GPRS connects even with WIFI on? [Archive]

hi, i have a question, i have helmi's 1.1 rom with 1.3 radio installed, and when i have my wifi turned on (and connected ofcourse!) it still connects to gprs when i want to send/recieve mail, and on occasion it tries it when i am on windows live messenger... when i try to press the abort button, it either ignores me and connects again to GPRS, OR my universal goes NUTS and usually ends up in me soft resetting the device to get the device working again... :(

Also when i'm in the today screen and i open up my comm manager and tap the wifi connect button and then close the comm manager window before it is fully connected to wifi, the device also freezes....

Any suggestions?

It's windows live messenger that's doing that. The windows mobile team blogged about it they did it because "the radio module can be put into a low power mode but the wifi can't".
It should be a user configurable setting. but it isn't.
