I've had intermittent trouble with internet passthrough via activesync. I use this to update things like RSS feeds and weather predictions, which I can then use on airplanes, etc. when I can't access GRPS.

The symptoms are that internet passthrough fails even when synchronization succeeds.

The board is full of cures for this problem and evidently pretty many people have it. The usual advice is to change a settings, in Activesync itself or Communications and even RNDIS, to Internet, or to My Work Network. Some create a proxy server. Others advocate reinstalling activesync, deleting the partnership, etc.

(I have found that, in Activesync, File/Connections needs to be set to the Internet rather than the default Automatic, something I do whenever I reinstall Activesync.)

Now, none of the explanations seem to make much sense. The problem arises with no change in settings, moreover, as I sync at home and office, I have had circumstances where I couldn't sync at home but could in the office. Even more inexplicably, I have had the problem vanish with no change in settngs, not even a soft reset.

Now I think I know why. Two days ago, I lost internet passthrough, and while I was going to fiddle with settings, I had it work again. I only figured this out because I pushed the wrong key. Again, no change in settings. I have found that if I push the USB connector to the right, not with much force, I lose internet passthrough, and if I push it lightly to the left, it restores passthrough. There is no effect on synchronization, which works either way.

I've had the problem arise three times, and a slight pressure to the left restored passthrough.

If you have this problem, try wiggling the usb connector and see if it fixes the problem, or just use some compressed air to clean it throughly.

That is pretty wild. I don't really use active sync, the only time that I plug my device in is if I A. need to flash it or B. need to get internet on my laptop from the device (which has been greatly improved in the newer roms - No DUN connection)

I find this to be very interesting. Sounds almost like a cold solder joint issue perhaps?
