Solutuion found: how to flash any rom to CIDLOCKED DEVICE [Archive]

!!!BE SURE THAT YOU DO SOMETHING AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
!!!FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTION FOR STEP BY STEP!!!

I want to say that Im not a real programmer, I found some way to flash CID LOCKED device and wrote only shell (with userfrendly interface) and collected some useful tools.
Special thanx to itsme for his tools (if i dont mistake...)

WARNING!!! IF YOU WILL SEE CMD WINDOW DON’T CLOSE IT!!!
WARNING!!! DON’T TOUCH YOUR PC OR DEVICE WHILE FLASHING!!!

With this tool and my instruction you could:
1) Get info about ROM
2) Extract only OS from whole nk.nbf
3) Flash this OS to your G3/G4 CID LOCKED Device (even wm6 rom or latest aku 3.3 rom).

In atachment there are:
1) ShellTool.doc - instruction. Read first and please, follow it step by step!!!
2) ShellTool.exe with some other files that it need
3) Cert_SPCS.cab/EnableRapi.cab - should be installed on your device

I tryed to flash diffrent rom to g4 CID LOCKED DEVICE and its were flashed on it and worked perfect. Have fun:)

If your device doen't boot after flash procedure with my shelltool you should
1) Hold "Camera" while short pressing the "reset" button. Your device will enter in bootloader mode. You will se 3 stripes.
2) You should connect your usb cable to your device and pc and run RUU and flash this rom. ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Roms/Other_Unknown/Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii+CF2.rar
3) read my instruction once more and repeat all step by step. its very important!!

No, now it can install only OS. I think i include this (extrom writing) feature in next release

found some problem with old rom (try to unpack molski 2.26 rom). My tools can't extract it correctly. So be careful. Ill fixed this bug tommorow...now need to sleep..)

Couldn't flash G4 CID-locked with "Faria 3.3 v2". The utility just doesn't flash it.
Flashing now with Orwell's WM6... let's see what we get :)

Yep! Worked that perfectly to me! No need to CID-unlock the Wizard :)

i tried installing wm6 pdaviet4...but now it is stopped at the screen with ipl spl

GSM 02.07.10
OS 10.1.0.011

no itsutils errors...nothing wrong while flashing...:(

EDIT: Now works. Entered in bootloader...flashed back old rom...e tried again.

Probably my error was a notification that poped up while flashing :(

I cant seem to flash any sort of rom. Ive tryed to flash aku 3.3 farias v2, doesnt work, molskis aku 3.2 doesnt work. I dont want to flash wm6 because i havent got a version that i want to flash it with. What am i doing wrong? I followed the instructions and when i go to flash the device, it goes pretty much instanly to

It works well.
What I understand is this thing flash the system rom part while runing the OS instead of putting the device in a flash mode.

Btw, I was used to work with a virutal machine (emulated XP becaause of Vista) and I wasn't able to flash correctly.
Each time, it wouldn't go to the end of the process.

wht do you mean for saying that you brick your phone?
If your device stucks on SPL splash screen you should flash your device in bootloader mode with OFFICIAL ROM (with SPL/IPL/OS etc). And then repeat to follow my instruction step by step! So eddieitman is absolutely right!

this will have happened as you did not reboot after instaling the cabs i did it once after flashing several times easy way to fix is find a rom that works with your phone (oficial one) that has ipl.spl reflash in safe mode and it will work again make sure you reboot after instaling the cabs for it to work

when i don't like the rom is it possible to go back to the originel rom?

I made a backup with sunnysoft backup manager which also backups the registry. can i with this backup put al my originell files back in the new rom?

you should flash latest official rom. you can do it without any problems.
as for registry back up im not shure if it will work

personaly i would not use a backup to recover reg settings as the wm6 registry is slightly different than wm5 and you are going to mess things up

ok, big problem here. the install failed and the cingular rom will not reflash. it keeps failing at 95% saying that the NBF is invalid.

(i tried flashing with the orwell wm6 rom and it told me that some n____.exe program could not be initialized and the device was frozen)

when i soft reset now, it goes straight to the bootloader. i have an IPL and SPL but no OS or EXT ROM

i found it crashed on vista, but it could just have been vista being over precatious.

im sure if i left it it will have worked as when i pulled out the usb and soft reseted, it showed os as 3.3.0.0

anyway, i thought i had bricked it, but i just entered bootloader and reflashed with the o2 rom

gonna go and try the wm6 rom tomorrow on my xp computer

I used this app and i successfully flashed my locked G4 to the latset Aku 3.3 v2 rom by faira etc.

It didnt work for me. Now my imate is stuck with a blank white screen. Im working to try and resolve this, but any help would be appreciated.

Express caution with this guys, i'll edit the post if i can fix this.

Just enter in bootloader mode and flash it with official rom!

I tried to flash locked G4 with different roms - custom AKU2, AKU3, tried pdaviet 4 and Crossbow build 660 - all worked like a charm!

One more thing: could you post here source code of your tool?
I noticed that your program shows different parts of rom, like:

This ROM includes:
9b000000 00a00000 bc7a545d Extension Rom
80040000 03900000 442b0348 OS
92000000 00030000 07da0e96 Splash Screen
9d000000 00010000 ae7d0993 HTC Logo

So, I'm just wondering, if it is possible to flash also extended rom, splash screen and logo with your tool making additional source modification. AFAIK, creating rom image that containe only splash isn't a hard job - I sew corresponding topics somewhere here. That would be really greate to flash also ext rom and logos with tool "all in one".

all:
Ones I did something wrong and wm6 flashed wrong way, not to the end. So, I have no possibility to browse file system and there was missed a lot of apps, like email client, contacts, etc. Beside, tap screen wasn't functioned properly - I tapped in one place of screen, and event was invoked like I tapped in other place.

So, the only solution was to flash existing G4 rom as usual - and the only which flashed successefully was Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii+CF2 (ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Roms/Other_Unknown/Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii+CF2.rar)

Then I flashed with mun_rus tool to pdaviet 4 with no problems. So, I recommend this rom for every one who have troubles after flashing G4 locked device.

bwesty and all it is very good advice to flash Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2 ROM to solve your problem with device stucking, coz this rom could be flased to any g4 cid locked device and it contains all parts of official rom.

its very difficult to revive this now seeing as you dident read the instructions you will be unable to read a post a little further back that i made in this very same topic on how to resolve it, this only happens if you dident re-boot after installing the two cab files.
You know when people take the time to right instructions at least read them.
But maybe you should post you phone number so that i can call you directly if these strange characters in front of you make no sense (ohh wait a minute your phone dont work)

PrOwler, i suggest you check the ftp site for your o2 rom, or go to your manufacturer's website.
I suggest you use the wizard love rom, i flashed it with no trouble when i thought my imate was bricked.

downloaded the O2 rom from the ftpsite entered the bootloader mode and coneted to pc via usb ,when I run the RRU it says no device connected check connection.

these r the files in the ftp site:

well i just flashed and i got to make hard reset. lol

11) ONLY AFTER “END” MESSAGE YOU SHOULD DISCONNECT YOUR DEVICE AND MAKE HARD RESET!!! IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!
* 1 - Holding "Voice Dial" + "Wireless Manager" while short pressing the "reset" button
* 2 - Hold the 2 buttons until you see the screen telling you to press send button to hard reset.
* 3 - Press "send/dial" button to hard reset

I can't get it to ask for the send/dial button. it just starts recording sounds.

It worked great!
I upgraded my CID locked G4 from Love Wizard to Orwells1984, the only hickup was an error message displaying "Can´t execute repllog.exe" I just ingnored it and I waited until I got the end message from the Shell Tool.

I had the same problem. I retried by rerunning EnableRAPI and then installation went great. Than i performed a hard reset (go start->settings->System->Clear Storage and follow instructions(First make a backup of your PPC)). My system is working perfect now!!!

I started to flash wm6 rom and i using this prog to do that... but the program was freeze and the pda wasn't make a reaction for anything...:( I tried your advice, but my pc wasn't recognize the wizard. So i taked off the battery and tried to turn on, but didn't go forward the grenn screen where i could read the version of os, radio etc etc. What can i do? somebody help me, i am confused :confused:---> maybe i could solve the problem...:)

Did you read and try this texn in bold in header? Was that useless? I'm sure this should help as this is definetly your case.

rokujou, it only takes my pc about 8 mins to flash...hopefully its alreasy flashed your device and you havent noticed. Otherwise perhaps you will have to try again.

NO. It does not touch the IPL (not possible with pdocread), SPL is protected as is GSM

yesterday morning I bricked a brand new Qtek 9100 following , ( I didn't expect anything else, cause I missed the detail mentioned by Dr Puttingham's :

I simply don't feel so enthusiastic since i knew it was possible and since i have a factory CID/SIM unlocked G3 Qtek9100 and no particular taste for cooked roms.

I want to say that Im not a real programmer, I found some way to flash CID LOCKED device and wrote only shell (with userfrendly interface) and collected some useful tools.
Special thanx to itsme for his tools (if i dont mistake...)

WARNING!!! IF YOU WILL SEE CMD WINDOW DON’T CLOSE IT!!!
WARNING!!! DON’T TOUCH YOUR PC OR DEVICE WHILE FLASHING!!!

With this tool and my instruction you could:
1) Get info about ROM
2) Extract only OS from whole nk.nbf
3) Flash this OS to your G3/G4 CID LOCKED Device (even wm6 rom or latest aku 3.3 rom).

In atachment there are:
1) ShellTool.doc - instruction. Read first and please, follow it step by step!!!
2) ShellTool.exe with some other files that it need
3) Cert_SPCS.cab/EnableRapi.cab - should be installed on your device

I tryed to flash diffrent rom to g4 CID LOCKED DEVICE and its were flashed on it and worked perfect. Have fun:)

As far as I understand, after flashing with shell tool and making hard reset you still see "your device will be customized in 3 second" window after booting. Thats ok - it's previous extended rom programs, that defined to run after hard reset. If you just don't want to make any customization after reflashing and hard reset, make one more hard reset and while you see this customization message "your device will be customized in 3 second" window, just make soft reset of your device. It will reboot and after booting you will not see this customization window - no one program from extended rom will run without your help anymore :)

If you tap Start >setting>connections>USB to PC you´ll get to the screen to enable or disable the network functionality, which reads "Changing the type of USB connection your device uses can help with problems connecting ActiveSync"

I've been reading this thread since it was first posted and am very excited at the prospect of getting a AKU 3.3 or WM6 rom on my G4. I've been holding it out until the kinks get worked out, but it seems most stuff is in line. I am confused about one thing though, the extended ROM. What i want to know is, if I install the Faria AKU 3.3 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291806) will I be missing anything on the list of features besides the IPL/SPL/Radio ROMs?

I just install PDA viet 3,
But as you said to hard reset after setup end, i could not because the device was on. So it was reseted and it did not went in send mode. But it started with screen orientation like it was hardreseted.
The problem is i found in this OS clearvue Pdf, Voice dial, which is not in the rom.

I am running the Wizard Love Rom and its fine, but i would like to upgrade to 3.3 and possible later to WM6.
I need to know if this method is safe for G4 and the problem they have with the IpL thing.

i cant seem to be able to flash farias rom. both the time once it flashes and i hard reset it gets stuck on the ipl spl gsm os screen.

the os seems to be updated but it doesnt move further. i have to reboot in bootloader and fix it with wizard love. going to try pdaviet4 now.

EDIT: same error with other roms as well

all the steps go fine. and when i hard reset it comes back to the same boot screen, shows the change in OS but gets stuck there.

Last day it happened to me also while flashing the underground crossbow rom, it stucked in the ipl spl screen, i got terrified as i dont know what to do. Then i just recollected all the information i ever read in this forum, dowladed the original ro flashed in the bootloader mode. And it started functioning.

I want to know whether anybody worked it with underground rom, and Faria's 3.3.

@eax -> WM6 roms arent hosted on the ftp, you need to search for them yourself.

At this stage there are many other roms on the ftp, though they will be removed shortly.

Different roms suit different people's needs, its a matter of personal opinion as to which one is the best. It depends what you use your pda for and what your looking for in a rom.

If your device stucks on SPL splash screen you should flash your device in bootloader mode with OFFICIAL ROM (with SPL/IPL/OS etc). And then repeat to follow my instruction step by step! So eddieitman is absolutely right!

All the same it is useful to somebody.

"Already many know that mun built Shell tool, which was capable of pouring axis into Wizard G4 with SID Locked, but to the enormous regret it does not know how to pour with Extended Room.
Recently it decided to be played a little with the program of nb2nbf and to verify, is it possible by nevertheless any means to renew also Extended Of rom to CID-Locked apparatuses. And which there was my happiness, when I revealed after reflashing that he renewed.
It decided by the same method to try to flood Splash Of screen and HTC Of logo - everything proved to be very simply.

In view of the small quantity of information on the forum on Device Of wizard G4, it decided to build brief instruction on its reflashing.

1. We stitch through apparatus by pure piercing - Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii+CF2.

2. By the program of typho5 we unpack nbf the file of piercing, which we desire to pour into the beast.
First we fill up into the folder with the program of nbf, and then start with the parameter of typho5.exe - x nk.nbf. After procedure we obtain several files, in number of which is contained OS itself, Extended Of rom, and also as a rule Splash Of screen and HTC Of logo.
(P.S.. For convenience in the use of program made bat-file. Simply you will place nbf into the folder and will neglect typho.bat)

3. Now we gather our nbf file, each at will can include any desired components in it, naturally, except axis itself.

4. We go in very programm of nb2nbf and we make the following tuning:
- We establish Model ID: WIZARD
Language: it is empty
OEM: it is empty
Operator of version: it is empty
CID: it is empty (very important); remove the numbers, which are contained inside the field
- We establish tisk opposite “File of # 1”, we click on the button of survey (button with three points), we find the file Of extended Of rom' and (in the folder of typho5, the exemplary name of 9b000000-Extension.nb)
- In the field “Of start Of address” we enter 9b000000
- In the field “Of image Of name” we enter Extension rom (not Extended rom, you be attentive!!!)
- In the point “Of file of # 2” we find Splash screen, in the field of address we enter 92000000, in the field “of image of name” we write Splash screen.
- In the point “Of file of # 3” we find HTC logo, in the field of address we write 9d000000, in the field “of image of name” we write WITH HTC logo.
- We press button “Translate”
- Extended ROM is ready, it is possible to stitch through.
Unnecessary for you files it is possible simply not to include, but to insert, for example, only one by ExtROM.

5. We place the obtained file of nbf into the folder with reflasher and start. Procedure as with the usual piercing, lasts in all the pair of minutes.

6. We pour the axis shell tool from mun.

You can use my Wizard Service Tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295038) and simply flash the extracted Extended ROM or OS (with typhoonnbfdecoder) to the desired zone. You can even make backups that can be later used to restore :D

That comment was made to answer a particular question. ;)
My tool does exactly the same as Shelltool since they both use itsme's pdocwrite.exe . The difference is that Shelltool makes it easy to extract files from nk.nbf (i can make mine do same) and mine allows to write to different areas of the DOC ship while Shelltool only flash OS

But hey, i'm not trying to compete. I was just showing an easy way to flash an extended rom without having to 'pack' it inside an edited RUU

I heard that you can't make a dump with CID locked.
But you can find the original firmware of your device in Internet that could be flashed with CID locked because it contains SuperCID.

You can't do an "r2sd all" dump but you can use pdocread.exe (and tools like aWizard or Wizard Service Tool) to dump the different parts of the ROM

There isn't a 'G4 ROM'. Only the IPL and SPL differ since they are responsible for the start of the hardware and that is what is different between a G3 and a G4 device (DOC chip= hardware)
The RUU detects the DOC model and flashes the bootloaders accordingly. People like us that do it manually (cook roms for eg) must choose carefully. But OS is same for all :p

I want to say that Im not a real programmer, I found some way to flash CID LOCKED device and wrote only shell (with userfrendly interface) and collected some useful tools.
Special thanx to itsme for his tools (if i dont mistake...)

WARNING!!! IF YOU WILL SEE CMD WINDOW DON’T CLOSE IT!!!
WARNING!!! DON’T TOUCH YOUR PC OR DEVICE WHILE FLASHING!!!

With this tool and my instruction you could:
1) Get info about ROM
2) Extract only OS from whole nk.nbf
3) Flash this OS to your G3/G4 CID LOCKED Device (even wm6 rom or latest aku 3.3 rom).

In atachment there are:
1) ShellTool.doc - instruction. Read first and please, follow it step by step!!!
2) ShellTool.exe with some other files that it need
3) Cert_SPCS.cab/EnableRapi.cab - should be installed on your device

I tryed to flash diffrent rom to g4 CID LOCKED DEVICE and its were flashed on it and worked perfect. Have fun:)

You need to extract the nk.nbf file from the executable. This then needs to be placed in the same folder as the shell tool. This is well documented.

Placing the .exe in the shell tool will do nothing as the nk.nbf hasnt been extracted from it.

Sure!! But I extracted nk.nbf and put it in the same directory of shelltool!
Shelltool shows "this is a custom rom"... but it's not true!

I'm looking all it's written in the tutorial because I'm afraid to brick my MDA VARIO which is G4!
Also,
is possible to backup current ROM from the phone?
I bought it used from ebay so I can't understand where to download original ROM.
I like only to change language...

I installed wizar_Love, and later WM6, since in the first attempt I failed.
Now when initiating, from the IPL/screenSPL, the system starts with screen of AKU 2.3, and later load WM6.
this is normal?

This Tool only installs OS Rom to your wizard! What u see on startup is the "HTC Logo". If you want the right one, you have to flash it on the way discribed on page 17 of this thread!

You Have one G4. (IPL/SPL 3 zeros)If you don´t pay money by unlock. Your CID is Locked.

Get this tool ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295038 ) which reads the CID

As for the WM6 ROM you must Google for it as you won't find it here. Microsoft doesn't allow hosting the files in forum servers.

And as kaciker said, read first post (and also the whole thread) with attention as you'll get to know how to do it and what is needed

Thanks for the help.

As you can tell by my signature, I managed to get it installed ok.

However, when receiving calls, it simply displays INCOMING CALL and does not show the Caller ID until after I answer the call.

How do I fix this?

If you ever happen to get stuck in the IPL / SPL screen, try the following (it happened to me and I almost got a heart attack...):

Well the thing is. i've resorted to using the shelltool bugfix version.
and it doesn't give me a percentage of completion, no indication of progress.
is it supposed to give an indication of progress from anything other than the log window?

Nope, RUU app does update from the bootloader. You only update with a running OS if you use a RAPI application (like my tool or this thread's - Shelltool)

The difference is minimal since it's the OS that takes longer. Other chuncks are rather small (ext_rom maybe not) and flash fast

help! i used this shelltool to flash wm6 most beautiful and when i did the hard reset at the end my phones stuck at the load screen (cingular), hard resetting and taking out the battery isnt working... please help.

I would try it as they're indeed almost identical (as it happens with typhoon, for which most of the tools were made) but that's me and i like to take chances :D

ok first off please dont flame or bash me for i admit i am completely new to ppcs. i have had a g3 device for a few months and now afte rit broke asurion (insurance) sent me a device i realize is g4. now i have not have any experience with any ppcs at all yet and wanna learn. i have a tmobile mda
first how do i go about backing up my phone or locating an original rom (tmobile ) that if somehting happens i can just flash and be ok.
secondly how do i flash a new rom say wm6 onto my phone do i just go into bootloader, connect the phone, and run the program?

I used the shell tool on my wizard and was very happy with the results flashing wm 6, but I tried on my partners wizard and froze on the boot screen showing ipl and spl as 2.25 now how did this happen. I got to the boot screen and reflashed the cingular ship rom which fixed the wizard but the spl ipl still reads 2.25 no 000x. can I reflash to wm 6 from ship rom or do i need to reflash from wizard love? some one please help me out here thanks in advance.:eek:

This is really great;
i have tried it on my O2 XDA neo and it works perfectly:D
It took about 20 minuetes and after hard reset i obtianed the english version instead the original german version.

I gotta say, this utility worked FLAWLESSLY.

Installed the cabs, ran the ShellTool, Hard Reset and BAM! I'm running the Undergound ROM with no bugs whatsoever. :D

Best of all, my Cingular 8125 is normally running at the speed I usually overclock!!!!! WM6 is a drastic stability improvement over WM5.

Thanks to mun-rus for creating such a wonderful application.

But you are mistaken, i have used PDAViet3,underground, now on MB version, but none of them is as stable as WM5 version of imatekjam.
Just using for the sake of using WM6, but day by day im getting troubled with doing lots of tweaks.
Im thinking to moving to farias 3.3 or molskis 3.3. As they are more stable than this WM6 and comes with the feature of WM6.

Well, i'm in trouble.
Followed every step.
When the update finished i noticed an error on my device - Cannot execute repllog.exe

I hard resetted the phone and now its stuck in the IPL/SPL screen

I tried the RUU utility in the 3 color screen, but i keep getting error 300
and it tells me to get a newer version. I'm using the oine that comes with the Wizard Love ROM.

Any help? Please

hi,

thanks for all guys working to make life worth living.

i have a wizard which I successfully flashed today. I used shell tool. however, there are three issues:

after the flash started, i got an error message: "Cannot execute repllog.exe"

i ignored and went ahead - means i did not touch my device!! i actually have a nice rom now.

after the update, contacts will not show. i press the button there is a momentary change in the window bar and then it returns as though no action is associted with the pressing of the button!!!

also, after a soft reset and even in the first run, i got an error message "Check AutoRun cannot be opened"

please let me know, if the first one is ok to ignore and how to solve the second and third

I'd like an answer to this as well -- as I'm trying to help someone with a G4 device update to WM6 Underground. We finally gave up and are now going to try the WM6 Most Beautiful ROM.

The Underground install went without a hitch, but the softkey issue for bringing up the contacts in the Underground ROM is a real killer on the Underground ROM for my friend.

Quick quest, wanting to upgrade my g4 cid locked to WM6 using faria-htc wizard...WWE WM6 ROM. Say i do this and it goes wrong, and i want to revert bk to WM5 (currently have latest o2 xdamini-s rom installed) Can i simply start the phone in boot loader and run the official o2 upgrade again, or will this tell me i need a newer update util as the phone is already up to date.

Or can I backup the OS with awizard and restore it in boot loader mode using shelltool as normal??

You know everything,
Just go on make sure you read everything carefullyyyy!!!!!

You can revert any time to your previous rom, because shell tool doesnt touch anything except the OS.

Just make sure, if you wanna go to other rom from one rom(say WM6 faria to Mun_Rus WM6), you flash your original rom that you got from the company. And then flash the rom, Everytime you have to do this, if you dont want to stuck in bootloader mode.

Just go to bootloader mode and reflash your carriers rom or wizard love rom.

This is a well documented procedure.

I bumped the cable the first time, but followed your bricked phone instructions and put the newest t-mobile version back on. I tried again and it worked the second time... I now have wm6:MB!

I had the same problem as kennygunie
I had experience upgrading to MBE. now trying Faria WM6 with shelltool upon hard reset stuck at IPL/SPL screen.

Then repaired using Love2.26 and phone is up and running.

Tried again with Faria WM6 same problem again.

After i installed the mUm's WM6 rom with a Shelltool on my T-Mobile MDA Vario, I get this message: \Windows\AutoConfig.exe does not exist!.

The he turns back to an very poor installed version of WM5.

I did everything what was in the Manual.

My MDA Vario is CIDLOCKED but with the Shelltool it shouldn't be important. (I Guess)

What am i doing wrong?

Please help..

R u bootloader mode (tri colour screen) if you dont know how to go there just restart your wizard by pressing and holding camera button.
And then flash the wizard love. and dont look for usb it wont connect.

I got through the part of installing CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE and now it just hangs at the splash screen. I tried to format using comm button+voice button and power -- i have press send button, the reply for the action is that format is not completed and I dont know what else to do.

so I decided to CID unlock and install nk.nbf (from PRO_DT_WWE_220734_2207114_026121_Ship) on my device with shelltool bugfixed
I followed steps in first thread.
got the repllog.exe error
kept waiting
I'm waiting for about 60 minutes now and nothing happens.
Screen on my XDA is white.
