I seriously doubt MS would jump from 5.2.xxx to 5.5.xxx in xbow... I am pretty sure they did it.

So it's likely that it's still the same old build everyone has, and just added some new icons, and changed the included apps lol.
I'll wait for someone here to release a new build when we get some genuine new code I think.

Nope, build 15660 actually does exist, but my first impression was that it still was flaky, and actually less stable than build 15341 ....

i hope so 2 ;-) but one question...in one of the first posts on "pdaviet" the write somethin in "viet" it seems like an compare between Helmi 1.1 and 2.0.6 PV!
so it´s a new ROM or only a customization from hemlis V1.1 ???
Bác Quang thông báo sắp có rom mới, hy vọng Rom PdaViet 2.00.06 PV khởi động nhanh và bộ nhớ nhiếu và ít suy giảm khi sử dụng. Chắc là ít nhất cũng phải ngang ngửa với Helmi_c v1.1.
Rất mong được sử dụng sớm.

Hibernate is part of the Oxios Memory, along with Cloe Apps.
It's been there since Helmi's original unreleased ROM that everyone seems to have used as a base so far. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's been deleted, but it was in Helmi's base.

Hello all.. just updated to 2.0.6 succesfully... but the onoly thing is,
I own a dutch t-mobile mda pro, and it installs all the dutch t-mobile customizations 2! isn't the extended rom cleared/replaced when you upgrade your phone? and if not, which cabs should i install onto my phone after doing the hard/soft reset trick to prevent install of customization?

It is fast.if I am not wrong it little faster than Helmis. But hey every new rom seams little faster ;0) Stable until now (no hangers or what so ever)

This is the helmi1.1 ROM
Only differences:
Broadcom stack removed
Usual pdaviet hicolor icon changes
Fonts increased with asian character sets
Minor registry changes and included app differences.
shellres fudged to show wrong build/version numbers.
Otherwise identical, right down to helmi's little mistakes :)
I would recommend people avoid these ROMs for now until we know we have a good clean base ROM.
Changing the build and OS revision numbers is simply misleading and a great way to completely lose credibility.

yee I am as well interested on why this ROM is so BAD?????
after 12hours testing I can say it is really faster than Helmi's 1.1; it is stable no problem at all.
The only think is Helmi’s Widcom BT stack does not function in this ROM at all. I love BT future Furthermore as previously mentioned AVantGo also doesnt function, It starts and showing massage updating fonts after that it shuts down
Frankly speaking, the ROM is good but BT stack and AvantGO will lead me to go back to Helmi’s 1.1
However, I wish Helmi could take the speed from this ROM to his next ROM Version.
Btw, yes PADVIET side is in Vietnamese but I f you ask the people there Question they are immediately responding and helping.

I am with you too, BroadCom BT and AvantGo are important to me now so I am sticking to Helmi's 1.1. I am keen on helping Helmi on improving the BroadCom BT Stack to resolve the small issues with some handfree headsets. Then the BroadCom BT stack will really rock as it provides so much more funcions!!!

Dear Alan
Could please take it easy on some new members around here as (being one of them 3 years ago) it's really a very hard process for those newcomers to the world of PPC, especially if their english language is not that good & this is their first piece of PDA they have ever dealt with, & it also can be their first post on any technical forum ever.
Accordingly those newcomers will seek some direct help through usefull forums like this one & via some experts like you & many others here, & am surely that being replied with such criticism can be very disappointing for them.
Thanks dear

Oh come on. Did you read his other posts asking for advice?
Humour/sarcasm is often an excellent way of handling inappropriate questions, Alan didn't hurl abuse at him, or tell him he was stupid, or ignore him, and if you look at the other threads where people posted answers you'll see there was no progress with each answer being followed by an equally aimless question.
Humour is an excellent way of getting someone to stop and think.

Am I the only one having problems to sync with my exchange 2003 on SBS with this one? Every other ROM worked flawlessly. Even the 1.0 from Helmi.
This one tells me always that my "security certificate on the server is not vaild" but IT IS. I installed the same cert as every time, even dumped it again from my server. The Date is set right and the same way it worked for every ROM-Release, even Crossbow, but NOW with this one it doesn't.
Any suggestions or does anyone have the same problem?

No faster or more optimised than Helmi 1.1 which they based it on.
This has been pointed out earlier in the thread.
I have yet to see a PDAVIET ROM that is not based on a Helmi, Midget, or Indra ROM so far, (the last two obviously being based on the original Helmi one).
They don't seem to be able to do anything themselves other than change the icons and apps they install in the ROM. None of the optimisations are by them.

so if somebody is writing it's optimized I like to now what is optimized
Ah, I thought you were goading them... knowing that there was no 'optimisation'. :)
I've done a detailed comparison of each ROM as it has come out, mainly as a learning experience for myself being knew to the windows mobile rom business.
I posted my comments on this PDAVIET6 ROM earlier in the thread.
The trouble is that every time any new image comes out, the crowd goes wild and there are innumerable posts ranting about this or that being faster or more optimised or tuned or some similar guff and noone actually looks at or reports the facts or detail.
In detail all of the difference between helmi1.1 and pda6 are:-
1. hi-colour icons added to several apps
2. broadcom stack removed.
3. OS version number buggered about with and machine Ident set to www.pdaviet.net
4. Fonts updated to include asian characters.
5. psshutxp added.
6. Various apps shortcuts added into different menus (office links etc)
7. PIE homepage changed to pdaviet.net instead of google.com...
even though WM6 IE ignores this registry.
8. Calendar, VoIP & Tasks today panels selected.
9. StorageManager\ReplStoreCacheSize & StorageManager\CacheSize increased from 1000 to 1056
10. "Storage" made visible.
11. looks like there's two VoiceCommand handlers enabled (?)
(although I may have misread the registry entries, anyway there's some change to the voicecommand config.)
12. VIETTEL added as an operator
What does that meen IVR?
ivor ~ IVR. :) That's just my ROM for me.
It was a cleaned up Indra image... but now its based on Helmi and so has very few changes. A few minor tweaks here and there, colour battery in top tray with 10 levels, signal icon shows a little U or G. Services I don't want disabled (i.e. I don't want voicecommand or the MS customer feedback agent) - 30Mb free whilst in use. That kind of thing.
Nothing too exciting, nothing you can't get from using helmi and a bit of tweaking.
ivorh
3rd February 2007, 12:11 AM
By the way... could helmi or someone else comment on that cache size setting?
Is that a typo? I thought the usual tweak to improve performance was to set the caches to "0x1000" i.e. 4096.

here on the ms blog, he says that "4096" is excessive because the number is "records" not "bytes" and that "256" is sufficient. Interesting.

er, yeah, they are hex. :)

I ran this ROM for a good week or two and put up with its slowness. I didn't want to try HELMI's because of the bloat but, DO IT. This ROM is so slow it makes you want to dive back to HELMIS AKU 3.5 1.1, until I put HELMIS Crossbow rom on. It is at least 5 times faster than this ROM.
My 2 cents, but if you stick with this ROM, you are are silly.

So what is optimized?
Can you explain please?
Cheers, Leo :)
Since I've been using this rom for about 3day now. I had no crash 99%. Trust me, the time during boot which goes from Windows Mobile green splash to the "Today" screen is much less than previous roms!
I use arabizer too and no remarkable issue yet! Phone, menus, context, fonts, screen orient., wi-fi, IE browsing, etc. Not a single issue I could complaint about.
Dont get me wrong that all other roms are crapy, it is just what is good and what's better I mean I dont go extreme from too bad to too good!! Helmi's was good and in my opinion just gr8, but when I arabize the device, it just goes slower! I mean when roms are tested they are just test based on the default lang. English, ain't it?
After all, it is just an opinion...

Hi, thanks for your answer and the explanation about current Rom and yours.
One more question, did you manage already to make a Rom dump, take some apps out and flash it back to your Universal?
As you can see in my signatur I'm on Helmi's Rom as well, also did some tweaks but always like to do some more to make my device faster:
IE Cache to storage Card,
Infrared beam disabled, for battery saving,
No battery icon on the today screen :D (Dinarsoft Handy Menu instead)
No Comm Manager on the today screen,
Broadcomm bluetooth stack enabled
(love to take the MS stack out of the Rom),
Sipchange tweak, thanks to Sleuth255 (I'm using Interkey Pro all languages)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271008,
MS error reporting disabled,
Szilamer's Word Suggestion fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291785,
Startclean.exe in my Windows/Startup folder, cleans the startmenu after softreset from recently opend apps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291875&page=5 (see my post there)
HTC-X button,
and ofcourse a lot of apps I need.
Program memory free: 26 mb after softreset.
As you can see I don't want to encourage people, I like to help them instead :D
My device is faster than ever before, no hangers, with a view small bugs left!
Cheers, Leo :)

Hi,
Well, thanks for your explanation, it looks good!
Anyway, I stay on Helmi's, because I like his Broadcomm stack and his Vanilla version. But I'm curious about this Rom now, only don't want to start all over again... flash, flash, flash, makes you grazy isn't, my device is running great on the moment!
Cheers, Leo :)

Well, I think that's the error that you get if the date and time are not correct on your device?
Failing that, have you managed to put the correct entry in the "Domain" box? I also use mail2web, and have to put "ad2" into the domain field. problem is that as soon as you put the "@" character into the "Username" field, the Domain box gets greyed out in WM6 and ActiveSync 4.5. I think it's possible to use an underscore "_" instead of the "@" character, which will get around this problem, but I don't have my Universal with me at the moment to check, and I'm damned if I can remember what I did, but I definitely got it working somehow...

Hi,
Ive been playing around with this ROM for a couple of days. It seem to work fine on top my Molski Rom and the new 2.26 Radio Rom.
Push Mail doesn't seem to work for me. I think it is a server problem and has something to do with the new way certificates are handled in WM6.
I also have the connection problem with MSN live.
When i try to use a radio stream the system locks.
Does anybody know what this "CAI DAT BAN PHIM VIET" program is doing in the system settings?
There seems to be a keyboardmapping problem as well. The Y and Z are reversed

Hi,
Some questions:
What did you do?
Did you disable Active Sync USB before flashing?
If not, deactivate it first in Connectionsettings.
Also important! Don't use a USB Hub.
Which bootloader are you using?
I use bootloader 1.02
Then when I want to flash, I sellect ROMUpgradeUt.exe
It always works with my machine, but some people get the Country ID error. If you have I suggest, you flash Helmi's 1.1 rom instead, in this Rom there's an extra map to fix the country ID error (with explanation how to do).
Don't know if this excist in PDA Viet rom you downloaded?
Cheers, Leo :)
Any ideas???
Thanks in advance.
