I recently returned by T-Mobile MDA Pro for a repair and got a replacement instead. (about two months ago)
At startup the splash screen says IPL 2.21, SPL 2.21, whilst Settings - Device Information contains "ROM Version: 2.21.2.6 WWE" "ROM date: 3/9/06" (am in UK but not sure if that's UK format date i.e. 3rd Sep) and "ExtROM version: 2.21.2.109".
Those numbers don't seem to relate well to those described in the Wiki.
Which version is this?

to tell if it is g4 is by the amount of zero after the 2.21 mine is 2.21.0001 so it is a g4 because of the 3 zeros

Hello easymob
The problem is there are no zeros shown on the splash screen i.e. it says "IPL 2.21" and "SPL 2.21" just as indicated in my post.
And the Device information contains numbers which lack zeros too. The formatting has changed.

Nope, if you have no trailing .0001 you have a G3. I've noticed that providers tend to send out G3's as replacements. Lucky for you. :)

Guys please make sure you check the Wiki before posting these kinds of questions. The Wiki has all kinds of information there and in the first couple links is the information about identifying a g4 or g3 wizard.

Did you say MDA Pro? If you did, this isn't the correct forum. The one you want to be in is the HTC Universal forum.

Sorry my mistake: it's a an MDA Vario which is a Wizard.
I understand that the question is answered in the Wiki, however I wanted to be absolutely sure that the Device Information which contains very similar but slightly different numbers to the splash screen was irrelevant and could be ignored.
It would be just my luck to end up with an expensive brick.

And to answer that question, If you had no trailing .0001 on IPL/SPL you have a G3 for certain.
