There are any tweaks to improve the range of wifi in universal ?

I have already set to maximum in wifi settings the option "optimize for perfomance"

Do you know some registry tweaks or chip hack tecnhics to improve wifi range ?

My friend nokia n80 and my laptopt as far more range than universal.

Just for comparassion the nokia was floating arround excelent and good signal , and my universal was no signal / poor signal and can not connect to internet...

I think the WiFi range on my XDA IIs needs improving, but I don't know if its a hardware or firmware/software issue..

I've just "upgraded" from a Dell Axim X3 with which I used a Sandisk 256Mb+ WiFi SDIO card and my WiFi range has dropped dramatically.

So why the move?
a) WiFi SD meant swapping SD cards around all the time
b) no bluetooth on the Axim X3 that I had
c) tired of carrying a phone and PDA

I've seen mod's and upgrades on this site, but often it's unclear which devices they're suitable for... Of course, I try the WiKi for BA first..

Help please?

Well, From my experiences, the Universal's wifi range is almost as good as other wifi devices I have... as long as your wireless router is put in the right place..... :p

I used to have great problems with my universal's wifi connection, it's just not xxxxing stable, I mean it was connected a min ago, and then it disconnect whenever I use it, and I have to be in that very same room with the wifi router to get a stable wifi connection

Therefore, I bring it to the customer service for over 5 times, the repair guy just keep telling me everything is fine, everything is good, your wifi on your universal is PERFECT! And the dan thing is, it work perfectly for over 30 min in their office.

so I kept changing my wifi router, and another..... but then after some time, I found out all I need to do is place my wifi router indoor, Do not place it near/next to any window, but maybe put it in the middle of the apartment/house/office ....

I found out the Universal is easy to disturb by ANY interference, and place your wifi router near/next to your window will somehow do that. Once I place the wifi router "indoor" everything work just fine

try that, I am pretty sure it will work

J:rolleyes:

Sounds like a good idea, thanks. I'd have to do some fairly major re-wiring to move my wireless unit though as it is the ADSL modem also and in an office which is not in the main house. Maybe I will have to buy a 2nd wireless unit for inside the house; I have a wired connection between the office and the house.

Strange, though. My Axim would always connect from certain rooms in the house, now by BA doesn't. Perhaps the antennae in BA's need improvement:eek:
