I can't access to the internet by connecting my PDA to PC via USB cable, and can't use GPRS. Do you know why?
It is okay with Wifi.

More updates,

Windows live and windows live messager works flawlessly.

Voice commander works, though I do not use it very often.

All in all, this ROM is very close to perfect. Only a few issues (I mean, USB charging and battery drain) but can be easily fixed by installing some patches as I mentioned in my last 2 posts. The only issue can not be fixed so far is the button 1 and 2 reassignment. But it does not really matters to me, I just use the default settings for these 2 buttons.

Hello so after several hours proving this rom, I have found the following problems:
1 - The battery consumes more than other roms, even without doing nothing consumes, I have put him 2 patches that it put coolfire but they do not do anything.
2 - I have met 2 times the screen the backlight to 0 or in entire darkness. I believe that there is some problem with the management of energy.
Some solution to such a high consumption of battery?

I believe he thinks he can just flash it with the latest ROM. I suggest you downgrade like you did with the first time you flashed your device!
So just follow the steps from the first post.

For all you people that don't read FOLLOW THE STEPS AS PROVIDED BY SMART1!

This has to be the most easiest way I've ever flashed a device (apart from original ROM's off course :P). Somehow people just get on the XDA forum without any knowledge. That's not so bad, but most of us spent hours, days even weeks before touching their device. So please read instructions given by Smart1 or try to read the Wiki to gather the necessary information you'll need.

You should just downgrade with the NVID ROM and after that just upgrade with the latest ROM from Smart1 (UpgradeROM.bat). That should be actualy just all you have to do..

No, you hard-reset your device, let it boot (with the 2.2rom). You can either quickly tab trough the WM-welcomeconfig and let ExtRom install or not do anything, doesn't matter.. when device is completely done installing and configuring leave it that way (f.e. leave it at the today screen). Now start the upgrade.bat (yes while in Windows, not in bootloader). Now don't touch your device or USB untill the installer tells you..

there's an issue. after installing resco explorer with all plug ins. the model name becomes a square again.

I use Resco Explorer with FTP & Registry add-ins only, works fine. Don't install any of the other plugins (unless you really really need them, then you should find another solution, but the other plugins aren't very important).

Ever since I installed this rom my USB doesn't fit anyore

it used to be a little hole in the bottom, end fitted perfectly, but now it is a big hole, and the USBconnector is buzzing everytime I look at it

speaking of flashing your ROM, actually I did not follow exactly your protocol, since I have the QTEK 2.20 ROM running on my XDA neo for a long time, so, I just grabbed your file, and direct flash it. It turned out it worked even better, I can see the model no. and every thing worked perfectly. SO, I guess, as well as you have a QTEK 2.20 ROM on it, it is perfect fine to flash your WM6 rom. right?

By the way, when will the new HTC camera program be available? Are you planning to release a third new ROM including the HTC camera very soon? Or just post the cab here?

The first new ROM is almost bugless, actually it runs very stable and smooth on my unlocked XDA Neo (G4). If your third new ROM is on the way, I could just wait for your THIRD NEW ROM without trying your SECOND NEW ROM.

Also, I am wondering if you can rename your ROM file next time, since it is very confusing with the same name (I mean for example, your first NEW ROM and the second NEW ROM actually have the same name. How about add a version number like 1.0, 1.1, or just add the date you released to the file name?) It is just my two cents.

Hi, "smart1_wm6_pp8mb_NEW.exe" is a self-extracting archive. If you have installed 7zip, try to open with another compressor. Or maybe download the file again. ;)

I am suffering the same problem. Having read this entire thread and following all instruction clearly I downgraded and then installed Smart1's first Rom without any problems. I thought I'd install Smart1's latest rom so upon downgrading again and re-upgrading to Smart1's latest release I am getting the above problem. I get the same problem even when trying to load Smart1's old original wm6 rom. I've reinstalled WM5 again twice but it still has the same error when trying to upgrade to wm6.

I don't think I'm the only one having this error. I've attached a screen dump of this error.

Any help appreciated.

You can check the model no. becomes a square now. have you installed any chinese displaying program like CE-star / Monster Chinese? If you use monster, simply uninstall it and re-install it again. But don't change any regional settings after installing it. the model no. will become WIZA200 again.

after you flashed WM6 rom, you better do hard reset 1 or 2 times and then after installing WM6, you should perform 1 or 2 soft reset (pressing the soft reset button) for checking it is okay or not.

must be your procedure problem, read Wiki pls. We all have no problem of flashing WM6 rom.

Yep have read the Wiki and all relevant threads. I've been flashing my phone to and from WM6 many times for weeks/months, all using the correct proceedure, and all with no problems, which is why I find it odd that I have this problem now. In this instance my proceedure was identical to my first successfull Smart1 WM6 flash.

I just flashed my dopod 818 pro with the the latest Smart1 ROM.
But for some reason "Phone Pad" keyboard input was not working. Or maybe not included.
I installed a cab file I had for a version of it.

But I wanted to check if this was intentional? Is that the same for everyone else?

Smart-1, thanks again for a great ROM. I have been using it for two days, and the only problem I have is the power drain... For my device, I found that removing the SD Card reduced the power drain to normal levels, but with the memory card installed the device would discharge in 8 - 12 hours, even when mostly turned off.. Just need to figure out why the power usage is higher and it should be all good :)

I have installed both the PDA Viet battery fix and the SD Card memory management fix found earlier in this post, but they dont seem to have fixed the problem.

OK it seems a few people are having this problem. I don't have a fix but I seem to have discovered by chance a sort of work around that might help some people. Here goes: when I downloaded Smart1's latest rom for some reason I extracted it twice to 2 different locations on my hard drive. I don't know why i did this but I'm glad I did because the second extraction appears to have saved my bacon. I couldn't upgrade the first extraction, so I was about to give up when I tried to use the other extraction and it worked. Sooo I am figuring something went kaput in the first extraction which leads me to think that if you download the ROM again it may just work.

Would be interested to see how people that are having this problem get on.

IR is enabled by default, you could disable it via commmanager. again no need to install any additional cabs, look here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1173939&postcount=262). if you are not using voice commander remove it from sturup, disable useless input methods, set some services to manual etc. the power consumption is perfectly fine.

All, since wm6 isn't using extrom I suggest to unlock (http://rapidshare.com/files/21590922/UnlockExtRom.cab.html) it and get some free mem.

It has been a day now and six pages later since my last post. Some things:

- I've installed all my apps I've been using even on WM5.0. Everything is working like it should.
- Model No is still WIZA200 (even after multiple soft resets. No I don't use Resco Explorer)
- No charging issues
- Battery drain is normal
- Overclocking no problem

Some questions:
- Can somebody please confirm that IR doesn't work on this ROM? I mean using IR when you want to send a contact from your address book.
- After confirming you want to synchronise your Live contacts with your address book is it possible to remove them again? So it only shows your "normal" contacts again.

The consumption of battery in rest is very good, but with the illuminated screen and doing things it goes down quite rapidly. I have no problem with the name of the model, use Resco Explorer, Viewer, Today, etc ... have made several soft reset and the name has not erased.

That is what i have done (excuse me, my english is very bad), i have downloaded again the rom and placed it in a different location, executed the .exe file and then the .bat file and... :eek: everything is working !!. I think the problem was that the first time i have downloaded and exexcuted the .exe file i have moved all the files to a different folder (just to keep my pc clean ) , and then when i run the .bat file the error appears. It´s an stupid reason, but this is the only thing i have done in a different way that before. Simply but it works, i´ve spent a lot of time, reading, thinking and the solution as simply as this. Thanks again and sorry about my english.

This is what I had:

After unlocking ExtRom, the SD-card becomes the secondary storage card, but it's not actually 'named' that way (in File Explorers). Its still called 'Storage Card' and also still at the same old location as before... The ExtRom now became available as an extra SD-card, which becomes the primary storage card, called Extended_ROM2.

All this does not affect my apps (installed on the SD) at all.. so don't know what you could have done wrong :confused:

You already executed the AutoRun.exe when you booted your device for the first time with the WM6-rom. So why would you want to do that? It doesn't fix your Storage Card-ID/name problem anyway.

I don't know if you can go back and lock your ExtRom again like the way it was, but you probably can't.. so i'd suggest a hard-reset or a reflash of the rom.. :o

You don't actually activate the ExtRom, you unlock it.
The ExtRom is simply a directory with a bunch of CAB-files, which represent applications/fixes/etc. that smart1 included for the ROM to work. The ExtRom is normally locked. By unlocking it and deleting the files within the directory (Extended_ROM2), you have the use of extra free memory on your device!

When you flashed the WM6-rom, you first installed the WM6-OS itself. Then when you booted your device for the first time with WM6, it automatically installs the Extended ROM by running the config.txt (and using the AutoRun.exe). So after that the ExtRom has no further use..

No, you should have read smart1's post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1170084&postcount=136), it's right in there..

and b4 i soft reset the machine, it always hangs to death, i can't shut it dwon normally....

Reflash your (WM6)rom (first back to 2.2 etc.) or just hard-reset; skip the password setup when you configure your device on WM6-startup after flash/reset. Let the rom finish installing (extom etc.) until your device is ready for use. Now set up your password manually and try to shut down your device by holding the power button; start it up again and see if it works..

Only possible solution i can think of.. :rolleyes:

guys, I've reflashed 2.2 and Smart1 new a few times now. It seems no matter how may times I shutdown/soft reset/hard reset after a 2.2 flash, when I go through the smart1 flash, I always get a 'Cannot execute repllog.exe' error.

Do I need to investigate this or is this 'normal'? Thanks for the help.

don't know re bt stack, but the total commander should work fine, just reassign the lnk file.

1) Install the XDADev_Batfix.cab
2) Power Off (hold power button til see the dialog and press "Yes"
3) Turn On your 818pro
4) plug in the USB and let the Activesync works normally
5) after that leave it for a while says 30 mins.
6) See the battery bar in Power Control Panel (how it goes?)
7) Please come back and tell friends the result.

Is anyone else seeing this.......the phone rings for the first time, then will only vibrate after this, this is with the default ring.

If there is no cure, I will have to go back to smart1 original rom with no windows live :(

First of all, congrats on a job well doen. Everything is working fine.......except MMS. I can send but not receive. if I push send/receive it says "error synchronizing". But is I make a new MMs and just push send, it goes out perfectly. I checked all the setting for my operator and they are correct.(mms connection, gateway, url,...)

OK thanks smart1, i think I will go back to your first rom and the dll file from this new rom, the ringer has gone again, and a soft reset does not restore it, only a hard reset brings the audio back to life.

Just installed the v2 on my Dopod 818pro last night n been tested this whole day... It's nice!! Faster than WM5.0... boot up as well 2x faster. Seems no major problem at this moment. Few minor problem maybe just to share :

- Ear speaker become very loud compare to previous
- Mic volume has dropped as claimed by caller... (in fact tried to tweak but not working)
- WiFi signal become weaked with only 1 bar out of 4 as distance from Access Point less than 1 meter.

Smart1, I installed your SECOND New WM6 ROM. This time, it is really bugless. I could not find any bug.

The USB charging is fixed. No need to install any patch.

The power/battery comsuption is normal, no need to install any cab patches. With BT on, and overclock to 252MHz, overnight (10 hours) only drop 1%. Excellant!

BT stereo and handfree both works flawlessly.

BT and wifi profile were kept after multiple soft-reset, no matter what methods you used to reset. No need to paly the tricks as I mentioned before.

Windows update works.

Windows live and live messager works.

Model no. shows WIZA200, after multiple soft-reset, it is still there. :)

.....

Anyway, I could not find any bug as other people said here. And I do not really understand why others got issues?
Actually, when I tried your first new ROM, I also could not find most issues as suggested by other people here. With the first New ROM, I only got USB charging issue and battery comsuption issue, and both were fixed easily. But this time, the second new ROM is really perfect!

of course, one small issue we all know is the button 1 and 2 re-assignment. But it is really not a big issue.

By the way, smart1, I do have two questions for you.

1), Do you know what file (lnk or exe) is connected to <Today>? I want to re-assign the soft key #1 (default is Calendar) to <Today>, so that I can press soft-key 1 to back to today screen. By the way, if I know which file is for this <today> function, I know how to change the default soft-keys.

2), I know you changed the icon for taskmanager. Could you do the same for psShutXP? The default icon is really ugly. Could you change it to a fancy looking one, such as vista style? I believe a lot of us are using psShutXP, it can benefit a lot people out there.

Uhm.. I don't think so, no. As far as I know the wifi in this rom should work with every prophet-model. Did you try wifi right after you installed your ROM? It should have at least worked once.. else i can't help you.
