hey there!!
Do you have a qtek 9000 (universal) aswell??
Could you post some comparison pictures? Would be great to really see how much bigger it is.. I mean,, uni on top, side by side flipped open and such..
Really think ill go for the toshiba g(e?)900 instead.. im only in it for the speed and the resolution. Size i really think uni is in the "bigger league" for my needs but its great.
Really appreciate it!
thanks

ps.
For sharper images, put it on a minicamera stand (or whatever you have that puts it in normal height). put a normal bulblight next to it (use no flash), absolute best is put it on a white sheet of paper, where paper turns up back of the unit, and use 2 bulbs right next to each side of the camera, this gives perfect light of the product. Set the camera on the 5sec timer. Supersharp images without the flash..
THANKS!

Does TomTom realy comes with HTC package?
Does work well?
Can you make a screenshot of the small status bar when you cover the display with the keyboard?
How does scrolling work in this mode?
IS it possible to make calls without handset, like on normal mobiles?
Thanks for information :`)

Can you please try to answer my list of question above? That would be nice. I am also thinking about buying one.
On the press conference (3GSM) the HTC people told, that they will bring a WM6 upgrad as soon as possible. So I don't wan't to buy one from T-Mobile Germany. They are to damn slowly or won't every upgrade to a new OS.
Also they won't pack TomTom into it, so you have to buy your own one.

As i said a couple post before, i got an Athena for testing. I didnt get the retail box. This is not yet available.
The small screen bar is very handy. It shows messages, appointments etc.
I will try to upload a photo tonight.
Yes, you can make calls without the hands set but its rather dificult, as it doesnt have H?W keys to accept or reject calls.
Only if you have the keyboard attached you have this option.

Any idea how much i can get a basic Athena for. I am looking for the cheapest price. My budget is less than $900USD. I just sold my universal for $600USD. Also do you think that I should go for the Athena for frequent use? Is there anything better than the Athena? Like the O2 XDA Atom Exec or the O2 XDA Flame?

i have been using my universal for about 18 months now, really need to change a device, the Athena doesn't seems that much bigger to me, anyway, i don't really care about the size. If it's faster, then good! I will be getting the DOPOD u100 when it's available, possibily tomorrow !

Well in that case, all my interest for that phone have disappeared.
What an idea to have a bluetooth or wired headset plugged in your ear all day long, very uncomfortable from my point of view specially when you are in the office working and participating to conference calls ...
I'm very disappointed
I was nearly to order one, but I'm glad I didn't and thanks XDA developers and you guys for keeping this site one of the best I've ever seen for PDA, containing the latest infos and news ...

you don't need to have it in your ear all day long, i put it in my pocket, when a call comes, i just press the button to pick up the call, try to think it this way, if you are using a normal phone, you need to pick up your phone as well, so in this case, you just pick up the headset which is smaller then your phone :)

in my case I participate many conferences, many times I connect everybody from my terminal and really is great to share the device for many other things at the same time, with your hands free.
I think the critical point is what you want: a phone? -isn't the athena or the universal, a multipropose device? best is athena. I have been today in an airport lunch maintaining many calls at the same time where having a review of docs received by mail and surfing internet, all over Hsdpa. And is really great to connect a mouse for comfortably work. with a really large screen...
It is really a personal decission. The objective is to be happy with what you decide.

Well, as I have the Athena mainly as a Pocket PC data device, with 3G data, and not so much for a phone, I also bought this bluetooth handset device to compliment the Athena, in the event I want to use as an all day phone -- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300106975561
It's a nice alternative to a bluetooth or wired headset. I think it may be the solution for anyone who feels the Athena is an inconvenient phone.

Thank you guys for all the replies. I understand your point of view, but for me having a Pocket PC (PDA phone) is mainly having all in one device in my pocket (no need to carry a mobile phone +PDA+mp3+GPS portable etc ... but only one device).
So I don't like the idea that I have to keep with me the PDA and the
bluetooth (headset or handset) for phone use, maybe it's a question of getting used to it this way but I can't imagine myself going for example to the toilet playing with my Pocket PC (as I usually do) and have to take with me the bluetooth in case I receive calls.
Maybe an alternative solution is at least to have a bluetooth headset with an LCD screen that displays the name of the calling/called person (from your phone contact repertory). Do you know some models that do this?
jeffharris, does your bluetooth handset display the name of the calling person when you receive calls and the name of the called person if you make calls using the handset??? or it is just the number??
