G'Day Crew,
First post, sorry for the newbie question.
I assume they are one in the same?
I am looking at getting the Dopod D810 from Optus (Australia) to replace my N73. I want to use the GPS side of things.
Will the Optus batch of D810's have the GPS chipset in them?
Am I able to update the rom to use the GPS?
Where can I purchase the correct version of TomTom to use with the Dopod D810? (if I cant get it I will probably not get the Dopod).
I look forward to your replies. Please help, I have tried the GSM forums and Whirlpool and so far no help has been forthcoming.
I do have the TomTom for Symbian S60 V3 though....................
Kind regards,
BIQ

First of all, the dopod 810 is the same as the P3600 or trinity, and therefor all operator version will have the GPS chipset. I don't know if it is allready activated if you buy the device, but the chip is there
Am I able to update the rom to use the GPS?
Yes, but you probably have to remove the CID lock, there are two ways to do this, both to be found on this forum
Where can I "purchase" the correct version of TomTom to use with the Dopod D810? (if I cant get it I will probably not get the Dopod).
I would say www.tomtom.com?

That version will not work on a WM2005 device I think, but since I don't have that version, I really don't know....

1) You might not need CID unlock if the version that is coming soon is already for your device.
(Stranger where are the two methods? I only saw one)
2) I am not sure I like "purchase" in quotes.
3) Symbian tomtom is COMPLETELY a different version and no S60 software will ever work on your future PocketPC. (ah... the effects of bringing telephony to PDA... you bring the whole mass of consumers that don't really know what PocketPC is all about)

isn't there a free unlocker on these forums now? since I used imei-check, I haven't read that post yet, but if that works, that would be method number 2

Sorry NLS about "purchase" have edited the post.
I have found the tomtom site very confusing. I am hoping to get the Dopod D810 from Optus tommorow. I am unsure what the operating system is and therefore not sure which version of tomtom to get.
I was hoping that someone with a trinity using tomtom could tell me which version of tomtom they are using. The Dopod 810 is not listed under the tomtom web site.
Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

BIQ

The operating system is Windows Mobile 5, or you may find it (although older versions, still compatible) as PocketPC (2003/2003SE).
Also do much more research because a PocketPC phone is a phone but also 1000 more things than a phone (or even a smartphone). It will be a pity to miss this.

HTC P3600 (also known as Trinity/Dopod 810) is listed as compatible with TOMTOM ver. 6 :
