This tool allow to flash your Trinity ROM bypassing CID and signature(*) check.

For flashing ROM copy SSPL-TRIN.exe to your device and run it. Standart bootloader prompt should appear on screen, check SPL version number: if it ends with ".ds" then everything is fine. (Re)attach usb cable and run firmware update utility.

In case if something goes wrong during flashing you should flash your device with ROM accepted by standard bootloader (and have another try if you wish).

(*) code must be formally signed i.e. contain properly-formated signatures on their places, however no checking are performed against them. Actualy unsigned code flashing was tested by flashing original signed nbh image with few bytes in header and extrom section modified, but patches were designed to accept any properly formatted crap as a valid signature.

The Trinity update bypass works perfectly.
As for hermes i cannot test that one.
A minor thing i noticed that it doesn't return the current rom version to the romupdateutility just says "".

Anyway (please don't treat this as official acceptance of responsibility :D ) chance of bricking device is immeasurably low: in the wrost case SPL simply hangs unstarted (you could't do anything wrong in this case).

As far as I understand, this will allow for flashing of any "cooked" firmware to above mentioned devices and some others..

Have neither time nor expirence on cooking modern devices firmware (dump/restoreimgfs version that I have don't work on Trinity rom and I have no will to make it working unless forced to) so flashing realy "cooked" rom was not tested. But as mentioned above I was able to successfully flash original rom with some bytes modified and from signatures point of view this makes no difference with cooked ROM.

HTC Breeze smartphone should be a good candidate, as it should be very similar to hermes & trinity.

Also you can try on Artemis, but artemis uses DOC and is quite a different platform.

This tool and [paid] CID&SIM unlock are very different in fact.
SSPL does not unlock anything by itself. It simply allows you to flash any ROM (including unsigned ones) to your device.
Paid sollution give you permanent SuperCID wich in order make possible flashing ROMs with any CID.
If everything you want is just flashing GPS ROM both sollutions are identical except for SSPL doesn't change anything in your ROM (except flashing of course).
I hardly see any reasons why somebody would really need permanent SuperCID, so if your device isn't SIM-locked I see no benefits from paid unlock. Even if it does or you need real SuperCID for some purposes - pof have created patched radio image with wich you can do SIM&CID unlock. And yes - this radio can be flashed with SSPL.

HTC BreezeAlready done but I prefer to test it by myself first, cause there may be some problems due to m$ smartphonish nature. I havn't breeze at hand right now so please wait 'bout day or two.

on ArtemisHad got a request for it by now :)but artemis uses DOCit is almost of no relevance in this caseand is quite a differentand quite a poor documented platform. Furthermore I have no access to artemis by myself. So it is going to be a bit of challenge. But if think a little - i do like challenges :) So I'll see what can be done. But I can't promise you a fast sollution.

I applied the patch, got the .ds message, and it said "Serial" at the bottom. I restarted the phone, hooked it up via USB, and tried to install the test rom.... it still says invalid vendor ID.

Do I need to do I need to do anything else other than run the exe file?

I just flashed my P3600 from the french ROM to the new DOPOD test ROM with GPS.

Everything went smoothly.

GPS is working fine. By the way I find the GPS very good. It is able to get a fix inside my flat when I am 2-3 meters away from the window.

My previous GPS was Sirfstar II, and was never able to get a fix in this position.

I don't own a sirfstar III but I would say P3600 GPS should perform somewhere between Sirf II and III. Still an upgrade for me...

G4 spl is seen on booting like :2.16.0001
while for a G3 there is no extension as mentioned above.

JAF uses No IPL/SPL technique so it can flash by creating its proprietery secure channel.
But one simply cannot flash any CE ROM on a G4 CID locked device.One can flash Ext ROM,Radio ROM may a boot splash but not the CE ROM.

I hope you can make it.

I don't understand much of what you write, but there is nothing to see in settings tabs. You just run a GPS program, set it to COM9 and that's all.

i tryed to unlocl it with the not free version , it seem to work because i can change the rom without probleme.
but because there is always a but, i have no gps enable so all the rest seem to be ok.
i try few minutes ago the free version and it gave my the good code

User Mentox gave the registry setting to enable the GPS Icon, and I have successfully done it. The screen shot of the GPS icon is posted in that page also. SSPL is intended for ROM flashing not for synchronizing contacts. And you are provided with clear instructions how to do flashing with it. So what for you are trying to connect it with activesync ?

edit: OK, I understood! Mundanus, what was missleading, was the rom update utility saying you should reestablish an active sync connection before updating. Just disregard it and click continue.

Hi guys,

Hope someone can help me here.

My original ROM is the HTC WWE.
My original CID : HTC__001
My original SPL was 1.06 (I think)

I ran this SSPL utility and it appeared to work. Then when I tried to install the ROM upgrade, I had tried to do it w/ the nbh file from my SD card. The install started then kicked out just after a couple seconds.

Now my unit only starts up to the boot screen.

Screen info is:
IPL-0.50
TRIN100
SPL-1.07.0000

I'm worried I now have a case where my bootload version doesn't agree with any WWE ROM version for my CID. I've tried installed ROMs w/ 1.07 bootload version (via nbh from SD) but keep getting 'not allow'.

In case the mismatch I think I am seeing is really my problem, is there something I can do to reset my bootload version to one that matches a ROM for my CID?

Is there a workaround here?

Before attempting any of this, I had tried to connect w/ MTTY terminal (via USB connect... the trinity recognizes the USB connect on the boot screen) just to get familiar with some things but perhaps my com settings were incorrect because I could not get a response from the Trinity. Can someone elaborate regarding what specifically I might be doing wrong to get online w/ my Trinity using MTTY?

The same thing just happened to me as well. the SD method DOES NOT WORK!!! just reload the rom using the original ship rom from your computer and it will boot again, then try again to flash the dopod rom from your computer this time and all will go well. I too thought I bricked my trinity but nothing permanent was done.

Can you be more specific as to how I reload the original ship rom? How did you reestablish communications?

I ask because right now, my unit only starts up into the boot screen and when I try to run an upgrade that uses the upgrade utility through windows, it can't communicate w/ my Trinity.

If I could get online via MTTY, could I edit my CID so that it would match the ROM I'm trying to load into it? If so, how do I do that because MTTY only sees Com3 as available to open and that doesn't appear to establish coms with the Trinity that is connected via USB cable.

After I tried to upgrade the rom using the SD method it restarted right after the update started and boot directly to the bootloader screen (3 color bars) and the IPL was .50 just like yours. Every time I reboot the phone it went back to the bootloader screen and wouldn't do anything else so I thought I bricked it. On a whim I connected the USB cable back to my computer and started the ship rom update (RUU_Trinity_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.5_6275_1.20.00.11_12 201_Ship.exe). It started to load the 1.15 image and finished then reboot and everything is A-OK it boot to the original software and all was well. I restarted the SSPL again and loaded the Dopod rom from my computer this time and it worked. I am not reloading all my software onto the dopoded phone (loading TomTom as I type this).

Yep, that's what was happening to me.

On a whim I connected the USB cable back to my computer and started the ship rom update (RUU_Trinity_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.5_6275_1.20.00.11_12 201_Ship.exe).

I had to do something more or less the opposite.... I had the Ship ROM still installed on SD and so I unplugged the USB cable... but I also soft reset the unit several times repeatedly. I can't find any logic to it but it eventually stopped telling me 'not allow' and moved on to the ROM loading screen.

I still had to restore via the SD.

The reasons I was attempting via the SD was because the update application would always fail, telling me that it couldn't communicate w/ my Trinity. I don't have ActiveSync installed but in Vista there is a SyncManager that I suspected was interfering with it and so to make a long story short, I had to go to one of my WinXP platforms to finish the job and so YAY, I've got it done.

I think this is just a work around (very smart work around) to bypass the bootloader, so SD method won't work, because the SSPL will be load up until the system boot up fully. So as the readme.txt said, we should start up the SSPL in the device and then flash the rom while the machine is attaching to the PC via USB. ;)

Can't get it to work...on 2 different machines:
* On Vista: I get "Error [260] : Connection", although the device is listed as "HTC USB Sync" in device manager. When I try to do a regular update, it does find it until the device is reset into bootloader.
* On XP SP2: I get "Error [200] : Invalid Update Tool | Please get newer Update Utility". I get the same error with the shipping rom, and even when no device is attached...

Any clues? Thanks in advance!

I get the connection error in XP SP2.
When I run the SSPL tool, the Trinity starts the bootloader, containing the ".ds", so that seems to be fine.

However, when I connect the device to USB the connection notification stays "Serial" and the PC comes with "USB device not recognized", which I believe is the reason the update utility can't find an attached device.

When I turn the Trinity in the 'normal' bootloader the connection succeeds....

How to work with the SSPL tool?

*EDIT* - Solved. I had to uncheck "Allow USB connections" in ActiveSync.
I now managed to flash the latest Dopod ROM and the GPS is working!! :)

thanks Menneisyys for the reply, unfortunately I forgot to run the getupgradedata2005.exe on the original ROM but I managed to restore even without it in the upgrade mode, after I installed the sprite backup from the PC. I feel lucky, as in 40 minutes my Trinity looks and works as yesterday except the GPS of course which is working fine :D happy? of course :D (I had some minor problems with the installed programs as at the first start of all of the progs a security alert popped up so I had to click "yes" a couple of times, plus I changed few settings on the today screen to restore the look) So, I wish similar good experience to every Trinity user and thanks for the update-tool once again!

I followed your steps and try upgrade a CHT version from R1.17 to R1.23. But after reboot, it flash D1.23 and No GSM on bottom. Then it only shows a still picture and stops.

Hi Guys,
I have a HTC P3600. I flashed it with latest DOPOD ROM using SSPL method. Now GPS is working. I have one question.
Before flashing DOPOD ROM it had HTC WWE ROM with bootloader version 1.06 . Now its boot loader version is 1.07. If i want to flash the HTC WWE ROM available on ftp server with bootlader version 1.05, do i need to use SSPL or will it work the normal way? Is it possible to flash a ROM with older bootlader version? I purchased my P3600 from DUBAI and it is CID locked. I was not able to flash DOPOD ROM without SSPL.

I DID INSTALL THE DOPOD SHIP ROM AND AFTER SOM SCARY MOMENTS. WENT TO 13% AND GOT STUCK. i DONT KNOW HOW EXACTLY GOT OUT BUT THE FACT IS THAT NOW IS WORKING GREEK CHARACTERS AND ALL.
i HAVE ONE QUESTION THOUGH.: I HAVE INSTALLED DESTINATOR 6.1.1.40
,DO I HAVE TO ACTIVATE THE BLURTOOTH SO THAT I CAN SEE THE SATELITES (COM 9 NMEA 115200)? I GET THE IMPRESSION THAT WITHOUT THE BLUETOOTH ACTIVATED NOTHING HAPPENS.
iT IS A MINOR INCONVENIENCE.

can you post what ROM version you are exactly.
because if your OS is still in greek, it means you activated GPS without flashing ROM...

Did he actually say that his GPS ever worked? I don't think it is clear.

I have installed HTC Official WWE update. I've had many problems with WM5 Spanish versions, both initial and official update.

This cant use at WM6.0
My english ROM D810 cant UPgrade to new HK chinese ROM

When flashing new ROM's English or HK chinese this will black screen and goto 3 color screen twice
only the first 3 color screen can show as SPL... des

at the second time enter 3 color scrren it will goto ot my orgrial CID screen......

Hi everyone,

I urgently need help. I have an HTC P3600. Did the rom update from the HTC web site. Then used the CID unlocker and tried to install the DOPOD 831 WM6 update. While the process had started it stopped at around 30%. Followed the troubleshooter but could not complete. Screen only show the 4 coloured line. Tried to do a "black" upgrade to WM6 but said the file was corrupt. When i try to hard reset i get a message to press the send button if i want to proceed. I then get a message that the process has been completed and I should press ok. When i do that and restart, i get a black screen. The only thing that seems to be working is the green indicator showing that the device is on.

OK, firsly obvious thanks for this great tool.

I was edging my last hope bets on this tool working to be able to flash my new P3600i. So far it seems impossible. The rom is the current ANZ WM6 rom. You can download that and flash the device. However, no other rom works, you can't send SSPL to the phone or run it on the phone (goes to reset into BL mode, but hangs on a black screen)

I was hoping this tool may of worked, to at least get HardSPL onto the phone to be able to flash other roms...

POF, Shadowmite, ANYONE, would love some help?

Did you try the spl exploit tools? they should be working on spl 3.03 and should therefor be able to load any spl you want to use temporarily for your flashing...

Tried. Same results as trying to run SSPL from the device, it says it's worked, but loads up to a blank screen.

Then, reset its all back to standard again.

Thats the bit that has me puzzled most, having had the D810 orginal before this one, there was no problems either flashing to a WM5 rom, then doing HardSPL or using SSPL etc.

With the HTC P3600i, there is "something" stopping it from working.

Please help I had run a rom upgrade and halfway through the rom upgrade application told me to click finish. Now I'm stuck @ the tri-clolour screen with TRIN100
IPL-0.50

TRIN100
SPL-3.03.0000

No matter how I do a reset it still go back to this tri-colour screen.

Anyone please help.

Need help please..I don't know what I did wrong but after I copy th SSPL-Trin.exe and run it on my device, HTC P3600i, it goes to blank black screen and turn off the phone instead of going to bootloader mode. I also try pof's auto_unlock v1 and it did the same thing. What do I need to do? The phone has SPL 3.03.000...thanks
