Beloved Hermes users,

I've taken the liberty of uploading all the current ROMs onto RapidShare for our downloading pleasure. I've also updated the wiki with links to all the new locations so that when the files are removed from the XDA hosted FTP we'll still have a place to get a hold of the files. I believe this will be the easiest, quickest method as opposed to using Torrents. That way we don't need any extra software to download the files and no seeders will be needed, either. If the links to these files will ever be required to be removed from the wiki along with the FTP files, I still have the full list of download locations so we can move the info onto any page we would need in the future.

Thanks

Question: RapidShare doesn't delete a file after a certain period of inactivity? Some old files might be useful in the future, for example a certain BL1.04 ROM that match my CID...

i think if you have a full account in rapidshare, it'd be fine.

There's also an effort underway to move the library to FTP sites located outside the infleuence of m$ legal. They have no power in some areas of the world. This appears to be the ultimate solution to this issue. ITMT, rapidshare is a very good interim solution too IMO. Thanks!

If the petition is anything to go by, it would appear that m$ has merely generated (a whole lot of) bad publicity with their edict. I'm still hoping we can work with them in a positive manner because I believe that the XDA developers truly boost sales of their devices far beyond the additional costs of the occasional owner asking for operator support on cooked roms.

Support here at XDA-Devlopers helps influence my purchasing a HTC device, if anything happens to this site I would rethink my next purchases to not include M$ OS

This site is priceless for the amount of support it provides.

Sleuth255,

IMO, if M$ was so concerned, they should "MABYE" partner with the community to "interchange" intellectual property (some of you great brains on the sight) & maybe the end result will be a much better product when released & the need for update after update........... will be slowed. On the developmental side, this forum gives the and "EXCELLENT" beta testing ground to bring the best product available to market...........

Wouldn't that "BOOST" their bottom line???????

MY TWO CENTS,

vpu2....OUT!!!!

Totally Agree. The reason that I have stayed through the cycles of these devices from Blueangel on is this site. I mean I have other phones that just SIT on my desk drawer nad have been for a loooooooooong time. My HTC devices with WM software, I use and resue them and I keep purchasing the new and better devices.

Bottomline: I use and buy more of the HTC devices with MS software because of this site. I mean I have 3 versions of Wizard, 2 of HERMES for crying out loud. I think the users of this site ARE users like me that tweak and use the software/hardware to the best of their abilities AND share that info.

Can you also upload the new RUU Radio's from the bottom of the Radio ROM Wiki and there is one more Cooked ROM on the Shipped ROM page (Cingular 2.06/Radio 1.27) I am hosting those but running out of bandwidth. I have to take those down soon.

Awesome! Thanks for your help! Looks like this "no more ROMs" issue just might not be an issue after all...

Can you update the Wiki for extracted Radio ROM NBH files at the bottom the page for Rapidshare hosting.

Thanks for uploading the Shipped ROMs, I see the update on the Wiki and I removed the ones I hosted. I only get 100GB a month bandwidth sorry, fortunatley for me the site just downgraded all new memebers to only 50GB month, I was grandfathered. Still good site, uploadingit.com

ok well i have the entire ftp site mirrored. lol all 13 gigs of it. all roms and programs that were on there along with the most concurrent uploads. i will work on uploading them onto a server say across the pond so that we can all have what we wanted back. not to say that rapidshare isnt a good idea it is just too time consuming espically for people that dont pay to use it and have to wait to download. Will update the Wiki accordingly

I figured we would be ok, the xda-devs ftp is still going to be a centre for tools, ExtROMs and radio updates etc.....just not full ROMs.

I like to hear about having a few different mirrors too, probably even quicker downloads :D

(I have the Hermes section backed-up, so i may decide to upload to a mirror ftp if we are going to have several locations)

Might i suggest (instead of "Download") we change the wiki to have Mirrors instead of one single download location?
