=============================================
Hi everybody,
This is, I guess, what MANY, I believe, is looking for.
A good clean stable and fast WM5 rom based on AKU3.5 that you can change easily to your liking... right?
Well, your wishes come true. Here you will find my new ROM, the tools, and procedure to modify it!!!
It does NOT include ANY personal info.
It include clean original splash screen theme
It includes lots of Today-plug-in that you can disable if you do not want (disabled by default).
Modifications involve, beside adding & removing files, changes of hklm.reg, hkcu.reg, default.hv, and system initflashfiles.dat files. The ROM has been optimized to the extremes, hence if you decided you want to modify it please make sure what ever you add MUST be less or equal to what ever you delete.
It took me continuous 10 days of work and 8 flashes to get this procedure and ROM right.
I have tested the room and it works perfect ... however, please forgive me if I have overlooked something.
Note: I suggest you test the rom BEFORE you install any extra programs of your own ... and then again AFTER installation... so you can determine the source of the problem or the violating program, if any.
If you want to automate the installation of additional programs, stick the cabs file in the ExtROM directory in the SD-card and edit the config.txt accordingly.
To use the modification tools, just drop your favourit NK.NPF file in the RomEditor directory and click on steps 1 to 7 and follow the prompt.
It could not be easier ... Well, is it??? You will soon find out!!!!!!!!!!
Final word of thanks to tjlabais for his detailed tutorial, scripts and support. Many thanks to Mamaich for his incredible tools, as well as to Helmi_c, Buzz_lighter, Tofclock, and all those who contributed indirectly or in the past to get WM5 working on our Himalaya.

Edit1: Guys, please note I did not invent the wheel here!!! I only picked already existing work and put it into organized specific working method with example (my rom). So please no nag where did I get this or that from. What I am giving you here is next to perfect ROM that you CAN edit to suit your own taste.
Edit2: This method is NOT for new users - noob. It is NOT like the kitchen method. Also, question about the tools should be posted in the original thread by tjlabais.
Edit3: If you have problem download from MegaUpload, use this one: http://www.4shared.com/file/10238126/881bdc5f/llbasha-WM5-AKU35pp16a1.html?s=1
Edit4: Copy this file: \windows\iexplore.lnk to to here: \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\iexplore.lnk
Edit5: If you have slow startup or problem delete this file: \Windows\StartUp\psShutXP.lnk
Edit6: I got report of 500+ downlaods and 2000+ views bu no reports here on anything. Please file in your actual experence so others can benefit, regarding the ROM itself or the RomEditor tools. Thank you.
Edit7: Changing ramdisk size from registery only is not sufficient to pass the difference to program. New versions shall be released soon with different ramdisk size, but will keep 16mb pagepool.
Edit8: an new update rom version with 96mb program 16 ramdisk 16 pagepole

Dear llbasha
Please explain more:
In the text file "llbasha-WM5-AKU35pp16a1.txt
5. If you want to change the image/rom version (show on first splash screen bottom right corner), Go to address: 19, 82CDF, 1C1C18
search for old version and replace it with exact number of digits.
6. If you want to change the rom version and date that show when accessing device information from settings, search for the version in unicode, and the date stamp in ANSI.
7- Save your file and run 6ReassembleNPF.bat
[Correction is 7ReassembleNPF.bat]
And
In step no. 2
"When done, remove all HIDDEN attributes for ALL files.
Note: use Registery Workshop as editor for HKLM & HKCU even if nothing changed (not all rom modifications would require registery editing), i.e. open the file and save again irrespective)."
Please explain?

search for old version and replace it with exact number of digits.
llbasha: Open the nk.nba with hex editor... search for the older version you want to change. In my case, I find it at the above addresses. This process change only the image version that you see on first splash screen... ok
6. If you want to change the rom version and date that show when accessing device information from settings, search for the version in unicode, and the date stamp in ANSI.
llbasha: The same version shows also when you start you device, go to settings, device info. To change this, again open nk.npa with hex editor and search for it but in this case search using unicode. To change the date of the version, search for the old version date in ANSI and when you find it change it... OK
7- Save your file and run 6ReassembleNPF.bat
[Correction is 7ReassembleNPF.bat]
llbasha: There is no 6........bat anyway. Thanks
And
In step no. 2
"When done, remove all HIDDEN attributes for ALL files.
llbasha: I suspected that some hidden files may not be picked up by the compiler, so I removed all hiden attributes ...
Note: use Registery Workshop as editor for HKLM & HKCU even if nothing changed (not all rom modifications would require registery editing), i.e. open the file and save again irrespective)."

Yes, above screen shoots are from my rom on my O2XDAii and no one else.
This is clean ROM ... what are you taking about??? Please be specific... What is 100% clean???????????
There was some remaining space in the rom so I filled it with some VERY small today plugin and utilities and are disabled by default. So where is the problem. This remaing space you can't use it anyway once you cocked the rom.
Any I included the tools and steps to remove/add to your liking... So....

@The_hesham
This step is very critical and if you do not get it 100% right you will end up with totaly useless ROM. I suggest you skip this version editing for now and concentrate on the ROM itself. Did you you use it (flash it)? If so, anything does not work? Anything that you do not like and would prefer to change it?
NO ... NO ... do not delete any files, just change/remove the hiden attributes. If you do not know what is this, please please do not venture further.
Registery-Workshop is a commercial registery editor program, details of you can find it here: http://www.torchsoft.com
I repeat this method of rom editing is NOT for new users, you MUST have some reasonable knowledge of file systems, registeries, hex and unicode, scripts and dos batch files, etc.

Thank u llbasha 4 ur fast reply,
It covers all Ques. (as usual)
However as I said I'm using my own cooked ROM following bepe's method.
I was trying to add the communication manager from Tofclock 3.5 ROM.
I manage to get the 3 files that could be the hole package but it works with a strange view.
I asked him and it seems he is very busy with WM6.
This was the main reason I was trying to get out from his nbf file the registry that it seems to be the missing part to make comm.mgr. working porb.
Can u guide me to the way of getting the reg. from his ROM instead of installing it again and copy the reg.
Or what I should do?
If u don't have time fine I understand that.
Thanks in advance

In the RomEditor directory there is a file called RecMod.exe.stp rename it to RecMod.exe then drop Tofclock nk.npf file in this directory and run step one only ie _01-DisassembleNPF.bat this will create for you a complete dump and files. Take what you want from it.

I did as u said except the rename of the ResMod.exe file and the result as shown in post 17 and attachment what went out
When I copied them to Windows directory the image shown Communication manager and the written notes were behind the icones (Bluetooth, wirelsmanager,...etc). Also it appears 7 icons only not 8
I checked the registry it had 7 keys not 8
I think I miss something for the registry, the problem in Tof's ROM he is not using OEM pkg. and I could not find *.rgu files (except boot..rgu)
I searched for *.hv(boot.hv, default.hv & user.hv) and opened them by make_boot_hv.bat as the tutorial says
I open it and the text inside,
" usage: RGUComp.exe [-b | -o <hive>] [-nologo]
no paramaters: build default.hv and user.hv
-b : generate boot.hv
-o <hive> : output hive file contents to stdout
-nologo : do not display copyright information "
All what I need to find the missing file or information to make this communication manager working
Ahhh
Thanks for caring

1. Firstly, accept congratulations for cooking your own ROM.
2. Secondly, I have noticed that you are frantically trying to incorporate Comm manager in your ROM and posting your queries fetching no positive results.
3. I have specially extracted/prepared these registry settings for you regarding comm manager(though I dont use comm manager).
4. If you have put in all the exe/dll files into \windows then first try to install this cab. If it works then make an rgu and use it as part of your cooking kitchen.. I hope it should solve your problem.
In case there is still any query feel free to get in touch with me but not on this thread as advised by llbash in his reply above.

So, as far as my technical knowledge goes.. if it doesn't work, go back in your pases and find the error. The procedure is sound and works perfectly. Somewhere along the line you had an error.
Which reminds me: does anybody know how often the flashrom can be flashed with a new image? I mean, I know they have limits in these modules, but did anybody bother to find out? Just curiosity.. :)

Hi,
Is this screeshots from your new ROM?
I think there is some apps like Schekar ROM presente in this new rom.
I've returned to Helmi's rom, just because is almost 100% clean.
Thanks anyway for your work.
You are right superxx
This ROM exactly looks like c_shekhar's ROM with only boot screen change??? llbasha, are you sure you have not taken c_shekhar's ROM as base and did a little cut & paste here and there??? I am interested in trying your ROM if there is something improved...

I posted this question above for llbasha. But the answer is not forthcoming. I want to try this ROM only if it has any improvements oner c_shekhar ROM. It has been 4 days , I am using c_shekhar ROm and it is very good. I can change the boot sceen also by installing a cab but I like the way c_shekhar lists all the programs on the boot screen.

Use "HimaUpgradeUt_noID" you had from your previous rom.
Since you have/did NOT flashed the rom and/or used the rom, then I assum you know nothing about them, then you should have not voted and spoil it for other users who could benefit from it but put off by your wrong voting.

Thank you DeltaOne1 ...
The easy route is to use an english rom, then apply a german localization on it (convert menu, etc to German). I remember seening one either here or in buzzdev.net. This method is implemented by MANY people all over the world because naturally the rom is only available in few languages only, if not english and china only.

Good luck ...

Try this:
Do it ALL exactly in exact order ... even if you do not like it!!!
Disconnect your XDAii and cables from your PC.
Disable & Remove any usb devices connected to your PC (except keyboard & mouse).
Remove any usb HUB you may be using.
Uninstall Activesync (it does not matter what version .. just remove it).
Shut-Off your PC
Wait 30 sec
Switch on your PC
Install Activesync 4.2
Reboot your PC
Put your XDAiiin BootLoader Moder ... (you see Serial on the screen).
Connect usb cable to your XDAii
Connect other side (USB) to DIRECTLY to your PC ... (Serial change to USB on the screen).
Only now run HimaUpgradeUt.exe (copy attached)

Don't know this may be of any help to you as I encountered it before.
1. Check the IP address in the PC Local Area Connection is 169.254.2.2 and Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0
2. If there is connection between your PC and the hand held and you are trying to sync with your mail and contact and if your are using Outlook, try uninstalling and re-installing MS Outlook.
I am using ActiveSync Version 4.1.0 (Build 4807)
Hope it will re-solve your issue.

Hello there,
I have a qtek 2020i or SPV M1500 running WM2003SE.
My question is, do you know if there is a possibility of upgrading to WM5? Where can I download the software for this?
I have tried almost all the listed updates here, and I get the error message that I need an update compatible with me device.
Help, Please!

Ps. My bootloader spots the following: R = 1.03.00, G = 1337.42 and D = 1.11.00 WWE.

To the best of my knowledge, SmarDial does not work well with any AKU3.5.

I am using my bluetooth with GPS with no problem and have tested with many GPS software ... it works fine.
It is very simple ...
Enable you bluetooth on your device
just start you bluetooth GPS ...
Pair the two together
Creat an output com port associated with it (say com5).
Start you GPS software and set it to use com5.
That is all you need to do.:)
No it is not general problem ... I think you must have installed additional bluetooth software that is creating to you these problems.

Thanks for your reply Illbasha,
i have tried as you said but it doesnt work at my device.
When I use Navigon 6 he doesnt recognize the com port. And doesnt find the Bluetooth but it paired and has an outgoing port.
Tomtom 6 recognizes the port but when i choose the port he uses the gps for a few seconds then looses the connection .
Could there be some hardware problem ? Sometimes the XDA reboots when i try to connect the gps trough bluetooth.

The WM5 rom no longer use ms_.nbf (extended rom).

Re-flashed from Virgy to AKU 3.5 (llbasha). Great ROM. I must say it is a little slow for me but is quite stable far enough. No resets in 3 days so far. There were a lot of things I needed to look for since some apps DIR were moved/changed. But so far, good.
Will post more as soon as I get to test this baby further.

Led's came on again after straight away and function properly after reset. THANKYOU for your time!! :D

I have flashed my Qtek 2020 with llbasha-WM2005-AKU35pp16A2.rar. I have some minor issues:
1. Can I get rid the yellow background in SMS without reflashing with the C3R build? Some registry setting maybe?
2. My green/red phone lights are always on. Is this normal? I don't really remember how they were functioning with original rom. ;-) Record/Camera buttons work ok.
3. The shell extension for wav files "Set as ringtone" brings up the same functionality as "Send via MMS", thus no ringtone is added.
4. File Explorer Icon in the Start Menu was corrupt (no .lnk extension). I fixed that by myself, just mentioning it.
5. In Programs->Office, Calendar shortcut is named Calender.lnk. Fixed that myself too.
Thank you for your nice rom.

copy the attached calc.exe to your windows directory over-write existing one.
have the problem with the not running calc and flightmode. Could not copy the newly downloaded calc.exe to windows. probably write protection. If I try to delete the old calc.exe from windows - the option is dimmed. Could you please provide any reasonable explanation?
Besides that the menu options in contact manager shows mostly the overwhelming wrecked reminders of an abandoned playground.

because the calc.exe is in the ROM and cant be deleted and overwrite..
...decompile the ROM, add the new calc.exe then compile and flash..

Hey Guys,
Been searching for a new rom for my i-mate pocket pc and would love to try the highly recommended rom from IIbasha but I receive the below network error message each time I click on the link.
Firefox can't find the server at www.4shared.com.
Is the site down or is there some other sinister reason why I can;t connect??

install the attached file/fix..
what particular fix do you mean?
for now I've solved the problem installing the calc.exe instead of link to calc.exe in the start menu folder.
what you mean
my experience is that most programs work well except of the contact manager (I have around 400 contacts).
if in contact manager you click "menu" it has "new contact" - "filter" than 6 rows nothing, than a row of rectangles, than "send as vCard", than "SIM Manager". The menu takes all the screen. If you click on empty rows a question appears with yes no. similar problems occur in a single contact view. Sometimes the device does not do you want it to.
Because of many "undocumented" and wrong operational options, sometime one can loose an orientation inside the contact manager and even hang up the device. The hanging up has never happened before on my phone.
Minor disappointment is the convenience of the original MS contact manager at all. Before the upgrade I'd used the slightly different O2 replica. IMHO it is more user friendly and has better usability. I will appreciate if it is possible to integrate O2 one to your ROM.

Phone auto answer works perfect, but note it is designed to work with bluetooth handsfree headset. (I can't think for any other reason you would want your phone to autoanswer). Go to settings, phone, more, check answer incoming call after 1 ring. Pair your bluetooth device and enable it.
The messaging link is tmail.lnk located in windows directory.

Re. Contacts Context Menu, I only notice this when you pointed out here. I guess it is common issue with all roms. However, it does not seem to cause any problem so long as you only select the visible readable items from the menu. I have 1000+ contact and tested several times no hang up at all. I shall investigat further and let you know.

The contacts manager developed by Dotfred works just fine. This has really improved the manipulation of the contacts. Something else is wrong not the prog. see the snapshot attached....

Firstly, love that phrase! :D
Okay, a mate flashed his Orange SPV M1000 (PH10A) a few months back with a different WM5 ROM, and complained that it was really slow, and so he went back to 2k3se...
I read thru the whole of this thread, and see that you're getting masses of "Damn good job!" and "runs real fast!" so I'm gonna give it a go
Now to the *but* :p
I've never flashed a phone before, so I need to read up on backing up my existing ROM (bootloader too? anything else?), contacts, docs, etc etc, ad nauseum, ad infinitum - before frying my device
The question... Is all that info in your rar file, or do I need to go on a scouting spree to find all the "do all this before writing my new ROM onto your phone" ?
Also, what advantage would there be to add Radio_.nbf? What functionality does it give?
Mad screenshots btw - can't wait to see it in action
(PS... When you gonna start working on Hima_Crossbow? :) )

Try this solution.
Install attached very small cab on your device default (not ramdisk or card).
The cab will copy files to windows and create link that is mapped to the camera key/button.
When you dial a number and/or receive a call and want to activate the speakerphone, press the camera button.
You can assign other key of course, if you wish later on.
Note: The attached file has been updated 05.July.07
Note: before installation, use taskmgr to kill handsfree.exe to enable the cab to replace it with the new one.
I test it and it works fine.

1. Thx for this llbasha, I'll try it right now. So can I assign the "Speakerphone" button within the phone app to do this then?
2. My bluetooth headset works great, auto grabbing calls etc, but I noticed that the phone still plays the audio from the phonecall thru its speaker. No big deal, but if the speaker was disabled while the BT call is in progress, we'd get just a little extra battery life
3. One more issue... Tomtom6 ran like a dream on the orig wm2003 that my pda had on it, but since upgrading and re-installing the exact same version of Tomtom 6, it displays extremely dimly - almost unviewable even in the dark. Unfortunately, there is no brightness setting in tomtom. Any ideas/suggestions?
Thx in advance

Oki, I get "There is no application associated with "speakerphone". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application."

:) .TomTom6 ... download attached file and unpack it into Navigator directory over-write existing.
:) .The button has been assigned to speakerphone, to re-assign it to camera, go to settings, buttons, and assign it to camera.
:) .The speakerpone is toggle switch, press it again to switch to normal audio.

TomTom works perfect and I am using it as my default navigator. Check your installation carefully. All you need to do is install tomtom and configure it while it is still dim. When sure it is working, exit and replace the file as mentioned above and start again.
What error you get??? ... I am getting no errors and it is working fine.

I install my usual version of Tomtom6, install my maps in a folder on my Storage Card, and activate TT6
I run it, and the prog runs extremely dim - I can go thru all the menu's, settings, etc all fine (but cant connect to my BlueTooth GPS dongle yet... will figure that one out later)
I copy your replacement exe over, re-run TT6, and get the welcome screen, the warning text about using it while driving, which I Okay
Then I get "No maps found" with no option but Okay, which exits Tomtom6
I've tried installing a later version of Tomtom6 too - both with my current maps, and with the maps that came with that later version - all installed from the proper Tomtom6 PC installer program, but get the same as your fix - "No maps found"

Oki, that got me into it! Thx
Unfortunately, when I switch to my UK map, my device reboots, and then gives me a "Storage memory is critical" warning
The only things I've installed into main storage are a couplo small sound files, and a skin :/ On WM2003 you had a slider where u could allocate memory manually, but that seems to have gone with WM5
Next, I need to get the bluetooth GPS device working. It's paired up fine in my BT settings (on WM2003 it was COM5 - no COM5 showing in WM5)
---
I'm stupid! I *had* in fact installed Live messenger on it, so out that went - that freed up my memory
For those who use a none-Tomtom bluetooth GPS device:
In WM2003, in Tomtom GPS settings, I had to select "other NMEA device" and gamble thru the various ports until I found my device
In WM5, you need to setup an outgoing port (Start/settings/connections/bluetooth/COM ports), "New outgoing port", select your device, it is given COM0 as default - keep this. Finish. Now go into Tomtom GPS settings, and select "other bluetooth device", and select COM0
Job done
llbasha - Thx very much for your patience and help - I have a meeting tomorrow at a remote site I've not been to, and was totally counting on TT to get me there!
---
Arghh! Freed up nearly 6meg in storage, and Tomtom6 is still crashing - Even if I select the right GPS settings for my GPS device, and then quickly exit Tomtom6, my PDA will still reboot a few seconds later :(
Patience...
---
After that last reboot, fingers crossed, things seem to be fine
---
Everything went swimmingly - 70 miles round trip, and no more reboots - we got it sorted

Just to be sure, when I got back home I re-replaced the exe in the Prog Files\Navigator folder again, and the Guam maps again - in case somehow they had gotten corrupt, but still the same problem...?
Any ideas?

Am still loving this ROM, but one snag after having used it for a while now...
On WM2003se, I had plenty of room on C: but in this WM5 I only have a few meg free, and a Ramdisk of 48MB
Is there any way of removing the Ramdisk and giving the memory back to "\" ?
The mem slider that was in 2003se seems to have been removed in WM5...
I use SD cards as storage, and even install all my progs in there, so my Ramdisk is unused, and "\" is so short on space that I can't even store mp3 ringtones in \Windows\Rings
Thanks in advance

I have the exact same problem.
I would love a ROM with at least 64 MB reserved for Storage Memory like in the original Windows 2003 First Edition.
Some programs contain system files that you can only install into the main memory (such as Superb Pocket Plus).

i have been using your 3.50pp16b1 ROM for a couple of months (great...),
and now i am using the 3.50pp16c3 version (great...)
first problem is calculator. but have it solved (ok....)
second is menu on contact. it display a couple of blank menu and one weird menu with a couple of box (look like ascii character that cannot be displayed, or like using a wrong font or something).(ouch...)
i have read a post similar to this, and also read another post (with screenshot) that saying no problem with this.
have you find out about this anomaly ? please let me know.
or... have you create new version that include fixed calculator and contacts?
thanks a lot.

Guys,
First at all, Thanks a lot Ilbasha for your excelent work! I've been using your ROM (A2), for about a day, and it's great. I've found only one little bug: When you tape the Start soft-key, aplications in the bottom part of the menu, start duplicating each time you tape Start, endless. Finally you have an endless list of repeated programs before to get Programs and Setting. Only fix is soft-reset or make some change in the Start Menu.
Anyway, I've just noticed you have a new version so, i will have to take a time in my not-so-interesting job and flash it up. Sadly there were some of the apps you removed i had found interesting. No probs, i'm sure i'll find them on the web. BTW torrentz has tons of ppc apps.
Hope some day i'll have time to contribute to this comunity, and keep the ppc developement growing up!
Thanks again Ilbasha,
Cheers,

No. There is... my first upgrade for himalaya was Xda_II_172187_Final.exe that I've downloaded in O2 website (I think. i forgot). And the STK for sim seems working but it has a bug that if you choose to exit the application, it doesn't exit. Can you try to get it and include it in the new ROM for wm6 for hima?

Thanks for the feed back:
1- This is to do with the theme you are using not the rom. Try better theme
2- The certifications have been disabled in this rom. You should not have this issue. Are you sure you are using above rom? Please name those applications
:)

Had the same problem (certifications) with TryLaunch...

Hi, i'm new and novice in this field. I recently flashed your rom onto my XDA ll. The calendar doesn't work. I searched through this thread and you only mention to run a fix file but I cannot see it anywhere. Please show me hoe to fix this problem. I've found the another CALENDAR file in WINDOWS directory & tried to run it. But it too has error msg "Unexpected error has occuirred in this program". Any help is highy appreciated.

Can anyone give me a link with the ROM ? Because the ones already existing on topic are old and not valid. Thanks.
