I try this update this version and it cause my phone to crash and now it can't boot to Windows (only to booter !!).
I try to use previse ROM I use to update (depod ROM) and it fail on 2% although I already did that once (I update from CHN to WWE).

Does this utility erase and lock the phone ??
Anybody know who to recover from that crash ?

I also had the lockup like L.A , but reverted to the dopod rom and run the program a second time. And now I am running the customised ROM :eek:

Mine is originally HTC P3300.

I confirm that the lite edition also works on my phone. I may stick with it because I want the freedom to choose my applications without cluttering my memory. The lite also have audio booster, graphic equaliser, and voice recorder, and media hub.

In addition to these, the customised one has Notem, GSFinder, Sprite backup, reset, BatteryStatus, Card export, and soft key aplet, opera browser, TCPMP, registry editor, etc.

I must be off now.;)

i can also confirm that this only works if you have a clean device, ie. you have to HARD RESET the device BEFORE you update with these roms (both lite & customized). (you also have to hard reset after the update)


ps. the also seem to have a third rom on their website, has anybody tried this?

p.p.s it seems that this rom does not allow you to go below the year or 2143 when you try to set the date and time, can somebody please try this on their device to see if they have the same problem.

The third ROM comes with some map software but I did not d/l it because I wanted a lean base.

You can set the date to "normal"by going to start>settings>system>regional settings and change from Thai to English (US)

The Dopod ringtones are also posted as a cab file at the same site.

Admins: Since this is not "ship ROM" where does it fit? Will upload later if there is clarification. The PDA Mobiz site is painfully sloooww :mad:

I have put them there now.

Tips: The hard reset procedure will not show a "lighted screen" , so hold the buttons a bit longer (i did it for 20-30 seconds :confused: ) before releasing them.
When phone is resetting and tells you ".....The cold boot did not complte ......."and you need to press yes, do not be in a hurry :p Just take some 20 seconds before clicking on the soft button.

If you get stuck, reflash the shipped rom and try again after the initial settings. (tip above was to hard reset before starting)

I use PDAMobiz_Dopod_P800W_AKU301_v1.1.2_PowerMap.exe and after 45 min. i reset mda compact III.
Now only bootloader : IPL 1.25.0001
SPL 1.27.0000
GSM 02.69.90
OS 1.28.0.0

press and hold the voice button + press reset once.... u will see bootloader screen... green+red.... plug in your your usb and run the orignal ROM or dopodau rom.

Every update says invalid model or invalid vendor. Is there a way to bypass this??? please help! It's a new phone and i have only used it for 1 hour but it kept locking up so a wanted to try new firmware.... :(

EDIT: I found romupdateutility_126.exe but evey tool (also the ones that said invalid vendor) can't find the connection. I rebooted everything and when i connect the phone in bootloader mode (red, green, blue) i see a pocket pc sync device in my device manager so everything looks ok. Why the missing connection??

Need a small help..I hv T Mob MDA III the T Mob version of Artemis..tried 2-3 times to update with Dopod ROM..didn't get thru the boot screen..Is it due to the missing Wi Fi component in T Mob version or something esle..

If you follow my little tips posted earlier in this thread you should be ableb to go past the boot screen. Fothe hard reset, I hold the 2 soft buttons and the reset button for abt 20 seconds, and release the reset button b4 the 2 soft buttons. Wait awhile and do a soft-reset. Follow the rest of the tips above and do a cold boot when asked on devices start.

I had no trouble upgrading the ROM to the Lite version. The device appears to be even more responsive than the HTC original ROM (this is possibly due to a lot more memory being available). The Lite version is what it says, very light indeed, nothing is included.

Upgrading to the Customised version is a different experience on this device. Whilst the Lite is a fairly easy and quick process, the Customisd isn't as easy.

If you are going to try it and are intending to do it successfully, I suggest you do the following:

1) Backup any important information (onto the memory card);

2) Remove the memory card;

3) Do a hard reset on the HTC: IMPORTANT: DO WAIT THE 20 SECONDS AS SUGGESTED BY A NUMBER OF OTHER PEOPLE OR IT MAY NOT WORK!

4) Once the upgrading process is complete perform a soft reset;

5) When the blue screen pops up asking you to perform a cold boot use the soft button to select yes.

That's it, it worked for me, I hope it works for you guys too.

i installed the customized version yesterday and boy did i sweat at first!

original rom didnt load anymore.


i advise you to proceed as follows:

enter bootloader and start installation routine from there on !!!!!

as to the gains:

dont see any major speed gains, but appreciate all the customized proggies!!

pity it doesnt have tomtom in it yet. will see to customizing my extrom once i get time.

ALL TOGETHER: GREAT STUFF !!!

However when I load the customised version of the same rom by PDAMobiz, my screen calibration is way out, and i get no programs except "coldinit" displayed under the start menu?

Update:Tried the PowerMap version and this is ok, trouble is i cannot uninstall PowerMap as it dosent show in the add and remove programs section.?

Powermap is a navigation software for Thailand only. It comes with map of Thailand; the full version has voice-directed navigation in English and Thai. However, this customized ROM contains only Thai voice.
gadjet - you cannot remove Powermap. It is incorporated in the ROM.

Ι am having the same problem here with the customized rom.... Does anybody found a solution? Also in lite rom i can't open wifi... i press the option to turn it on but nothing happends? Can anyone help??? Thank you!

reachability to me seems far better, cant say about sd card, since i never had a problem.

Change regional settings to your region. I don't have that problem on lite version. :)

After installing the lite ROM and playing with it for about a three days, I reverted back to the HTC original shipped ROM... and here are the reasons:
1) I did not notice any significant speed and responsivity improvement. :(
2) Bluetooth headset stopped to initialize voice dialer.
3) Wi-Fi became unstable... it requests from three to five tries to turn WI-FI on... never experienced this with the original ROM.
4) When using GPS I got incoming call, and it crashed the phone completely, only hard reset helped. Again, GPS+Phone worked perfectly on the original ROM.

The only positive was I never experienced SD card corruption problem with the new ROM... but maybe it because I got wiser and installed most of applications into main memory.

So, I flashed back the original ROM and quite happy with it - no bugs at least.

I'm pretty sure that's not going to stop anything...
Not allowed to host any more but doesn't mean no developing and them being hosted elsewhere. Eg this one is originally from pdamobiz not even xda.

Please be advised that OFR units are equipped with A-GPS and therefore, although you are able to reflash it with e.g. DOPOD ROM the GPS will not work with the new ROM. I had 2 OFR pieces and it was this way on both. However on 2 Generic HTC ones there was no problem with other ROMs.

I have O2 Orbit And it`s now stuck on boot screen after trying to install that one. So be carefull with that, make sure that you have RIGHT BackUp ROM to do so... And if anyone have the 02 rom, please PM me ...
And I have Lite version if someone need it ..
