WATER DAMAGE MDA[/B]:D
(My ENGLISH may not be good enough)
I had slept while I was taking a bath. My mda compact 2 had spent more than 15 min under water (probably best result as for XDA :) ).
When a had been awaken - the diod was slighty flashing, but there had been no other signs of life.
Here is what I did (or had done) and it (had) worked:
I:
1. removed battery
2. dried the phone with towel
3. searched the net for info
4 used a hairdryier to dry the PPC (not recommended by some authors if you can follow the next steps immidiatly ;exept the fith step of course;)
5. had a good night sleep
6. went to shop to buy T6 torx screwdriver - to disasseble the PPC
7. disassembled the xda according to the manual found on the forum
8. here is a terrrible step; put the MAIN BOARD into a demineralised water for
15 min ( remember to shake it very often)
9. put it into 96% ETANOL (bought at "alcohol site" in a supermarket) for 2
hours (shaking it from time to time)
10. dried the main bord and OTHER parts of the MDA for 1 day (sun and
fresh air) To REMEMBER: it is considered to be a basic error to put the battery to the xda too early).
11. Put the battery back into the phone - it didn't work - that was a nightmare
12. Waited 1 day and put the battery into the phone again - it didn't work again
13. Dissasebled the phone and brushed carefully the mainboard with the soft toothbrus - suprisingly there was a lot of contamination (gray-white powder)
14. reassebled the charmer, put in the battery - it worked :D
15 i couldn't believe- it worked
16 sk banchmarks are even better

Hello,
My bag with my Hermes200 accidentally fell into a fresh clear water river during a treck in the (lovely) Greek mountains...
I managed to pick up the bag at some point but it was completelly submersed and filled with water ... and so was my Hermes...
I feared that that was the end of it but i tried to save it any way ... and it worked !
1) I prayed to the Hi-tech gods really hard !
2) I immediately took of the batery and everything else i could without a screwdriver (basically the sim card)
3) I opened the keyboard and while firmly wolding it i started shaking it until the last drop seemed to have left the poor hermes...
4) I put it to dry open as it was under the sun
5) I wrapped it with a piece of cloth that was still dry and continued trecking ...
6) At home i took it out again and let it dry for a day ...
7) I then tried to put the battery back and pressed the reset with the pen... it only gave me an orange light and then it switched off...
8) I let it dry another day in sun where possible open without battery
9) I put the battery back and the screen lit up in very psychedelic colours but it seemed to boot (again with the reset). So I took off the battery again and let it dry some more ...
10) The third day it worked just fine ... just the keyboard still presents glitches
when I press Backspace it is giving me a "y", the y gives me a "backspace and y" the h gives an "rh" the r and "rh" as well the b an "fb" the f an "fb" as well ... very weird circuitry ... I hope in the next few days when the Hermes will be completely dry that it will come back to normal again ...
So there is a Hi-Tech god after all ... maybe it is Hermes!

I think , it is not good idea to put board in alcohol. ;) Small molecules of Ethanol can diffund over covers to circuit elements and corrupt semiconductivity...
Much better and safe is isopropylalkohol.
