I thought the same as you, but find out that there is a kit that fits at the back of the himalaya is a great add-on (think of it as a docking station that you use with notebook) and it has the following features:
# Support normal CF Type I and II expansion cards
# Support VGA/TV output, allowing you to play video and presentations stored on your XdaII through a PC monitor/Projector via VGA jack or TV via video or s-video jack.
# Resolution supported:
For LCD display: VGA 800x600 and 640x480
For TV output: 640x480 NTSC and PAL system
# Build-in extended battery - Charge up XdaII main battery when attached.

Strange!! No one reported similar issue out of over 1200+ download so far!!
Any way, attached CabInstl by SK. It is installer from cab-files that makes installation in the chosen place, instead of by default, as standard installer. In case the folder is not chosen installation in a folder by default is made. In case the developer of the program has set in .cab a file hard binding to an installation site - it will be used. It goes without say, the program is distributed as Freeware. I do not carry any responsibility for any consequences of its use. Install the cab, then go to programs and run it, and then config and exit. Click on the cab file you want to install and follow the prompt.

MMS & GPRS configurations depend on your service provider.
If you have been using other WM5 rom, you can use the same configurations.

Dear Himalaya Godfathers,
The prob lies in XDA II and BT GPS receiver connection. I tested my Ftech's BT GPS to connect with Qtek 2020i (WM2003SE, BT-PPC/PE ver. 1.0.0 Build 3900 - guess it is Broadcom(dot)com product ;) ) where setup and connection worked just perfect. Saddly, but can't say the same about XDA II (upgraded to this WM5 version entirely). Furthermore, tried to connect BT GPS to SPV M5000 (VM5 OS 5.1.195 (Build 14847.2.0.0) ) with no possitive results.
So, the question is - is it possible to install Broadcom's BT Manager on this VM5 ver. If yes, how can i do it. Or, maybe, there are other ways to solve BT connctn prob. Please, point me to the right way. Thanks.

Faster than what? Also note ANY old battery will drain fast. I replaced my battery after 2 years of use by one with higher capacity and it works great. May I suggest when you change your battery, make sure the new one has builtin sensor. Have a look to this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2600mAh-BATTERY-for-XDA2-XDAIIi-XDA-2i-XDA-11-MDA-II-TS_W0QQitemZ150082517126QQihZ005QQcategoryZ15034QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Has anyone tried to use Jeyo Mobile Companion 1.1? It's an SMS application for the desktop. It doesn't seem to work with this rom. All other WM5 roms seem work, though an alert pops up from comm manager on the PPC. Once you click OK it works fine. Does this mean something is missing on this ROM to make this desktop app work? I used llbasha-WM2005-AKU35pp16A2
I have no other apps installed and I tried disabling the advanced USB to PC option under connections settings.
Thanks.

First, JeyoMobileCompanion v1.1.830 works with WM5 but I suggest you use the more updated sister JeyoMobileExtender v2.5. In both cases, check you PC settings rather than PPC.
;)

Second, this version does NOT have comm manager!!! And when refereing to WM5, please indicate which AKU.
I have no other apps installed and I tried disabling the advanced USB to PC option under connections settings.
Thanks.
Nothing missing from the ROM to the best of my knowledge.

Hi.
I installed WM5 with AKU3.5 (wm5_cShekhar_AKU35bR40R24, sorry it is not your version, but this battery issue seems to be coming from AKU3.5 as it was mentioned on more threads already) as an upgrade from WM2003 (last official version of T-Mobile Germany). After doing so I noticed a change in battery life as well.
WM5 with AKU3.5 seems to drain my battery somewhat between 1.5 and twice as fast as the old WM2003. As I did not change the radio version it should be something in WM5.
I disabled all today plugins except calendar and the battery status already. What I noticed is, that active sync kicks in without beeing connected to a cradle or computer.
Then there is one more issue: with WM2003 a 10k resistor on car_on# pin of the cradle connector switched all audio to external speaker. Sadly this does not work any longer. Is there any update/hack to enable that feature as I would like to get my navigation and mp3 out of the connector as before.

Uwe

Hello IIbasha,
I have seen c_shekar and others who have made the rom for himalaya wm 2006. I love your rom and I would wait bit longer for you to bring out your version of wm 2006. I am not sure when will it come but whenever it comes I am sure it will be stable and will be better.
Good luck and hope to hear good news soon.
Kind Regards
Jay
