hi, i've had my p4350 for a few weeks now. first pocket pc so bear with my newbie-ness.

i want to replace the \windows\welcomehead.96.png with my own image. i've looked around these forums and elsewhere and have tried following all of the instructions but nothing is working.

basically no matter what i do, i cannot get the phone to place an updated version of the file in the the \windows directory.

the original image is in ROM but i've been reading that if use Total Commander and follow a series of steps to create the file, place it in the storage card of my device, set +r +s +h attributes on the file and then copy it over to \windows it should work.

instead i can't get Total Commander to actually set the attributes to system and hidden, only read-only. and when i attempt to move the file to it's designated location, i just get error messages saying the file can't be moved or copied.

any pointers? or did HTC change something with this phone model that will make it impossible to use this way.

Hi,
If the splash screens are in ROM by default you will not be able to do anything to replace them unless you edit the ROM. There are ways to do this and it is a question I shall be posing in the Upgrading section of this forum.

Let's see if someone cannot give us the steps...

All the best,
Sam.
