Hi guys,
I've a problem to restore the original firmware of my VODAFONE V1640.
My PDA accept all the possible ROMs (from official I-MATE to AKU releases) but it don't accept the original VODAFONE ROM.
The problem is that, after upgrading the PDA with VODAFONE ROM the PDA remain blocked on splash screen with ROM version.
No soft/hard reset can solve the problem. To unblock the PDA I've to put it in bootloader mode and upload another ROM...any kind but not a VODAFONE ROM.
Any ideas to solve that issue? Is it possible that this problem is due to I've unlocked the EXT.ROM?
Thank you.
Pablo

Have you emptied the extrom before you flashed Vodafone rom? If not (and there were several files as programs etc) the flash could be failed because branded roms have specific extrom.

Hi,
yes, the EXTROM is completely empty, moreover the upgrade process is always SUCCESSFULL, no error messages.
I had one idea regaring extrom. After I flashed my V1640 with the IMATE rom, I've cracked the extrom to use it as storage memory. Do you think this can be the problem? An extrom unlocked can be restored to his original (locked) status?
Thank you.

Hi
I think complete branded roms (CE rom, extrom, radio rom together) must restore the hidden extrom condition.
Just some spot ideas:
do you put your device into bootloader before flash?
which bootloader version you have?
make a hardreset before flash
has your device been unlocked? (if yes I do not know what to do :( )
may your flash file be corrupted?
did you try to use maupgradenoid? (of course only if the flash file is not one exe)
did you do a hardreset after flash? (2 softkey and reset simultaneously then press zero)
good luck

Hi Dredd,
regarding your spot ideas:
1) Yes I've put the device into bootloader before flash
2) Version 2.01
3) Hard Reset before flash done
4) My device was not locked, VODAFONE ITALIA didn't lock it...I've just unlocked the EXTROM
5) Nope, other guys used it without problems
6) Yes I used both ROMUPG and MAUPG...same (unsuccessfull) results
7) Yes I did it...same (unsuccessfull) results
