solution: pass trough gprs setting again without changing anything -> connection works again),

- first time after soft reset Activesync charging is OK, but later when device is connected again and again trough Activesync it reduce battery % instead of charging even if lights orange (solution soft reset and its OK),

- settings for Buttons are still Wizard looking. There isn't Messaging and IE buttons. Camera and Comm manager buttons are OK, but soft keys are not present (solution -> install softkey.cpl applet),

- maybe its only my finding, but battery discharge faster than before with older rom,

- bluetooth is completely ok, wifi sometimes doesn't remember setting for already used networks and doesn't start every time I try to start it trough Comm manager,

- There is still wrong Model No.: (square) in device information, instead of Prophet (PM300).


Nghianga, try to fix these issues.
Last release of WM6 is the best until now.

don't rename, you must use tool for convert nbf to nb or nba

God, finally i got the rom on my XDA Neo, everything works fine, there are many small bugs(acceptable), but what bothered the most are:

- Windows live messenger and email doesn't connect. msg (There's a connectivity problem. Make sure you're in...)
- Windows update doesn't connect, hangs alot.
- Device sometimes doesn't recognize storage card after wake up. (remove&insert again)

Are there any solutions for these problems? :(

P.S - I just realized my battery really doesn't charge thru usb now, (first few times were fine), just reset, now charging again.. sighs..

ah.. really? :-/ i noticed that square too, bt thought it doesn't matter.. i saw in pdafans' thread, the chinese WM6 has fixed that, it shows Prophet instead of square...

Those of us lucky enough to upgrade have had some time to experiment with the new ROM. My .02€, Rants and Raves, and Observations/Questions:

1. Cannot seem to unlock, R/W Extended_ROM2. Have tried all the binaries available and no dice for the writing part. It would be nice to have 9MB extra :)
2. Wifi seems OK - connections are remembered as per soft resetting when the WIFI is connected and configured (maybe 2 times Soft Resets- can't remember)
3. BT seems to remember all the configs and partnerships as well...
4. In the Wifi Connection pop-up it says "turn on" even when it is turned on - This I can live with...
5. As many of you have seen - this ROM is much faster and responds quicker, however at a price; Our OMAPs are wizzing at an incredible rate and therefore our batteries drain at the same exponential rates = Cant get something for nothing I guess...
6. Possibly concerning #5 is the fact that certain BatteryStatus' that worked well on WM5 2.20 (showing CPU normal) now max out @ 100% on this WM6, is this why this OS 'Zooms' so well? Are we using our CPUs @ a 100% ALL THE TIME NOW?
7. The GUI is SO MUCH BETTER to the eyes and overall a SERIOUS improvement.
8. SD Encryption - If we enable and then move back to WM5, will there be data corruption?
9. Activation of Wifi through the normal software, IE VJs or Sckeme are not possible and trying the Wifilnk startup and the REG value HTCWifionboot = 1 disables the Wifi completly... somewhat of a bummer.
10. As for the Radio - Reactivation of the radio seems only through COmm Mng and the Radio Tool from BurrOak, the others don't seem to work. I must admit that I havent tried them all though....

All in all I am happy with the ROM and look forward to seeing improvement in this forum and/or the next one.

OK the CPU thing - I cannot understand it. RhinoStats is always under 50% when BatteryStatus' is maxed out at 100%.

I have a probleme with My SPV M600. I have the shutdown probleme with the power button. So I install the Fix_off_Button.cab but It broke my battery. If Fix_off_Button.cab is installed my phone doesn't show anymore the battery status.
Any fix for this ?

Engel: Uninstall the Button Fix Thing from Remove Programs and it will put it back to the way it was...

I installed the same ROM (NB_Update_nghianga) and it's working fine (knock on wood).

I have a G3 Prophet.

The only issues so far are:

No MMS (installable?)
No T9 SIP (installable)
Battery seems to last a bit less than usual (worries me)

I put my usb cable in the device and as expected it looks like if it is charging, but after 10 minutes the battery level went down.

I removed the usb cable, installed XDADev_battfix.cab and put the usb cable back in. And after 5 minutes the battery level went up! After 30 minutes my phone is fully charged!

Yes, i'm having the same situation with 'Prophet_2007 update Full N2N (20-02-2007).exe' upgrade to my PDA.
It will always stops at the Color screen of bootloader, no matter how many time of hard-reset or re-installations.

Anyway, i found a transformation from WM5 to WM6 which can be downloaded here (http://www.mobiletopsoft.com/board/1872/transform-your-wm5-device-to-looks-like-wm6-crossbow.html). I installed to my PDA, it's great and stable! Enjoy!!!

P.S.: I extracted the missing reg entrys and made a reg file.
Change the soundfix.reg.txt to a reg file and import on your ppc. Change the other file to wav and copy to your windows folder. Open Sound options an then the second register. Don't change anything, press ok and reboot. That's it. The missing systemsound shoul work now

I have the same experience with this wm6 rom. By far the best I have tried. The only thing I can complain about is the commmanager background that is plain blue. ;-)

Just some minor bugs i have find after using few days:

1> calculator seems not working, it can opne but when i want to do a math and press those button, fault occur saying exception error...

2> lost of start up password.. just lost but not return to default vaule (which is blank), the only way to recovery that is to hard reset my machine... the situation seems come when battery low plus a soft reset... i am not sure about it but thats the situation before i lost my start up password

Wm6 gave my Jamin a new life.

Had a series of problems with my new Imate Jamin:
like SD card disappearing/reappearing at any time,
screen going blank full white,
windows screen took about 5 minutes to appear after imate's blue logo.

Installed WM6/ Crossbow for prophet ("NB Update nghianga")
and the problems seems to have dissappeared. Boots up with normal speed (few seconds) after reset,
SD card looks stable.
seems to have have some minor problems.
1) Battery draining fast, applied tweaks and waiting to see how it goes.
2) Bluetooth works after installing patches WM6_VC_BT_Fix.cab & OBEX_Bluetooth_file_transfer.cab
3) Live messenger not connecting, identifies wrong password that means its connecting,with correct password gives error about service and bad reception and doesnt login.

Do a soft Reset and then delete "oldpim.vol", you will find also a new "pim.vol" that is with new db version.

I tested the ROM and the look and fell is really nice (thanks nghianga) and there are some minor issues but for one main issue is the password is lost in som cases while doing a soft reset.
I reflashed my phone 3 times and the issue is the same.
The only way to recover is a hard reset.
This make this version of ROM unusable if you want to protect your phone with a PIN.

I installed this rom, since it is the only wm6 rom that I can install. I installed this rom starting from a factory released 2.20 rom. Here are a few problems.
1) error message that timewizard.exe can't be started, i csan't find any relation pointing to this app
2) IRDA (infrared) does not work, same problem as in the aku 3.3.b1 jesterz rom
3) Photocontacts pro does not work properly
4) I can add my BT headset, bt it doesn;t work with my phone
5) SMS backp doesn't work ( also not in aku 3.3 b1)
6) a number of other apps don't work (calendar+ for instance).
7) Sync with outlook doesn't work, even more after my first try to sync, all contacts, phone history and speed dial gone!

Do we have to wait for a better rom or has anyone found soltions?

This problem can normally be cured with a hard reset, or a down conversion back to a 2.2 rom, and then an upgrade again, make sure you follow instructions after rom install about hard reset and both buttons

I have a problem after upgrade to WM6.

The installation hung @ 92% the computer kept on going until 100% but device was still stuck on 92% until it ran out of battery power (was 100% full).

I can connect to the device trying to download a new rom on it but this is the error message I am getting right now:

ERROR [300] : INVALID UPDATE TOOL

This update utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone please get a newer update utility.

The version which is in the upper bar is: V2.5.2

Can someone advise me what to do? Is there a newer version of the update tool which can be used in combination with the new WM6 file or do I need to downgrade or something? I am not a noob @ flashing etc. but I am a bit confused now ;)

Probably you are in the bootloader screen... and so you should re-flash your rom . You can download some good roms form this site if you want (from the section "wiki")

The HTC Wizard allready had multiple variations of WM6.0. The most stable ROM at the moment seems to be "The Most Beautiful" edition. I've tried it on a Wizard and it looks very good!

Hi, you don't need this software. if you use psShutXP for the softreset, the mail, bt, QPRS and wifi don't desapear the configurations, but if you use the pen on the hole for softreset sometimes you lose all configurations

You are right. To my knowledge I think you loose all the messages etc. from the time you've last soft resetted your device using a programm like psShutXP ;)

I have been using this WM6 ROM for a week now and I have to say that I am more then happy.

It took me an entire evening and night to get it installed. At first my device did not boot at all anymore (was stuck in the first splash screen (the one that comes before the windows one)).

I tried several things like dumping the .nbf into various different upgrading tools. Got all the error messages that you find in this thread before one of the actions seemed to work (I flahsed using the ASREG 0.7 WM5 AKU 3.3. flash tool. Then I was stuck in the bootloader screen. Tried again, no luck at all. Then I had to find a tool which would flash a rom from the bootloader status (no active sync available) I reflashed with a no-id wwe Dopod rom which put live into my Prophet again.

I then tried the flash operation again using the shell tool described some where else on this site and yeeeeeeeeeh it worked!!
Of course I first had a shitty battery problem, but that one resolved itself in a day or so. It even got better when I also reflashed the RADIO ROM to 02.47.21.

The ROM is fast and stable but I miss the following:
Being able to use hotmail (the live shit does not work at all (it works like a charm on my WM6 Universal).
There is no indication of BT being on (no icon), just the blue flashing led.
Cannot get the connectivity icon in the task bar at the bottom of the home screen.

I tested the ROM and the look and fell is really nice (thanks nghianga) and there are some minor issues but for one main issue is the password is lost in som cases while doing a soft reset.
I reflashed my phone 3 times and the issue is the same.
The only way to recover is a hard reset.
This make this version of ROM unusable if you want to protect your phone with a PIN.

If you plan to use it with a password or pin to lock your phone, then you will have to be very cautious with this issue.

I wasn't able to change the keyboard to qwertz with the built-in stuff, but I installed something called CalliGrapher (http://rapidshare.com/files/2081066/...rapher_8.4.rar).

With it and the Calligrapher Germanpack (http://rapidshare.com/files/2081036/Calligrapher_Germanpack.rar) you get qwertz working. Also worth mentioning is that the german pack comes with a German dictionary for word completion...

i have the same problem. My Today Plugin for MN6 is lost after Reset. Also i cant get a Internet connection via Cellular Line (GPRS). With WM5 i startet my internet explorer, and my pda made a connection with gprs. Now i cannot get a connection if i go to : Start->Settings->Connections->Connections->Manage existing Connections-> rightclick and connect (but then nothing happens). Im sure i have the correct setings for Proxy..etc..Does anyone have an Idea`? The connection was build automatically when i clicked on "Send/Receive" (in my email account), too.
The Tipp with executing welcome.exe ( two files who seems to be missing) doesn't work..:-(....

I used a software called Morange which is a .jar file on my devise before with wm5 but now the midlmanager is no more :( can I install it again on wm6 and where could I get it?

Just flash a 2.20 version ROM (if you don't have already one on your device) then then extract the downloaded WM6 ROM ZIP/RAR-file and connect your device to the USB cable and double click "upgrade.bat" of the extracted WM6 ROM folder.

and please try the search function and take sometime to read through the different WM6 ROM threads. It's really really simple... no rocket science ;)

If you read, not only the wiki, but a few threads related to upgrades, you'll see many people with almost bricked devices. That's one reason (and I guess the more important) why I answered you this. You really can easily brick your ppc if you decide to do something that you're not fully informed about... I'm a comp. tech, but I've read A LOT (really !!) before deciding to actually do something with my pda.... and I was definitely right :)
For example, I (and I'm not the only one..) had some hardware problems after upgrading to WM6, and that's not so worthy, believe me.... My ppc had to go back to warranty, and I wouldn't want to be the guy who give such step-by-step instructions on "how to ruin your device" when you don't exactly understand what you're doing, and how to escape if something goes wrong.

Please, read the thread, because there are many ways to upgrade, and you'll have to choose the one which is appropriate for YOU. That's quite the same about ROMs, which are not officials, which often contain bugs or uncomplete params, init, etc.

MY advice, if you don't get what you read, don't upgrade :p

Define "safe" ?
Both AKU 3.x and Crossbow do NOT have official roms for prophet, so that should tell you something.

I think as long as I dont miss calls (after all it is a phone) I will live with some of the bugs in these roms.

- You haven't searched for Aserg, hell, it's even in the top threads of the Prophet Upgrading section!

People please do some research before asking the same questions 1000.000 times! It keeps the threads clean from all the "nonsense". And you and everybody else will be able to find the information faster ;)

Has any one found a fix for the pin lock issue with this. on a g4 prophet it randomly locks you out and says you have netered the wrong pin. Other people on this post have had it so i know its not just my memory failing me again. Can anyone even suggest an alternative lock programme. i love the rom but also love locking my handset so if it gets nicked all my details are safe. I have searched but cant find a solution that definetly works. also i am sure this happens without the battreies running out.

try the password 4321 (or 54321) that was the default password.

Inteks has introduced a tool to freely assign button 1 and 2.
It works with Aserg's 3.3.13 rom and combines the functionality of alt-tab (task-switcher), powerstatus (battery and memory status in 1 pixel line in top of toolbar) and smartskey (overclocking, volume-slider to scroll in apps).
On top of that three extra virtual softbuttons (long press left and right softbutton) freely assignable, and end-call button (task switch and/of close)plus application based overclocking.
It uses 24kB ram(!), 1.5MB rom and is still beta, but a definite must-have.

I set Prophet to tri-color screen, hooked up an USB cable (ActiveSync 4.5 from MS). It installed ! I spent about 3 nights (and days) to load back all the softwares and contacts (backup didn't work). I've been using WM6 for about 3 weeks. Everything seems fine except Windows Live and some minor functions missing here and there but overall didn't bug me. I took that back, I almost threw my prophet on the floor and stumped on it. What the nasty bug (?) was if you set a password (simple 4 numbers) for the phone during installation or later, after you did a backup (Spb Backup), the machine won't recognize your password again and got locked out. I had to hard reset the machine and which was rather difficult once the machine denies the password 3 times. Of course, I had to redo or re-install a lot of stuffs again. That happened to me twice and now I am scare to put a password for the machine.

What that meant was the ROM I got was not from here. mhhhhh....
