NOTE: The installs have been digitally signed for your confidence and safety!
(Digital Serial Number: ec b8 10 3b e7 65 19 ba 4f 05 48 14 e3 34 97 61)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How-To Verify a digitally signed file against a known serial number
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1
Download the file you wish for your device.
(i.e. "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.zip")
Step 2
Unzip the download.
(double-click the ".zip" file and then click on "Extract all files")
Step 3
Open the directory that you un-zipped the download to.
(i.e. folder "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship")
Step 4
Locate the InstallSheild setup program in the ROM folder, then right-click it and choose "Properties".
(i.e. "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.exe")
Step 5
Once the file properties is open select the "Digital Signatures" tab, then in the "Signature List" double-click the "HTCCertificates signing authority" signature.
Step 6
Once the "Digital Signature Details" is open select the "Advanced" tab then compare the "Serial number" with the known one.
(My S/N: “ec b8 10 3b e7 65 19 ba 4f 05 48 14 e3 34 97 61”)
Step 7 (Results)
If the serial numbers match then rest easy because you are using a "TRUE" Jwrightmcps ROM that has not been altered and is virus-free.
If the serial number does not match then it is not my original work and should not be used!
NOTE: I did this is case these files make it onto other sites, it will give you guys a way to tell if it is really mine or not. I will always use this serial number (ec b8 10 3b e7 65 19 ba 4f 05 48 14 e3 34 97 61) from now on to sign all my work, so please make note of it!
Take care,
-Jwrightmcps

Before anything else, congratulations, and thank you for providing your work to everybody.
Before I install this new WM6, I have a few questions, if you don't mind (I´m downloading it now)...
How much free RAM, just after a softreset, without any extra software?
The bt mouse driver, will it work with any bt mouse, or just the Stowaway's?
TIA

First... GOOD JOB!

Jwrightmcps
12th February 2007, 09:19 PM
On the memory after reset it should be around 27- 30 MB
On the Video Call topic, Video Calling is not yet supported by WM6. However I am looking into it!
Hope this helps,
-Jwrightmcps
I almost forgot... The bluetooth Mouse driver is for Stowaway products (the best imo)

Hello
Having a working VOIP was very attractive to me, so I tried to install it.
However the .exe in the archive seems corrupted. It won't run on windows (gives an error 155 with Installshield) and it can't be opened by Winrar either (or cabextract on Linux)
Could you please check the MD5 and tell me if yours matches ?
Got the file from:
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Universal/Jwrightmcps/Crossbow/JASJAR_WWE_20106_20301_11300_wwe_ship.zip
Maybe you could simply upload the exe - or even just the nk.nbf somewhere else, and post the correct md5?
MD5SUM:

Is there enough of a difference between the various releases of the Universal to warrant separate ROMs? I recently purchased an MDA Pro (or is it Exec? Whatever the T-Mobile version is. Would this ROM work or should I wait for the MDA-specific one?

Well not offend anyone else but all the ones I have seen (WM6) are incomplete, most of them have a corrupted module that has screwed up the Extended ROM folder, and always displays as Storage for starters, the only one I seen that didn't do this had the VOIP and many other modules crippled!
Where as my version is complete and as near perfect as I could get it.
To be honest the only thing left on my list, is get video calling to work, which I may or may not be able to do (it is hard to test in USA).
Like I said no disrespect to the other WM6 ROM creators, you guys have done everyone a great service, keep it up!
Hope this clears things up,

Well all the actual ROMs are the same except they are encoded for each device manufacturer, this ensures that the end-user (you) does not have to do anything special, except follow the on-screen instructions. However anyone one with more than average knowledge and skill can use this on any Universal device.
I suggest that all others wait for the specific Update for your device; I will create one for each Universal device, just be patient. (NOTE: all will be in English)
Take care,

So the Jasjar or EXEC version's difference is only the splash screen & device ID?
If I use MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and change the splash with tools provided in this forum, I should be able to use either of the ROMs?

Hi, I downloading the new ROM now I love your take on the new AKU...but I have sort of an OT question...
How can I get my Exec to ignore the contacts on my SIM card, and just use the contacts that I import form outlook...? Thanks in advance.
I'll post my experience with the new ROM. I'm glad you said you're getting rid of that extra 'Storage' that shows up on the phone...thanks a lot.
I did have ONE problem with your previous ROMs, but I'll see if it's still existent and I'll let you know what it is.

You don't need to enter bootloader for this upgrade... keep AS connections open and just run the update.

Change your USB cable! If everything works fine via AS and not in bootloader then you are not using the correct cable type (needs to be 5 pin not 4pin)
Hope this helps,

Glad you donated this site needs the funds, servers and bandwidth cost...
The USB HDD will allow you to use your device and SD card as a "USB Hard-Drive" via USB cable on Desktop PCs.
Usage:
1. Insert SD card into slot
2. Run USB HDD
3. Select "Activate"
4. Connect the device to the Desktop PC via the USB cable
5. You will then be able to access files stored on the SD card via the Desktop PC

Run the update without the jasjar conected, go to the documents and settings folder>your user folder>local settings>temp, open one of the last folders created and there you'll find all the files including the nbf file.
Cheers!

No that folder contains the Extended ROM Unlock tool.
You should only use this if you do not want the extended rom on your device, you would then have 10 mb of storage that does'nt get deleted after hard-resets. See the readme in that folder for more info...
Hope that helps,

I wouldn't have thought so. My understanding was that Helmi had the required files within the ROM, and the avtivation cab literally made them active - it didn't supply them, as a normal installation cab file would.

How to add the Cyberon Voice Dial to this ROM??
Laurentius26
13th February 2007, 02:45 PM
Hi,
In previous Rom's of Jwrigtmcps the A2DP was working flawlus.
I'm sure that he continued in this Rom!
On the moment I don't have my BT Stereo headset because it stopt functioning and I had to bring it back to the shop, so I can't test it yet.
But anyway to advice you, just give it a try, it's a fast rom with a lot of memory available.
btw, if you want to go back to previous Roms I advice you to use SPB Backup, with this software you can make a backup (Image) of the complete OS and place it as a backup.exe file on your Storage card.
Only thing you need to do than is Flash the previous Rom, Correct date and time, Insert your Storage Card and open the backup.exe, it will restore everything including apps and settings!
Just a tip again.

How to add the Cyberon Voice Dial to this ROM??
Is there anyway we can get these ad-ons on the ftp?
BTW after a bit of testing with my usual apps, still appears very stable. I did have a couple of hangs after soft reset when connected to PC, so have disconnected since. Tried streaming over wireless with TCPMP no problems, radio seems better than 1.09 I was with before. Added disablegprsautoconnect.cab from Helmi's 1.1 for Windows Live connection, no problems.
Haven't even bothered with SpbPPlus as I usually have as a must, don't see the need with this rom.
Only issue I've found (apart from previous lil ones), "Internet Calling" on Today screen still doesn't appear to activate... any ideas? (Hoping simply registry setting)
Got Riven's Myst game on memory card (128mb file!) Very resource intensive and it's working like a charm.
... I can't really fault this. Apart from the video call issue we're all aware of, it's a full release pretty much... fast, stable and feature packed! Many thanks indeed JWright! :D

In voice command settings i have enabled contacts and phone. When choosing contacts options button is disabled. You can only tap notifications.I chose announce notifications through device speakeror wired headset only.Only during free time option is not activated.
When choosing phone both buttons can be tapped (options and notifications).Inside options, confirm when calling by name and confirm when dialing by number are activated.Announce incoming call is not.In notification area announce notifications through device speakeror wired headset only is selected.Only during free time option is not activated.
Are these setting correct?
I still cant find how to record a voice tag and assign it to a contact name.I searched all contact options but there isnt any.I used to select notes tab in a contact and see the option to add a voice tag but now there is no such an option.
Any ideas?

FYI:
The issue is caused because the Camera.lnk file did not get copied to the "\Windows\AppButtons" directory on cold boot!
I will make a cab file to patch it for all current users to use until to next release. (it will be posted on the first page today).

Hi, I never used a WWE version at the moment, because i had fears of problems with sync. with outlook (e.g. firt name, sure name, using ä,ö,ü,ß etc.) At the moment I use the last A2DP Version from Jwrightmcps WM5 but now I'm really interested in WM6 ;) I need my universal every day for a lot of telephoning, sms etc. and I'm very happy with my current version, because it only crashes about once a week and since I use radio 1.09 I have good connection too.....
Now my questions:
- Would I have problems with WWE Versions?
- Would you recommand me to change to WM6 Jwrightmcps Version or better "never touch a running system"?
Thanks for help.

On the memory after reset it should be around 27- 30 MB
On the Video Call topic, Video Calling is not yet supported by WM6. However I am looking into it!
Hope this helps,

I almost forgot... The bluetooth Mouse driver is for Stowaway products (the best imo)
I am very hapy that you are finally back after this long period. I promply installed your New Rom without waiting like I do normally.
Thanks for the great work. I have only one issue.
A2DP, I have BT8010 and BT 620 both work fine for the recoded material on my Device but on Internet streaming like on Resco Radio or even on Skype the sound is very Choppy, after a lot of trials I found out the reason of this choppy sound is the interference with the wireless lan it even do the same on the recorded material while it work fine when I close the wifi.
This is not happening with my PC, do you have an idea how we could solve that?

Something is confuzing me. Just like other WM6 ROMs, the menu sounds don't work. I don't realy care if they work or not, but im curious though :)
Is this something that "just is" (as in: Microsoft designed it this way)
or is it a thing that rom builders can enable by choice?
or perhaps even a forgotten function? :P

No it does not have them, I will need to write a cab file to install it.
(this will take a few days as many things are in the queue already)
NOTE: I had tested the BroadComm stack myself and found that is caused issues, this is why I left the MS intact and just added the extended profiles...

No problem, I don't think I will ever include it by default, I would only provide it as a cab file (unless it becomes more stable that MS).

After a softreset it leaves to connect, as other aku 3 or wm6.

I had similar problem. However, just login to windows live/hotmail from your normal PC and verify.Thereafter the problem is solved. I think the verification address recieved in windows live mail is very long url to be accepted by the mobile device so it creates a problem.:)

those errors u mentioned in the arabizer are well known & common for both 342 & 343 versions...to switch back to 160 instead of 70 just unccheck the option of using unicode whenever necessary when writing english SMSs but for writing arabic ones u have to stick with the 70 letters ones
as for the double II no solution is available for this till now so all u can do is to go back & delete this extra I manually

For bugs in your rom not many exept for those apearing in all beta roms (sending sms with errors, missing time zones, Wi-fi off from baloon link, slow reading of SD, no VideoPhone, etc), just some verry small mistakes like icon for one note wrong (no transparent backgraund, G icon instead of 3G (in singnal strength part of toolbar), missing Tools folder in \windows\start menu\programs, much slower compared whith PDAViet.

Hello
ROM is very fast...but
I had Helmi 3.5 v 1.1, Radio 1.14 before and...
A2DP with my Jabra BT620s are now horrible... its impossible to listen music without "pause" every second ....
People say that they dont listen me often clear in BT handsfreee... i cant say if it is so horrible i will try and i will say...
I uploaded ROM in night ... then i setup only an alarm for wake up morning for 7 oclock. at 6 56 i woke up and look on mobile was working OK ...and waiting for 7 for an alarm ... nothing happend i look again and it was freeezed :(((
so i softreset mobile and went to work. Now i soft reset mobile and freeezed in wndows mobile screen. I soft reset again and it run normally.
I use only ROM, ExtRom and Radio Included... now more aplication so i must say that it is very curious...
I dont think that the ROM is bad....is very fast .... but something is wrong maybe. I will test it more and i will write here again ...
I hope u understand my not so good english ...

This ROM has a serious FLAW. The DEVICE LOCK suddenly activated without myself setting it up. So the only solution is to perform a hard reset, thus loosing all the applications installed and customizations.
I have to say, I will be staying away from any Windows Mobile 6 ROM until an official working one from any other phone can be extracted. I am loosing sleep just to find ways to bypass these bugs. I personally think, it is not worth the effort at this point.

I may have found a reason for this...
It seems that if you use cretin types of chargers (not a real wall-charger) to charge your device, it will for some unknown reason ask for a password.
Example: I tested this using the mini-USB charger that comes with Motorola Bluetooth head-sets, I left the device on the charger overnight and when I came back it was asking for a password (without one set).
Example2: I tested again using a USB cable and a PC to charge the device overnight, the device was fine.
Example3: I tested yet again using the original AC adapter overnight and the device was fine. (No password screen)
So for what ever reason this OS doesn't like those mini type chargers, but I can't see why this is the case...
Just a little info....

P.S. I never noticed this; since I always use a password myself (our exchange policy requires it)

Thanks for the reply, but I always charge using the official charger. So, I don't know what happened on mine. I guess to avoid this, as you mentioned, always set a password just in case it activates. This is a bit annoying though, as I prefer to not have any password.

To be honest I have the new version ready (almost) but really am unsure if I should post it, due to this new matter! As I DO NOT want to cause this site any more issues... MS seems to be serious about this.
I can only suggest one thing... Maybe we could get an petition going of users that would agree to not buy anymore devices for at least one year if this site must remove it’s ROMs and updates, this would at least put pressure on HTC, which in turn should put MS on the hook, because we all know that the only reason this site has become so popular is due to the lack of support by the vendors.
I can understand Microsoft’s point of view (copyrights), but also say "shame on them" for not taking care of the OS like they do for desktops. They should not be leaving it up to OEM's to keep their OS patched and up-to-date, well because it is their software and image that is on the line. Seriously if they want this OS to be widely adapted, they must provide the actual users (not OEMs) updates and patches, because nobody trusts the OEMs anymore and I for sure am not going to buy devices with an OS that may never be updated or only updated once!
Really up until now we have always used the same OS version (i.e. WM5) that was shipped with these devices, we just gave people the patches and updates they desperately needed, which IMO is helping MS by making the devices that are already out in the public (getting P/R) more stable, this helps new users become attracted to the Windows Mobile products and it's features (simple logic).
If they cut off people like me and others, where would you guys go? Who would help you when the new $1,000.00 device you just bought came with 12 month old software that locks it up every day, making it almost unusable? Who I ask? i-mate, QTEK, T-Mobile, HTC, MS???
If there was any time we should all come together, IT IS NOW!
Again this is just my view on the matter, but thought I should share it with you all. Maybe if we really think about our current issue we may find a good solution to it

I have been looking into this password issue and found something that may make some sense.
Aparently with WM6 you must set-up a password, the welcome screen is supposed to force you to do this, it seems that the build we all have didn't have that program updated in in yet.
Quote "On the first start-up the device requires you to set password (simple four-digit sequence or more reliable, secret question can be also submitted). After doing that you will be offered to set up mail by going through a wizard "
I have attached the link I read this from (under General Changes).. but still why it asks for a password (when none is set) is still unknown to me... Just thoght you would like to know...

The only reason we buy MS phone (at least for me) is because you can upgrade it and to be frank with Nokia phones and Palm OS is more stable but they are hard to tamper with....so...I think no more MS phones...back to Linux and Palm OS...sad but they r just not right...

cant believe whats happening I was patiently waiting for the t-mobile version of your rom. Just tried to put the jasjar rom on but it says country id error.
If you read through this post, somewhere near the beginning is a way to extract the .nbf files from the exe and apply them with the noID.exe which will then install fine.

Take care,

P.S. I have posted my view on the site's current issue with MS in my 2.01.06 thread...
I never entered any password in the initial screen and I dont get this window cropping up. All is fine here.:)

Well, whatever happens, Jwright, I've tried a few of the Crossbow ROM's and I think they're all great, but yours is outstanding. I flashed when it was uploaded and haven't had to reset since, and I guess I'm a lucky one, because I haven't had many of the reported bugs, and all the fixes have worked.
Many thanks.

cant believe whats happening I was patiently waiting for the t-mobile version of your rom. Just tried to put the jasjar rom on but it says country id error.
For now just use the MaUpgradeUT_noID method...
Steps:
Obtain the MaUpgradeUT_noID util (search this fourm for it)
Download your choice of 2.01.06 ROM to your Desktop PC.
Unzip the file, run the ROM update and while the ROM update is at the first screen, go to the temp directory (you can type "%temp%" in the StartMenu/Run) then copy all the ".NBF" files located in the following directory "{BDDBA5AC-E43C-47EE-9D80-F26205BB8CFF}" to the directory that contains the MaUpgradeUT_noID util.
Once you copy the ".NBF" files to the MaUpgradeUT_noID directroy, put your device into bootloader mode and update.
See the WiKi for more details....
Hope this helps for now,

HI i did many soft reset as i installed few more programmes thereafter. Still no problem. In the beginning its like a security if you want your device locked or not, its not necessary to input as i have a sim lock pwd in place. no problems here and the rom is indeed fast. :)

YES, I like this ROM too. But the device lock forced me to hard reset and loose ALL my customizations and applications installed.
I am pretty sure, I am not the only one with this problem. So always backup to be sure. For precaution. :D

I don't knows if u guys notice this but the predictive typeing and most importantly the images on the universal is like 10 times better. its like having a brand new device. I don't think wm5 made ne use of the vga screen properly at all. my universal is displaying images soooooooooooo clear its almost as good as my lappy, this rom is aces dude good work

Actually I highly recommend that you set a password in case you do experience this issue, because if it does ask for a password and you have none set you may be locked out of your device, forcing you to perform a hard-reset.
Just wanted to clarify for everyone...

Jwrightmcps, I love your ROMs like everyone else; when will the big corporate entities realise that they are only alienating the end users with their heavy handed actions that ultimately don't achieve their desired aims.
You want to see the latest blockbuster? You can still download it for free despite all the efforts of the MPAA, etc.
I can understand phone providers getting upset by the calls from users saying their phone doesn't work whilst they'd upgraded with an unofficial ROM; however if they upgraded the ROMs themselves then maybe we wouldn't (job for the likes of you at HTC Jerry? :)). On top of that, first question is 'what ROM version are you using?' If it isn't 'Slow O2 version 0.00002' then end the call there, we broke it, we fix it.
Anyway, can someone link to the petition please? (ETA: Ah, someone else has: http://www.petitiononline.com/xdadevs/petition.html)
This won't be the end, even if MS think it is.

If we have to rely on MS to send out upgrades I'll probably install Linux on my device or leave MS phones alltogether!

..., but also say "shame on them" for not taking care of the OS like they do for desktops. They should not be leaving it up to OEM's to keep their OS patched and up-to-date, ... and I for sure am not going to buy devices with an OS that may never be updated or only updated once!
-Jwrightmcps
I absolutely agree with you. If I were to be stuck with the original shipped ROM (of XDA Exec), I would have to reboot every other hour to get the $1000 phone barely functional

Is'nt it funny that when Microsoft launched Vista they made a rule in the lincence agreement that it could only be installed onetime in one PC. Later when the media and news made an issue they had to withdraw this clause or loose out the masses.
Now with Crossbow launched its absolutely stupid from their part to make all existing users having expensive hand devices to buy new devices just for an OS upgrade.
I dont think anyone of us can just keep dumping their hardware for new software upgrades that come inbuilt only with new devices.
There should have been a policy for OEMs allowing normal upgrades to existing users at least.
Here in this forum we found lots of solutions to our grief and the end result has turned out to be SAD.
I know all of you share my opinion.

Hi JWright, I am a fan of your RoM for my MDA Pro. I've just upgraded to 2.01.06 today. Your new one is exellent. I am very interested in new phone and contact interface and function. However, one inconvinient point: it's can not search my Vietnamese contact correctly. Cause I dont know to explain it due to my English, give you an example: in my contact list, there some names displayed such 'Cường', when i type 'cuon' it says not found but the previous ROM did. Please help to clear it out. Many thanks.

my experience with jasjar has been curious, times horrible, times very happy. I have to say I depend for my work on this device but it hasn't nothing in common with the device I purchased, as I think happens to you. I spend a lot of money and was really disappointed with the initial configuration and software because was too slow and no possible to use in "real life" (driving your car, with the navigator running, mails arriving and having a phone call)
No I am planning to move to Athena, at least other €1000 (I have to explain in home...) and be sure I only will do it if I can replace original software with the best performance I can find, if not I will go back to a normal phone and my laptop.
