Hi ,
I just got my M700 from a orange shop. it's great,
at first it looked like no GPS, no software and no mention of it anywhere in the phone, or the help book,
BUT
it is there,
just install ay software and point it to COM9.. hey.. hey.. it works
do the registry tweek to get the setting up in the control panel.
one well chuffed SPV m700 owner

Hi
it was free !!! can you believe it, with orange contract for £25 a month,
just tried the orange sat nav from webraska ( www.webraska.com, they have an orange part to their website)
but GPRS coverage is rubbish where I live ( 50 miles from the start of the industrial revolution, I get better coverage in Morocco)
the orange sat nav update the maps constantly as you drive, but stops when signal is bad , just when you need it, so it looks like tom tom for me.
GPS gets a fix with 5 sats when I am in my living room, I have 4 different other GPS and none will even get a fix next to the window, very impressive

just to add,
most of the orange shops got them on friday afternoon ( in UK)
I rang 150 for orange upgrade, they said delivery Tuesday, but I couldn't wait that long, so first shop I rang ( Crewe) had two in stock,
also
on orange upgrade via phone they only wanted a 12 month contract but in the shop it was 18months, I wasn't going to walk out of the shop without it, so signed for 18.

Nice to see orange took their time and have the gps all in the rom waiting for you. If the black version of the M700 is wear resistant your wait will be well worth it.

An easier way for some (especially those of us who don't use ActiveSync like Mac users ) may be to launch Orange World, and in your IE favourites you will find a bookmark for Orange Sat Nav... you can download the software there (2.1MB)....
I have done so, and launched it, however I don't seem to be connecting to a satellite when attempting... any ideas anyone?

Hmmmm... could be to do with the fact I was indoors on the 1st floor of a 30 storey office block?!
Worked perfectly outdoors though! D'Oh!

I have been waiting months for Orange to produce this phone but before I go ahead and buy, I'd really like to hear from new purchasers about the various glitches that have bedevilled the P3600:
1) Can it take 4Gb memory cards without chewing the information on them?
2) Can it handle mp3 files without eliminating the bass frequencies?
3) Does the phone work OK with a Bluetooth headset?
It would also be handy to know if anyone else bar Beadster has managed to buy it with a £25/m contract (BTW thanks for the info), so I can quote this in our local branch.
Ta muchly,

Can you post the link for the Orange Sat Nav?
Although I have access to Orange World, because I didn't buy the device from Orange, I don't have the link stored in my favourites.

hi
can confirm the UK Orange SPV M700 does have GPS enabled in its firmware.
Got mine last week - negotiated a good deal on the tarriff, lots of freebees and the bought an old phone for £50, so was quids in.
Turned on the GPS panal with the registry tweek.
Didn't do any unlocking or flashing.
Downloaded GPS tuner and 11 satalites seen and 6 locked on inside the house.
Midweek got 2GM memory, installed Tomtom, worked perfectly.
The manual mentions GPS but not how to use it.
Orange world (via the phone using GPRS connection - its the intranet version so you can't get to it via the web site on a PC or a WiFi connection on the phone) give the option to download Orange GPS - however orange GPS has to use GPRS to download routes and maps, so cheaper to invest in TomTom.
Don't ask how much for the phone, look on the web site and compare with packages.
This phone is awesome.
No need to buy £170 TomTom One now!
Have PDA connected to Wifi in house
Can send emails when away using GPRS
Use as a GPS device - tomtom for roads gps tuner for offroad
can listen to music and watch movies
AND its a phone!
Only one negative with the orange version. The cost of the gprs package is expencive. T-Mobile do unlimited for £7.50pm. Orange charge per MB so if using traffic updates with TomTom and sending and recieving your emails; it soon tots up to a lot!
Enjoy.
(rom revs already on this thread so I'm not going to add them)

I downloaded the ROM from orange website.
but as i'm a SFR user I cannot take advantage of all the features (like navigation application).
So i installed a new ROM.
but the homepage (today) screen is very nice! any chance to upload the theme from your extRom ?

A question?
Is this Orange UK rom AKU3.3 ?
I see it's version 1.23.xx.5 from january 25th and I have 1.23.XX.3 from january 23th as French rom with AKU3.0 only.
What version of WM5 is it really?
Thank you.

my m700 came with a card with a link to oranges gps software! edit: I still have it! will scan a pic up...
http://uk.orange.webraska.com/index.do?type=home&headerName=home
Have to say was impresed with there gps software. had up to date maps, traffic info and & speed camreas! Very fast and easy to use software! However it did take a while to get a gps fix, used server based maps (so your gprs use goes through the roof), and wanted a subscription on top of the gprs charges. So I am running tomtom on my trinity......
