Yes it's me

I used this and it worked just fine
Here is the voice command solution. Make these changes and voila! your BT headset will work correctly - but don't forget to turn off & on again the headset after changing the registry & rebooting the exec.

Registry Key adjustments:
HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\LaunchAPEnable : 0
HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\VoiceCmdEnable : 0
HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path : \Windows\VoiceCMD.exe
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway\BTA GExtModule : \Windows\vcbthag.dll

Simon

the moment i click on voice command i am getting error"
voice command has encountered a problem.restart voice command and try again."

any solutions or tweak. please :(

Normally this would be solved by uninstall/reinstall the apps. But in this case the VC is part of the system. So please try the link below it is for activating the builtin VC. I hope it would work. after that make the registry setting as you quoted me

Hi All

I have just upgraded to the latest version .08, and a critical application I use which requires GPRS for push mail does not work??

Unfortunatly I only saw previous posts with same problem assuming that we have no holes in the final beta release.

Any suggestions, or I have to now revert back to Helmi (1.1)

Thanks

Norman

Norman: what does your application exactly? I was looking for some piece of software that activates activesync when a text message arrives, as made the phone provider when you receives a mail. It is a real pushmail but I didn't found an application running on aku 3.

Thanks Haldeeb. you made my day. The voice command works now but I dont hear anything on my bluetooth hands free.I only hear the incoming ring.I tweaked the registry exactly as i had quoted earlier though. However, when I put the voice command to hear from the device speaker phone the lady's voice cannot understand me lol. ;)

Hello, has anyone tried running Orb, and streaming media to WMP? It does not seem to work on 2.0 on Hermes yet, but perhaps the Univerasal is more proficient...

So I've upgraded my T-Mobile MDA Pro and I /love/ WM6 so very, very much.

But it keeps crashing. :( Last night it ran my battery empty because it froze. Is there any word on an 'official' rom yet? Or a newer version? Is anyone else having this problem? I'm using the 108 version. Is 106 more reliable?

There are a few more bugs, too: it doesn't remember that I turn auto-complete off... gmail crashes midlet manager... etc.

Thanks for your hard work, everyone! This is a great ROM, even despite the issues.

HI

OK i think the problem is with the latest release of the radio 1.13 supplied with .08 - the reason I say that is I have since downgraded back to Helmi's 1.1 ROM which only the CE-ROM. and GPRS still does not work. ie i am using JCW .08 and 1.13 radio with Helmi's 1.1 CE-ROM and GPRS also does not work.

I then went back to JASJAR_WWE_19096_19505_11300_AKU_3_2_ship and GPRS with the radio 1.13 supplied with this version WORKS WITH NO PROBLEM>

IE something is different between the two radios supplied with JASJAR_WWE_19096_19505_11300_AKU_3_2_ship and JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship although the version numbers are the same.

JC can you shed some light on this? also is it possible to provide a facility only to upgrade the CE-ROM 0f .08, IE I want to be able to continue to use the radio from JASJAR_WWE_19096_19505_11300_AKU_3_2_ship and use CE-ROM of JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.

Thanks

I shouldn't say that I am stuck, could be that the built in VC is really corrupted. Then you have two directions, either to reinstall everything again or install the MS package only then you will have the VC as a normal program not a built in. I hope you are able to remove the built in one first, myself I don't know if it is possible. For the style of speech, please try to use her style and speed, if you have names that are unrecogisable by the lady, try to add a nickname to the contact and you could use the nickname to activate the call etc.

The last thing to look at is the Headset itself try to use another one

Good luck

thanks heldeeb. if only there is a way to overwrite the VC and install would be easier than using microsoft vc which would take 3mb space in device memory..tks for all help.

Hi all , in WindowsMediaPlayer is there an option to upscale the picture to fill the screen in either landscape or potrait mode. It just seems a shame to have a large screen area and only using half of it. Is it the unis resolution as the same clips on my Blueangel are full screen

On the memory after reset it should be around 27- 30 MB

On the Video Call topic, Video Calling is not yet supported by WM6. However I am looking into it!

Hope this helps,

-Jwrightmcps

I almost forgot... The bluetooth Mouse driver is for Stowaway products (the best imo)

Can You Please Explain more to Me?? I tried to download it but it is unable to be download, I Live in IRAQ - Baghdad, is it work over there? Sorry for disturb and thankx for Help.

I can also confirm battery drain is faster in this rom 08 than ivan test2 however in this rom battery dies at 27% whereas aku3.5 t2 it dies at 47%.

strange.

No, no, your battery wants or about to retire anytime. This battery issue has been extensively discussed in other many many threads. Nothing to do with ROMs.

Please read.

as much as I understand that it seems weird, how does it come that it is when people flash a new rom that their batteries are suddenly about "to retire" ? Right before, I mean yesterday, my battery was still fine ! and I had no problem with it whatsoever. I find it kind of odd...
and I believed the same thing than you do before this happened to me too :(

It doesn't remember that I turn auto-complete off.
Same here :( I had switched off "Suggest words when entering text" and "Enable Auto Correct" but "Suggest words when entering text" is for some reason switched back sometimes.

I first thought that it was switched back on at the moment the on-screen-keyboard was shown but that is not that case. One case when this is happening is when I'm answering an email.

I found the following information in one of the threads. I copied it for future reference but unfortunately ommitted to copy the contributor's detail. My appologies to the original contributor. It worked for me. I used to think that Li-ion batteries had no memory effect. so here goes:

"Rechargeable batteries are prone to what is referred to as the "memory effect". What this means is that if a battery is repeatedly only partially discharged before recharging, the battery "forgets" that it has the capacity to further discharge all the way down. To illustrate: If you, on a regular basis, fully charge your battery and then use only 50% of its capacity before the next recharge, eventually the battery will become unaware of its extra 50% capacity which has remained unused. The battery will remain functional, but only at 50% of its original capacity.

The way to avoid the "memory effect" is to fully cycle (fully charge and then fully discharge) the battery at least once every two to three months. Simply leaving the device in the ON position and letting it run can discharge batteries completely. This will help insure your battery remains healthy. Once discharged, recharge the battery completely according to the manufacturer's instructions.

How I restored my HTC Universal battery

1. Fully charge the device with the "wall charger" not USB.
2. Put device into bootloader mode (backlight+power+reset) and run until device goes dead.
3. Charge the device completely with the “wall charger” not USB again.
4. Set screen brightness to MAX and turn off ALL power saving features.
5. Unplug the device from charger and run until completely dead again.
6. Repeat step 3, then restore custom screen brightness and power saving features.
7. Finished.

Some will say that this only applies to NiCad and NiMH batteries and that Li-Ion is exempt, but THIS IS NOT TRUE. Li-Ion batteries do suffer the memory effect! (Especially cheap batteries)

Just thought I would try and help...."
Once again : this is not my original contribution.

Hmmmmm. I had this problem with version .06 as I don't use the password. JWright was aware of that problem. This was one of the major reason I stayed away from .06, aside from freezing every time I soft reset. Are you using version .08?

The solution is to setup a password, even if you just set it up to activate after 24 hours. In this way, if the symptom recur, you already have the password set and it will give you access.

I've been investigating the missing Start Menu Sound Issue. I believe Microsoft intended this to be, thus not a bug. Why? I remember back when I still use AKU2 ROMs, whenever I have my BT Headset connected, every time I press on the Start button, I get a static sound that persist for a second or two with the beep sound like it is waiting for you to do something. Now, with WM6, with the sound disabled, there is no static sound, thus less annoying.

Hi Jwrightmcps and folks,

Had encounter the following upgrading prob. I am trying to perform the upgrade on my o2 stealth with the o2 xda exec rom. Had also downloaded MaUpgradeUT_noID since the first time i tried returned a country_ID error. However, when I click on upgrade button, the active sync connection disconnects by itself and the upgrade failed?! Any clue? Sorry if I sounded stupid... Thanks!

THIS IS THE HTC UNIVERSÄL FORUM, and specific to that model of handset, please don't be flashing these ROMs unless you have a Universal!!! Although this is a beta version (final test) everything is working great! Below are the details. The first one I posted is for JASJAR's, I am prepping the others now (XDA EXEC, 9000, MDA Pro) and should have them ready by this Wednesday.

As always if you have any questions or issues please post them...

How-To Verify a digitally signed file against a known serial number
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1

Download the file you wish for your device.
(i.e. "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.zip")

Step 2

Unzip the download.
(double-click the ".zip" file and then click on "Extract all files")

Step 3

Open the directory that you un-zipped the download to.
(i.e. folder "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship")

Step 4

Locate the InstallSheild setup program in the ROM folder, then right-click it and choose "Properties".
(i.e. "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.exe")

Step 5

Once the file properties is open select the "Digital Signatures" tab, then in the "Signature List" double-click the "HTCCertificates signing authority" signature.

Step 6

Once the "Digital Signature Details" is open select the "Advanced" tab then compare the "Serial number" with the known one.
(My S/N: “ec b8 10 3b e7 65 19 ba 4f 05 48 14 e3 34 97 61”)

Step 7 (Results)

If the serial numbers match then rest easy because you are using a "TRUE" Jwrightmcps ROM that has not been altered and is virus-free.

If the serial number does not match then it is not my original work and should not be used!

NOTE: I did this is case these files make it onto other sites, it will give you guys a way to tell if it is really mine or not. I will always use this serial number (ec b8 10 3b e7 65 19 ba 4f 05 48 14 e3 34 97 61) from now on to sign all my work, so please make note of it!

Take care,

-Jwrightmcps

I just upgrade to 2.01.08 and it is look like good but why it need more than 4 times soft reset to work???? that was the first question, The second one: when i un-zipped the JASJAR 2.01.08 i found 3 documents??? Hi,

So I installed the ROM to my Qtek 9000 but GPRS/3G seems dead. I am missing something or is there a problem with the ROM?

More specifically, there does not seem to be a way to connect to 3G (I have tried clicking on the connection and then tapping the Connect button, but nothing seems to happen).

I have a Qtek 9000 with rom 2.01.08.
When i receive a call I could not answer using talk (green) buttons...
None of them either the one that is on the side either the other on the top of the keyboard...
Same thing happend when i try to hang-up or ignore a call using the hang-up (red) buttons
The only way is to tap answer or ignore button on screen...

Could you please help me with that????

Afraid I don't have a reg tweak for the backlight issue... anyone?

Here it is. Add it to your registry with PHM regedit. I also added internet explorer and outlook buttons (easy) to remap them, because I found a work-around for my gmail crashes : Netfront 3.4 beta not only works great, but also puts PIE to shame. Very user friendly. Very fast. I only miss an easy way to set the homepage and increase text size (without zooming the pictures)

ok, after 2 days I think that this rom still needs a little work :)
I have had all the usual isses with 0.8 (Qtek 9000 flavor)
- freeze on certain phone calls
- soft reset and the PDA goes to hell (had to be hardware reset at least 4 times before you can actually enter the required password)
- suggest word feature that you cannot remove
- radio 1.13 that does not let you use GPRS (1.14 is fine though)
etc.
- battery drain that nothing can explain

I will keep it the time our friend comes out with a .09 :)

Yea I seem to be getting a lot of battery drain, seems to reach around 40% or so and sudenly just switches off and the only way to turn it on is to plug in the mains charger.
I know I have read this is not a ROM issue, but I have had my phone since June 2006 and until 6 days ago was perfect I could run it down to 10-15% without problems, but now everyday I have an issue with the battery.
That aside tho the ROM is superb, so much faster than WM5

Hmm... firstly use the original cable it came with, they seem tetchy sometimes if you use another (although fine with mine). Second, make sure USB connections is checked within ActiveSync/WMDC. Lastly... there's an update on Microsoft Update for WMDC (have a feeling it's an optional one), might help situation.

Hope it helps.

Hmmm... sorry man, really don't know best solution to that one... theoretically it is something that's gone wrong in the install cos there's no real reason that it wouldn't let you connect, but I can't say for sure.

Hello

I have MMS problems - even more after trying to tweak the reg. Could anyone with working mms (ie you can send/receive them) could export their registry and send me a copy? I am more precisely interested in where "MMS1" string appears (keys, data...)

Thanks in advance.

Hey, where'd you get /just/ the 1.14 update? Is there a flasher that will do the radio but nothing else? With the ROM archive down, can someone rapidshare it or something similar?

Cheers.

The way I understand, no. The ExtROM is only for programs that are installed on the phone after a flash or system restore. I think that you are not supposed to delete it; rather, you should replace it with an 'empty' file that people have around here.

That only stops your device from installing programs when it is first flashed or turned on. It won't make it faster... well, except for not running the programs that used to install. :)

First of all, a big thank you for your work! Really appreciate it.

I've been using your HTC UNIVERSAL Version 2.01.08 WWE ROM for a few days, and have had the following bugs:

1.) Having left the Universal plugged to the PC for a while (at least an hour perhaps) it asks for a password to unlock the phone, but I have definitely not set up a password and it will not accept anything I type in, not even a blank. The only solution is to soft reset. I had the same problem with the PDAVIET ROM as well.

2.) Sometimes ActiveSync (4.5 Beta Build 5059) says it can't connect, but if leave the Universal plugged in it is usually able to connect after some 10 minutes. Again, this happened with the PDAVIET ROM.

3.) Sound notification: when I set it to Vibrate mode, I still get a sound for the text message sent confirmation, which is rather embarrassing during lectures. :p There doesn't seem to be an option for this notification as well.

I think that's it for now. Thanks once again!

I too am using PDAViet's ROM and had none of the issues above. I see on your signature you still are using PDAViet's OLD version .04, maybe that is the reason.

1). I am aware of this issue. (now resolved in next release)

2). Stop using ActiveSync Beta and begin using the final release. (found here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx)

3). I have tested this right now in version .08 and it works fine. I set the device to "Vibrate" mode and sent a few text messages, my device only vibrated as is should (no sounds). Can you please double-check...

Thanks,

Sorry to say "You are wrong" but...

The radio from both ROM versions (1.90.96 & 2.01.08) are the exact same! If anything you have a corrupted download of 2.01.08 and I would suggest you re-download it.

As for your question on allowing "selected" updating, it is in the next release. It will also have radio versions 1.09, 1.13 and 1.14 available to select from during the update.

-Jwrightmcps

Thanks

Radio 1.13 works fine with MMS and GPRS by the way, in case you're being put off by people claiming it doesn't... there are issues with the GPRSAutoconnect Disconect CAB, I think that appears to turn off GPRS totally, rather than just the autoconnect.

If your GPRS isn't working despite not having activated the GPRSAutoconnect Disconnect CAB, just check your settings, they may not be quite correct.

I'm in UK and this is the best Radio I've had yet for all aspects, including wireless which I had problems with on all others.

Well, being one of the person "claiming" that GPRS did not work with the radio 1.13 packaged into .08, I can only confirm one thing : it DID NOT work. Right away after flashing a local 1.14 (I am in Europe) it did work.
Go figure.

SpyderTracks,

Do you use push-mail? I think that when you're not using pushmail, radioversion 1.13 works very fine. But when you are using push-mail, you have a problem once you have lost network coverage. After that the device cannot login anymore on GPRS ("The remote modem does not answer" error).

I'll wait until Jwrightmcps's newest release and then try other radiostacks.

Very annoying problem.
I think there are lot of us waiting for a solution for this.
Let's see what happens in the next release ;-)

Besides, another problem, never mentioned before is that sometimes the sounds and vibration for receiving an e-mail stops working.

In the ROM folder you find two applications.
The first one (JASJAR_BL1.01_RUU_v1.2) is to upgrade your bootloader. You only have to do that once (in case you did not have done that already).
The seconde one (JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship) is the actual ROM update. This one includes also the External ROM and Radio stack.

In the CABS folder you can find some additional files to enable or disable some functions. E.g. you said you were missing the rotating screen button. If you copy the cab file "Default_Signed_Show_Screen_Rotate_Icon" to your device and execute it, it will install that button. So these are some personal customisation options. You're free to use them (or not).

In the ExtROM_UNLOCKER you can find information and a application to unlock your external ROM. This subject has come to the attention a several times in this topic so read back if you want some more info about it.

At last a piece of advice, take some time to read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290234.

Good luck!

Heey Jwrightmcps,

Ive got problems with my gprs connection. It connects just fine but it sees the radio rom is buggy as hell because it will disconnect without prompting it or the signal gets totally lost and takes a while before it finds it again.

Other problem is that yuou've got a connection it disconnects and nothing what I ty will get it to reconnect. Sometimes it will try but other times it eve gets that far.

Other problem I have is when I want o use my mda pro after a night of rest. I get a problem that some programma's won't work or only half. They won't even start. This problem i've also got after a few hours of not using it.
This is especially with windows live messenger. gprs won't work and the program just hangs.
And then it gets worse and the device gets unresponsive except for the startmenu and nothing else will work or it works and it is slow as hell.

This is really annoying because only a soft reset will work. I don't know what's wrong because the first few days it worked better then the 06 version but now it works worse then an official t-mobile rom.....

How do I solve this without having to reflash my mda??

Hi Jwrightmcps,

Thanks for the quick reply.

1.) I look forward to your next release. :D Again thanks so much for your hard work!

2.) Wasn't aware of this final release of ActiveSync - I ought to come here more often. Will install it when I get home. Thanks for the info! :D

3.) Have just sent 2 more text messages and it is still giving the chimes sound. It first shows a bubble at the top, displaying the remaining credit amount (this is probably an O2 UK-only feature), and vibrates as it should; then a "Text Messages" alert shows up at the bottom, saying "Message has been sent.", and this is when the sound comes on. Could it be to do with the O2-UK network? Would it make a difference if I try the "O2 xda Exec" ROM instead of the the "HTC Universal" ROM?

The ROM is definitely the .08 version.

Your issues:

I have to say that this is news to me. I myself use this ROM (.08) and radio 1.13 (with push) and experience none of these issues. The only thing I have seen is the password issue (now fixed) and the data disconnect in elevators (but I am able to re-connect automatically).

I would like some more info about your device and any programs you may have installed. Can you please pm me your details?

Thanks,

Hi JW,

Still happy with your rom, it's so fast!
I'm using it 4 or 5 days now, can't remember exactly.

Noticed one thing, some apps use Storage memory and not Program Memory. When I flashed first time I installed all my apps to Storage memory with 5 mb left. When I was driving with my car and bluetooth enable suddenly I've got the message 'Storage Memory is critically low', so I looked at the memory and there was no mb left, so I was thinking lets empty the IE Cache because I was Internet browsing all day, when I looked at Storage memory after, the mb's where back again.

So I did a hardreset and installed all my apps to Storage card.
Now everything is stable with about 25 mb of storage and 22 mb of program memory. About the hangers, in four days I had about 3, all after softreset.

Also I have to agree about pusmail and the radio 1.13 story, pushmail interfeers the radio, sometimes when I call the other side does here me, but I do here nothing. I disabled pusmail and it looks like everything is working ok now.

Btw. I don't use voice commands because I had issues with that in past as well, should be great if you leaf it out in your next update.

Things I disabled in your current Rom:

-On today screen, Owner Info, Wireless, WindowsMedia, Internet Calling, Skype and battery icon.
-Voice Command.
-In Connections settings 'Beam disabled'
-IE Cache, days to '0'

Things Enabled:

Task Manager,
Screen\Cleartype,
Button lock.

Software installed:

-Ateksoft Coolcamera,
-Szilamer Word Suggestion Fix,
-Lang Software. ChessGenius,
-Astraware Bejeweled 2,
-Mapsolute Map24 mobile,
-Ilium Software ListPro,

Hi,

This is for people who are talking about the buttons!

1. install PHM Regedit (or any other registry editor)
2. go down to this location HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys
3. create a key "40C8"
4. Go to the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C5
5. Select all values under that key and copy it
6. Paste it under the new key "40C8" you just created in step 3
7. rename it to suit a readable name like "Backlight"
8. Softreset using some app like psShutXP or pocket plus (and NOT using the hole)
9. now, you can configure this button as u do normally.

It's not my tweak, but I keep it in MS Word as backup, I've searched for it but I can't find the link anymore, I Think it's from Buzz_Lightyear.

Hi JW, nice work!

Couple of things:

1) The links for "Version 2.01.06 WWE" from http://micmeo.com - only the JasJar link works, e.g. 404s for the XDA Exec and QTEK 9000 links.

2) Has anyone had any joy with Plantronics Pulsar 590 stereo A2DP headphones and this release? I pair fine, and it suppots A2DP and AVRCP apparently fine, but when playing music it "cuts out" after 1 second leaving a low level white-noise hum... if I pause then the hum stops, but starts up again on resume. My specific headphones are datecoded F06-B SW:SB

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi,

Congrats on this excellent ROM/RADIO/ExtROM for MDA PRO. Truly impressive. I love it. So far no problems. Much improved system response time. I was just wondering, because my initial upgrade to crossbow was using an older version of the ROM and it contained a propably 3rd party app that put a shutdown/restart option into the start menu (I recall it was called xp shutdown or something like that.) Does anyone has a cab-file for it?

Cheers,

[QUOTE=Laurentius26;1148594]Hi JW,

Still happy with your rom, it's so fast!
I'm using it 4 or 5 days now, can't remember exactly.

Noticed one thing, some apps use Storage memory and not Program Memory. When I flashed first time I installed all my apps to Storage memory with 5 mb left. When I was driving with my car and bluetooth enable suddenly I've got the message 'Storage Memory is critically low', so I looked at the memory and there was no mb left, so I was thinking lets empty the IE Cache because I was Internet browsing all day, when I looked at Storage memory after, the mb's where back again.[/quoute]

Isn't this what is supposed to happen. Your cache is on "storage memory" so it will eat it up...

Wonderful piece of work !!!

There were some issues at first I when I installed your rom image. I own an Imate JasJar and had your wm2005 AKU v3.3 rom installed on it before upgrading to wm2006. Now both your wm2005 AKU 3.3 rom and wm2006 share similar Radio ROMs. But the one included with your wm2006 package was totally unstable. My phone would freeze, randomly shutdown, or unexpectedly restart. The phone would drain my battery in less than an hour. Something was wrong and after investigating it turned out that the Radio ROM included in your wm2006 package was not stable at all. So I reflashed my Radio ROM with the ROM image included in your wm2005 AKU v3.3 and everything works fine now.

One other thing I would like to ask... It's true that your wm2006 rom package is the fastest I've seen so far, but why is wm2006 still slower than wm2005 ? Are there any tips or hacks inorder to increase OS speed ?

Your assistance would be highly appreciated.

Thanks again for a job well done.

Cheers,
Terry ;-)

I agree. Start is very slow, from soft reset. Times takes a long time to move between applications or have screen totally writed after rotate it.
I think memory mgmt is not totally fine becasue it eats very fast.

Thanks,

-Jwrightmcps

Hi Jwright, as i see, you don't have the problem that a lot of us have about not being able to reconnect the GPRS connection for the directpush after losing the network (i.e: elevator)

Im using ROM version .06 and radio 1.13 and im wondering if this problem could be already solved in the .08 version.

do you know where can i get this version?

Thanks a lot for your help!

The radio from both ROM versions (1.90.96 & 2.01.08) are the exact same!

I own an Imate JasJar and had your wm2005 AKU v3.3 rom installed on it before upgrading to wm2006. So.... Is Jwrightmcps mistaken then?

Transoftware, can you make the 1.13 radiostack you used available for download somewhere?

I've seen comments on this thread that a few people (like me) lose their autocomplete settings - I like it turned off but it seems to come back on when I have a soft reset. A similar thing happens to my choice of phone ringtone.

Apart from these minor niggles I'm enjoying the .08 ROM. Another good job JW!

hi all,

i have listed down all issues that i faced with this WM6 ROM .08
please feel free to copy this list, add your comment and issues and post it again so we can collect all bugs in one list. this way JW can get our feedback about his ROM and hopefully he will improve it.

1-No GPRS disconnect bubble ( need to add flags2 = 16 to HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone)
2-Wifi on/off bubble (solved by CAB file thanks to szilamer)
3-Some times phone hard keys don’t work.
4-Data disconnect button in comm. manager fails to disconnect GPRS
5-First 5 seconds of any media file on windows media plays at the wrong speed.

Thank you JW

Do you use push-mail? I think that when you're not using pushmail, radioversion 1.13 works very fine. But when you are using push-mail, you have a problem once you have lost network coverage. After that the device cannot login anymore on GPRS ("The remote modem does not answer" error).

Sorry for the late reply... you're right, I don't use push email... I got a bit narchy cos the thread I read didn't mention push email, just flatly said that the radio doesn't work at all, which is not accurate. It is a strange thing with Radio's, it does appear to be almost a regional variance with performance, working fine in one area and not well in another, although they are supposed to be generic... I wonder if there could be something to this?

yup thats what should happen....as you run progs the prog mem will change....since some prog do not release all heaps of memory occupied you would observe a decrease in free prog memory gradually as the time progresses...
however it is the storage memory that is used to keep temp files....
that would include pie cache (untill you specify it to be on the storage CARD)
unzipped files....files sent by active sync for installation....at times these files do not clear by themselves...so over a period of time (days to weeks) you will also notice a slight decrease in storage memory....

Just curious, is anyone running Newsbreak on this ROM? I'm running Helmi's V1.1 WM6 ROM and I experience a 5-10 second device hang if I exit a Newsbreak feed item that's trying to download a picture. If I wait for the image to load and then exit the feed item, there's no problem. I'm considering upgrading to this ROM to see if the problem is duplicated or resolved...

I notice the cab does these things:
1. Change reg: HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\EnableCPHSON S from 0 to 1
2. Change reg: HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\NoGPRSAutoAt tach from 0 to 1
3. Install file cesetup.dll in Program Files\Tool

The above reg edit is what the DisableGPRSAutoconnect CAB changes... if you're having problems with GPRS because of that CAB, just reset these values back to 0.

I know it's a v late reply, but thanks for that reg fix willy, worked great. Thanks a lot :)

I will have to second this. I am also having buggs with the phone locking up and becoming unresponsive. Especially right at the point of an incoming call. nothing to do but reset. I will try and turn gprs completely off by deleteing my connection and try for a couple of days and see if this solves the lockups.

Also when I connect and siconnect there is an snnoying "ding" each time. I tried dissabling though sounds and notifications but no changes.

I still love this rom, but I need my phone to work. I hope we can work out the bugs in this:-)

Updated my Universal to this ROM. It works well but I've had a couple of issues:

1) Turned off the phone radio using the Comm Manager and couldn't turn it back on again. Waited for 10 minutes for the phone to find a signal again after turning it back on. Solved by sticking my stylus into the reset hole. When the PDA rebooted, it vibrated constantly. Resetting again solved that and brought the phone back.

2) Voice Command software is the American version. I did download the XDA Exec version of the ROM so is it possible to include the UK version of Voice Command in the XDA ROM ?

Thanks

Good luck!

A wise man once said: Give a man a link, and he will solve his problem that day. Teach a man to use search, and he will solve his own problems for life. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php/) :)

Have you tried setting-up MS LIVE before you install any applications (other than GPRS settings)?

What applications have you installed?

What carrier are you with and what country?

Just so you are aware I use LIVE every day without issues! So the problem has to be with something that you are doing (or an app you install)...

Let me know the answers to the above and I will help out.

I have not been able to figure out the Internet calling feature. There is a program that you can use for the phone,i will post it later on. That allows you to use your mobile to talk using only wifi connections.

Once again thank you for the new ROM JW,as i knew that you would come back with the most stable,(No offense to others that have desinged this sort of ROM,but after reading pages upon pages of problems that all the other ROMS had i chose to wait until JW came with a more secure and well rounded ROM)problem free ROM yet to hit the internet highway!

Hi WhiteMonkey,

I'll try to give you my 2 cents about my personal experience with my i-Tech Clip R35 stereo headset. If I turn it on and go right to "Set as Wireless Stereo", then I get exactly what you've described about your Plantronics. Nevertheless, if I press the "talk" button on the headset, in order to stablish a handsfree connection with the Universal first (same as "Set as Hands-free", I suppose), and only then "Set as Wireless Stereo", I get hight quality stereo audio for as long as I want.
I happen to own other BT headsets as well, and what I have observed so far is that each pair headset-PDA is quite unique. One has to try different configurations, such as order of events, etc. to try to get the best of them.
Hope this helps with your specific case.
Regards.

Hi all,

In past radio 1.14.10 was working perfect for me.
Because radio 1.13 is conflicting with the phone when using pushmail I've decided to reflash JW's latest Rom ver.2.01.08 with radio 1.14.10 and test pushmail with this.
I extracted the rom.exe first and replaced the radio 1.13 with the new 1.14.10, than I flashed.
With Sprite backup I restored all my progs.
Keep you posted how this is functioning!

ok I don't know if this will help anyone but my device was really slow when I dialed the phone and closed the phone app. each time I initiated and end a call and exited the phone app the 'ding' was played. I found dpadctl.mid was that ding, at least on mine which is the o2 .02 ver and I had no install problems. I searched the registry for ALL instances of dpadctl and removed them by blanking the reference rather than deleting the key. so far no anoying ding and phone app VERY fast. in past I had many lockups in the phone during incoming calls. I first believed that this was related to the gprs connection, but may be due to a conflict of sound. hmm, don't know but will post if there are any other changes and will test with gprs and bluetooth.

Hi Laurentius26,

what version of Sprite Backup do you use?
I've been using v5.1 and also Spb Backup v1.5.5 but both couldn't backup completely by leaving message:
"Unable to read from file "\\Windows\compimeh.dat" because it is blocked by the following processes: "NK.EXE"
I've tried re-installing to ROM v.06 & this latest ROM and both displayed same problem.
Any idea?
Thanks

Hi,

I tried before, but when I try to restore a backup with Sprite something goes wrong with the Radio, so that's why I use this method.

Leo :)

Why didn't you just flash the radio? Would have been a lot easier as it keeps the main rom intact.

Hi,

If you don't want to lose all your apps and setting you can try spb backup or Sprite backup. With this software you can make a image of your OS and it places a backup on the Storage card as an backup.exe file. When you do a hardreset than you can easely restore al your settings and apps previously installed (by just select the backup.exe file on your Storage card).

Anyway I tried just flashing the Radio, but it wasn't working for me.
What I did is as follow:

First I opened the JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.exe file,
I waited till I get the tab 'Welcome to the Device Update Utility',
Than I browsed to C:\Documents and Settings\Leo\Local Settings\Temp
(Don't forget to make all files vissible on your Desktop first!),
I copied the Map with the Rom update out of the temp map and paste it on the dektop,
Closed the Device upgrade utility,
Than I replaced the Radio.nbf with the new Radio 1.14.10, putted my device in bootloader and did the upgrade with ROMUpgradeUt.exe in the same map.

After this I restored all my progs, settings, contacts enz.... with the Sprite backup.exe file on the storage card (5 minutes work!).

Sorry for the bath English, I hope you understand!

Cheers, Leo :)

Casouzaj! Obrigado! :)

Right now I'm listening to the full "Stayin' Alive" (how appropriate  ) over A2DP and it's not stopping after 1 second of playback!

For all of those that are having the same problem, to expand on the solution of Casouzaj "The Genius":

Go to BT settings and select the headset. Make sure just "Hands Free" is checked and click "Save"
Make a call on the headset (just click the call button twice, and then a third time to cancel the call)
Go back to the BT settings and check the box for "Audio/Video". Click "Save".
Go to your favourite media player and click play!!!

Bit of a pain in the A₨€ ... what is that all about? WHY!?!

As for the links... I can access http://micmeo.com/ fine, it's just that two of the links for Version 2.01.06 WWE are dead (http://micmeo.com/UNI/WM6/XDAEXEC_WWE_20106_20301_11300_wwe_ship.zip and http://micmeo.com/UNI/WM6/9000_WWE_20106_20301_11300_wwe_ship.zip for the XDA Exec and QTEK 9000 respectively). Hello again, WhiteMonkey,
Do you speak portuguese ? Or are just the "obrigado" and some other words? Anyway, for the stereo headset, you've got the spirirt ! However, it seems somewhat weird that your Plantronics requires you to perform such tricky operations each time to get A2DP running fine. My R35 has both the "Handsfree" and "Audio/Video" boxes checked all the time at the BT devices tab. The only thing I have to do before starting A2DP is to press the talk button on the headset once, to stablish the hansfree profile. But, go figure... I'm glad that you achieved A2DP running, though.:)
And as for the links, yesterday I've managed to download the Xda Exec one. It was not dead, but I've had to type the www beforehand, as I've explained before. The annoying thing was that the connection was incredibly slow. I use to download things here at 200+Kbps. With micmeo, I've got 3-Kbps only! It took me over 6 hours to download it.
Bye,
Carlos

Just make sure that you remove the nk.nbf (rom), and the ms.nbf (extended rom) files from the upgrade folder, leaving just the radio_.nbf. Once you have performed the upgrade, just perform a soft reset, rather than a hard reset. This will allow you to upgrade the radio only, and you won't lose your apps etc.

Right!!!

nk.nbf, _ms.nbf, radio.nbf can be flash individually or together or in any combinations.

Only upgrade nk.nbf need hard reset.

Upgrade radio.nbf only need soft reset.

Not advice to change _ms.nbf as it is service provider related.

Tks Steve/ Ckw for the inputs. Let me get it straight. If i just need a change of radio upgrade, i open the rom, delete the radio in it and add the radio I want and flash it to the device OR
I just run the radio upgrade normally on my pc and let it flash to the device via activesync. I need to get it right so excuse my questionare. And of course I need a soft reset.:)

Hi,

Thanks for the explanation, but I already now this.

I tried this but after I flashed only the radio and I softresetted the device it hardresetted automaticly, after that I tried to connect the radio but it didn't work, my device hanged. Now that I use the procedure described earlier everything works good. Pushmail and the Radio!

About the service provider related, what do you meen by that, my device is sim unlocked so I can use any service provider I like isn't?

Anyway, can you explain why everything is working on my device?
Pushmail and a fast radio rom?

This is something we really need to figure out... there are people without any problems at all regarding radio, and yet some are having these hanging issues... I'm sure it's a configuration issue rather than the actual ROM.

For those still looking for an easier way to get the backlight key in the Buttons config.screen.

use attached cab file.

greetings,

Wout

From my personal experience with this ROM and Radio .13, the problem with the data connection only occurs when a UMTS data connection is active (3G) and you lose your signal...If your phone reconnects with a UMTS (3G) signal, the data connection will re-connect. If the phone reconnects with only a GSM signal, the data connection will not reconnect, and the radio has to be turned off and on to reset the data connection..

I have witnessed this time and time again, and am certain that is what is happening on my phone. It may be people without problems live in strong signal areas and always reconnect with a 3G signal, thus keeping their data connection alive (or possibly only have a gsm signal, and reconnect with a gsm signal).

I dont know if the issue is the same the other way around, because I have never 'lost' a GSM signal, and then reconnected with a 3G signal (makes sense)..

The significance is not that people have push mail enabled (as has been suggested), but merely that push mail has a constantly active data connection. If an individual set the reg key to keep data active all the time, but didnt set up push mail, given the conditions described above, they would experience the same problem....I have also re-created this

I have this problem too, but i would like to add my personal experience:

I disabled 3G because i usually lose the signal when the phone goes from a 3G area to a GSM area, and it takes some time to reconnect (nothing to do with this ROM...always happened)
So this problem, that jason mentioned, happens to me, but with a GSM connection.
If i lose signal, most of the times, the phone is not able to reconnect again my data connection and im forced to disable/enable the phone to make it work.

I think, at least in my experience, it has nothing to do with 3G, because i have this problem no matter what i set in the phone band (3G, GSM , or Auto).

And yes, you're probably right, it's not a Direct Push issue, its something about reconnecting the data connections when you lose network.

Never had this problem before, with any other WM5 ROM.

Hope somebody help us!

Hi,

I have to disagree about the direct push issue,
after I disabled direct push with radio 1.13 everything was working fine.
Now that I installed radio 1.14 both direct push and radio are working fine,
and I have no problems with 3G reconnecting.

Offcourse if anything change's I keep you posted,

Good spot! I was having similar problems with the phone being unresponsive. I've done the same as you and it is now much faster and smoother. And I don't have to listen to that *%^^$*""! ding all the time!

BTW it seems to work fine with GPRS and Bluetooth.

Guys,

I have been testing things with the radio and connections. So far I have tested .09 .13 and .14 all in the USA (chicago) on both T-Mobile and Cingular. After I was done I have to say .09 looks more stable than any others, but also think that carriers and location do play a part in this.

I am wondering has anyone ever had issues with .09? As I think I might start using this as our default radio (seems to be good for all carriers).. Anyway here are my test results:

Radio .09

T-Mobile (GSM only) : PASSED
T-Mobile (UMTS only) : N/A
T-Mobile (Push) : PASSED
T-Mobile (re-connect) : PASSED
---------------------------------
CINGULAR (GSM only) : PASSED
CINGULAR (UMTS only) : N/A
CINGULAR (Push) : PASSED
CINGULAR (re-connect) : PASSED

Radio .13

T-Mobile (GSM only) : PASSED
T-Mobile (UMTS only) : N/A
T-Mobile (Push) : PASSED
T-Mobile (re-connect) : PASSED
---------------------------------
CINGULAR (GSM only) : PASSED
CINGULAR (UMTS only) : N/A
CINGULAR (Push) : FAILED
CINGULAR (re-connect) : FAILED

ok I don't know if this will help anyone but my device was really slow when I dialed the phone and closed the phone app. each time I initiated and end a call and exited the phone app the 'ding' was played.

This is a piece of genius!!! What a difference this makes.

BTW - Jwrightmcps: I am interested in what you say about the Radio ROMs. I use 1.14.10 on O2 UK and it is far more stable than 1.13. Also, out of interest 1.09 is the ROM that O2 UK bundle with their official CE ROM (which is stuck at AKU 2, I seem to recall).

Thanks for all your hard work - it really is appreciated.

Good spot! I was having similar problems with the phone being unresponsive. I've done the same as you and it is now much faster and smoother. And I don't have to listen to that *%^^$*""! ding all the time!

BTW it seems to work fine with GPRS and Bluetooth.

Can you tell me exactly what you did? I can only seem to turn the volume down through the registry. Even if I clear that fields that say 'dpadctrl' and the folder it points to, the sound still plays. The 'InitVol' key is the only thing that affects anything, but this doesn't kill the process of actually looking for the file and playing it, 'InitVol' just turns it down...

Back to what I said before; I think these things get so much of a beating in use that they are nearly all unique so what works on one may not on another. Some say this is the most stable ROM, others another, etc.

I totally agree. Just like in my case, when I tried JWright's ROM, my Universal FROZE after a soft reset without anything installed. It took me 3-4 soft resets to always get it to work, but once working, it was very stable. The only problem was, my device FROZE each time I soft reset. The same results happened when I tried Helmi's ROM. The ROM that suite my Universal was PDAViet's, never once locked or froze on me.

I agree. But I am connected with T-mobile in the USA and we don't have 3g yet if I have GPRS set to stay connected I have the problems that have been described.

I believe that it is not dependent on 3g but any data connection that is trying to stay connected but looses connection temporarily due to low or lack of signal. I believe that it is not releasing the connection properly to allow for a new connection tunnel.

John

I think this is the problem with this rom I cannot use Spb Diary or TomTom short key in today screen because the memory consume looks crazy, something that with other roms neven happened.

I agree with Grayme. Grayme and I are both on O2 UK and are presumably both using 2.01.08 WWE. Yet I found 1.13 unstable and 1.14.10 much better (although I still get the occasional hang after a soft reset). There is something else at play here which is going to render any tests of the Radio ROMs invalid unless you happen to live in the same location as the tester and use the same carrier. I wonder if it also makes a difference whether you have a G3 or a G4

Hi Leo,

Are you located in the USA. The cellular service in Europe and the rest of the world seem to be much more advanced or at least standardized more than in the States. I believe the .14 version probably does work better for you in your area. But I know from experience that more advance roms may not work better over here.

At least in Europe the UMTS (3G) band is standardized at 2100. here Cingular decided to make it 1900. T-Mobile was talking about going with 1800 and now not at all:-( Sprint is talking about using a completely different band altogether. Verizon doesn't feel they have to conform to anything with their rx... or is it vx...(whatever!) Anyways speed for data....not! And hoping for the last year to be able to use my nice EXPENSIVE exec with 3G and possibly video conferencing is completely out the door. Now I am just happy to get stable service with slow data connection and finally enjoy stereo bluetooth. Ok enough of my complaining. I'm just going to move.

Are you using a registry editor and searching from the begining for for dpadctrl?
I found at least 7 or more(I don't remember exactly) instances looking to dpadctrl.mid and \windows\dpadctrl.mid. I blanked them ALL out but left the registry strings. You may need to soft reset.

Hope this helps

Brilliant,
I have disabled all references to the sound in the registry, I think there 9 or 10, did a soft reset and the phone app flys, so much quick in all aspects of a call. Cant believe something so simple can make such a big difference.
Maybe this could be removed in the next ROM update???

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the commManager not disconnecting GPRS and 3G but I did find that the registry file is looking for a datadisconnect.exe file which i think is being called upon to kill the connection.

I searched the whole device including hidden files and couldn't find it. If anyone still has wm5 will you check and see if it is there. Upload it pls so I can test and see if this has any relevance to or data problem.

Thanks everyone.

I just did a soft reset after the radio flash, I read earlier that this should be enough.

Until now, this radio works fine for me. The connection is stable. After losing the connection, it is reconnected correct now. Since I have flashed, there was no need to manual reset the radio or do a soft reset.

On my way home I normaly lose the coverage a couple of time and it is switching between GSM and UMTS. Normally I had to reset the radio but now I don't need to do that anymore. Let's wait a few days more to see.

I think the intention of Aniel's question was not where to find it (because I put a link directly to the rar file) but how to do it without a hard reset.

Each one of us who is happy with their RADIO should create a sticky with which radio works best in each area... it seems you have found the most suitable for yours and I certainly have, and there are others too. This would really help people flashing for the first time to save them all these problems in the future.

EDIT** Have started a thread for those happy with their Radios to post so we can narrow the findings and create a sticky list, please post if you have found a Radio which you are happy with, thanks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1154638#post1154638

Hi

First of all. Thanks jwright for this great rom.
Im using version 2.01.06 and radio 1.13.00 since a few days ago, and i have a problem that i don't know how to solve..

I use DirectPush, and im always connected thru GPRS. Everything works fine, but when i lost the network (i.e: elevator) ,the activesync is unable to open the GPRS connection again. It says (No modem at above number...)
The only solution that i could find is to disable and enable again the phone...but of course that's not the best solution

Anybody here with the same problem? Any solution?

Thank you very much and let's sign against the M$ decision!!

Hello, I have been having the same problem using this 2.01.08 ROM for Dopod 900. I tried numerous versions of radio starting from 1.13.00 (included in this ROM), 1.14.10, then - as JW advised - downgraded to 1.09.00. Unfortunately it doesn't fix this particular problem

Now I use 1.11.00 Radio and it's working flawlessly for both GPRS & UMTS Network. Tried these Operators during my last business trip to Malaysia & Singapore

- Telkomsel (Indonesia)
- DiGi (Malaysia)
- Celcom (Malaysia)
- SingTel UMTS (Singapore)

Never lost the connection for 24 hours straight with each operators (means I can always get connected to the internet directly from any applications, such as profimail, PIE, FizzTraveller, etc. even after I turned the device off for several hours on each trial)

Maybe anyone else from other countries in this region can test this radio with other network(s) from above?

Here's the link for Radio 1.11.00

WOW... Is that a new update ???

Well I hope it sorts out all the bugs in the previous versions. God Damn... I've been suffering for sometime now with that new OS. Changing Radio roms to reduce system lockups and random reboots. The Os could use some tuneup and tweaks to increase OS responce time. Another thing I have noticed is the huge battery drain. On your previous wm2005 AKU3.3 rom, my battery would last for two whole days (48 Hours). But on this new wm2006 rom, it would barely last for half a day.

Will we see any improvement in OS speed ? Will we have the 3G Video Calling option ? How come the Wizard & Prophet versions of wm2006 have the Video Calling option while we don't ???

Well I hope we do see a new version with loads of improvements over the old versions. I would hate to revert back to the old wm2005 AKU3.3.

Good luck & God speed,
Terry

Ok. I assume your using a registry editor like phm or resco. I just want to make sure we are on the same page. keys are like folders in the registry and strings are like files. when you do a search and come across a string with the dpadctrl reference in it. Just click on the string to get to the properties of it. On top will be the string name and on bottom will be the value. leave the name and delete value in the bottom. Then save the string. Repeat for each string reference you find. If you reopen the string you just edited it will probably show a value of "\windows\". This is normal just leave it alone.

Hope this help and I hope I didn't insult you intelligence. Just figured I'd be thorough the first time.

Please help as i cannot get these tweaks to work!!.
How do you mean 'blanked the registry'?
Thank You

I found a copy of the datadisconnect.exe on the web and it does work but it take you into a settings page to disconnect the data. This is an extra step compared to wm5. I think the registry setting might be wrong unless MS is trying to make our lives better(more painful) again:-/ It would be great if anyone has wm5 and can post the regsettings for HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\.

Thanks for the help

Jwrightmcps,
Sometimes I have a strange problem - when I have "incoming call" , Windows blocked , but this happen only 2-3 times in week, for instance. I installed your rom in my pocket 3 times (for this reason). By the way may be the reason is in my GSM operator ???

push from exchange 2007 works as well

have had a few lockups after reset, but as others have said reducing the amount of today plugins loaded seems to cure it

has anyone tried using onenote mobile yet? i cant see to get it to launch teh cam app when i got menu->take pic

also i cannot connect access anything (internal or internet) via wireless.
using wpa1. anyone seen this yet?

will post back if i find out any info on my 2 bugs just incase i'm not alone

ps: if you ever need a beta tester for an mda pro rom :D

Works fine. Also, bear in mind that you can copy the Navigator sub-directory to the (emptied) Extended ROM and run it from there - thereby saving quite a lot of storage memory. I keep a copy of the Navigator subdirectory on my SD card so when I upgrade the ROM I don't have to re-install TomTom - I just copy the folder from the SD card to Extended ROM and run the exe from there. You can create a shortcut to the start menu by using Total Commander.

Good luck!

Dear Jwrightmcps,

Recently, I've flash the "Dopod 900 Version 2.01.08 WWE" ROM on my Dopod 900. Found that sometime after open the phone then FREEZ, and need to soft reset 1~2 time that go to normal operation. Because I need to read and write Traditional Chinese on Dopod 900, found that install the CE-Star 2.8 R2a then completely hang even soft reset several time still FREEZ. But install the Monster Cinese v.5.3 is O.K. no problem.

And I found that when Activesync 4.5 with the Dopod 900, the 900 cannot connect to internet through Desktop PC. Would you please help to advice how can I seeting the 900 connect to internal through Desktop PC?

The last one is after flash the "Dopod 900 Version 2.01.08 WWE" ROM, then the 900 Auto-Config the network carrier. But I found that there only US & UK carrier. How can I make the WM6 ROM can Auto-Config the HK (include ASIA) carrier network.

MANY THANKS FOR YOUR WORK, HOPE THAT U CAN PROVIDE THE NEW ROM with Video Call feature.

Thank you, :-)

Hey Jwrightmcps,

Just wanted to supply some feedback regarding 2.01.08 WWE:

- Either Voice Command 1.6 or the Bluetooth Stack is buggy since the Multi-Function Button of the BT Headset I use (I-Tech Stereo Headset) literally does nothing (this used to work flawlessly with Voice Command 1.6 under WM5). The solution laid out in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295967 seems void because "btagext.dll" is embedded in the ROM and can't be overwritten. A serious discrepancy is that the "btagext.dll" that comes in 2.01.08 WWE is about 4164 bytes in size but the one specified in the link is 8720 bytes in size.

- 2.01.08 WWE locks up during boot-up time roughly 3 out of 10 times. I don't exactly know where this breaks down. I have had a trial where the lock-up occurs at the Qtek splash screen where the ROM details are listed, and I have also had a lock-up when the device seemed fully booted up. This happens with no external interference, i.e: USB cable is disconnected (no ActiveSync involved), and WiFi as well as Bluetooth are disabled.

- BETA status of WM6 is quite obviously noticible when trying to preview all the sounds and notifications. You will come across sounds that do nothing as well as sounds with duplicate names.

That's about what I have found so far.

Other things which I found - which none of us can do much about are:

- No WPA (AES) as well as WPA2 WiFi Support. However, my tests in using the Universal's WiFi under WPA-PSK (with TKIP) works flawlessly - just as in WM5.

- The Equalizer functional improvement in Windows Media Player as promised (or rumored) in http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=246614 is FLASE! Only the Video Scaling, Playlist Saving, and Text Searching functions are TRUE.

Does your phone freeze while it is booting up, or does it freeze AFTER it has booted up and you are running an application?

I did not experience this probem. I have tested Network/Internet browsing using Resco Explorer with WiFi disabled and using ActiveSync 4.5 only. I did not encounter any issues.

When you are asked to select your network carrier, and you don't find you carrier - you are supposed to hit the CANCEL button to abort the network auto-configuration process. The Universal will then fall-back of its "discovery" process in configuring your network. This ofcourse requires manual intervention depending what network you are on.

Only a few things annoy me at the moment with 2.01.06 (haven't upgraded to 2.01.08 to verify possible fixes):

Remote desktop:
Using WiFi at home, I cannot connect to 192.168.1.2 the first time with the Remote Desktop client, although the MDA got a valid IP. I have to disable and enable WiFi to get connection.

Windows Live:
Maybe related to the first problem but Windows Live always connects through GPRS, although I have WiFi enabled.

Data connection:
The data connection sometimes remains in the Connection applet (green icon in stead of grey) although the GPRS connection lost. Now IE will not reconnect to GPRS and Windows Live will hangup the system.

Hopefully you can use the WM6 SDK to update the OS to RTM.

Good luck,
Peter

I have installed WM6 2.01.08 WWE on my Qtek9000. I notice the following problems:

1. After booting, it is supposed to enter SIM PIN code. If I still about 5-10 seconds without enetring SIM PIN code, the PPC freezes and I cannot do anything. My current Mobile operator is M-tel, Bulgaria.

2. I keep all my contacts on PC Outlook (as a backup). After synchronizing them and uploading to the PPC they appear on my Qtek contacts. After that I would like to remove all contacts from PC Outlook and keep using PPC to PC connection (via USB) just for file transffering, But the problem is that Qtek start synchronizing again and remove all previously synchronized contacts (because they have been removed from PC). I change the sync options - just to synchronize nothing, but it delete them anyway. I am using Windows VISTA (not ActiveSync). (with WM5 I had not such a problem)

3. There is no direct link to the Contacts in Phone menu . (you should close the Keypad and after that Keyboard icon appears )

4. If it is popssible to use USB HDD function and keep seeing the Storage card on the PPC? Because if i activate USB HDD, the storage card desapears from my PPC.

5. After using UMTS mode for wab access, the icon for the mode changes to 3G, but the internet / wab mode icon is still G. I do not know if UMTS mode is actvie or not.

THIS IS THE HTC UNIVERSÄL FORUM, and specific to that model of handset, please don't be flashing these ROMs unless you have a Universal!!! Can someone tell me whether it is true that certain 'basic' functionality is let's say 'dubious' with this rom (and others). For instance, whilst going through the thread, I noticed people even saying that something as basic as the correction button on the phone display does not work!

I would really like to try this out and greatly appreciate the work being done by the developers here and whilst I can accept something like the video call function not working, I also use the device as my day to day phone and will need to know that the bare minimum works as it should.

Your views are greatly appreciated.

The downloading is still not working, can anyone help? I have been using the 06 version and I have number of problems.

1. Battery drains like hell. If I forget to charge after 4 p.m., the device would be dead in the morning
2. I can not leave the Uni to charge on USB, becase after some time (20 min. or 1 hour) the device freezes. Before I could at least receive phone calls, when the device was frozen, but now I can not.
3. Very often the device does not want to sync and I have to soft reset, then it does.
4. Happend to me a few times that the outgoing message stayed in outbox, even if I could make phonecalls and receive sms.

Thats about it. I am looking forwards to new versions, but maybe I will go back to WM5 AKU 3.2 - worked best for me.
