The downloading is still not working, can anyone help? I have been using the 06 version and I have number of problems.

1. Battery drains like hell. If I forget to charge after 4 p.m., the device would be dead in the morning
2. I can not leave the Uni to charge on USB, becase after some time (20 min. or 1 hour) the device freezes. Before I could at least receive phone calls, when the device was frozen, but now I can not.
3. Very often the device does not want to sync and I have to soft reset, then it does.
4. Happend to me a few times that the outgoing message stayed in outbox, even if I could make phonecalls and receive sms.

Thats about it. I am looking forwards to new versions, but maybe I will go back to WM5 AKU 3.2 - worked best for me.

I had more or less the same problems, installing radio 1.14 solved it for me.
(more stable, no freezes for 4 days now, and battery drain seems normal now)

grtz.

Yes for some reason the Radio seems to make or break a stable ruuning device. Some use 1.13 and it is great while others are using 1.14...

I still don't know why yet, but I suggest people try both version of the radio to see if it runs better for now (I even got reports the 1.11 works good)

P.S. I have the Video Calling beta out being tested now, so if all is well we should have video calling in the next release too!

I didn't dare to upgrade the radio:o , so I stayed with the original 1.09 and I must say that no problems with comunication: phone, grps and wifi.

Only phonealarm doesn't work.

Do you have to do a full install of the Uni?

You can just upgrade the radio. It doesn't affect the OS at all, and you won't even need to do a hard reset after, soft will do fine. Simply download whichever radio you want off the ftp, double check inside the folder and make sure there's only the radio.nbf file present, if nk.nbf or os_.nbf, remove them and flash as normal.

Hi all,

Till now I tested the radio's 1.11, 1.12, 1.13, 1.14.
I taught radio 1.14 was the best for me, but I noticed on all radio's till now is that all have the same problem!
Example: When I drive from Amsterdam to Schiphol everything seems ok, but when I arrive suddenly the radio has problems reconnecting. I think it has to do with area changes! I noticed this on all radio's.

Cheers, Leo :)

Similar results with my XDA using WM6, none of the Radios seems happy when moving between locations & having service interuptions. My experience is based on the train into London & then the Underground to central London. I leave Push mail turned on & by the time I get to the other end I have to reset the device no matter which version of Radio.

Now using O2 release version of all software & will test this same scenario on Thursday.

Hi,

Today I downloaded last official T-mobile rom from the T-mobile website.
I extracted the .exe and took the original radio rom files out (1.10.3).
Also I extracted Jwrigtmcps's latest .08 rom and replaced the radio with the T-Mobile one.

Than I flashed!
After the rom upgrade:

-Selected T-Mobile provider customization.
-First hanger on device setup when I want to put in my sim-code.
-Reflashed radio one more time,
-Hardreset,
-No provider customization,

This time no hangers!

Restored a Sprite backup.

Everything is running again, keep you posted about the radio!

Happy flashing,

Leo :)

Hi,

Does anyone know a fix for the light button, after the unit has had the lid shut for a while, when you open the lid again there is no display, normally I would press the light button on the front of the M5000, to show a display, (it would appear that the unit is powering itself off, as the display is void of any picture) the only way to get the display back on is to press the power on button.

Any ideas?

As many others here, i still have problems to reconnect my GPRS connection when i lose signal.

I've tested radio versions 1.09, 1.11, 1.13 & 1.14, and none of them helped to solve this problem.

As someone suggested before, maybe is a strange combination between radio, rom version, and location...because it seems impossible to find a pattern that matches all the situations posted in this forum about this problem

Maybe in the next release...

Dear friends,

I'm having troubles with my hosting provider as micmeo.com has had a lot of traffic on it recently and has been causing their webservers to crash. They've set a connection limit for my website for nearly a week. I'm now trying to solve out the problem and probably I have to disable hotlinking function, that means you will not able to download it directly from here(xda-developers) or another websites which contain direct links to micmeo.com. You might want to go directly to micmeo.com and discover what I'm sharing with you in next few days.

Sorry for any inconvenience has been caused,
Thanks.

I am using the latest ROM 2.01.08 WWE from Jwrightmcps... and have not really experienced any problems except for 2 small ones...

Problem #1:
After charging the phone all night i go to unlock with my code and it says that the password is incorrect. (I soft reset and it is fine)

Problem #2:
Sometimes the connection to T-Mobile goes down. With the message cannot dial internet2.voicestream.com there is no modem at this number. (I soft reset and it is fine)

Again, these are minor problems... but i dont really like soft resetting.
Does anyone have the same problem? Looking for some solutions.

Thanks,

Hi, just wondering if anyone else has the issue of the Camera and Video buttons not doing anything when you are composing an MMS?

I choose "Custom" media message, then "Insert Photo or Video" and the Camera and Video Camera buttons do nothing. Also doesn't work from the main Compose screen and using Capture -> Video or Picture.

Not a biggy, just means I have to remember to take the photo first. But I thought I'd see if there was a fix anyway.

Does your phone freeze while it is booting up, or does it freeze AFTER it has booted up and you are running an application?

I did not experience this probem. I have tested Network/Internet browsing using Resco Explorer with WiFi disabled and using ActiveSync 4.5 only. I did not encounter any issues.

When you are asked to select your network carrier, and you don't find you carrier - you are supposed to hit the CANCEL button to abort the network auto-configuration process. The Universal will then fall-back of its "discovery" process in configuring your network. This ofcourse requires manual intervention depending what network you are on.
Hi, nvatvani,

Sorry for my late reply, my Dopod 900 found freeze just after booted up and go to TODAY theme then freeze. It's especially when I open the LCD at portrait view, then it will freeze around (4 out of 5) time booted up.

About the carrier selection, I found that xda ftp have these "Dopod_900_WWE_ExtendedROM_1.30.230" cab fils may suitable for me to solve the problem. Tonight, I will download and try. Once have result then report the details.

Thank you,

Just one very very small thing, and i am wondering if anyone else seems to get the same...

"Settings" > "Input" > "Word Completion" > "Suggest words when entering text" seems to re-activate itself after every soft reset...

Is there any way of stopping this, i have searched high and low, and it seems to only be me with the issue.

Well finally I took the plunge and installed and I have to say, I'm very satisfied. Good work JWright.

One question - has anyone managed to set up the SIP phone functionality? When I tap 'Internet Calling: Not available',it simply goes in the Phone Settings from where you can set when Internet Calling is to be used. Besides that, from where do you actually set the SIP settings such as SIP port, username and password etc.?

Thanks again.

General issues occuring every day:

- When roaming from cell to cell in the GSM network, the connection is dropped completely.
- Connection is not resumed after traveling though tunnel >> If it does manage to reconnect (which takes up to 15 minutes), the connection is useless and is dropped as soon as it is used for calling or data or etc.
- When roaming from GPRS to UMTS and vice versa connection is dropped entirely resulting in a soft-reset.

Annoyances i dont mind personaly:

- Word completion activated by default after soft-reset.
- No menu sounds.
- Weird bluetooth behavior when using Wireless stereo. Swithes to Headset profile, music goes bezerk but restores itself very quickly (occurs when other sound, like notifications, play through music)

Edit () I hope the radio stuff gets sorted out in the future, i had a bad day and I let off a little to much steam in this post. Sorry for that if you (JWright) are offended by this, my deepest appologies.

So far I have no real problems with it on my JasJar...I'm using 2.01.08.....
I have noticed a couple little things for instance the hanging during a soft reset, and well frankly my memory disappears pretty quickly...It is missing a couple of the comforts I've gotten used to from my last WM5 Rom which you made too, and having the delete in P-Outlook in the lower left corner has been hell to get used to, other than that it's pretty snappy and looks good...

I can deal with a lot of crap, and i am very patient, but that is running low right now. I hope that the radio issues are fixed in the future, but i dont think ill be there to test it. As i will be running the stock WM5 ROM again. WM6 is interrupting my daily activities so much its driving my crazy.

Thanks very much for the great efforts you put into the ROM, but i'm out of patience right now.

Biffert, you do make it sound like you are doing JWright favour in using his software which he has spent many hours developing and donates free to you to use. :(

What do you mean to "unhide" this file?

WModem.exe seems to run in my Xda Exec. However, when I specify bluetooth as the connection medium between the PDA and the Laptop, it shows as if it were connected, but I could not find any new connection on my Laptop, i.e. nothing, in fact, happens. It used to work flawlessly in WM5, though. Perhaps it might be the reason why it was originally hidden. Nevertheless, not everything is lost: Internet Sharing comes to the rescue! This program runs truly fine in WM6, because its only bluetooth option shown in the 'PC Connection' dropdown menu is 'BluetoothPAN', which happens to be the only BT profile my Laptop sees in my PDA, anyway. I select it, as well as any 'Network Connection' I had previously defined in the radio side (CSD, GPRS, etc.), and tap 'Connect' in the corresponding softkey. Then I start the PAN connection in my Laptop, and it's done!:)

Please could you clarifya what is this "internet sharing software"?

Start -> Programs -> Internet Sharing
I suppose it provides what you are looking for, or not ? Once it stablishes its connections, towards both the PC and the radio network, it should provide an internet connection to your PC, through your PDA/phone.

It should be about a week, as long as the beta testers don't report any new bugs...

Hello,

Can you post some feedback how the tests going on the new ROM. Can you say when it will be avaiable to us?

Thanks for your excellent work, and also to the testers.

Cheers,
Phil

JWright, EXCELLENT ROM!!!! I absolutely love this rom and really cant wait for the next update!

Thanks!

Well the tests have gone great (thanks beta testers); I have been able to address all issues that I am currently aware of :)

I have also corrected the radio resume issues (it was a bug that lost track of GSM status on resume!)

I am now just trying to get the Video Calling patched-up, so I can include this too. If I can not get it working by this weekend then I will move forward and provide the release (then maybe provide the Video Call as a cab)

So to answer your question on the release date, it should be by this upcoming Monday and it may include Video Calling (hopefully)

Take care,

-Jwrightmcps

P.S. Below is a list of bugs I corrected in the next release:

Password lockout issue
Auto-suggest disable issue
Voice Command bluetooth issue
Slow phone dialer application response issue
Corrected "Windows Live" icon in PIE favorites
CommManager Data Disconnect issue
GSM/GPRS resume connection issue
MMS picture camera insert function
MMS video camera insert function
Repeat lock-ups on device reboot
Extensive battery drain

Hi JW

It is excellent news that much progress has been made with some of the problems found especially the battery drain issue. THANKS for making your personal time available to this project for the benefit of many other Universal users.

I have a request. Is it at all possible to have the option to install Pocket MSN or Windows Live Messenger? as opposed to defaulting to Windows Live Messenger as part of the release. I find WLM most cumbersom to use, and takes up unnecessary space on the today screen. I also find that if one exits out of WLM it always closes the application instead of keeping it alive and running in the background. The other advantage for Pocket MSN is that it also provides an ICON which also tells one how many hotmails are unread.

Please consider my request for the next update.

Many thanks,

Norman

I've noticed one more issue that I think was overlooked. When you set the in-call volume slider to MAX and then restart your phone for whatever reason, the slider returns back to it's normal average position. Thus, having to always increase in-call volume everytime after a restart.

This was not there in your wm2005 AKU3.2

I upgraded my Universal, and yesterday when using WLM my battery died, now i can't turn it on, when i plug it in, it boots to the screen with the rom info, then turns back off, and continues to do this perpetually. I can get into bootloader, but only when connected to the mains, not a pc.

So when its plugged in it will come on, but not get past the boot screen, all other times it doesnt do anything (using battery power or usb).

Any ideas?

I posted these test results elsewhere but they are here for reference. I am very interested in the Radio Resume issue, it is probably the cause of all my problems & would account for the issues in my testing:

I have already posted about my lack of success with new ROMs & Radios so I downgraded to o2's release software as per their web site. This installed an AKU2 ROM with their extended ROM & Radio 1.09.

My test was simple, could the Exec manage a whole day without dropping a call, with push email on & without having to be reset. Simple when at home & local travel - it worked well.

Travel into London on train, tube trip to work. Another tube trip to a meeting. Return tube trip to train station, train home. By the time I got home the Exec was still happily picking up email & had not had any phone calls dropped. Active Sync showed a couple of times during the day that it had tried to sync but could not because the network was down, as it should do on the tube.

So there is a benchmark that O2's software works. No other combination of ROMs or Radios has so far been able to perform this simple test over the short period of one day. I have tried 2 Execs.

One thing to note is that the errors shown in ActiveSync in later ROMs is not the same as in AKU2, AS complains about the network being unavailable but does not seem to recognise this as a loss of network & try again, it gets itself into a total mess which is only resolved by a reset or flight mode on/off.

My conclusion therefore is that the Radio ROMs are probably at the mercy of the OS & applications more than the other way round. If Radio 1.09 can perform this well there is nothing wrong with it. AKU3.5 or WM6 with Radio 1.09 did not work when trying this test, it didn't even work by the tmie I got to work let alone by the end of the day.

aniel1
9th March 2007, 11:23 AM
I downgraded my radio to 1.09. And I am using wm6 Jright .06 so far. This radio seems very stable and I have had no call disconnects while speaking as compared to 1.13 and 1.14 radios. So I guess radios are more or less linked with countries as well as network providers and there has to be a compatibility.

Hi Jay,

I was too late to sign up for your ROM evaluation, but I do have something to contribute and some suggestions, based on when I was trying your version .08 and .06 WM6 ROMs.

I had tried PDAViet's ROMs and extracted some useful apps that you might find useful in yours, namely:

Tray Launch
WiFi Bubble Fix by szilamer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295438&highlight=bubblefix
GPRS Icon Fix by szilamer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293375
Start Menu Cleaner: must be placed at Windows/Start Up folder
Soft Key Cab
Start Up Folder Manager
Running Applications

Just let me know if you want to add them to yours.

I am also trying to extract OXIOS HIBERNATE, the old version where we don't see the window showing how much memory we got back. Save's us time from tapping the screen, it just automatically reclaims the memory.

6MB is sufficient. I tried both 6MB and 8MB, on my test, the 2MB difference is negligible. Plus, we need the 2MB extra memory.

Actually the applications I listed are BASIC utility management that anyone will need on a PPC, thus I think should be already on the ROM, rather than installing one by one, which is time consuming. Plus, they all have a small foot print.

For example:

Soft Key Manager: Who among us does not need to re-assign the soft key?

Running Applications: Who among us does not need to close or see what current running apps are present. Some may say I have this function taken care by another app, but one does not realize, ONLY the built-in running application REALLY closes all open applications.

Tray Launch: Very small foot print, necessary to place an icon on the system tray. If we can't hide the system tray, might as well use it as a launcher.

Start Up Manager: Who among us does not delete or reassign an application to be immediately launched after a soft reset?

Start Menu Cleaner: For faster Start Menu functionality. If there are no recent apps to be shown, the faster the start menu will function, especially after a soft reset or being OFF.

Hibernate: I for one does not need to explain the NECESSITY of this application. Oxios Hibernate should be built-in in ALL pocket PPC to regain some of the precious memory being eaten by the Universal.

WiFi Bubble Fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295438&highlight=bubblefix This thread will explain.

3G Icon Fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293375 This thread will explain.

I hope I explained the ABSOLUTE VALUE of these applications, so much so, it will be a built-in feature. In short, to make life easier for all of us, especially after a hard reset.

Very nice explanation but I keep my point of view.

I do agree hat we need some of those functions, but I prefer to install just what I need, and when needed; Just like a PC OS: as light as possible.

BTW: Oxios APP is really nice, and free!!!

Sorry, I agree with ultravox - I'd rather have the choice of what I install.

To answer your points in turn:

- I've never felt the need to reassign the soft key

- I use iLauncher for that, and it closes the apps I ask it to CLOSE.

- Tray Launch? I've absolutely no interest in that - iLauncher gives me nice big icons to launch stuff with.

- Start Up Manager? What? Er... I don't launch anything after a reset. I really can't see the point of this.

- Start Menu Cleaner - I like the recent apps, pretty handy.

- Hibernate. Never felt the need for this. If you have an app that closes programs then what does this give you - I never switch my Exec off.

- WiFi bubble fix. I can possibly see the merit in this.

- 3G Icon Fix. The fix is great apart from the fact it breaks all the other notification icons (SMS, Missed call, Voicemail, etc, etc). I've uninstalled it.

The bottom line is that apps like these have different value to different folk - it all depends upon how you use your Universal. I think the best bet is to leave the ROM as clean as possible, and allow people to add their own mods/apps. It only takes me half an hour to completely re-load my universal from a hard reset as I have all my cabs on my SD - it's not a great hardship for people to install the apps they want to keep if they organise themselves properly.

I can see the merit in having some software included, but even the really useful stuff like Voice Commander can be redundant if it's the wrong version - I prefer the UK version, and so I had to re-install that version over the top of the included US version in Helmi's v1.1.

Having said all this, I'm looking forward to the next release from Jay - from the fix list, it does look like it will be a sweet ROM.

Cheers,

Steve.

Sorry, I agree with ultravox - I'd rather have the choice of what I install.

...Agreed 100%.

Jay shows good decision making in what he installs, I'd prefer that he continues to offer a clean install, only adding those apps that solve real problems, not those that enhance. I think most of us really want the cleanest ROM possible, that RAM/ROM isn't easy to come by (can't wait for the new crop of WM devices with 128/256 RAM/ROM!!).

Cheers,

Steve.

I like a clean ROM myself, it was just a suggestion on my part.

- I guess I see your point of not wanting to change the soft key if all you want to launch is calendar and contacts. Not having to launch anything other than those 2 is stupidity on Microsoft's part.

- I also use iLauncher, and believe me it does not close everything.

- Sometimes some prefer nothing on the screen, so having the tray launcher instead of a big launcher like iLauncher in the today screen is also a good option.

- Hibernate, if you have not tried Oxios Hibernate, I implore you to do so and you'll thank me in the future... I hope. This does not just closes apps but recovers some hidden memory being eaten by the Universal.

- 3G Icon Fix, Never had the problem you described. Works fine on mine.

I agree that different apps have different value, thus keep it clean.

I too am organized. I too uses CAB files. You said it takes you 30 minutes to install everything, maybe if you only have 10 apps. But I bet you could not do that on my list of apps.

I myself can't wait for the next release, and yes keep it clean if you must.

YES, keep it clean thus take OFF the BT Keyboard and BT Mouse in the settings too. Because they are customizations too, aren't they. Just another suggestion.

Close All doesn't close a few tasks. Like ActiveSync, Phone, etc...

But, it has an option to Forcefully Terminate (hold and wait on item) -- especially useful for Phone which has lots of copies left after you start it... and ActiveSync still can be closed.

Some people think having frequently used programs hanging around in memory is actually beneficial due to lower reactivation times. I probably agree with them.

Actually after I moved from MN|5 to TomTom 6, the question of memory lack and leak is nonexistent anymore. (May be I just run a few apps...)

Opinions are always welcome, however, the ultimate decision is with the rom developer to ensure how the rom works to the satisfaction of everyone thus keeping all to minimum and smooth running of the OS. :)

Personally, I like vanilla as much as possible. I think there are standards that we would all use (such as skype for voip) but it's always best to leave it up to the user. I think the ROM as was in 06/08 was fine.

BTW... been in London for a few days and forgot my charger. With constant phone use, media player use on tubes and live connection over GPRS/downloading emails, battery lasted 3 DAYS!!! That's quite a record for my unit!

Hi everyone, this is my first post. Many thanks for WM6 & for everyones comments. My JasJar is now more fun than ever. My only problem was that TreNotes wouldn't install however they gave me a special WM6 version. so all is OK.

Quick question on Task Management. I was using vBar for task management & battery/memory bars however now that WM6 comes with a task closer I was wondering what I should now be using, particularly as the standard one does let me change to a running app or show the battery/memory status. Anyone got any good ideas? What will everyone else use now? Cheers.

What did you mean "Trenotes special WM6 version" ?
I also can't install but I can't solve how to do.

tried search and could not locate any mentioning of the following issue, although it is reported several times on german forums.

settings\system\Remove Programs consistantly comes up empty.

Does anyone know, how to fix this?

Is there a way, to disable the SmartDialler in the new roms?

Thanks

Hi, mistrix
I wonder if you are experiencing a far more general graphical behaviour as I am, sometimes, the last one being yesterday morming, but unfortunately I cound not find the precise circunstances. It seems to enter an weird state during the night, everything being turned off previously, but the battery runs down violently. Then, when I start it up in the morning I experience a very odd behaviour:
- I cannot start any links pointing to strings starting with ":", e.g. ":MSSYNCAPP";
- Start > settings shows about 2/3 of its usual items only;
- Those usual hyperlinks for "Power" and "Backlight" settings at at the botton of the page to save power in Start > settings > System > Power are replaced by not clickable bigger font words;
- CommManager is somewhat old fashioned, because it shows "Phone", "WiFi", "Blueetooth", and "All Off" (new!) only, all in a single row, and the "Settings" softkey at the botton shows also "Phone Settings".
I had not tried to check for "Remove Programs" in that state, as you have reported though. Perhaps I had found it emptied as you have, then.
Well, I have to soft reset to restore it to service. It happened once, though, that after the soft reset, when the system prompted me for my previously stored password, I entered it, but it simply didn't accept it. Then I had to soft reset again.
Version 2.01.08 was loaded from a previous backup (by SpriteBackup) I made from 2.01.06, which, by its turn, was buit from "zero" (i.e. hard reset without a previous backup).
Jwrightmcps, have you ever seen such weird behaviour before? Anyone?
Thank you very much for your hard work, though! I'll be waiting for your next release!
Regards.

Hi jingtex, re getting Trenotes working on WM6, I emailed support@fannsoftware.com and they quickly gave me a new version that works. Suggest you email them for an update.

I answered my own question on the best Task manager for WM6 & I am now using IndiBar. I needed a small program that shows running apps plus battery & memory indicators & with some tweaking of settings Indibar looks good on my landscape screen. Best regards.

Hi casouzaj,

Fortunately none of your symptoms occured on my installation. Its only the empty list, and this one is persistant from the initial installation.

Other items that I´m still watching is resetting the ringtone (happened once) and being unable to reassign .txt to an editor other than pword, using resco explorers open with check box (worked, but was lost after each SR; works well for other re-assignments. Did it for .txt by directly editing the registry).

@ J: Thanks for this good work, keep 'em coming ;-)

As long as usefull apps can be packed into the ROM, they're not eating any of our precious memory. Right?

So why don't add some for "free"? :-))

Hi,

Are you running IndiBar on WM6? I have been looking for an app similar to magic button where it shows the icons currently running and on the background on the top bar. From the pictures I saw from pocketgear, it seems IndiBar is capable of doing the same. Can you post a screen shot with numerous open applications running in the background please?

That's the damn strange thing... it's a standard battery I got with the unit on purchase just under a year ago!!! I can't explain it. But I kid you not, on the evening of the 3rd day was the first time I got a low battery warning... hat's off to my battery pack!

JW,

I looked through about half of the 88 pages of this thread and didn't see these mentioned yet...

Using 2.01.06 on my O2 Exec:

After rotating a picture in the picture viewer, there is an error when trying to save it.

And, when clicking on a link from inside an e-mail (such as a .jpg or .txt), I get an error message and it won't open them.

I wish I could give you more specifics, but I went back to the factory ROM until your next release. If it's really a problem, I'm sure it will be easy to duplicate.

Sorry if this has been addressed already, just trying to help.

Thanks for all your hard work!

P.S. I also corrected the no "Busy tone" issue!

God damn it's too slow. Page flipping is sooooooooooooooo slow in this new OS. When you run an application or ask the OS for something, it starts slowing down, then starts lagging, and finally it would stop responding until it has completed its task. I guess there's something wrong with the way it handles new and dying threads. As well as for the GUI. Another app that seems to suffer from that dramatic slow down in performance is the SIM STK applet. When trying to navigate through the SIM STK menu items, the phone and the STK applets hang and freeze until some sort of thread is cleared or flushed. Unlike wm2005, we did not expereince such slow downs...

The thing is.... this weird decceleration in system performance along with the massive battery drain that we all seem to suffer from seem to come from an unstable wm2006 Kernel since wm2006 is still in beta "I think".

Is there an explaination for this ? Better yet, is there a solution for it ?

I'd really love to see these bugs eliminated.

Thanks.

Hi,

Ok, I understand that, but it's always nicer to decide wich apps you like and keep the Rom as clean as possible, also I think is that the programs do eat up memory because they are running at the backround (example: voice command). It's in my opinion better to have one app instead of three apps for the same solution, and apps installed in rom are impossible to uninstall. Vanilla is vanilla and not vanilla with chocolate.

Cheers, Leo ;)

@Tansoftware

When you get a Docformat failed message with task 28, you're Universal is officially screwed. It does not matter what you will try,
the only remedy is to turn it in for repairs and get a new motherboard. Believe me, it happened twice to me. I also know why it happened in my case. I did not push the hard reset buttons correctly when I upgraded and then did a hard reset again while the system was still soft-resetting from my first wrong attempt: et voila: screwed.

I just downloaded last night (a little behind the power curve) and everything seems to be working great. The alarm went off this morning perfect. :-P I am pleased at this point (only one day). I will say this ... I put a WM6 rom on last week and I was having all kinds of problems... mainly trying to get my exchange mail to sync. It works great on this build (the first jasjar rom in the list since I couldn't get the 2.02 ver to download due to server errors). I will try to post any updates when I find something. I did notice when I first started up it asked for my net provider... I am in Germany and T-mobile was not in the listing. I assume this was to set up automatically MMS, SMS, internet... ?? dunno.. anyway. Loaded TOMTOM6 and IGO already and both work flawlessly.. BT stack worked on my southwing headset from T-mobile. Sorry if any of this info is yackaty Schmackaty.. I only got to the 18th page in the thread.. will try to read the rest from time to time to catch up. Anyway.... GREAT WORK on the rom and keep the updates coming....

I did have one question though???? Has anyone got the interent calling to work yet? I tried it on my old rom and it didn't work, haven't got to play with it on this rom. Or is this something that the provider has to have available in the network? Does anyone have a workaround for running SKYPE with navigation program??? I have not seen that work at all on WM5 or 6. Memory intensive and locks the unit.

All the points regarding video calling / internet calling have been dealt with in this thread, the 2.01.08 and the 2.02 thread (as well as others).

As to running Skype and TomTom at the same time, I'd be very surprised if that would work at all without crashing the uni - not only memory intensive but very processor intensive.

Thanks Grayme... what else?

If you read some posts on WM6 then you might find out... this is a forum after all, it's not intended as a pre-school lesson. The more you put in, the more you'll get out.

Any guy worth his salt, who successfully updates his unit without problems has done all the legwork by reading for HOURS before upgrading.

Hi I Have (XDA Atom) Can I DownLoad The (XDA Atom Exec) Version

Firstly, please find out what model phone you have and then redirect yourself to http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=297 and stick to that forum. All these ROMs are handset dependent as they all have different driver sets for the different hardware contained. If you flash to something not meant for your phone, it's quite likely "bye bye" to your atom.

Good hunting.

I have also never faced this problem. If you are using SPB Time, it is better to disable the screen saver as when connected to the charger the screen saver clock turns on. As the display remains on, the device gets warm by morning.

I've got all of SPB and Resco software working for WM6 , have tried 4 versions of the wm6 ROM and they work on all. But some of the games don't like Age of Empires and warfare incorporated.

Translation:
You see, Ultravox, as well pointed out by Graham, why so many newbies here keep insisting in 6 moths old ROMs, when the search function here works so fine? Go figure... By the way, I've also used the latest ROMs by Leo some time ago, but now I have installed Ranju's last release. I don't care about videocalls, since we don't have 3G coverage in Brazil. After I've performed some fine tunings, I think this ROM is the best WM6 ROM ever! Fast and stable!

Cheers!
Carlos

To be honest I just couldn't be bothered.

On the WM6 forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=357) (link at the top of this thread) just in the stickies there are three new ROMs and a kitchen along with above them an "Announcement: **** READ THIS BEFORE POSTING ****"....

A quick look through the threads will reveal numerous posts along the lines of 'which ROM should I use?' and numerous replies of 'use X' or 'try them and see what is best for you'.

They aren't very well hidden, just no-one can find them?

You are unlikely to get a helpful response after showing you are incapable of reading posts just a couple before yours; it sounds dangerous that you should desire to reformat the ROM of your XDA.

Can a mod lock this thread to prevent any more posts from those either wind up merchants or just lazy twonks?

It appears to be dead except that I was able to do a hard reset for which the screen came on. I followed all instructions for the install. Although maybe I was not supposed to be in synchronization mode with my device connected to the PC. However synchronization mode is the state whenever my device is connected to my PC.

I don`t use to write a lot in here, but I think this is an important issue for the wm6 roms.

I have tested severall roms and the only wich didn`t give me problems was this one.

Plus it as all the features we need and automatically configures the device to the owner
netwotk, so we can recieve mms, go online, etc...

So I think you mods could stick this thread on this part of the forum, maybe instead of other sticky thread.

After all the tries, I`ve allways made, I`ve allways come back to this one.

Love it.

NOTE: The installs have been digitally signed for your confidence and safety!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How-To Verify a digitally signed file against a known serial number
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1

Download the file you wish for your device.
(i.e. "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.zip")

Step 2

Unzip the download.
(double-click the ".zip" file and then click on "Extract all files")

Step 3

Open the directory that you un-zipped the download to.
(i.e. folder "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship")

Step 4

Locate the InstallSheild setup program in the ROM folder, then right-click it and choose "Properties".
(i.e. "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.exe")

Step 5

Once the file properties is open select the "Digital Signatures" tab, then in the "Signature List" double-click the "HTCCertificates signing authority" signature.

Step 6

Once the "Digital Signature Details" is open select the "Advanced" tab then compare the "Serial number" with the known one.
(My S/N: “ec b8 10 3b e7 65 19 ba 4f 05 48 14 e3 34 97 61”)

Step 7 (Results)

If the serial numbers match then rest easy because you are using a "TRUE" Jwrightmcps ROM that has not been altered and is virus-free.

If the serial number does not match then it is not my original work and should not be used!

NOTE: I did this is case these files make it onto other sites, it will give you guys a way to tell if it is really mine or not. I will always use this serial number (ec b8 10 3b e7 65 19 ba 4f 05 48 14 e3 34 97 61) from now on to sign all my work, so please make note of it!

Take care,

-Jwrightmcps

I am sure all these improvements are just around the corner; at least they should be in a ROM that's just shy of two years old...

I sold my Universal over a year ago, however may I suggest you take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=357

I won't charge for my services, it only took a few seconds so isn't worth the cost of the stamp.

If you cannot find a ROM on my link I suggest you don't flash your Universal.

Honestly, all I did was link you back a page to the forum with all the ROMs in it...

I understand English is not your first language, but you found this one (somehow), do you understand what forum you are on?

the screen you are in at the moment is called the bootloader. try to soft reset and see what happens. press the stylus into the little hole between the jack socket and usb socket and release it. if this doesnt help try reading here

This isn't the latest ROM (have a look at page one, it was Feb 2007).
Best look in the forum for another more recent (Tomal, luca15, ngo etc have done WM6.51)

And nearly all threads are just simple copying and pasting from the threads of other people.hah :D
