Hey all

I'm in need of a quick and easy way of entering the GPRS and MMS settings for the O2 Pay as you Go network for Smartphone.

does anybody know if there is something available which can input the settings automatically?

thanx

I can't help with a cab file but try these settings:

To manually check/setup the GPRS WAP settings:-
Start > Settings > Connections > Connections >
Under My Work Network tap Manage Existing Connections, select 'O2 WAP GPRS' and then Tap Edit
(if this isn't present then tap 'Add a new modem connection')
The Select a Modem drop-down box should be set to the following:
- for Xda Exec: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
- for Xda Mini S: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Tap Next
Access Point Name: payandgo.o2.co.uk
Tap Next
Username: payandgo
Password: password
Domain: leave blank
Tap Advanced
On the TCP/IP tab, only Use Server-assigned IP Address should be selected
Tap the Servers tab
Only Use Server-assigned Address should be selected
Tap OK
Tap Finish
Tap Proxy Settings
Tap Advanced
Tap the WAP field
In the Server filed enter 193.113.200.195
In the Port field enter 9201
Tap OK 4 times and exit

To manually Check/setup the MMS settings:-
Start > Messaging > Menu > MMS Configuration
In the Preferences tab tick Retrieve Messages Immediately
Tick Download on home network only
Tick Save sent messages
Tap the Servers tab
Tap O2UK
Server Name: O2UK
Gateway: 193.113.200.195
Port Number: 9201
Server Address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Set the 'Connect Via' drop down box to My Work Network
Sending Size Limitations: 100K
WAP Version: 1.2
Tap OK twice to exit

I hope this helps.

Okay.... further info.... having been on the phone to o2 (several departments) for a not inconsiderable amount of time today.

These settings (above) will allow you access to MMS functionality and the O2 Active service. However full GPRS access, POP access etc IS NOT available via a pay as you go sim (I argued with several departments & threatened to take my custom elsewhere but to no avail!).

However the good news is that they offer an 'online contract service' with a 1 month cancelation period that will give you full gprs access. I've opted for the 'online 30' (i.e. 30 quid) with 500 sms & 500 any network minutes per month, 'online 40' gives double that.

I have trawled the web trying to find the correct answer & settings but it seems that it basicaly comes down to the fact that O2 will not allow full internet access on a Pay as You Go simcard, for some strange reason known only to themselves. I thought that a couple of stroppy calls & some cajoling would do the trick.... but it seems not.

Bottom line then?
You need to be on a contract. However if you don't need a handset from them then a 1 month tie in is all that's required - (sim only, online deal).

I'll post back here if I have further problems with them (I do require them to keep the same number as on my existing sim..... & given the number of uninformed people I've spoken to already today, could prove to be a whole new issue in itself!).

Good luck out there!

for full internet access instead of just wap use these settings:

APN address: orangeinternet
Username: user
Password: pass

And don't use any proxy settings.
