Helmi is very good on publishing and explainning the whole details of the ROM.

Just seems silly now.

cute comment u hv there...

I hv an answer for you:
or maybe it built with old dsm part from old pack and newer dsm with lower alpabethic order? thats why some dsm pack (files) are move to a lower alpabethical order (a newer dsm pack with the 'missing' files) and also I've delete all *RGU files... so thats will make the dumper confuse, and force to use the manual way if they need to mod the rom (not re-built the rom)...just bein a little bit more creative... still with me?

I believe u use DSMTOOL to extract/relocate rom files/modules? :)

Aye. Lot of battery consumption. Maybe processor is running at full speed rather than RAM being used. less RAM more processor usage = more batt use ~ system is running at full speed / brightness may also be a contributor???? Noticed the same thing in Ivans AKU3.5 ~_~ even though brightness levels were 5% (lowest) the device takes a long time to charge and batt consumption is high.
I believe Helmi's AKU3.5 is the best since it has lowest batt consumption. >.> anyone correct me if i am wrong....
Someone post the performance tables of this ROM compared to WM5 ROMS here. Thx.

hmm... I agree with you... I more likely to said that this is a Flexible Vanila version..lol... maybe on the next I'll make everything Activate With a Cab... to make it true vanila. with cab activation for example: ActivateWindowsLive, ActivateStreamingPlayer, ActivateMMS, ActivateZip...plus with the current Activation cab..

the reason is, save some storage space by adding the app/files to ROM, but not activated till user need it... so we'll hv both benefits of vanila or Full Loaded ROM...

as in i installed the cab on my universal, soft reset and now i can turn bt on/off with the tray icon or comm manager, BT settings in comm manager also goes to the right place.

the button doesn't always display the right icon (usually does) but it never fails to toggle off/on

Helmi, thanks for your rom.
Let me explain one me problem about Sprite Backup.
Now this programs works if I installing it on SD Storage, but when I made a backup (or restore it same), the device restarted (normally), but after restart my PDA still blocked on Splash screen.
No serious problem, I must reset again my device for take over control.
Just for your information and crew of xda.

same here, it works!!! I can turn on and off the bluetooth in CmMgr. and it does show me the correct status. Furthermore using your ROM and the Broadcomm stack is great functionality
Beside untill now the ROM is great , I have use the PDAVIET 2.04 before but your's seams litle bit more reactive.

Ic...so CommManager gettin a little bit more cooperative with Broadcomm...
but still, the status is not correctly displayed... cos as far as I know CommManager only change/play with [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Settings]
"ScanMode"

Think this little app is very handy to use!
Copy it to your Windows\Startup folder an every time you softreset your device the Start Menu is clean from previously opend apps!

helmi_c, about voip i test it to get working. Don't knew about incomleting it in WM6 :) Anyway will try.

Can you make WM6 ROM with maximum originals? I mean do not cut off, do not put extras inside, do not change anything in registry. Pure Clear Original ROM. And pack of patches, addons, etc in CAB's. I think it will be good for all.

Quick question on the VoIP cab.

I have another Crossbow ROM installed (Midgets) and am quite happy with it but the VoIP cab is intriguing me!

Has anybody installed this extra cab and have it wotking with an Asterisk system?

Is it like a full integrated VoIP SIP client or is it an MSN chat client?

Also do I need to do a complete rom re-flash or can I just install this CAB on my existing Midget ROM?

Finally the full VGA mode is that like OZ VGA or is it native to crosbow? Do you need to reboot to change the resolution?

Helmi,

My compliments for this ROM. I installed it yesterday, and have had no freezes, resets or whatsoever since then ... definitely better then the previous ROM.

(only thing left on my wishlist is Dutch T9 :-)

Cheers Wiz

English
German
French
Italian
Spanish
Portuguese
Czech
Danish

Polish
Slovak

but the romanian t9 is still missing...

What are the thoughts about this ROM compared to Helmi's AKU3.5 v1.3.1 release?

I really like the AKU3.5 release, but I don't find it quite as stable as the official releases, especially on the phone front - I seem to be losing calls as I try to answer them (usually with the green button on the hinge). I tried one of the first Crossbow releases to see if it was any more reliable on the phone front, but found it worse, is this one any better?

For information, I have been using radio v1.14.x since it was released, but dropped back to v1.13 yesterday to see if it helps the stability - I seemed to have real problems in low signal areas, and it not recovering properly once back in good signal areas.

Cheers,

Steve.

What are the thoughts about this ROM compared to Helmi's AKU3.5 v1.3.1 release?

Steve,

I have not tried the low signal areas and the UMTS->GPRS->UMTS handover yet, but as far as the rest is concerned, I have tried most of the other ones, even Helmi's first version, and all suffered from random freezes, freeze after reset etc ...

This is the first one that I have had running from day one without a *single* glitch

Hmmm... interesting. I had real problems on Saturday using AKU3.5 v1.3.1 and radio v1.14 connecting in a 2G area - if the signal blipped to 3G, then I was ok, and could connect ok.

I wonder if the GPRS connection problem affects all the new releases?

Great work Helmi and thanks for your efforts!! You are really one the best ROM builders out there! This ROM is the most stable and fast WM6 on Universal I have tried so far!

The BroadCom Bluetooth Stack also works great! I must admit that I wasn't brave enough to take on your Broadcom BT stack when it was released as a separate app in the forum. But now I have tried it with this ROM as it is already built in and it is much better than I expected!! It reminds me of the Bluetooth on my good old HP iPAQ PDA H4150. I have always been trying to do file transfer etc over the M$ Bluetooth but it just wouldn't have it.

I am going to try the BroadCom BT with my BT headset and GPS receiver tonight and I am quite confident with it!!

Keep on your great works and I will always be one of the first adopters!!;)

Only thing I am trying to figure out is, with the M$ BT stack, I can use my i.Tech BT headset to pick up a call by using pressing the button on it. When there is no call, the button on the i.Tech switch between handfree and back to the Universal's speaker. If I press the green button or press Answer then I can pick up the call when call comes in. But when I am driving it is illegal to touch the phone in the UK here. So what's the difference and how do I set the BroadCom so that I can use the headset to pick up a call?

helmi, freekin awesome work! I've been waiting 2 years to get broadcom on a WM5 device :) of course now I don't actually "NEED" it anymore but its still superior to m$'s in every way. I do have one small issue, which I don't know if its exclusive to me or others have had it happen. I've paired successfully with my hs820, then added the bluetooth handsfree profile. The headset seems to work with routing audio (low quality) and working as the phone answering device. However, I had my phone dialpad dissapear. I followed the instructions in teh forum (I didn't have all the reg entries, but I deleted the one that I did and changed the dword to 0) and reset my uni. Bam, back in business. However, the ringtones will ring through the headset, but after I answer, a short while later the headset will disconnect. Sometimes the headset doesn't even "know" that the phone is ringing. Is this a problem with my phone app (residual) or am I having bluetooth incompatibility issues?

fyi
I installed fresh, let the device customize
installed the broadcom enabler, the microsoft voicecommand enabler, and the phone sip (after I lost my dialpad). I set the registry entries to enable the bluetooth to trigger voice command (doesn't work for me at all, however the record button launches voice command IN the headset).
Hope this information can help you figure out what I may have done wrong, I'd hate to hard reset AGAIN after I just got my device in perfect shape...

To change the SMS font sizes for both reading and composing goto the windows directory and edit both the compose_style.css and read_style.css files. Both files include references to various font characteristics including size/colour/weight etc when reading and composing text messages. Also allows you to change vcard subject/body/header characteristics. Both files are hidden and read-only so use Resco Explorer or similar to copy/overwrite.

I actually think you have a point here. @Helmi: I think your 1.1 rom does not contain an empty extended_rom and it does not clear out any older extended roms. Most people here upgrade from another variety of WM6 or at least from an AKU3.3 or higher, and in most cases will have an empty extended rom to begin with. People who come from a retail rom will have their original extended rom left after the upgrade.

For that purpose, I have uploaded a dedicated empty extended rom to the FTP site that you can use.

ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Universal/Empty_Extended_Rom/

Flash your Universal with this extended rom and perform a hard reset. You will then have Helmi's 1.1 rom + an empty extended rom that you can put your own stuff in.

I've installed this ROm and it's really amazing fast.
Thanks Helmi for the great work. It's because of people like you that xda-dev is always going to be the greatest forum for all us loves of HTC devices...

Now for a small problem:
I've enable the BroadComm stack and it happens that when I pair the device with the hands-free built-in my car (Renault Laguna), if I try to dial from the device there is no sound coming from the speakers. On the other hand if I dial from the hands-free system, the connection and the sound are perfect.
The down side of this is that I cannot have all my contacts stored in the hands-free memory and so when I need to dial, I have to check the number on the device and then dial in the hands-free...It's quite a hassle!
This did not happen with the previous M$ Stack...

Is there any solution for this?

Thanks a lot and once again congratulations for the great ROM you gave us!

I tried this ROM. Working very good. Only ... it appears to need ActiveSync 4.5 for synchronisation. Since I cannot install that on my business laptop, this ROM (no WM6-ROM at all I suppose) is an option for me.
It's a pity ...
Went back to 1.30.77.

Great ROM!!!

One question: Would it be possible to get a german keyboard layout not only for the hardware keyboard but also for the software keyboard which is used in an english ROM like this?

Jorry, you can try the Resco Keyboard Pro or the PADMill's Topkey, either one will give you software keyboard of lots of different countries.

The BroadCom Stack is great in lots of ways but since it is quite different from the M$ Stack every one just need to play with it and get the hand to it.

Most of the "problem" with it I have seen so far including myself is with the handfree. I have no problem of using the handfree headset with it, sound and call can be routed. Only problem is I can't pick up the call from headset.

The same button on the headset, with M$ Stack it routes the sound then pick up the call. With the BroadCom stack it routes the sound then if I press it again it stops the call instead of picking it up. This means we can't leave the phone in the pocket as we have to press the green phone on Universal button to pick up call instead of using handfree. Also it is actually illegal here to use phone while driving.

I think we all need to have a think about this and see if anybody can find the solution to it. Once that's resolved this will be a even better ROM than ever!!

You will then have Helmi's 1.1 rom + an empty extended rom that you can put your own stuff in.

yes wiz... that why some user hv problem with blank phone pad, cos the old extended_rom is execute and installed... btw if that blank phone pad occure please use this cab...

Thanks Helmi for the great work. It's because of people like you that xda-dev is always going to be the greatest forum for all us loves of HTC devices...

Now for a small problem:

In my headset, if u dial from phone not from headset, then u need to press and hold the button on headset to route its audio... and release it after phone by using the same way...

HELMI,
Would it be too much too ask to make a small mod on the today theme.....can you remove vista b1 and put it on a can file like the rest of the cab files. every bit of storage helps even how little and incorporate the word sugg fix (wsuggfix.cab) cab file....hope this is not too much to ask for.

thank you much

I think u would better pack it with extended_rom so it'll will autoexecute after hard reset, better then completely rebuilt the rom... but thanks for the input I'll put in rom in next release (not activated offcourse)

Helmi,

Due to these issues, your WM6 cab directory starts to get unstructured. It contains proper WM6 additions and fixes for people that come from existing extrended rom issues.

My suggestion is that you:

- Create a version 1.1a or 1.2 *with* empty extended rom
- List real functional WM6 additions in directory "WM2k6_v1.1(or 2)_CAB"
(- List fixes in directory "WM2k6_v1.1_FIX")

Cheers,

Yes, it's a status panel, not a control panel. I actually have never seen this work except on the Palm Treo 750v.

Helmi,

With your WM6 v1.1 built, I have a 3G icon, on the topbar, to indicate my phone is connected via 3G. I'm living in the Netherlands and the 3G service over here is called UMTS. Is it possible to change the 3G icon to a U icon?
There are other WM6 ROMs(5.2.318 Built 15341.0.0.0) which do show the U icon(PDAVIET v2.00.04 UNI Pro, UNI_2_00_05_WWE_HHVN). Maybe just a registry setting?
I hope you have an answer for me...

Nope, it is in the embedded icons. Personally I prefer 3G since 3G is UMTS and HSDPA. It is all a matter of taste I guess ... I also am in the Netherlands on T-Mobile UMTS/HSDPA, so I do not mind ...

Will a sprite restore from an wm2005 work with this 2m6 rom?
Try not to do this for the following reasons,

1. Some apps may not be usable and may hang the phone or may cause some applications not working.

2. Contacts data format of WM5 AKU2 and WM5 AKU3 onwards are of different format. Restore in WM6, you will not be able to read your contacts.

But once you go to WM6, you have nothing to lose, if restore not successful, just hard reset and do the install all again.

By the way, sprite restore has an option to restore items selectively, right?

What about the battery-use? I'm running "ROM_v2.00.04_PDAVIET_UNI_PRO" on my Universal for about 2 weeks, and after 12hours idle-time i've lost 30% battery!

The battery is 1 month old, so that's not the thing.

What i'm really asking; Does this rom consume a lot of my battery?

PS: What is the best rom to choose if battery is a high aspect?

If battery is high aspect get another phone - 12hours idle and only losing 30% is good. This little baby needs some juice every night if not more.

Move it to somewhere else and you will not see the BT Icon at the bottom after soft reset.

Cheers,

What I was meaning was that with Helmi's auto close program if I was on the web and wanted to listen to music (Core Player) then I couldn't as Core Player was always closed in the background afer 30 seconds or so - this was was the same when I used any other program.

I have solved this by removing the autoclose program and will simply use SK Tools free up ram or the built in windows close all programs feature alongside HTC's Close Button program.

Cheers anyways

'I'm soooo... happy!'

With the Microsoft bluetooth stack it was not possible to use TMC with IGO. Now I use Helmi's new Broadcomm stack and both GPS and TMC are recognized by IGO. (For the people that don't now what TMC is, it's a seperate module that activates traffic information over radio signal) So when there is a traffic jam the navigation software automatic calculates a new route.

Thanks again Helmi!

Hi,

I had the same problem, I solve it reflashing with the same rom.
Go to bootloader and try reflash it.

Try another USB port to connect the mobile.

Don't worry about the image that appears when you run no_ID, the correct image only appears on the other version.

Can anyone tell me if there is a stereo bluetooth headset (ie with mic.) that will work with this ROM using the MS BT stack.

My old Jabra has finally fallen to bits and I would like to get a headset that supports wireless stereo AND allow me to use for calls when they come in.

It also needs to support MS Voice commands.

Try getting a new battery pack. If your battery is more than 6 months old, and you've charged it many times due to heavy usage, it is no surprise this happens. The battery reports the "voltage" wrongly and appears to still contain charge.

Is there a dll in your /windows directory named voipphonecanvas.dll?

AndyChecker

When I upgraded to windows mobile 6 (midget's) my battery was only on about 70% but I wanted to try the new rom so I flashed then with that battery I also noticed the issue after a few days use. My battery died at about 40% indicated power after flashing - btw to see this you needed to plug it into the mains and see what the power status reported as it wouldn't boot past the windows mobile screen all of a sudden.

After some searching on here I found out others had similar issues when flashing to AKU 3.5 roms and I put it down to us all having our universals for about a year now and the battery just giving up COINCEDENTLY at the same time as we flashed these newer roms.

However now others are still reporting this maybe it could be that if you flash at less than 100% battery the universal somehow loses part of the batteries capacity?

I have a spare original battery that is working fine on Windows mobile 6 and only use the knackered one for flashing and emergencies now.

Just want to let you know that my jasjar hangs quite regularly for no apparent reason...it appears to look like battery drainage because the only way to get it to fully reboot is to plug it into an outlet. However, once it's back on the battery indicator does not show empty...so I cannot figure out what is ailing it.

Is anyone else experiencing hangs?

i know the reason of the HANG....it is the Radio ....the first time i flased this ROM i had the Radio 1.13 on my device....everything was going very good for the past days....today i reflased it again but this time i added Radio 1.14 ......there was a lot of HANGS even in the boot and during the normal operations....so i reflased it again and added the old Radio 1.13....NOW EVERYTHING IS WORKING GREAT.....

I am trying out this ROM now and I think it is great, coming from 3,5 which was also very good.
I have noticed 2 things:
- I have the BT headset will not pick up the phone issue
- Icons from prog's installed to card don't load properly after softreset (I use Pocket Plus)
I'll wait a few days to see if Helmi or somebody else come up with a solution to the headset thing, otherwise I'll probably go back to 3.5, but I would like to know if it is possible/advicable to use the Extended ROM from 3.5 with this ROM, contrary to most others here, I really enjoyed all the extras a lot, so I would like to have them with this ROM also?

Question for anybody running this ROM:

Is there a dll in your /windows directory named voipphonecanvas.dll?

Yes there is :)

Gotta agree with you, sir... had similar problems with 1.14... am actually having to get a replacement handset as a reflash isn't working anymore :(

Helmi... all the testing I put this ROM through, which was a lot, it's by far the most stable WM6 version out there and as soon as I get me new phone, gonna flash to this! Thanks very much! :D

24 hrs with only one phone freeze .. not bad at all .. seems I'm going to keep it for awhile .. well done Helmi :)

btw, I 'm using radio 1.09 with arabization as well .. there was no problem except after installing Magic Button 2.0 .. everything is back to normal after removing it .. I use HTC X-button instead.

anyway, will wait for a while before installing some heavy s/w like Pocket Breeze or Resco things ... this rom is very promising!

If anyone is still there I havve a problem. When I tried to update it. i think it failed and got stuck on the serial v1.00 botloader. Luckily I found a way to fix that. May one of you please supply the 1.30.79 WWE QTEK-TMobile rom please I cannot find it. Also I ahve a 4gb that's not working with my device. Could it be possible that my rom is to old and the update for 4gb cards haven't been set in place fo r that rom? This the only time I've heard of a 4g card not working. Please help

is there a tweak or a registry edit to turn off wifi using the connection icon

when you turn on wifi and after its on
then when you click on the connectivity icon it should say (turn wifi off) but instead it still says (turn wifi on)... is there a way to fix this? i wanna be able to turn off wifi without using wrlsmgr or commmgr.

I should add that my BT headset (plantronics VoyaGER 510) doesn't work with the MS stack as well, so it is NOT just the Widcom stack....
It pairs just fine, but doesn't pick up the phone.
My Holux GPS works just fine with both stacks.

It's really a superb ROM.

I'm missing a disconnect button on the GPRS connection bubble. I can't disconnect GPRS without switching off radio. Anybody knows any other workaround of that...

How about pressing and holding the Red phone button on the keypad?

Can you correlate something for me? I'm finding that I no longer get a full phone hang, only data connections. I can still call and be called, but GPRS and UMTS are killed....

[BUG] When you have no 3G network you can connect to GPRS but it's a "dead" connection (no surf at all)

But, if you connect to a 3G network, then switch by the air to GPRS, you can surf without problems.

I've tryed to change some GPRS settings, like slots and authentication, but nothing happened, maybe a bug in the radio rom

To add a Disconnect buttonfor GPRS:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2 = 8 (DWORD decimal)
To add a Disconnect button and a timer display showing how long GRPS is in use for the session:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2 = 16 (DWORD decimal)
To disable both the Disconnect button and the timer:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2 = 0 (DWORD decimal)
if the DWORD Flags2 is not there, create it

I dont know whether you are using the Oxios closeApps. my observation this aplication which gains you memory but leads that WMP cant paly untill next soft reset. same issue can be observed by the HTC X button.

A couple of question want some advice.

1) I notice that every time I reset the BT connection with my ear-piece will be gone. Any way to fix this?

2) How come Botton 2 (videocall) is missing in the Buttons menu? It was there with the old roms...

By the way, I installed this rom just last night. After 1 day usage, extremely happy about the speed and stability of it. Thanks Helmi!

Ahhhhh... and breathe  Just got my new XDA and flashed straight to this again, many thanks Helmi, I love it :D

Little edit... Helmi, you mention in your notes "New STK (same as My AKU3.5)"? What is STK? Just wondering cos when I first got the phone from O2 and initially set it up with the bundled ROM, when it first booted into windows is said something about sending a message with title STK or something (dodgy???)?

Never seen anything like that before.

Thanks again!
