Bluetooth Dial Up networking on < AKU 3.3

Maybe I jumped the gun on this one... and I just haven't read enough yet. I flashed my Cingular 8125 (WIZA100) to the tmobile 2.6 ROM. Tmobile is my carrier, my PDA is now unlocked, and works ok for what it is, and I assume it's just like the tmobile MDA now.

I wanted to get my Nokia 770 on the net via a bluetooth tether. I know this has been discussed before, but I am just now realizing that I don't HAVE AKU 3.3, It more like 2.3 (14955.2.3.0). Forget the nokia for a minute, lets try PPC to PPC.

So I tried to keep it simple, and see if my widcomm BT stacked h6315 "client ppc" would find a BT DUN service on my "server ppc" (mda wizard 8125 hybrid). It finds NO services at first. Then I enable IR on the 8125, and a new incoming connection (com 6), and it shows up a serial port service on the client. That's useless to me right?

I SHOULD have BT DUN shouldn't I? Since I don't have the 3.3 ROM installed? Is there some simpler hack that I'm missing, like a registry hack along the likes of the PPC-6700 for tethering the sprint PDA? Or is it even dumber, like a check box I missed somewhere? That modem link tmobile software is garbage right?

you don't need any reg hack - it SHOULD see the DUN profile as you have a pre-AKU3 ROM (as is also explained in my related tutorials).

I think the problem is caused by that the h6315, being a PPC PE device already, doesn't let for using EXTERNAL modems.

Give this a try: if you have a BT stick / built-in BT support for your notebook / desktop, try
1. to search for the BT DUN profile from there
2. enable the DUN service on the desktop and make the 6315 discover it, if it can

I do have a couple USB sticks, but right now I don't want to figure out what driver goes with what stick (office is a mess). I had it all setup on a laptop, for testing, but it's buried somewhere. I will if I need to though, but not till this weekend.

OTOH, when I was pairing the two PPC's (8125 and h6315), the h6315 offered DUN TO the 8125 (and I think file exchange). The h6315 can give and GET net access to/from my laptop via BT, as well as give to the nokia. I think I even tried getting net access via an old motorola v330 phone. The desktop was also configured at one time to give network access to the old X5 axim.

I remember it being maxed out at around 250kb/s (which is enough for EDGE, but shameful for sharing the laptop's 8mb/s connection at the office.)

The only problem with the h6315 was, it didn't support EDGE, and it's GPRS was toooooo slow from day one.
