View Full Version : [release] WST v0.3.0.3 - Wizard Service Tool
mestrini
23rd February 2007, 01:01 PM
WST - Wizard Service Tool is aimed at those not comfortable with command lines and perl installations since it packs most of itsme's tools and presents them in a 'easy-to-use' graphical interface
You won't be getting anything new from it since it suffers from same limitations as all the tools stuck with DOC chips write protections and since it's still in development stage there are some options disabled and some procedures not completed.
Anyway... i hope you enjoy it.
cheers
mestrini
PS:
Read the 'Readme.txt' file inside the archive as it contains instructions regarding the installation
PS2:
ALWAYS make a backup of different ROM/DOC zones in case something goes wrong or you'd like to return to previous condition!!
EDIT:
28-02-2007 - released version 0.2.01
05-05-2007 - released version 0.3.00 (bit bigger since it includes typho5.exe to decrypt nbf files)
16-05-2007 - released version 0.3.0.2 with some minor additions
31-05-2007 - released version 0.3.0.3 with a bug fix (Key index #0 wasn't recognized - tx Zzan)

"Write IMEI"?
Can this application change IMEI of my phone?
o.O
It can as long as it is a downgraded (SPL 1.x) CID unlocked G3 device :D
Once again i remind you all that it relies on itsme's tools which work with m-systems TrueFFS that (so far) can't bypass the DOC write protection
PS:
I'm sure that anyone with C knowledge and will to study extendedromunlocker.cab sources by itsme could manage a way to unprotect the DOC partitions. :p
Unfortunately i'm not a C guy :(

Has anyone used this to sim unlock a g4 device?
The SIM unlock feature has same limitations as CID unlock since it's not possible to write the modified data to the CID zone. I've tried to reach machinagod to know if he could unveil the process of calculating the SIM unlock code but he didn't respond any of my contacts :(
So the answer is: NO, it's not possible to SIM or CID unlock G4 devices

can this tool be used to flash the extended rom of a G4 CID locked device from a .nb file? and how.
Yes it can. Just get the 10MB *.nb file and use the "Write ROM" option to flash the "Extended ROM (BDTL - TFFS1)" zone. After a soft reset you'll see the files; after a hard-reset it will install the stuff (in case it's an ext-rom with autorun ;))
You can also follow faria's tutor to create your own extended rom by using a tool like Winimage and flash it same way as above :D

Unless the extended_rom DOC chip zone is write protected as the CID zone is...

I just installed a WM6 ROM and found out that itsutils.dll isn't being copied to the Windows folder. Please check if you have that file in there. In case you don't then copy it from WST folder via ActiveSync and then try again.
post results
EDIT:
To be more precise it's the RegSetValueEx() ,used to change a registry value, that isn't being accepted by a device with WM6. This means that, for now, one must change the registry policies by hand or upload and run the cabs (Cert_SPCS.cab and EnableRAPI.cab) to make it work.

Strange, i thought that itsme's pregutl.exe didn't need RAPI to be enabled in order to work :confused: but it looks like in WM6 it does (maybe i must dowgrade to WM5 again and recheck.)
Anyway, i'm almost finishing a new version (v0.3.00) that will cover this (I hope).

Hi!
Thank you for a great tool but how exactly do I install the extended ROM on my G4 CID locked device?
First you must get the 10MB file either from a backup or decrypted from an nk.nbf file (extracted from an RUU)
Then select the option "Write ROM" and scroll down the list until the Extended Zone and flash the file. As simple as that :D

hi
i make imei change my Rom imei 15 digit but new imei 14 digit i am not understand?

The IMEI number consists on 14 digits being the 15th a checksum digit calculated with Luhn's Algorithm (http://www.orate.co.uk/Mobiles/imei.html - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMEI - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luhn_algorithm)
This means that all you must provide is the 14 digits that my application calculates the last one automatically :cool: and displays the full 15 digits IMEI after the job is done

Only G3 devices downgraded to 1.x IPL/SPL since it depends on DOC write protection
Since you updated the program. Can CID be unlocked on G3 devices with 2.xx IPL/SPL??
Also, can the IMEI be changed now??
Or is all this still not possible

That protection is enforced by the SPL and unless someone with ARM knowledge decides to study it there is nothing any tool based on itsme work can do.

I got a question....wouldn't CID unlocking with your tool be the simplest and easiest method??
Someone can just grab a 1.xx SPL, than flash it to thier device. After, CID unlock it, than flash there original SPL back to thier device. There would be no need for flashing a person's ROM. Am I right??

21st June 2007, 02:06 PM
It's true, if you can get a RUU with only IPL and SPL, and you successfully make your IPL and SPL both downgraded to 1.xx. Then you can just CID unlock and put back other IPL and SPL or just flash other ROM that with IPL and SPL.

Be carefull with what you advise. It's dangerous to downgrade IPL/SPL to 1.xx and keep OS 2.xx. I had to use the SD recovery routine in order to get my wizard back because of an IPL/SPL 1.06 and an OS 2.17. Always downgrade IPL/SPL AND OS to 1.xx (that's why Button's ROM is the most used ;) )

Well, it's what happens with G3 devices. One downgrades and the uses my tool, lokiwiz or itsme's scripts (not forgetting that the latter is always present)
As for G3 2.xx and G4 the problem is that the SPL issues a command that write-protects some of the DOC chip zones, more precisely the CID block and the gsm_data zone (IMEI protection)
freeyayo50
21st June 2007, 11:12 PM
So it's not possible to just downgrade the SPL and CID unlock without the OS being downgraded to 1.xx as well??

I won't say for sure that it can't be done but people usually use the Button ROM which has IPL/SPL 1.01 and OS 1.05 and from my own experience i tasted the "Frozen at splash screen" problem no matter what RUU (Official or not) i flashed.

Only imei-check tool can do that since they use the SPL directly to apply the changes so no need to ever load the OS. WST instead uses winCE to write to DOC and for that the OS must be loaded (hence the need for the SPL/OS correspondence ;) )

1) Is the IMEI Check Tool here on the forums??
2) With your tool, when writing a ROM (GSM, OS or Ext), the device does not enter bootloader mode correct? That's what you mean by SPL/OS correspondence.

1- imei-check is a paid unlocking service. You must buy the sw at their site;
2- Yep, the phone must be operational. Like when using it on everyday tasks.
If i can find the time this weekend i'll try to make a picture with the way things work regarding boot and operation.

I can't tell for sure since it's been a long time since i used that feature.
The problem is that unless you 'read' the dump with an hexeditor you won't have much use for it since it's not possible to writ back to the phone. The reason? WinCE is using that area while phone is ON and won't allow to write to it via RAPI. Unlike any other areas that are loaded to RAM at boot this one is actually being used at runtime.
sorry

Oh well...thanks anyway!
What got me started on this was a tool from SPB that'll 'clone' everything thats installed on your OS and write it to another device with the same hardware/firmware. They want around $500 for it!!! Would love t know how they do it!:D
Another question...probably dumb but here goes..is there no way to take the OS.fls/nb and the UA.fls/nb files and merge them into an nk.nb?

Yes. The mtty but it requires CID unlock or security level 0 since bootloader (SPL) checks it :p

With OS you can do it the way Luiggi did (previous page in this thread); simply read from one and flash to another, being carefull with differences between SPL and OS.
As for UA the problem is that its location isn't mapped in the bootloader and thus not possible to flash via RUU (the installer wouldn't know where to write to). I believe that except when using it at runtime the only other ocasion this area is written is at hard-reset when it gets formatted.

If you do update your tool and if any of the following are possible?
Here are some suggestions if you were after any.
1. Dump all screen outputs to a readme_log.txt file
so there is a record of what people have either done,
at least there will be a key record in the file if they ever need it.
Or at least allow copying and pasting from the WST window
I'm Sure you can make the IEMI number an option for the dump,
but i'm sure it will not matter as people can read it in clear text anyways.
2. A DUMP_ALL_ROMs Button Please so i can go make dinner, come back and have all ROMs dumped.
3. Have the dump files Autoprompt the name, Something like
WST_YyyyMmDd-HhMm_ReadROM-CID
WST_YyyyMmDd-HhMm_ReadROM-EXT
WST_YyyyMmDd-HhMm_ReadROM-GSMCAL
WST_YyyyMmDd-HhMm_ReadROM-GSMRADIO
WST_YyyyMmDd-HhMm_ReadROM-OS
WST_YyyyMmDd-HhMm_ReadROM-UA
4. increase the delay for the "Wizard not detected" or "Device is not a Wizard" error that i get quite often.
5. How about a 2 second exit so we can read your goodbye message.
or Feel free to do nothing and leave it as it is. ;)
Love your Tool............. That really sounds so wrong... :o

It is weird that I can't use the program.
When I click any of the buttons, the log is showing "Detecting device", then it waits forever.
My Wizard is a Dopod 838 G3 Unlocked.
Desktop is using Traditional Chinese language of Windows XP (Installed in drive E, however mapped drive C back to E so they looks like the same).
The REXX Interpreter is installed in default location (E:\Program Files\Reginald)

First, thanks for integrating these fine tools into an easy to use package. :D
Don't know if this is related but I found that if the filename to be saved to has spaces in the filename then WST will report a device problem. Reports "couldn't get any data from phone." I am running 0.3.0.3 on W-XP
For info, when first installed I had a problem re. the working folder, I use the start menu and applied the fix given at the beginning of this thread for the Desktop shortcut to the shortcut in All Programs section and all works OK now. :)

No problem re. loading the program following the shortcut working folder fix as mentioned and only a problem when saving if spaces used in the file name otherwise OK but mentioned because it gives a similar error that makes it look like there is a problem with the wizard.

Next version will be portable and with the scripts compiled in a EXE so REXX install won't be required and shortcut issues won't happen (i hope :p)
I'll check that 'name with spaces' issue and see if it requires fix.

No it doesn't. This is EXCLUSIVELY for Wizard. It may work with Prophet (SIM and CID unlocking, and maybe changing IMEI) but no support from me (unless someone is willing to work with me in testing)

He means, are you going to have function in the next version that easily modifies the part of the ROM that controls the size of the paged pool. All it takes is 2 hex values to change it, i believe.

Yes indeed freeyayo50 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=331596) was right.
I meant this development over here:

Integrating PagePool customization is good, however are there any methods to determine if the OS in Wizard is particular version? It may be dangerous because pagepool size location in different ROM build are different.

True. But, his implementation of this feature should be for official ROMs...as the page pool location is usually in the same place.

i haven't read up on the page pool byte hex edit but its probably easy to search for the surrounding hex and patch the middle bytes.
It wouldn't matter about it being in a different address in each rom then.
This would be another reason for peoplet use WST as there is always ppl asking for different size versions.

Tx for the 'tip' m8. I've been working on it already and i do know the pattern and that there are two equal patterns in every ROM - WM5,WM6, Cooked or Official - but i'm expecting a response for the guy that showed it to us to see if he has more info about it.
If not then i'll have to rely on my feeling that it's always the second pattern that matters ;)
cheers

WST log changes:
---> v0.4.0.0 (??-09-2007)
Cleaned up some code and fixed a lot of errors resulting from new rexx interpreter version;
WST is now PORTABLE, i.e, no longer requires the install of Reginald interpreter and doesn't write to registry;
Replaced the log window (list control) with a text entry to allow selecting and copying the information;
Added more info to "Device Info" feature: cleary states if it's a G3 or G4, shows date of SPL, shows name and visibility status of extended_rom;
Removed 'Repair IMEI' section and placed the button in 'General options' (works the same way as previous);
Eliminated the Extended_ROM window and moved the functions to the main script; Added 'Format ROM' option;
Added a patching for the PagePool that doesn't rely on a fixed address (looks for pattern);
Added option to read IPL from memory;
Fixed the read SPL routine to detect G3 or G4 device (now produces a replica of the SPL.nb);
Added an option to read ALL ROM sections at-once and also automatic file naming;
Finished routine to write SPL (detects if G3 or G4);
Fixed an issue with files being saved with spaces in their names (pdocread limitation, though);

Hi
I have WST v4.2.1 - Wizard Service Tool
I start it with Async Ok.
First button also works Enable Rapi
Uploading files...
Running Cert_SPCS.cab to change Unsigned
Prompt policy...
Running EnableRAPI.cab to remove restrictions
on RAPI communications...
All Done!
You can fully use this service tool now.
Repeat procedure only after a hard-reset.
From here I get error messages Red!
On click Device Info
Warning!
A device was detected but one (or both) of RAPI
Communications and Applications Policy isn't
enabled.
Use first button for that purpose and try again
Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong
Thanks

Decrypted stored sum: 65D57D5BBD55D8A6
Decrypted calcd sum: 2AC3CA3FD8FFA039
Checksums did NOT match!!
Could not determine a key index to decrypt it.
Your CID block must be corrupted or file isn't
