2. sometimes when i do soft reset, it freezes on the opening screen and i have to soft reset again to get it to work.

3. my phone calls seems to keep dropping constantly.

first off, make sure your running the 2.19 Tmobile Radio Rom.
Second off, your #2 is what I was experiencing, and your #1 was a common issue as well.

thanks for the rep, golfernutnflorida. i have the mda but is unlocked so im using cingular. so do you think changing the radio rom to 2.19 would make the difference?

Yes, test it and see... the radio rom upgrade doesnt touch the OS so you can always switch around radio's until you find the right one. I stick with 2.19 tho for any rom I run.

Just remembered another tool that was in this ROM. Where can I find the cab file for the ability to put speed dial buttons on the Today screen? I've searched but speed dial is pretty generic and haven't come up with hits. Also didn't see it on the ftp site.

Try DISABLING TodayAgenda. It caused the same problems with my wizard.

Now running WM6 Most Beautiful Edition but I find it a bit slow. Slower than Molski's 2.26 rom that is, even after the usual registry tweaks. Another disappointment is that bluetooth A2DP quality is not improved over AKU 2.2 so I am looking for an AKU 3.3 rom to be able to use the bitpool tweak. The over-the-air sync problem with this rom is still holding me back though. Is there an easy fix in the making? :)

I am having problem with my camera not working at all. When I hit the camera button or open the camera from the programs menu it will just show a picture of my Opera browser. When you exit then the screen turns horizontal mode and gose back and forth until you exit using the call end button.

This is on a 8125 with the T-Mobile Radio installed. Everything else works great just camera dose not work.

Wondering if their is a quick solution to it. I understand its in beta which is fine but really could use it working if theirs a fix for it out.

Hi!

I´m having problems with the keyboard language since upgrading to this ROM.

I have changed the Language in the Reg Wiz but after I apply the changes and the device has been soft reset the language is back to unknown.

I have also checked the register value and it´s set to the correct locale for swedish keyboard.

Any other suggestions?

Anyone else see this?This isn't a ROM issue. The wizard using any ROM get's "stuck" when reset and plugged into power, it is by design.

My MDA was so inconsistant, dropping calls, not ringing, and having issues pulling mail. For about a week, I almost left the MDA for the Blackberry Pearl. I bumped into lvlolvlo's review of this rom, loaded it, and fell in love with my device even stronger than before. Thanks again everyone!

I do however have a question. Now that this rom is stronger than the T-Mo version I was running, I am able to use this device to its full capabilities. I've been searching for a program that works with the 6MB pool, automatically sending an SMS to the caller if I can't answer the phone. I've searched the Wizard forums, and found the FREEWARE thread recommend one, but it prompts me a login in what appears to be German. Is there a recommended program that has a great accuracy to it?

Again, thanks everyone for your input, teachings, and support with me falling in love with my device again. I'll invite everyone to my anniversary party!

This ROM is working great... only been using it for less than 24 hours but it seems like a vast improvement over anything i've used before on here.

Anyone know what is covering my clock though??? I can't see the clock in the upper right of my screen, there's something ontop of it. I can read my CPU speed thats part of the battery plugin though. I can see part of my antenna strength too. resets havn't made it go away, playing with settings on the plugin dont help... what gives?

LVM Time (its what shows the date on the top line of your today screen in this rom) has an option to display the clock and then you probably have the clock set to be displayed by default in your settings. Turn one or the other off and you should fix the clock overlay problem. To turn it off in LVM Time:

start->settings->today->items . Click on LVM Time and then click on options.

RegistryWizard has Taskbar Date/Time set to Nothing by default (Tweaks2 tab). Set it to Time and your clock will be back. Kinda weird how it came back after turning off the SMS sent notification though.

I have installe this ROm, and everything works perfect except now, when someone calls me their Photo is not displayed, and the assigned ringtone is not playing, instead the general ringtone is playing with just a phone number displayed.
Any one has any ide ahow to fix this problem?

I don't know about the photo problem since I don't have any set up but my ringtones are definitely wonky. My ringtones are mp3s located in the root folder of my SD card. They can all be seen in the Ringtone Manager also. However, it seems that each ringtone can only be triggered by one phone number.
ie If a contact has more than one phone number, only the number that is being displayed in the contact list will trigger the ringtone. Or, if more than one contact is assigned the same ring tone, only the first one that is assigned will trigger the ringtone.

I'm pretty sure the SMS and Contact backup that is in AKU 3.3 came on WM6 MBE ROM. Tap on Start and there is a folder in there (I've moved mine all around so don't remember which one) but thats where I remember it being.

If you don't find it, here's the cab (but look first, as I remember installing this cab then finding the ROM already had this on it, just in an odd/unexpected folder in the start menu)

Copy the files onto your desktop and then just rename the file type to that and copy it back and try again, it should work. Cus as i remeber it is the same layout just different file type!!!

Examples:
SIM = John Doe 123 456 7890
Phone = John Doe 123 456 7890
Display comes up as "John Doe"
Custom Ringtone will work

Display comes up as "John D"
Custom Ringtone will NOT work


In general, the Sim Contacts are only hidden but still included in the Contacts List. Unfortunately, deleting the contact from the SIM or renaming the contact is not viable solution for me.

I recall seeing a "Hide SIM Contacts" registry setting but not an "Exclude SIM Contacts" registry setting... I just don't want it to look in the SIM card (or refer to it last) when a call comes in.

Can anyone confirm? I'll run through the whole thread again when I have time but for the time being, off to school I go...

Follow the unlock thread to avoid possible headaches. Most importantly, make sure you have a G3 (way to differentiate also stated in the unlock thread).

After using this rom from Fariav2 for a few weeks I experience every now and then my incoming voice calls get redirected to voicemail immediately. When I softreboot my device the problem goes away.

Any clue as to what or why this is?

Try installing the TMobile 2.19.11 UK Radio Only ROM (Its on the ftp site here under the Wizard directory: ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard ). Not sure if it will solve your issue, but I've found that Radio works much better with the WM6 MBE ROM than the Cingular 2.25 and the other higher versions.

Also understand that if you have lots of apps doing data traffic, then a call will not be able to come in while that traffic is active.

Just skimmed through this entire thread, the wiki and did some google searches through the forum but can't seem to find a solution.
If you were referring to the "ShowSIM" registry value, it doesn't solve the issue. I generally use my BT headset and pick up calls according to the ringtone so this feature is very important for me.

For a quick recap of my problem, when a call is received, even though I have the ShowSIM value set to "0" (ie SIM contacts hidden), the phone number is still looked up in both the SIM and the Contact list. If the Entry Name is the same, it will use the Contact list profile. If the Entry Name is different, it will use the SIM profile.
Because of this setup, some of custom ringtones don't get triggered when I receive a call. I'm guessing custom photos (don't have this set up) will also not work properly.

Here's an example as to what I'm experiencing:
SIM Entry = John Doe 123 456 7890
Phone Entry = John Doe 123 456 7890 w/ Custom Ringtone
Display comes up as "John Doe"
Custom Ringtone will work

SIM Entry = John D 123 456 7890
Phone Entry = John Doe 123 456 7890 w/ Custom Ringtone
Display comes up as "John D"
Custom Ringtone will NOT work.
Default Ringtone will sound.


Anybody have any ideas how to fix this?

I must be completly stupid and missing something here.. I've searched but I've plain got to be missing a step. I've updated my roms to cooked roms and all that stuff so I know how to flash the Rom.. I've d/l 3 or 4 different roms 3.3 for wizard from various places and keep getting the same result. I've CID unlocked via Loki, but I'm out of ideas. No mater what ROM I've tried to flash to the device.. I ALWAYS get 2.26.10.2 WWE.. The Boot Screen changes from rom to rom but thats it.. My spl/ipl is 2.x with radio of 2.47.11.. What am I missing here?? I've tried the following ROMS..

Faria-htc-wizard-aku3.3-page-pool-6mb

Sounds to me like your CID unlock didn't work for some reason. Have you ever went back to a 1.x rom? If so you have to do the lokiwiz again. I'd suggest you go through that process if the ROMs flash but nothing changes.

I've never tried to go back to a 1.1 rom.. Makes me wonder if I've never had it working right.. but I know I have.. I've had apps be preinstalled on first boot up and all that stuff.. I read everywhere for a 3.3 rom to start with the stable 2.26 rom.. How do I see a succesfull CID unlock? Thanks in advance

Its because the CID of your device is still locked. And certainly you have IPL/SPL 2.00. or higher. Swart did it with no problem because he has an unlocked CID.
You have to downgrade your IPL/SPL to 1.xx (I still dont know the correct method) and then unlock CID and then you can flash any ROM you want"

Yeah, sounds like you are still CID Locked to me. First question is, are you on a G3 or G4 device? (I'm assuming G3 since you talked about flashing roms before, but you have to make sure of that).

Go to the Sticky in the top of the forums for how to CID Unlock a device by Dr. P. Then follow it step by step (and don't skip a single step and make sure everything works as it should). Once you do that, then you should be all set to go (again?)...

Think you've flashed rom's in the past that could be flashed to a CID-locked device (like 2.26 rom's where the OS wasn't touched). You're still CID-locked!

I also got the new Hermes now....but so far I m not cooking anything for it because this device seems very easy to brick.

Overall the wizard wins the Hermes!!!! For me at lest.

LOL your a real nice guy faria :D and although I've missed your roms, Molski stepped up, and whoever did the Most Beautiful rom as well. More importantly you deserved some time away from our constant wining :) On the matter of your dead wizard, I seem to remember seeing wizard parts for sale on ebay and in some other website. If I find it again I'll let you know, since I'm pretty sure someone will take the initiative and start a fund to get you up and going again. I get the impression wizard owners don't want to loose you to the hermes anytime soon.

In short, Microsoft forced the site to remove all of the ROM images that have to do with the OS...

i started using microsoft voice command 1.6. This works fine when activating from one of the wizard buttons and listening via the speaker.

by default i cannot get it to lauch by pressing the talk button on my sony ericsson headset.

If i fix the registry i can get it to launch voice command (works until first reset). But i can't get the notifications played via BT. This supposedly is supported (since there were a lot of issues with the 1,5 version)

Glad to hear the about the page pool guys, about the sd booting slower I guess that's why in the previous rom all the shortcuts I had for apps on the start menu that were installed on the sd would have blank icons.

Also registry wizard already installed? genious guys, pure and simple genious. Word of advice though, since registry wizard won't recognize the AKU version it won't dissable some options that you shouldn't play with, namely on "TWEAKS 2" page "Taskbar Date/Time" be sure to uncheck that as it will be checked by default and if you apply that tweak the area where the clock is of your taskbar will probably get screwed up. I know of at least that one, I pretty much use all the other ones with no problems.

Anyways can't wait to play with the proper versions of these roms (I had installed the one with the broken TCMP, but before I said anything Faria had already noticed and was already reuploading the fix..... what a guy)

Love the ROM, thanks to the masters again.

I'm getting intermitten issues with the GPRS: I use GoodLink for corporate email, and for some reason it will try to connect to T-Mobile EDGE/GPRS but it'll drop the connection as soon as it connects (in GoodLink). Now if I used my IE to browse the net FIRST, establishing that EDGE/GPRS link, then GoodLink will receive the emails OK.

I don't understand why GoodLink as an app can't maintain the link to the net?

BTW DeviceLock the little free app you can get doesn't seem to work on this version of WM5...

Same problem here. You have to browse to a page in pocket IE to get it to connect and even then the GPRS connection drops frequently.

Please read and follow EVERY step in the CID Unlocking guide by Dr. P. The final step BEFORE you start flashing custom roms (like WM6) is to upgrade to an official 2.x rom. You apparently did not do that and you will have lots of problems trying to run WM6 on IPL/SPL of 1.x. You MUST upgrade (which means you will have to trash your WM6 install that you have now).

So go to the [Read First] sticky on how to CID Unlock your phone. YOu are already at a 1.x IPL/SPL so you don't have to do the button ROM (but it might not hurt to do that to be clean). Then do the lokiwiz, and then upgrade to an official 2.x ROM like the guide says (it even has a link to pull the TMobile 2.26 rom). After you complete ALL of that, THEN (and only then) you can install WM6 or some other custom rom.

Again, don't skip steps and you'll be fine. If you skip steps, you will pay for it in the end with either a bricked phone, or one that doesn't work properly and will have to do all of this again.

Glad it worked for you.

The Most Beautiful rom is a good rom once you tweak it out (there is a lot of tweaking needs to be done though). I never could get WiFi to work on it for me though.

The Faria "the real thing" WM6 is probably teh most complete of the WM6 Roms. I'm running the mUn aRTM rom (the fixed version that was repacked by Nottoosmart around not 331 in that thread). It doesn't have as much on it as Faria's so you have to add stuff to it more, so you may appreciate the Faria one more to get up and running right away.

If you don't have to have WM6, then the AKU 3.3 by Faria and Molski are both very good, fast, and stable.

In my experience (and that isn't vast, but due to issues I've seen myself and with others here) you should go back to an official ROM before upgrading to another custom ROM. Its always better to have a clean slate before flashing a custom rom.

This is the AKU 3.3 ROM and not the WM6 ROM. I didn't think this one had the 8 button comm screen (but maybe I missed that). The Faria "the real thing" ROM definetly has the 8 button comm screen.

I have read the cid unlocking instructions very slowly and carefully. But I've got a few issues. 1st some background. I bought a TM mda vario in the UK and had it unlocked when I was moving out. In the last 12 months, I have used various molski and faria roms successfully. 2 weeks ago i tried molski's 3.3 but I get get stuck at 98% (with whichever ROM I use) and get error 302, communication error, device goes back to bootloader screen. Its a G3, IPL 2.26, SPL 2.26. a) Is it right to assume that my device is unlocked? b) How to get out of this mess c? someone email me the secret location of a good ROM, xmarwaxatgmaildotcom.

And yes, as long as you don't go back to an IPL or SPL of 1.xx you are still CID Unlocked. Safest bet is to flash an official rom at this point (TMobile 2.26 is always good) and then move on to the custom rom you want.

A2DP now in stereo, found the fix in another forum.

Set registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings value name "UseJointStereo", set the value to 2 then soft reset.

Value set to 1 mixes all A2DP sounds down to mono

It brings back some of the hiss that some notice more than others, but I'll take the small hiss with stereo.

It depends on the headphones you use. For example, Plantronics headphones are pretty much incompatible with the MS BT stack, while Nokia headphones work just great.

All was running fine on my device, with this ROM, until I applied the patch, now I have to reboot a couple times a day, and things are generally more unstable.

Is there a simple way to back out of this patch?

This rom is really great. I'm using it for quite long time and I think is one of the best. My only problem is dial-up over bluetooth. When I pair my devices a can't see dial-up on it. I see only network access point, headset, obex and com. What should I do to get it back. Using infrared is very inefective,.

What a great job with this! I am thrilled with the functionallity of this. I wish M$ could get it this well! The only issue I have personally, is I get an error when I try to open Windows Live Messenger. It says nothing in it, its just an error box with the "X" in the top right side to close it and a larger "X" to the left inside a red circle. Any thoughts?
Also, is it necessary to apply the patch? If so how do you do it? I have done some reading and have not had any luck finding the way to apply it. Thanks.

I've had this ROM for about two months and i love the features but am less than thrilled with perfomance. I installed the original and the updated version (been on for two months and both have severe memory leak if you use it at all. Its gotten to the point where i have to reboot twice a day and more often then not it freezes durring the reboot process.

The programs i have installed are:

When I run Button's 1.05 CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_1120_WWE.exe the program crashes with a "Error [260]". When I perform the recovery, (which basically says take out the battery and start over), I get the same message.

Any advice?

Cancel that request. Fixed it by downloading Button's 1.05 a second time.

I haven't had a chance to look through this whole thread yet, but according to the Wiki, there aren't many people experiencing battery drain like I am...

I used the WM6 method with Shelltool to upgrade a couple of weeks ago to WM6. (I have a locked version 3 btw) I did the same shelltool process to go to Faria 3.3 and am having huge battery drain. I unchecked the receive all beams, and still have a ton of draw all the time. Any idea?

I habe the same problem with this ROM. No live messenger. Tried to delete it and install WLM manually but no succes. Anyone a idea to solve this issue?

Same issue as above. Empty error box with the "X" to close out in the upper right. At first I thought it had something to do with the 3.08 ipl/spl and 2.69 radio I upgraded to last night, since this is when I noticed it. Today I reflashed the original Tmob 2.26 ROM then Faria's ROM again, but still the same issue. I'm wondering if the WLM beta was time limited. I know for the WM5 smartphones, people were having problems using/installing the Smartphone edition of WLM after a certain time. Hopefully this isn't the case with this one also.

It seems that Windows Live Messenger is still beta and no final release has been made yet. Maybe I'm wrong, but from what I've been reading this seems the source of the problem.

I've just found on XDA a post with an updated version here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1198505&postcount=42) but I haven't had time to test it, and I don't even know if it's possible to get this installed instead of the version included in the ROM. If someone manages to get it working, please post back.

Installed the 6MB version since Monday and I liked it so far.

It's faster than all the WM6 ROMs that I have installed. Packaged freeware is pretty good.

The Windows Live Betas are time-bombed, the version you have time-bombed in early April.

The embedded releases are supposed to be Microsoft internal only, as they're not going to be released for WM5.

I have 2 alarms set for tuesday and wednesday each week. This week, my phone has started going off at the wrong time and has multiple notifications, IE: the notification window pops up at the bottom stateing that there are multiple instances. This week, I was in the eastern u.s. time zone and it went of one hour early. I have the auto update time zone checked as it has been since I installed this rom. To my knowledge, I have changed nothing in the last week which would cause this. PS, I am still reading on the new Faria rom. I have had it downloaded since it was put out. Looks great, just want to be cautious! Thanks.

I do have this done. I think this was a date change mostly. really screwed my calender. changed all my appointment times. strange that this problem just started this week.

This was posted to the wiki page a long time ago but (to the best of my knowledge) never addressed:

I'm not using BatteryStatus and have discovered the following which is definitely reproduceable on my device: 1. Schedule Spb Backup to backup at 3am. 2. Leave the device connected to a wall charger. 3. Turn off the screen. The device will wake up, perform the backup and then attempt a soft reset. The reset cannot be completed whilst the device is connected to the power charger. No amount of soft resets (using the stylus in the side hole) will succeed until I disconnect the power.

Anyone? This is a major PITA especially since I use my Wizard as an alarm clock. This morning I woke up to a crashed device showing the Windows Mobile swirl but 20 minutes after my alarm should have sounded.

I can't seem to download this rom to even get started...maybe I'm just missing something, but I can't seem to find it on the ftp server, and simply clicking the link (in the newest version of firefox) doesn't seem to work. I'm using the latest (free) version of CuteFTP to try and access the ftp site, and I can get on and download other things--just can't find this rom.

So, I had been having some problems with the stability of this rom, and couldn't quite figure out what the deal was, as I trusted the massive number of posts touting the strengths of faria's creation. At seemingly random occasions, my device was locking up very often, and wouldn't stay functional for more than a few minutes at a time--and after flashing the IPL, SPL, and then the extended rom multiple times I realized the problem--this rom does not like my memory card. When its in, I have problems--when its out, this rom blows the doors off of anything else I've tried.

I'm using a 2GB Kingston technology mini sd card. I have used this card with the latest cingular rom in this phone without issue--anyone have any insight as to what I can do? I really like this rom, and would love to keep using both it and my memory card!

P.S. Thanks to all for all your hard work on the contents of this forum--I've learned so much about this technology after just a short time here.

Just out of curiosity but do you have any of your Today plugin apps loaded onto your SD card? That can cause issues like you described. Otherwise maybe backing everything up on the card and then re-formatting it to see if it makes any difference.

Bit of a n00b question probably, but..

I upgraded my G3 Wizard (Qtek 9100) with several different ROMS in the passed months, after realizing QTek wasn't going to release any new ROMS anymore :(

I religiously followed the excellent manuals, provided bij Faria, Dr. Puttingham and others, and have never had any troubles doing the upgrade.
I have now installed the latest Faria 3.3 ROM with 6 MB pagepool. Although the device seems to be working fine, I'm a bit worried..

First; at startup; it still shows an IPL and SPL version 2.26 (on the great new splashscreen). Shouldn't that be 3.something?
Second; With one of the previous ROMS I lost quite a few calls. Wrong radio version, I gather from different post here. From Faria's thread on radio versions I understand I should get the version made by/for my operater (Dutch T-Mobile). I downloaded the T-Mobile version recommended in these threads, but that is not the dutch version. If this causes me to lose calls again, can I use a Dutch T-Mobile ROM as 2.26 basis, or would that lock up the Wizard again? (or screw things up otherwise) :o
Third; hardly an issue, but with a previous ROM I got a Vista look and buttons and stuff. Is it possible to do that with this ROM? I know it's just non-important bling, but hey.. :p

Any help will be much appreciated.

This ROM is very stable and fast - at least as fast as WM6 as it has newer kernel. The only reason I was trying WM6 was more beutiful stuff but I have got there ONE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH WM6: GPRS IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY
That means WHAT IS THE USE OF WM6 for Wizard as it disables the communicator function???
So far I am reading numerous posts on this subject and it is still unclear for me was that fixed or not.
I have decided to stay with WM5 AKU3.3 until I get clear proof that GPRS was fixed in WM6.

Can anybody advise was it done or not???

I am pretty sure this isnt about CID Unlocking and that other users may well benefit from an answer to these questions: I have successfully flashed up to what you refer to as the 3.08 ROM. I cant find one later? But here I see mention of what looks like a later, - and beta, - one with a date on it of quite some time ago?

I also see reference to performance improvements, to VoIP being deleted from ROMs and to it being addable by some kind of incorporation of the .cab files. There do not seem to be any instructions as to how to do this. In addition as I have commented elsewhere, the folder on your FTP site does not seem to be accessable and there is also a reference to a company called Microsoft having requested that something be removed and your having complied?

Is there a ROM available which I can flash my Wizard to which does incorporate VoIP and such performance tweaks as would let me use VoIP on a processor of about 200 MHz please? Also it might be useful if it were set out in a link somewhere what the differences are between the varying sized-megabyte versions of the ROM described on this thread for us newbies please? e.g. "dont use the 8 MB one unless you have a 2 gig card in your device's slot"

I'm on the Faria WM6 Rom for about a week now and I'm Flashing back to this Rom. They Say the 2.19 Radio Rom is Best for keep signal and Not Missing calls. I'll be trying it 2morrow butI"m pretty Sure I'll be Flashing back to WM5. With all the Problems I have with Missed calls, txts and MMS not downloading its not really worth it for me.... Just my $.02

EDIT & UPDATE : I tried Using the 2.19 RAdio Rom for the WM6.... IT worked Great for a Few hours then BAM ! lost Internet for about 2 hours and could not connect again. Not Even To use the REgular phone. It was nice while it Lasted. I gave the WM6 rom a try for a week and my phone And all the People complaining about vopicemail Just didn't Take it too well lol Flashing FAria AKU 3.3 WM5 as we speak.... Thanx guy for all the hard work onthe WM6 rom....from what I hear some people have had great Success with it. Good Luck to every1.....

Just skimmed through this entire thread, the wiki and did some google searches through the forum but can't seem to find a solution.
If you were referring to the "ShowSIM" registry value, it doesn't solve the issue. I generally use my BT headset and pick up calls according to the ringtone so this feature is very important for me.

For a quick recap of my problem, when a call is received, even though I have the ShowSIM value set to "0" (ie SIM contacts hidden), the phone number is still looked up in both the SIM and the Contact list. If the Entry Name is the same, it will use the Contact list profile. If the Entry Name is different, it will use the SIM profile.
Because of this setup, some of custom ringtones don't get triggered when I receive a call. I'm guessing custom photos (don't have this set up) will also not work properly.

Here's an example as to what I'm experiencing:
SIM Entry = John Doe 123 456 7890
Phone Entry = John Doe 123 456 7890 w/ Custom Ringtone
Display comes up as "John Doe"
Custom Ringtone will work

SIM Entry = John D 123 456 7890
Phone Entry = John Doe 123 456 7890 w/ Custom Ringtone
Display comes up as "John D"
Custom Ringtone will NOT work.
Default Ringtone will sound.


Anybody have any ideas how to fix this?

Firstly, thanks for this amazing rom faria. I can't even begin to describe how much I love it. It seems extremely fast and very stable. Anyone looking for a good wm5 rom for wizard should definately consider flashing this rom. Very, very excellent work mate, thanks. :)

I have the same issue with ringtones and pictures not appearing in incoming calls. I've also found out that it's something to do with same number existing in SIM and in phone. I noticed that if I edit the SIM contact so that I remove say the last number from the phonenumber (358401234567 -> 35840123456), the right picture and the ringtone appears (as it obviously should since the number is not on the sim anymore...). Didn't try to rename the contacts to similar appearance to see if that would help, yet. Interestingly if I remove countrycode from eighter one, it still considers the numbers to be same (358401234567 == 0401234567) and displays the info on SIM.

So anyone found a fix yet? I'd really appreciate it. In wiki this is still listed under uncommon problems.

Few other observations I came across.

- I have a Qtek9100 with hardware nordic keyboard (Brightpoint version which as far as I understand is available throughout skandinavia). I was banging my head against the wall trying to set the ä's and the ö's to work correctly (ä = sym+arrow down and ö is sym+. on my keyboard). The Registry Wiz didn't seem to work at all. It seems that every time I run the damn thing, it resets the keyboard setting in registry no matter what layout I select from the dropdown list. RegWiz resets the layout every time its run, even now that I have it set to correct setting and even if I don't touch it. Bug? The solution I found was to manually edit the HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale=0414 (Norvay??) and reset. I have to reset it every time I run the RegWiz in settings as the RegWiz resets the value to 041d.

- Another thing I've been wondering is TomTom 6 and directional pads function in nav screen. In my previous rom (official one from brightpoint, old as h*ll) the up/down keys were set to zoom in/out. However now it seems the whole directional pad changes the spoken directions volume, no matter which direction its clicked. Is there a setting for this somewhere? I found no option to change it in tomtom itself. Maybe there's some registry setting for it? My Tomtom is version 6.03.

Rest of the tweaks I've made were pretty much all found under this topic and from the wiki. I did quite a lot of registry tweaking to make this rom fit my needs, and now it seems to work very well. No other problems exept the ones mentioned. No much discussed battery life problem here.

This may be a total N00B question. I have a cingular 8125 (unlocked CID and SIM) and I wanted to try one of the custom roms. Is there a website or thread that reviews the latest roms and compares and contrasts, along with common bugs, and finally which is the best rom to have!? Maybe asking for too much here. I'm looking to upgrade to a custom rom and I have no idea which direction to go. Would definately like speed and stability first and foremost, and I'm not sure if i wnat to make the jump to WM6.
