I have got a little anoying bug. I flashed your jasjar rom to my mda pro with no problems. So i went to testing some features camera button and so on works just fine. But my problem is with the data connection. It connects just fine and stays connected but I can't get it to disconnect properly.

And if you click on the G or 3G icon or the icon beside that which tell you that your connected there's no disconnect button. I had it on my legal t-mobile rom. The only way to disconnect easily is too stop your phone functions and then start it again.

I hope this can be resolved with something or does my connection wizard not work properly?

Another issue which is already discussed here the phone froze when I got a call.

For now these are the only two issues I'll keep you posted if I find anything else. I'm loving this roms speed btw thank you for your work

you can either press and hold the red telephone button, or find the post of the registry which enables disconnect and also the connection time, but I forgot where I read it and which registry key I added.

I-Mate has announced something like a Sideshow-Renderer... so you can see Vista-Sideshow-Gadgets on you WM-Device. Has anyone heard something like that or is someting like that included in the WM6-ROM? It would be greate to Control my Media Center from anywhere in the World ;-)

Registry fixes for the above issue...

To add a Disconnect buttonfor GPRS:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2 = 8 (DWORD decimal)

To add a Disconnect button and a timer display showing how long GRPS is in use for the session:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2 = 16 (DWORD decimal)

To disable both the Disconnect button and the timer:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2 = 0 (DWORD decimal)
if the DWORD Flags2 is not there, create it

Update yesterday, seems to be working fine, just correct the registry key for the data connection, and also is working, but i was wondering why does the video call doesn´t work, i know that is a dowfall of this rom but why is that isn't tecnically possible? or isn't done yet and in near future the issue can be fixed?

This is still a beta release of WM6 as far as I know and video calling hasn't been implemented yet... i think Jwright is on it though :D

Is somebody here who has funcionally working activesync over bluetooth ? i paired Uni with my PC and i see on UNI in bluetooth that my PC has activesync active ... but if i try in activesync click on bluetooth synchronize it say that i havent any existing bluetooth partnership with a PC that supports activesync ... then it take me to the bluetoothe where i have my PC with activesync ...

I have the same experience. Even if I tick the box for active sync. Do we have to setup the Incoming and Outgoing port for BT active sync to work?

Hi people,

I'm running this rom from the beginning it was uploaded, up til now no with no problems. Don't know about the password issue because I use a sim password. It's a fast rom with a lot of memory if you disable a view today plugins. Also I flashed Radio rom 1.14 because i've got the feeling it has better signal.

The only things I good live without are:

Microsoft Voice Commands,
Microsoft Bluetooth stack.

They eat up memory and don't function well, but that's my opinion!

Anyway, thanks again Jwrightmcps.

I've signed the petition and every day I take a look at it, up till now more than 1800 people have signed, but I think this is still not enough for MS to reconsider the statement, I hope in futher there will be a solution for this.

First of all thanks for the big effort, the Rom is beautifull

Second I have the following issues

1-A2DP works fine on recorded material, and is horrible on streaming while using Wifi it seems there is an interference between wifi and BT, I have the Jabra BT 8010 and BT 620 both of them act the same.

2.A major issue, I have a GSM failure frequently. Some strange things also happening like, I called myself, I heard it is ringing but my device is doing nothing no ringing no sensing at all for the call.

3.Today, also I realised that sometimes there is a conflict between GSM and the wifi. Somebody called me 10 times and he got call failure. He found me asking me what happened with your mobile, I tried to call him I got a service failure although the signal was showing 100% he tried to call me also he got a call failure. I realised that my wifi was on. I turned it off, only then I started to receive sms's for the missed calls and he called my and I called him with success. I turned on the wifi again, but there was no problem. It is confusing don't you think?

Don't wanna pre-empt Jwright, but I wonder if there are issues with radio flashing... I flashed to 1.14.10 before and had similar problems as you, then reverted back to 1.09 and all was fine... I'm now on the 1.13 with no problems, in fact it's the best I've had so far, but there are others who have problems with it. It seems to be pot luck... but I don't know the in's and outs.

I have 3 problems, since I switched to WM6.

1.) Although I set the "HKLM/ControlPanel/Phone/Flag2" Value to "8", I still get no "disconnect" button.
2.) Since WM6 I can't use my Qtek as bluetooth modem for my Laptop any more.

3.) For some webpages I need to change the UserAgent (e.g. the Homezome of my Network Provider, to read news, download video clips aso.), which worked perfectly with all other ROMs I tried. But with WM6 it seems that PIE ignores my UserAgent settings (in Registry "Default=Nokia6680") and I can't display the page.

These topics are very important for me, I hope you can support me for a little!

Also have you tried running the ROM without anything else installed (except for the Ext ROM apps)?

Sorry if I overlooked your post elsewhere.

Issue 1 is common you can not use wifi and stream bluetooth audio together, this has always been the case ever since I first introduced A2DP for the Universal (last year).

Issue 2 is news to me; I would suggest updating just the radio again.

Issue 3 again this is most likely related to issue 2.

Please try the above and let me know if you still have issues.

Though I have active sync 4.5 already installed on my windows pc ,I am able to sync my wm6 device-imate jasjar perfectly and no errors so far. However, when I try to sync my device with my mac at home with missing sync installed on my mac i get error on hand device" active sync needs to be installed on your desktop"
With your previous wm5 rom it worked perfectly both ways. I just cannot understand the problem.:rolleyes:

jwright: i know you are really busy, all of us requesting your attention for our matters. You are being really great sharing your work with you.

But I would like you dedicate one or two minutes your time to say about the problems of BB with all the roms from wm5 aku 3.x.

We are not sure if there is a limitation of BB software, that checks if the rom is were they deployed the software or is really a problem of compatibility. On some way I am asking you if you have "commercial" information about this point.

If it is not a technical issue, we can look for finding the registry or whatever where appears the inform we have to change. But obviously if it is due incompatibility we should wait for future versions of BB (maybe one year at least)

Nice ROM, I like it...

My problem is, I cannot get the German Voice command run.

I can install it, but if I try to start it tells me:

"Voice command hat ein Problem festgestellt
Starten Sie Voice Command neu, und versuchen Sie es erneut"

-> " Voice command has detected a problem.
Start voice command again and try again"

Maybe there are files in ROM which the German installation could not overwrite ?

Hope someone can help me. I like voicedialing over bluetooth.

I wonder how much freezing is down to the ROMs and how much the other files we install?

Helmi's ROM kept frequently freezing for me but that could have been some programs I installed as with this ROM and updated programs my XDA doesn't freeze for me (in that I always get the occasional freeze on all my pocket PCs and hence the odd one is nothing new).

However, I can't get GPRS to work (shouldn't it work straight from the [JCW's O2 ROM download] box or do I need to update some settings?

I had problems with the provided settings, but I think that's cos I altered the ext_ROM, so I had to manually input the settings, but working fine.

And I totally agree with you on the added programs having freezing issues... I guess I've been lucky and checked out issues with WM6 freezes, and with my list of programs, I haven't had to reset since I finalised install... which was ages ago!

The directory the files upack to will be there somewhere. It depends on your setup but is like to be a folder within c:\Documents and Settings\??????\Local Settings\Temp\ where ?????? is the username you are logged on to your computer as (or it might be Administrator if you are logged in as that). Try doing a search for GetDeviceData.exe which is one of the files that will be in the Directory you need.

Dutchschultz:

Some say you need to be in bootloader mode first - to be honest I have never needed to be - I just soft reset the PPC first, make sure all anti-virus and firewall software is disabled. make sure the PPC battery is well toped up, take out the SD card and then run the upgrade. I've never had a problem. There are much more detailed posts elsewhere in the forum.

I think it's hidden by default - you need to set the folder options to show hidden files and folders - Tools | Folder Options | View | [Hidden files and folders] Show hidden files and folders

Is there any solution/workaround for PIE crashing with gmail mobile ?

As soon it connects to gmail mobile website, it crashes. Also happens sometimes with other websites, but this is far more troublesome as I can't read my email :-/

I was also wondering if anyone could retrieve MMS? I have a working GPRS connection (flat rate) and configured everything (APN, proxy, port...) on the MMS software but it just says "error" when try the "send/receive" option

You will lose everything if you upgrade the OS ROM, which this is... it's like a clean install. You can backup all your data with say SpbBackup, but it's not recommended to do so if you're upgrading OS versions, can send haywire...

Is there any solution/workaround for PIE crashing with gmail mobile ?

As soon it connects to gmail mobile website, it crashes. Also happens sometimes with other websites, but this is far more troublesome as I can't read my email :-/

I was also wondering if anyone could retrieve MMS? I have a working GPRS connection (flat rate) and configured everything (APN, proxy, port...) on the MMS software but it just says "error" when try the "send/receive" option

1. Afraid I can't really be of help with your first point... i did have the same problem, but it seems to have dissapeared and my last two backup's were successful... maybe a software compatability issue?

3. Are these hangs when the Uni is wired to the PC? I found it hung on reset when connected, but now I always disconnect the USB when I reset and haven't had a freeze since.

I usually install SpbPocketPlus, but with the HTC Task Manager included, I haven't bothered as size and compatibility seem to be ongoing issues with it on WM6.

All these are full programs and used a lot and I haven't had to reset since I installed the day it was released... and I'm not kidding when I say that.

I started in Bootloader mode from a Vista PC, didn't work - changed to an XP PC & it installed but left the Uni as a brick. Did the installation again from XP & it worked, so v happy to un-brick the Uni.

First impression is that this seems a closer to final version, things seem to be working well (not tested hard yet).

Quick question, why have programs such as File Explorer & Activesync been moved from the Programs section to the Menu drop down - bit odd really as they are programs & have always been there (unless this is just mine).

I will do some more intensive testing of the comms tomorrow with GPRS/UTMS hand overs, push mail connection & seeing if the phone actually works when the Uni is busy with other things.

Pinpointed that. It is due to the proxy. Same page over wifi works fine.
I guess I will have to replace PIE by something else that can tolerate my proxy.

1. Maybe I should try to re-install Spb Backup to see whether it would help, especially if you have experience successful backup with it. Anyone else experience the same problem during backup?

2. I've tried Leies CE for Crossbow, but it even cause more often hangs.

3. You're right, it hangs when connected with Activesync after installing softwares. But apart from that it hangs occasionally (I mean quite frequently) when there is incoming calls.
And this morning it scared me as it won't on when I pressed the ON button, even the soft reset didn't respond when I pressed. it took around 15 minutes for me to play on/off & soft reset to finally wake it back. Haven't try the respond after another reset though.

Of course besides the games, the rest of the applications are critical for me.
I didn't include spb Pocket Plus (although I love it) as I read about this compatibility issue as well. But found out to miss the ability to toggle screen on/off and soft reset button. I used pBar for replacement, but recently took it off as I suspect it might be the cause of freeze.

Just read that v2.01.08 is going to be posted, hope it will solve more of our problems. Found that http://micmeo.com/UNI/index.php?dir=WM6 is holding most of the ROMs, perhaps Jwrights wants to upload it there as well as it is easier to download compared to rapidshare. Just a suggestion though.

Thanks, Jwrightmcps. I downloaded installed the 2.1.08 on Jasjar already I was monitoring the upload section. I have only one issue at the moment. I still when I initiate the Voice command via my BT 8010 the sound go to my device not to my Headset as it should be. I am sure there is some registry setting to change that.

Here is the voice command solution. Make these changes and voila! your BT headset will work correctly - but don't forget to turn off & on again the headset after changing the registry & rebooting the exec.

Sad to hear this. How about clearing the startup folder of applications and then try installing them back one at a time? I noticed when I was testing JWright's initial release, that I was able to minimize the hangs when minimizing the startup apps.

Just to verify it hangs when you try to do a "HARD reset" or is it a "SOFT reset"?

As I have not seen any major issues (lockups) on startup, it can get a little slow if all the today plug-ins are active, but did not lockup in testing.

Also have you installed other software?

Yes this is due to extra files and the way InstallSheild creates the .exe (the ROMs are all the same build)

However they are all signed with the same key and S/N#, this was done in case these installs make it outside this site. I wanted you guys to have a way to tell if they are mine and un-modified.

The reason I ask is, I'm thinkin to release a Universal WM6 ROM Kitchen when I hv time, so everyone can make their own customize rom for their personal need... I'm sure it will help other if we collaborate all the patch and fixed (if any) and make a kitchen with some patch and fixed included... user/developer might contribute their input for patch and fixes to the kitchen, so this way will help speedin up the development proccess of wm6 with universal since everybody can involved? what do you think?

I'm currently don't hv time to mess around with it for now hell busy with work now and my net suck!, but soon when I hv time I'll put things together and post a rom kitchen for universal, so I hopes that u hv some major fix soon my friend, it'll sure make user and me verry happy...:)

1st of all, thanks for all your effort! Just flashed my ROM to 2.01.08 and apply the Ext ROM unlocker. As expected, all the files inside ext ROM are gone and I didnt back it up before hand. What's originally inside ext ROM? Are there any important cab that I need to install? I only remember there is Skype in it.

After several houres with release .08 here are my findings:
Phone (radio 1.14.1): sms, incomin and outgoing calls, signal level, no problems at all.
Memory: with and without active programs, in the norm without leaks.
Stability: after install, test and uninstall of several programs, phone calls and text messages, smart dialing and contacts handling, outlook tasks adding and editing, excel spreadsheet tests, file manipulation on storage card, and several soft resets : no hangs at all.
Bluetooth: pairing and file transfers with my desktop pc wthout problems, pairing and phone calls handling with headset (sony hbh660) easy and smooth.
Speed: feels slower than helmi aku3.5 1.3.1, but new apps will be written for new devices and not for the old ones.
Conclusion: reliable release! Thanks Jwright!

The digital signature is only for verification that the ROM is my original work and not some faked version.

You use the serial number I provided only to compare against the files you downloaded. You can check them by following the steps below:

Step 1

Download the file you wish for your device.
(i.e. "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.zip")

Step 2

Unzip the download.
(double-click the ".zip" file and then click on "Extract all files")

Step 3

Open the directory that you un-zipped the download to.
(i.e. folder "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship")

Step 4

Locate the InstallSheild setup program in the ROM folder, then right-click it and choose "Properties".
(i.e. "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.exe")

Step 5

Once the file properties is open select the "Digital Signatures" tab, then in the "Signature List" double-click the "HTCCertificates signing authority" signature.

There is nothing but Skype and GSM operator settings in the "Extended ROM".

So you do not need to worry about anything...

There is nothing but Skype and GSM operator settings in the "Extended ROM".

So you do not need to worry about anything...

Anyway been running all that time and had no issues at all.

to put it simply....radio rom is connected via a serial connection....so is the slowest to upgrade....extended rom is 10 mb while ce rom is around 100 mb

My TomTom Go 500 needs this feature to connect to the net for the Traffic feature.

I used some of Helmi's WM6 version and found DUN is not supported.

First of all i would like to thanks you all for this work....
This is not just excellent this is unbelievable....
I try both Rom releases 2.01.06 and 2.01.08....
Most of my programs runs without any problems, much much faster that i could imagine...
I have some issues that i really preciate your help...

I see some baby problems such :
- I could not operate a call by pressing the Talk and Hang-up buttons....
- I am not able to dial and correct a number (when i dial a number that i have
nt in my contacts if i make a mistake, i am not able to correct the number, any button either the on screen, either the keyboard backspace does not operate)
But those are not that serious for me... i am sure that those you will implement a solution in next releases...

The serious problem that i have and i need you help is that i am not able to use AnthaVPN software.
The think is that i use it every day and i am connecting using vpn/ipsec to my office and then i use pcAnywhere to connect to our office PCs.
When i install AnthaVPN for a reason that i dont know i am not able to connect to internet with or without AnthaVPN. From the moment i install the software no mater how many soft-resets and i made i am not able to connect to internet.
I try also other VPN software but all the others i was not able even to install them cause they are not recognise the version of operating system.
I really dont want to go backwards and miss all good staff you made...
Please help me if you find time to deal with my problem...

very very excellent rom...

all those who are experiencing the hanging when phone rings...in my case i use 1.13 radio....its the most stabilized radio suited for this rom


i did experience hanging twice in the screen alignment phase. but when i set the setting to clear type fonts....it never hung again with all the today plug-ins enabled. i did 16 soft resets just to be sure... hope this helps anyone...just my 2 cents:D

The battery is at full capacity as I left it overnight for charging. One more thing I have noticed that it tends to happen more after a GPRS data session. In couple of cases I disconnected the GPRS and left PIE running.

Hi I have read your post, I had the same problems as you but on mine it sometimes gives me funny screen...like blue colored or white with stripes. Mine was not related to any rom upgrade but found out through the kind people of this forum the my voltage control unit of my mainboard was not working right. If you problem is the same as mine, I have a solution for it. I suggest this first:

1. Flash to the latest Original Rom from manufacturer and test for 24 hrs and see if you still miss calls and experience hangups and have to soft reset the device.

If problem still persisits then

2. Install a program called Pocket Hack Master and disable the CPU scaling in settings and set the speed to 312 mhz before turning it off or closing the clamshell. You can always clock it to 520 while using it for CPU intensive applications and make sure you have the program start upon restart.

I am at the moment using your WM5 ROM and I am very happy with it (I do have to reboot the mobile from time to time, though).

However, I am looking forward to upgrade my Universal (imate) to a WM6. What I am not sure, however, is if the Crossbow release you are using is the RTM/Final version. Could you please advice?

Hi everyone, this is my first post. Many thanks for WM6 & for everyones comments. My JasJar is now more fun than ever. My only problem was that TreNotes wouldn't install however they gave me a special WM6 version. so all is OK.

Quick question on Task Management. I was using vBar for task management & battery/memory bars however now that WM6 comes with a task closer I was wondering what I should now be using, particularly as the standard one does let me change to a running app or show the battery/memory status. Anyone got any good ideas? What will everyone else use now? Cheers.

Have you tried setting-up MS LIVE before you install any applications (other than GPRS settings)?

What applications have you installed?

What carrier are you with and what country?

Just so you are aware I use LIVE every day without issues! So the problem has to be with something that you are doing (or an app you install)...

Let me know the answers to the above and I will help out.

Got the same problem with 1.14.10 radio on Helmi v1.1 rom. Found the same workaround as you, but it is far from perfect.

May I add to the thanks and general feting for this ROM. Having been a loyal jwright fan for the previous ROM, this exceeds expectations - thank you for all your hard work.

I have the same problem here too. To be more specific; in ActiveSync the status is "Waiting for network" and when the device is trying to connect to GPRS (e.g. with TomTom6 for Traffic info), I get the error message "The modem does not respond".
Switching off and on again the Phone function is solving the problem but that's quite anoying if I have do to that a couple of times a day...

I use a i-mate jasjar on Vodafone Netherlands.

It is being provided with the rom once you un compress it as a seperate folder for those who donot have the new version.

Have you tried setting-up MS LIVE before you install any applications (other than GPRS settings)?

What applications have you installed?

What carrier are you with and what country?

Just so you are aware I use LIVE every day without issues! So the problem has to be with something that you are doing (or an app you install)...

I have the same problem too but my stop at step 2. The error messenger is "There's a connectivity problem. Make sure you're in an area with good phone reception and try out". Problem is that I'm able to surf the net from the PDA itself. However, I was able to login to web msn using mobile live.

Currently there is no software installed too and I'm testing with WIFI. Will try out GPRS and see if the problem exist.

Im using version 2.01.06 and radio 1.13.00 since a few days ago, and i have a problem that i don't know how to solve..

I use DirectPush, and im always connected thru GPRS. Everything works fine, but when i lost the network (i.e: elevator) ,the activesync is unable to open the GPRS connection again. It says (No modem at above number...)
The only solution that i could find is to disable and enable again the phone...but of course that's not the best solution

Anybody here with the same problem? Any solution?

I have the same problem! It does not depend from radio rom. I installed 1.13.00 and 1.14.10. It's always the same result!

I have the same problem here too. To be more specific; in ActiveSync the status is "Waiting for network" and when the device is trying to connect to GPRS (e.g. with TomTom6 for Traffic info), I get the error message "The modem does not respond".
Switching off and on again the Phone function is solving the problem but that's quite anoying if I have do to that a couple of times a day...


I have this problem aswell, using and relying on DirectPush. Could someone write an application that "power cycle" the phone connection?

Is there a registry setting that one could change to "turn" the radio off?

The problem is that I can't do the voice commands, hence the phone calls with the names and so on.In the VOICE COMMAND menu I don't see anything to do the configuration.It's a my problem or not ?

I just wanted to leave my thanks as well: This is the only ROM I've come across so far that allows Asukals Japanese IME to run flawlessly with all the input methods. Neither under WM5 nor with the other WM6 ROMs did this work... regardless of the free memory. With version 06 I got very frequent lockups (which was simply too annoying to keep it), but with 08 this has been reduced to a minimum and happens only rarely when notifications are triggered. So the somewhat sluggish softkeys, missing voip functionality (which is a problem with the test ROM and thus not really an issue) and a slightly more unstable data connection when in the train are the only things left on the negative side.

The German Version 1.6 I bought officialy.
I only installed there on the new WM6 Rom, because as I am from Germany,
it is easier for me with the German Version.
The English version is within the ROM.

I have a request. I am experience a disapointing quality with A2DP stereo bluetooth with the Microsoft stack. It is possible that you use Helmi_C's code in the next release (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291875)? In his latest version one can change between the Microsoft stack and the Widcomm stack. A few posts before he already asked you to cooporate (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1141396&postcount=367). :)

Editing the registry settings has no effect, nor does playing with the VC options. The only way I have found to fix this, is to separately install MSVC1.6 (from a, ahem, downloaded copy) and this then works properly, so I suspect that the version in the rom has since been superceded by a new version that has been patched to work correctly with bluetooth. Has anyone else encountered this? I can see various posts in other threads for other devices that mention something similar but would be interested to know if anyone has this working with the version of Voice Command included in the rom.

Also d that if i try calling my jj it takes at least 10sec before it rings.

My device has the following installed, and I haven't had one freeze since initial install unless I reset while connected to PC....

i have date, spb shell,wireless,messaging,tasks,calender,skype,devi ce lock and spb backup on the desktop only. no hangs no shut down . smooth sailing all the way.

In the meantime, I'm gonna hunt around for a registry tree to see if I can shed any light.

Like you, I've stuck to V.06 with registry tweaks and it would be nice to have these two as well :D

Here is the voice command solution. Make these changes and voila! your BT headset will work correctly - but don't forget to turn off & on again the headset after changing the registry & rebooting the exec.

As for memory leak, I still have to say with all honesty that I have not had to reset since I finished installing all programs and tweaks... and that was a long time ago by reset standards! I have not found stability like that on any other ROM bar none, and I know there are others who share that view.

It’s great work, it is fast and stable more that I could think of :) .
The backlight really doesn’t mutter that it doesn’t work, the same job is done with the on-off. I personally mapped the backlight for the Aekmap. (To change the keyboard between English and Greek)

A minor problem that I have is that doesn’t show the names, at the message of the lost calls, I’m trying to find a solution. If I find one I’ll post it here, if someone knows something, any help is welcomed.
