Universal Broadcomm Stack (Test)
This is an earlier stage of porting Broadcomm Stack to universal device so something might not work, or not work very good...hopes that I didn't forgot something... and dont expect everything to be perfect... its still on test stage...
Tested Operation (On My AKU3.5/Crossbow):
- Headset/Handsfree (Tested With Nokia BH700)
- A2DP (Tested With My PC)
- File Transfer (Tested With Nokia phones, Desktop PC, PocketPC, HP Ipaq)
- Networking / LAN Access with my pc
- Bluetooth ActiveSync
- Bluetooth Serial Port
- Business Card Exchange (Object Push)
- Connect to internet via other Mobile Phone (BT DUN With Nokia 6165i CDMA Phone)
Untested operation:
- Bluetooth SAP Profile (Broadcom Version)
- Bluetooth PAN Profile
The instalation is quite complicated a bit, I've already talk with vijay about this,
hopes that he'll come out with app that will switch between the two stack only with soft-reset (app that will read *.ini input is enough, or read *.reg is more cool), cos My v1.1 crossbow is hv this stack built in (Dual bluetooth stack capability), u just need to activate it, so user might switch between the two stack easily with softreset only.
Instalation:
1. Install SIGN_UNIBR176.0500.CAB
2. Restart.
Uninstall:
1. Install ActivateMSBT.CAB FIRST.
2. Restart
3. Uninstal/remove Broadcomm Stack.
I need everyone to be involved with this one... any input is more then welcome... lets work together guys and make this stack better...

I still need couple of files, Anyone have T830 rom dump??

If it also work on my AKU3.3 for Apache then maybe I'll built in ROM in my next Apache Custom rom, thats will be cool, with ability to switch between stack, but I just can't find time to create the switching app...:)

Ok, try this workaround on your Apache.
Stop the radio. Wait a few seconds to make sure it is really off. Start the BT radio. Mine comes up fine. Start the phone radio back up.
If you do this right after you get the memory error, open Comm Manager. If there is not an X on the BT button, click it to release the MS stack's hold on the BT radio. Turn off the phone radio, start the BT radio and then restart the phone radio. You can then close (not just minimize) the Comm Manager. Open Comm Manager again and you will see that it's showing that BT is on.
I'm getting pretty consistent starts with this method.

Nice work, as far as I have tested I can tell:
- Environment: WM6 (build 20061231)
- Networking/LAN works very nice, I have connected to my home web and mail services.
- Unsigned cab won't install.
- Very nice and useful applications.
- While keeping two connections (activesync and PAN) to two different computers performance decreases a lot. (might be hardware limitation rather than software problem?, I will perform some more tests.)
- Headset (Jabra BT800) pairs nicely, plays standard audio but I haven't managed to get calls through it, no call list, etc. The outgoing connection is established but no "phone" functionality.
I will try tomorrow to make it work with my GPS and TT6.
Again nice work and thanks for everything!
UPDATE: Headset is now almost working, I can browse last calls and make outgoing calls but no incoming call is routed to my Jabra...I'll keep trying :)

The user interface looks cool, connection with BT headset is OK but when I make a call, no sound directs to the BT headset, sound go thru phone speakers or somtime muted? then the BT headset just produce the strange noise. Hi
Have come to the understanding that the OS X stacks lacks the PAN services so I was stumped with regards connecting to the web using the combination of the MS stack on the universal and the stack on OS X
Currently running the 1.31 helmi_c aku 3.5 rom (vanilla).
So I was kinda hoping the broadcomm stack would allow me to BT DUN just like the old days.
I have tried with the usual dial strings *99# but have so far been unsuccessful
I have however managed to browse my universal using the built in os x browse device tool.
Will try again tomorrow with a fresh head under windows xp to see if i can get different/better results.
Thanks again

Everything sounds perfect but only one issue to me is UI language. After rebooting, I found the UI is in German (I guess). My only foreign language is English, so I have to guess what's meaning of every word. This is really a little bit difficult to me.
Is this package multi-language enabled? Is it due to setting? My universal is haveing the WM6 English platform with Chinese font/IME customized. So the defaultLCID setting is 804 instead of 409. Is this the reason?
Anybody please advise.

Hi Helmi,
Just trying your BT hack, on my Wizard, to see if there is any difference with the Axim and Superdave's(ONLY on the a2dp side as that is my main goal, mine and a few more other guys..) This is what I found:
BTW, Yours can be turned on and off easily after following peetking's instructions(port number 1 and baudrate set to 115200)
1) Yours does not mute the main speakers after the initial soft reset(yet..). I got to dial out and wait for dial tones before I can get my main speakers to have sound again on the other two stack. Kudus to you!!
2) This is the dissappointing part, after connecting to my Itech S35 and overclocking my Wizard to 260Mhz(via Battery Status), I can get skipless high quality stereo with the other two stack. On yours, I can only get 1 second of sound and that's it. (Menneisyys, any ideas from you?)
I am just wondering if there is any dll that I can take from the Axim/Hermes hack that can fix your hack for the Wizard and wahlah... a working A2DP hack(for us A2DP addicts) for Widcomm on the Wizard...

Eugene

yes, cos basicaly this stack is taken from German Fujitsu Siemens T830, so the native language will be german if ur LCID is difference then 0409, but here's a simple trick...
copy and then rename the files:
btrez.dll.0409.mui >> btrez.dll.0804.mui
BTRezAV.dll.0409.mui >> BTRezAV.dll.0804.mui
BTRezHID.dll.0409.mui >> BTRezHID.dll.0804.mui

Hi helmi!
Many thanks for the stack... I installed on pdaviet 2.00.04 pro pv without problems.
But when I start a call using the paired HBH-300 bt headset I have to press the call button on headset in order to hear the sound. After the call the line between the headset and the Uni is still alive... I have to disconnect them.
So far I can n ot use this stack because my priority is making calls and MS stack does it automatically.
Anyway thank you once more for hard work... keep it up.

In addition to my attempts in trying to establish a DUN connection using OS X and my universal running Helm's 1.3.1 vanilla rom I tried using an installation of Windows XP today.
No joy there either.
in fact the Broadcomm BT Manager does not show any connected devices during the attempt to connect via BT DUN.
On a lighter note, I had no problem connecting my universal to my Haicom BT GPS device using TT6.
The ROM's sweet, the stack beautiful but the killer app/aspect of the stack for me is DUN.
May have to hit google for info on OS X and BT PAN . . . .
I thank you :)

there's some registry hack for route the BT with MS Voice Commander...
try this..

Also the core audio driver is missing! I've checked for the devices, btcedrivers.dll and few other related files are missing after uninstallation. Re-installation of new stack doesn't work. :p

hmm...
For porting this stack to other device U need to learn the device COM driver status, and the device Bluetooth type and port...
check the:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active]
and see what COM is occupied, and what COM is free.
then U need to modify as needed. and Also what ur BT com port Number and TYPE (BRF or COM or USB)
for example (HTC ARTEMIS, WIZARD):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\HCILL]
"Index"=dword:1
"name"="COM1:"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial_BTUR]
"Prefix"="COM"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\Seria lTransport]
"Port"=dword:4
"Device"="COM"
for bluetooth serial4 & serial5 after u consult ur device HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active
u might need to modify some reg:
SERIAL4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Servi ces\0001]
"ComPortNumber"=dword:00000004
and
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial4]

SERIAL5
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Appli cations\0001]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial5]
"DeviceArrayIndex"=dword:00000005
"FriendlyName"="Bluetooth Serial Port COM5:"
"Index"=dword:00000005
change both COM acording to ur device spesific/Free com port.
and also u might need to check this reg:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Gener al]
"OriginalAudioDriver"="wavedev.dll"
if ur device wavedev driver is not wavedev.dll, change wavedev driver to ur original original wavedev driver name (dll) for example "OriginalAudioDriver"="pxa27x_wavedev.dll" for Asus525 device.
and lastly check the:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\Gener al]
"PowerControlLibrary"="LGBTPwrCtrl.dll"
"RadioInitPostLoadScript"="Init_Rom_v316.bts"
on some device u better use this configuration
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\Gener al]
"PowerControlLibrary"="Auto"
"RadioInitPostLoadScript"="Auto"
or try other BTS file (include in setup CAB)
cos I dont think change:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\Seria lTransport]
"BaudRate"=dword:e1000
is neccesary if ur default BT speed is also E1000/921000, but u just need correct BTPower dll..
and about Routing audio to handsfree its device spesific, Some Use AudioGW.dll some Use PCM Routing, Some Use RILProxy, as u can see, the setup cab contain thoose 3 method (AudioGW.DLL, HTC_PCM_ROUTING.DLL,and BTRILProxy.dll) u just need to modify the reg to suite ur device need, cos I dont hv all that device, I just provide the file, so the setub cab should be ready to port to other device (with patch cab for other device?)... currently activated method is AudioGW cos Uni use audiogw method.
for BTRil method add thefolowing registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\BtRilProxy]
"DeviceArrayIndex"=dword:00000001
"Dll"="BtRilProxy.dll"
"FriendlyName"="BT RIL Interface on BTR1:"
"Index"=dword:00000001
"Order"=dword:00000001
"Prefix"="BTR"
for PCM method add/change the following reg:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WIDCOMM\Plugin\HandsFr ee]
"AudioSetupDll"="\\Windows\\HTC_PCM_Routing.dll"
and
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Gener al]
"PCMRouting"=dword:00000001
hopes that I didn't forget something...:)

Oppss.......I can't test it. It looks something is wrong with the installer/uninstaller. I've uninstalled your test stack. But Mr. Gates stack is not started after reset. Also the core audio driver is missing! I've checked for the devices, btcedrivers.dll and few other related files are missing after uninstallation. Re-installation of new stack doesn't work. :p
Hmmmmmm.....I've to do a hard reset....to check.....
hmm... u just need to run ActivateMSBTStack.cab to no activate BroadComm stack and enable MS one..
yes, the installer/Uninstaller is a mess...lol... sorry about that, but In my cb 1.1 this both stack is built in and seems Install/Uninstall process is better...I just cant find time to develop app to switch between 2 stack, so ability to hv dual bluetooth stack with more user friendly method still not available... It should be as simple as reseting the device to switch between the two stack..

In my headset:
Double push headset button >> Dial last call/last misscall.
Push And hold >> Route any audio/call to headset.
so in ur situation u just need to push and hold the headset button if u dial from ur phone not from ur headset.
Ok, I've just tested it with a fresh installation. No luck, audio is not redirecting to headset.

Anyone got a solution to the DUN aspect of this stack yet?
Have tried under OS X and XP to make a connection with no success.
With regards internet sharing, how does that work over usb?
Does it become a new network connection within the system network prefs?
Do I need to set anything up on the client (XP) to make the connection?

Anyone got a solution to the DUN aspect of this stack yet?
I'd REALLY welcome such a hack too - now that headsets also work, it's only DUN functionality that is missing.
As this ROM is based on that of the DUN-enabled T830, unlike the Axim ROM (which is based on the Acer n311 / WM5 hx4700 ROM, both lacking the DUN server profile), it MIGHT be possible to enable DUN on exactly this ROM rip. The Acer n311 / WM5 hx4700 ROM lacks the necessary DUN DLL files; I've tried very hard to enable the DUN profile on it by importing the related registry keys / values from a WM2003SE Pocket Loox 720 Registry (WM2003SE Widcomm PPC devices still offered the DUN server profile).
With regards internet sharing, how does that work over usb? Does it become a new network connection within the system network prefs? Do I need to set anything up on the client (XP) to make the connection?
Nopoe, no need to install anything. Please read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282780
EDIT: I've installed the BT stack. It does have the DUN profile; that is, there's no need to make it enabled, unlike what I've suggested above. It, however, indeed doesn't work upon trying to connect (I've REALLY thoroughly tested this). Hope Helmi comes up with a solution :)

I've thoroughly tested the cooperation of the headset and the A2DP mode: with the MS BT stack, A2DP automatically stops upon incoming calls and, of course, you can use your stereo headphones to conduct phone calls. Not here: the speaker / mike wasn't re-routed to the headphones in calls. (Albveit connecting the headset did work and playkng system sounds / low-quality music did work too - unlike with the non-tweaked Widcomm headsets running on other HTC models).
Did anyone else run into this problem? Any solution to it?

My problem is the opposite, on my wizard, I cannot receive files sent through bluetooth from a Sony Ericson K750i and a Motorola E398... however, I can browse both phones via bluetooth! That's the only way I can get files from the phones.
BTW, Menneisyys, still trying the subbands and linespeed. I did a huge jump(backwards) to 100(linespeed) and the skipping goes but the quality is horrible. Anyway, still got to test it out again, in a more orderly manner. However, what still vexes me is, why I can listen to high quality music, at the settings at best values linespeed at around 320 and the subbands and blocks at 16 and 4(or the other way round) using the Axim Widcomm hack but not on Helmi's...

I tried broadcom, BT headset stops working after 10 seconds on the call, does not answer, etc. Same as others.
As a work around, Phone Alarm has a way to execute programs with a profile change. I personally would want to use the MS BT until GPS is needed. If we make an EXE out of the CABs helmi_c made.. That may work.
Also, PocketZenPhone lets you choose if you want to activate MS BT or Broadcom Stack in each profile. (I have not got that to work yet and I can not even get the old default MS BT stack to go back, Yes I am using CABs)
I will uninstall PocketZenPhone and keep trying..
No one else is having trouble going back and forth, right?

I would like to say thanks to helmi_c for making this broadcomm BT stack to universal! a lot more better than the ms one!
It works nicely, just one strange thing in my device. I tried to send a file from PC, when finished, suddenly a dialog appeared "Not enough storage is abailable to complete this operation" (even there's still a lot of free space available). Surprisingly, the file was stored in /Application Data/Volatile. Anyone know why?
Edit : I've managed to edit the registry and found it, HKLM\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\Locations\0000\Services\0002 Inbox Directory. changed it to \Storage Card\, file saved succesfully to storage card but the error message still appears.
Now another problem again -_-' : Can't send file with Resco File Explorer via BT (says "Can't Connect") But the MS' File explorer can. Can anybody help me?

i have the problem, My resco explorer will tell me Cant connect. it does find the device though. And i can recieve files from other devices.
The other thing is the ms File explorer would send few files, and then suddenly i got funny message saying THIS DEVICE DOES NOT OFFER ANY USEFUL SERVICES, CHOOSE ANOTHER DEVICE. this is after the same device hac just recieved few files before.
I had to uninstall the broadcom stack unfortunately, coz it really is much better then MS one. But after an uninstallation, and reactivating the MSBT.cab, my resco was telling me to f..off by giving an error: NO BT STACK
Basicaly i end up hard reseting to get things back to normal. SHAME THOUGH

Before I carry on rambling, Helmi, can you tell me where you get your information about the bluetooth stack's registry settings? Right now, I am really confused as to the behaviour of your widcomm/broadcomm stack as compared to Axim and Superdave stack..
The problem I have, seems to be related to some software
installed in my Wizard. Please note though, as I am only testing the AV profile(A2DP)
1) Superdave's stack installed
The good,
a) Good quality stereo at Linespeed=320,
The bad,
b)Initially, after startup, the audio from main speakers are gone. Solution is to dial a number and listen for the dialing tone. Sound goes back to main speakers. However, after a while, speakers are gone again with only sound coming out from phone speaker.
Bummer. I did a backup of this as it stills gives me A2DP when I want it.
2) Axim stack installed. Situation as in Superdave's stack. But I didn't back it up...
3) Helmi's stack. Seems like there is no memory issues and no audio rerouting issue. However, A2DP unusable even after reducing Linespeed down to 100, which gives really crappy sound.
Now the weird stuff...
1) After removing your stack and trying Superdave's OR the Axim stack again, I cannot get the A2DP working anymore...
2) So to check if it is some software which is making it fail, I did a hard reset and then try installing the other two stack again... no good A2DP again.
3) Tried Helmi's stack on a clean install and also same situation...
So, what is going on? broken bluetooth? No...
I restored my backup of Superdave's working A2DP... still good...
Conclusion, I have gone crazy...!!
3) Now, I am trying your stack and it works so far for me, sending and receiving files but NOT for A2DP. Good thing is, there is no memory error even after a few days.

Now for a small problem:
I've enable the BroadComm stack and it happens that when I pair the device with the hands-free built-in my car (Renault Laguna), if I try to dial from the device there is no sound coming from the speakers. On the other hand if I dial from the hands-free system, the connection and the sound are perfect.
The down side of this is that I cannot have all my contacts stored in the hands-free memory and so when I need to dial, I have to check the number on the device and then dial in the hands-free...It's quite a hassle!
This did not happen with the previous M$ Stack...
Is there any solution for this?

Thanks Helmi for the greatest BT stack!! The sound quality is awesome! But I have a minor problem about the stack, I experience sound droppings every few mins. I think it may due to too high bitrate for the channel, are there any registry tweak to solve the problem? Thanks a lot.

Hi all,
Think I found a little bug, don't no if it's important?
If I start bluetooth by Broadcomm with the desktop shortcut it works just fine and it closes as well, but than when I look at the Comm manager the bluetooth button is still activated, is this a bug, does it take battery consumption?

Ok I've used the BT stack for some time now.
My 2 cents:
I just uninstalled it.
At first it seems like it was working great. Pairing with devices was not a problem, also the BT manager was working correctly.
The only thing I had was when I push my headset button the voicedailer comes (like MS) but after that the connection stays there. I have to push the headset button again to disconnect it.
Biggest problem was I couldn't answer any phone calls. When the phone rang the headset would ring 2. But pushing the button would switch the audio to the headset. By that time ppl tend to hang up because it takes too long.
This weekend I had problems with the stack. After phoning with someone and I hang up with the headset button the phone freezes up for a few seconds.
Also the headset can't connect to the phone anymore. Not even through the manager.
I have to switch off BT and switch it on again. This seems to occur after every connect/disconnect from a call, very annoying.
I'm not sure if I had this problem before, I think it was working better in the beginning.
Just some feedback, keep up the good work.
I must admit i'm starting to hate BT (on my uni, or in general).
If it was working like it should I wouldn't complain.
But half of the time my headset wouldn't ring with a incomming call and I had to answer it first on the phone itself and then switch it to the headset later.
connection seems to be very unreliable. Sometimes the headset connect instantly, sometimes when I press the button it beeps and it needs to ofind the phone first or something.
I'm not sure but I think I've read somewhere that it had something to do with the BT switching off when the phone goes out of standy.
So whenever your phone suspends the BT keeps blinking, but when someone calls you the screen turns on, the device comes active and the BT then resets or something. Would explain the problem with not getting calls on my headset.

Hi,
Same problem here.
I use the Jabra BT320s, A2DP is working fine, but I didn't manage to make a telephone call true the headset. When a call is comming in the music stops but I hear nothing on the headset, also I noticed that the speaker on the Universal is activated, and I can hear the person speak through the speaker. What I also tryed is that I paired the Headset twice, one for the High quality audio and one for Handsfree profile (same device), this doesn't work either! About the speed, here I have an issue too, sometimes the speed is ok, sometimes the speed changes. Going to check if I can fix that with the Speed program.
Anyway, thanks for your explanation.
Leo :)
I have installed the Broadcomm Stack, and I cannot get handsfree or activesynch to work at all. I have two headsets Jabra BT800 and a Motorola HT800, as well as Bluetooth in my car. First I had an issue with the speed (the BT Speed program fixed that). I can pair and connect (all looks ok in the BT Manager), the A2DP works on the Motorola HT800 and my phonebook dowloads in the car, but the hansfree doesn't work at all on either headset or in the car. I can connect to my computer and Activesync starts on the computer and tries to connect, but the Activesync on the Universal doesn't seem to recognize that there is a connection.

Hi Helmi,
I hope you can answer this for me. It seems that most guys here have no problem with A2DP because they are using a Universal(I am testing this on my Wizard).
Obviously, this stack is aimed at the Universal. Therefore, could it be that the bluetooth drivers are expecting a faster proccesor which is present in the Uni and not the much much slower one on the Wizard?
Can you give some opinion on this?

Hi,
Same problem here.
Leo :)
The same to my Sony Ericsson DS970.

im trying to uninstall the stack as explained:
installed the ActivateMSBT.cab
tried to uninstall the broadcom stack
restarted
broadcom stack still there.
the icon is gone, but when i choose Bluetooth Settings through the Comm manager - it gives me the old broadcom settings instead of the MS settings.
the broadcom installation is still even on the "Remove programs" list.
what should i do? i dont want to hard reset just because of this.
and i can't live with the new stack either because its hanging up my calls in my BT handsfree in my car when i press the send button.
helmi, please help?
other than that, great work. i really appreciate your efforts on the universal.
not even thinking about installing any other rom than helmi's. its just great.

can anyone built app that will read/manipulate registry with *.ini/*.xml files? for example:
[registryadd]
HKLM\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig
[registrydelete]
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth
[registryrename]
HKLM\Software\Widcomm,HKLM\Software\@Widcomm
[copyfile]
\Windows\Bluetooth Manager.lnk,\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Bluetooth Manager.lnk
[delfile]
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Bluetooth Manager.lnk
etc...something like that...
or maybe app that will dynamically change the registry depends on device type, (read the registry / get device type), then load the configuration with ini/inf file (broad_enable_wiz200.ini, broad_disable_wiz200.ini,broad_enable_pu10.ini, etc) ... if so, we'll might hv a multi device capable/switchable broadcomm stack... but offcourse it will need cross platform developers involved... welll.. just an idea...:)

Hi Helmi,
I was, hoping partially you will say this, as it should work no matter the CPU speed. Like I mentioned before, the axim and superdaves' hack works well for A2DP but have memory leak issues. Yours have not memory leak issues but cannot work for A2DP even with the old settings. Now I can't even get the previous two hacks to work anymore. Something in my Wizard settings...
BTW, I don't think there is a Wizard development link in this forum. Anyway, if there is, it's not active... as I go through the "NewPosts" search every chance I get..
thanks for your efforts, very much appreciated.

Few problems with this..
Voice Command starts when i press the button on my Jabra BT500v which is nice.
But, for some reason my Voice Command doesn't like to announce anything after i installed this stack, which sucks ..
And the second problem is that audio doesn't always come from anywhere, even thought i just have the "use for phone calls" thing on the ringing tone doesn't sound from the phone after one phone call (it doesn't auto-release the sound or something)
And it's pretty irritating that i cant use the handsfree button to answer in any mode :(

Hi ,
i have the same experience with my Nokia HS-12W :((((( I set up the the Headset in the Buetooth manager's Hands-free preferences for "Telephone calls" only.And I set up this headset as preferred hands free. Now, when the phone rings i hear the sound on the phone only. I can pick up the phone ONLY ONT THE PHONE, and if i want to use my headset i have to press the redirect button on the headset which enables the sound on it and after that the sound is only on the headset. (so the bluetooth stack does not switch automatically to the phone). Okay, i could live with that, because this bluetooth stack is the best i have ever seen, the sound quality, no gaps..... What is more annoying is that after i finish the call all the sounds of the phone (EVERYTHING(music,notifications, non-phone related audio....etc.)) is coming trough the headset ONLY. And i can't use even the headset's redirect button to switch the sound back to the phone. The only thing which works:
1.)press the redail button on the headset, wait until the phone
starts to call
2.)press the end-call button on the headset.(you can do it
before the first ring)
In this case after the call ends, the phone(or the headset) hangs up the connetion between the phone and the headset, and now every sound is on the phone again.
PLEASE,PLEASE try to find out how to fix it, because it makes this stack in "real life" almost unusable,but i don't want to give up this stack, because the many many goooood feauteres it has.

HELMI and Others!
Oh, boys i am so disappointed You can't imagine. I hope that it is me who has done something wrong and you will help me. I tried to pair my HOLUX GPSlim236 with my UNI using this stack. It was sucessfull but i can't use my IGO navigation software(i hope you know it) because IGO can't find the paired GPS receiver. I think i have tried everything. I have already hardreset my device and installed the IGO only and the Widcomm stack. I paired only the HOLUX device. I unchecked the Authorization and Authent. boxes, i checked that HOLUX is selected as the default outgoing serial connection. And the outbound port is defined to COM4. If i connect to the GPS receiver via Bluetooth manager, it works. If i start IGO it does not recognize the GPS receiver.If i minimize IGO and check connection in the the Bluetooth manager it says that the receiver is not connected(i connected it before i started IGO). If i tray to connect it again, it works, but if i maximize IGO again, IGO still does not find the GPS receiver and if i check the connection it disconnected again :( It seems, if i start IGO the connection is somehow lost :( I tried already do a hard reset install the MS stack, and it works. But it is sucks if i want to hear music or use my BT headset :( But without navigation sw, i cant't live. PLESAE,PLEASE HELP ME SOMEHOW :(

Hi Helmi,
I have to change the CoD of my Universal for the following reason: I want to pair with my car system (Mercedes W211) with SAP. Unfortunately the car systems seems to search for mobile phones only, not for Computer/Handheld.
I only found an entry in the registry for the minor number, but not for the major number or the service. I have to set the CoD to 0x52020C.
Where can I do this in the broadcom stack?

I've tried this stack on an Apache running Helmi's AKU 3.5 ppcgeeks R3.
Problems with activesync running over bluetooth, and no PAN, but with a Toshiba stack on my notebook, BT DUN seems to be working just fine.
Other problems are likely resource conflicts that need to be resolved in the registry. Does anyone know if there is a utility for WM5 that functions like "Device Manager" in Win XP to help map out resource usage and conflicts?
(I'm very new to Windows Mobile)

I've thoroughly tested the cooperation of the headset and the A2DP mode: with the MS BT stack, A2DP automatically stops upon incoming calls and, of course, you can use your stereo headphones to conduct phone calls. Not here: the speaker / mike wasn't re-routed to the headphones in calls. (Albveit connecting the headset did work and playkng system sounds / low-quality music did work too - unlike with the non-tweaked Widcomm headsets running on other HTC models).
Did anyone else run into this problem? Any solution to it?
Hi, i have the same problem with my i-tech blueband R too.
I connect the headset to both the profile, handsfree and high quality audio. When i am playing music in the high quality audio, the call come in and it seem that the stack is not able to switch to the handsfree profile. Press the call answer button cannot recieve the call.
Even if i just using the headsfree connection, the answer call button oso dun seem to work.

The headset profile is also not working correctly in the one bundled with Helmi CB 1.1
Like i connect my Blueband R as a headset, when a call come in, press the "answer call" button, but it does not responds. Must press the "answer" button from the phone then the call will connect, it seem to render handsfree useless.
The profile also does not auto switch, when connected as stereo bt and headset profile, when a call come in, it does not switch from stereo bt to headset profile.

Helmi, you're awesome! This has actually fixed my on-going problem with my Jabra BT620s.
I installed your BT stack patch on my Vodafone V1640 (JWright's 2.02.00 ROM, sorry! Had your ROM before trying this new one), and it is pretty much flawless so far: no stuttering every half a second, and no loss in headphone reception when walking around with the Universal in my trouser pocket.
For those who are interested in my story about my Jabra: having failed to get it to work with the WM5 ROMs, I gave up and decided to sell them even though they worked fine with my laptop. Two weeks later the buyer sent it back, saying it produced undesired vibrations with his Nokia phone etc. I was pretty sure they were in fine working order but I accepted the return anyway. 3 weeks later (now) I discovered Helmi's Broadcomm BT stack patch, and the Jabra is now good friends with the Universal. I guess it's fate!
Good work, Helmi!

"Index"=dword:1
"name"="COM1:"
"Prefix"="BRF"
so U need to mod bellow registry to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\Seria lTransport]
"Port"=dword:1
"Device"="BRF"
for Universal, APACHE
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial_BTUR]
"Prefix"="COM"
"Index"=dword:7
so u need to modify:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\Seria lTransport]
"Port"=dword:7
"Device"="COM"
For prophet, XDAIIs
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial_BTUR]/[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Bluetooth]
"Prefix"="COM"
"Index"=dword:4
so u need to modify:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\Seria lTransport]
"Port"=dword:4
"Device"="COM"
for bluetooth serial4 & serial5 after u consult ur device HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active
u might need to modify some reg:
change both COM acording to ur device spesific/Free com port.
and also u might need to check this reg:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Gener al]
"OriginalAudioDriver"="wavedev.dll"
if ur device wavedev driver is not wavedev.dll, change wavedev driver to ur original original wavedev driver name (dll) for example "OriginalAudioDriver"="pxa27x_wavedev.dll" for Asus525 device.
and lastly check the:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\Gener al]
"PowerControlLibrary"="LGBTPwrCtrl.dll"
"RadioInitPostLoadScript"="Init_Rom_v316.bts"
on some device u better use this configuration
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\Gener al]
"PowerControlLibrary"="Auto"
"RadioInitPostLoadScript"="Auto"
or try other BTS file (include in setup CAB)
cos I dont think change:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\Seria lTransport]
"BaudRate"=dword:e1000
is neccesary if ur default BT speed is also E1000/921000, but u just need correct BTPower dll..
and about Routing audio to handsfree its device spesific, Some Use AudioGW.dll some Use PCM Routing, Some Use RILProxy, as u can see, the setup cab contain thoose 3 method (AudioGW.DLL, HTC_PCM_ROUTING.DLL,and BTRILProxy.dll) u just need to modify the reg to suite ur device need, cos I dont hv all that device, I just provide the file, so the setub cab should be ready to port to other device (with patch cab for other device?)... currently activated method is AudioGW cos Uni use audiogw method.
for BTRil method add thefolowing registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\BtRilProxy]
"DeviceArrayIndex"=dword:00000001
"Dll"="BtRilProxy.dll"
"FriendlyName"="BT RIL Interface on BTR1:"
"Index"=dword:00000001
"Order"=dword:00000001
"Prefix"="BTR"
for PCM method add/change the following reg:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WIDCOMM\Plugin\HandsFr ee]
"AudioSetupDll"="\\Windows\\HTC_PCM_Routing.dll"
and
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Gener al]
"PCMRouting"=dword:00000001
hopes that I didn't forget something...:)
Hi everyone,
I know this hack is for Universal, but I saw that people with Wizard
also tried it.
I went over the whole thread.
I tried to install this stack, but although I made the changes to the
registry as you explained (about conflict at serial port 4) and other
changes. I still can't make it work.
I also tried to disable the MS BT stack as it's written in one post, but
didn't have that registry key ... (it says ...\2 , and in the registry
I have ...\1 and ...\3 both have a "driver" with empty string.
Anyway I'm lost here :confused:
It's a shame because everyone on this thread
and other threads say this stack is great and has much better stereo
sound (which is the main reason for my interest).
I have i-mate K-JAM with molski's 2.26 ROM.
What could be the reason for the insufficient driver memory ?
I saw others got that problem as well but I couldn't find any workaround
or fix for that in this thread.
BTW, at the title of the error pop-up is says "BTTrayCE" if it helps ...
I would appreciate it if someone can help ...
Thanks in advance

My Jabra BT620s works fine as stereo headphones, but I can't pick up calls from it (need to actually grab the phone out and speak to it rather than speaking through the Jabra).
The music is also noisy from time to time, especially when there is a lot of instruments playing; I don't get that problem with the Bluetooth on my laptop. Any ideas of what may be causing this?
Otherwise it's fine.

Jasjar with I-mate ROM: 1.30.76 ROM, 1.09.00 Radio
Motorola HT820 headset w/ A2DP
1. a2dp stereo works. QUality is same as MS Stack. Once i started using PDA functions, quality got bad: hissing and background noise. I didnt use Widcomm stack long enough to see if it also has annoying pauses like MS.
2. Could not get the Headset function (for phone calls) to work at all!
There is Headset icon in the title bar.
Pressing phone call button on headset turns on background noise but Voicecommand doesnt activate. Hit button again, it turns off "noise".
Making Outgoing and incoming calls manually: sound does not go to headset, but to phone speakers.
I reverted back to MS stack. At least it works most of the time (A2DP and Headset). I dont care for other bluetooth profiles/functions.
Seems like this stack works only for certain combinations of phones/headsets.

OK, any hope of getting the headset to work? Any ideas? I will do the work and testing. I think my problems with the choppy or feedback filled phone conversations, are caused by the MS BT stack, so, to get a fully functioning broadcomm stack, that will be cool.

Thx for this wonderful update for the bluetooth stack
everything works fine except two things I would like to fix
I have a WM5.
1) I don't have so much space in my Universal so I would like to remove MS Bluetooth stack files if it is possible where are the files to delete ?
2) the second pb is that the answer call of my handset just connects the device as a handset but it does not answer to calls or activate the voice command. what can I do ti fix this ?
Thanks

I get always this error with the Broadcomm BT Stack :mad: (Himalaya w. WM6):
The Bluetooth Radio failed to turn ON due to insufficient driver memory available.
You must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the Bluetooth Radio.

Here's the NEWEST Broadcomm BT Stack v1.8.7.300, which come from the LG KS20
Maybe someone like to do some R&D, and port it to Universal

Hello all
Unfortunately I have the same problem as many who posted above:
Broadcomm-Bluetooth installs and loads fine.
A2DP works great (and in superb audio quality! :) ), but I cannot route phone calls through HandsFree or Headset Profile.
Both my Headsets pair with the Universal (Plantronics 640 and Plantronics 590), but they are not activated when there's a phonecall. Also I cannot accept an incoming call with the call buttons on the headset, these just acticate voice command.
Is there anything I can do about that? I really like the Broadcomm Stack!
Is there anyone still working on this?

Hi,
I had installed this broadcomm stack on my HTC P6300 (Panda).
The installation was completed successfully, but when I try to search a device
using Bluetooth Manager it doesn't find nothing.
What can I do to solve this problem?
Thanks.

i installed it on my advantage 7500, it seems to be working fine except it works as audio gateway (a2dp) and not hands free as i can hear everything perfectly fine from my headset, my headset seems to have no effect on the phone (featers like answering or hanging or redialing are all not working at all, by clicking on my headset i would only rout the audio to it or disable it, could someone tell me what could have gone wrong?
thanks buds

1) There is no way to uninstall the stack at the moment unless I cant find the ActiveBT.cab
2) I tried this stack to use the PAN profile and it is not working!

Bumping an old thread:
I'd like to gather info about successful uses of Handsfree with HTC Universal. I just want to know which ROMs (and WM builds) were used with (or without) luck.
Please, send information, it's important for me.
