Not to be redundant with other threads, but to compile in one place, maybe we can list in this thread the known issues in the new Cingular ROM, with links to the other threads where solutions/ideas are being discussed. Some of those which come to mind are the following:
Goodlink Integration with Dialer not Working (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294260&highlight=goodlink)
PIE Proxy Issues (and related VPN troubles (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294745))
SD Card Not Reading Correctly (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294324)
Disappearance of SmartDialer (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293951) ... which should be fixable with the cab file located here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1100090&postcount=368).
Additionally, know helpful registry tweaks are being (and should be) compiled here (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry)
And finally, some helpful fixes/mods:
PTT Fix (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279585) - to take back control over the PTT button (especially useful if you don't plan to use PTT)
BandSwitch (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286844) - to manage your connections (and thereby increase battery life)
Well, this is just a start.

What are the SD problems? I haven't run into anything yet...

Check the link I provided on the first post.. many folks (myself included) have intermittent problems where the directories on the card are no longer visible (until after a soft reset and/or removal and re-insertion of the card).

Bummer. I hope that doesn't hapen to me. But if this XDA-Lives ROM is released, hopefully I won't be using Cingular's (AT&T's) 2.06 ROM much longer!

Some, including myself, have lost SmartDialer.
I'm trying to find a solution.

Yeah, I have this problem too. Luckily I've been using the E-Ten Dialer, so I'm not used to the Smart Dialer. But it'd be nice if I had it available, since I'm not using E-Ten anymore.

A lot of people use PTTfix. Might want to put a shortcut to sleuth's thread, as his latest release apparently fixes the issues with it. (I'll post it if I happen to stumble across it in my journies of trying to catch up with the latest posts.)
EDIT: Here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279585

Yes, but is that really an issue or a feature? I am sure Cingular would consider it a feature, but everyone knows it's total crap.

Smart Dialer coment:
Some are having issues with new ROM and no smart dialer. I had no problems, but I also know that installing ETen Big Button Dialer (available at 8525software.com) disables Smart Dialer. So I tested it. Install ETen and as supposed too, no smart dial. Then I unistall ETen and the smart dial is back working ok. Also in the phone screen the right soft key has an option for the Smart Dialer, make sure it is turned on.
Now if anyone can get ETEN to work WITH smartdial, that would be cool.

I could not get E-Ten to work with SmartDial, though purportedly you can... see link here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=263579)for discussion on this issue.
If you do get it working, an easy step-by-step would be appreciated!

Heh.. I definitely consider it an issue.. Cingular does say feature no doubt, but I should still have the ability to remap that button. Hence the reason I suggested it. :)

I unzipped it ... just install the cab file, restart, and it should work ... or am I missing something? At the moment I don't have any version of the e-ten dialer installed (do I need to do that first?)
No the zip with the cab has the smartdialer and the ETEN buttons.

works great .. the Black Glass skins did not work, however, so I will poke around for other skins.
I lost my ATT logo when I first intalled, then un-installed, the Vista Dialer (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282570) ... that somehow removed the new ATT logo that had come with the new ROM, and switched me back to the "cingular" at the top of my dialer page (go figure). And the Cingular seems to fit pretty well on the screen (though I would be happy to lose it altogether).

Did the Vista one work for you, and is it english, since the screen shot was RUS I think.

Vista Dialer by Jimm98y (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282570) worked fine for me (and in english) ... but I didn't love the look.... I am hoping that with the Dr. Shultz/eten dialer, I will find some good skins. I like just the classic deep blue vista skin on Paulya's site (http://www.paulya.com/dialerskins.htm)... and want the equivalent to work with SmartDial. Unfortunately (as noted above) the dialerskins on Paulya's site that purport to work with the Eten Dialer+SmartDial do not work well on my machine (garbled text).
The Vista Dialer did have the unintended consequence of disappearing my ATT logo and converting me back to Cingular

Im going to look at the CAB with WinCE and see why, Maybe it will give me a clue to why Cingular showed back up, and I may use it if it looks good.
Thanks

I found the casue for you loosing the ATT for the Cingular. The CAB for that skin you installed VISTA overrights the carrierlogo.gif to an empty gif. Which in turn goes to a default pushed txt operator name ("Cingular" since the towers are not pushing "ATT" yet) I like the Cingular better bc it is smaller so I am keeping the skin from the zip I loaded in this thread. If you want the ATT back let me know I will upload the old GIF since I backed it up. They are on the Windows dir.

I actually like it without the ATT (since the carrier pushed logo is smaller and text only). Good news is you figured out how to get rid of the ATT Globe deliberately (instead of inadvertently, like me).

THe Vista theme showed me why, so thanks for your post. It makes sense since the screenshots of most only show a text carrier name, of course ATT had to out do others and add a GIF that looks ugly.

Ok -- just to keep this post current, now I have found one issue with the big button dialer we have been discussing. The Dr. Shultz Eten Dialer with smartdial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1143291&postcount=18) seems to crap out the functionality where, when you choose the dialer, you can quickly use the jog wheen to either choose your speeddial list or the recent dialed list. Problem goes away when I uninstall it .. so this must be the culprit.
Anyone else have this problem or a solution?

The jimmy footprint is only 93.5k, versus 486k for Eten.

I know, I know ... I just liked the eten look better ... still waiting to see if anyone has alternate skins for the Jimm98y dialer. At the moment I have neither installed and am using the same ole crappy dialer (due to my smartdial issues with the Dr. Shultz version) ... I need to go back to Jimm98y's dialer to see if smartdial works fully with his dialer.
UPDATE: OK, I just re-installed the Jimm98y dialer to give it another try .. this one too craps out the smartdial functionality of the scroll wheel ... hmm ... is anyone getting either the Jimmy98y dialer or the Dr. Shultz dialer to give you both smartdial and the ability to use the jogwheel in the dialer to quickly access either your speed dial numbers or your recent call list?

I'd like to see a way to select whether one wanted Goodlink to have its own database or use the standard one. I'd settle for a way to tell the phone whether to use Goodlink or the standard. :)

I am with you on that request ... and there is probably a pretty simply registry tweak to tell the dialer which contacts file to use ... unfortunately, I am not saavy enough to modify the phone on my own without others guidance, and I don't think the power users on these boards use Goodlink ... so us Goodlink users are a bit out in the cold until someone steps up who actually uses goodlink and can program :)
At any rate, my prediction is that, if Cingular/HTC ever get around to releasing this ROM, then the goodlink integration will have been "fixed" (for better or worse, depending on your preference)

I'm on a 8525 with PDA Connect and the new ROM. The install for the New ROM went without a hitch. I setup Connections for MY ISP using isp.cingular and MEdia Net using the proxy.
I skipped 4 CABs in the extended ROM:
GoodEMAIL
MobiTV
TeleNav
BlackBerry Connect
Activesync works, bluetooth and USB. I can use it as a modem with USB and bluetooth also. But when I go to send an MMS it stays in the outbox then changes to an envelope with a little clock on it. If I click do Menu->Send Receive I get the MMS notification in the title bar for a split second and the clocks change to arrow then back to clocks again.
I've searched to MMS but most problems seem to be on other devices.

I found the settings for MMS and setup display_1.bmp in MMS Config Servers Tab but where do you setup display_2.bmp? I can't find that screen.
I feel like such a dope with GSM. I've been on Verizon/CDMA for 8 years until two weeks ago.

You will have one or the other, not both.
I just included both, because one is for the included MMS, and the other is the settings for Palms Threaded MMS.

It tries to send the message. It dials it's own connection named My Connection (3G). The littleMMS envelope appears in the title bar showing the outbound arrow, then the MMS message stays in the outbox with the little clock on it.
I tried a power button 5 second reset too.
My server tab has an option for WAP 1.2 and WAP 2.0. WAP 2.0 show a port of 8080.

anyone else notice that on the 2.06 ROM the data connection times out after about 30 seconds of inactivity?
