XDA Live edition for wizard (wm6 rom)

Is there any chance that the rom being cooked up in the Hermes forum could be used on a wizard? It looks like its going to turn into a kick arse rom and i would love to use it when its release. The hermes and wizard are pretty similar phones in terms of design, so i hope it might work. Any ideas?

That sounds like a good Idea.

I dont know enough about cooking to take it on myself, although I am going to attempt taking orwells1984 to the same state, either that or work on Underground.

I like the Idea of updating orwells1984 as it's already a clean ROM, Underground already has quite a bit of stuff moved to the extended ROM.

Doubtful. The devices are very different from what I have been reading (my Hermes arrives tomorrow.) I think that if you are successful in getting it to flash or start the flash process it would brick your Wizard. There are several flavors of WM6 roms for the Wizard in active discussions here however. I would suggest trying one of them out. A couple of them have very good reviews from users here.

Of course the standard warning applies: Your carrier most likely will NEVER release a WM6 ROM for the Wizard, use at your own risk, there WILL BE things that won't work in WM6 that work fine on WM5, at least until the developers update their software to run on WM6.

I mean I have my Wizards set up with different flavors of ROMS and are good and dandy but I would not mind a COOKED WM6 ROM from the cookers here.

I thought the cookers here did release a WM6 rom, maybe they talked about it and didn't because of MS. Didn't the PDAVIET rom use some stuff without permission from Faria? Was that from his WM6 rom or from the WM5 w/crossbow rom?

That would be AWESOME! I'm loving the Faria 3.3 ROM right now, but would love to give WM6 a spin, espeicially if its a solid foundation as the XDA Live on Hermes ROM sounds like it is (from reading the thread). The Wizard community will owe some beers to you (and all the chefs behind it). :cool:

I think that was from the 3.3 AKU ROM from Faria.

Woah this is awsom,so looks like were getting the xda live rom!! I didn't expect such a big response...that's why I love this forum! ohh and by the way Kyphur...I got my wizard when I was 15.. :) never going back(am writing this on my wizard right now,as its the only way I can manage to see the forum...schools a bitch)

HMM.. i would like to try this wm6 on my mda if it gets released. im waiting on my 8525 to try out the hermes one. just so many roms and so little time. its crazy!!!! But good luck on the roms.

as i said ive ported tytn's wm6 rom to wizard (not full rom coz of some problems with memory area, but most part of it). It works great. Ive also changed pp and move some modules in other places so you can see that i have available ~ 52 Mb RAM for use

i dont know if this is possible or not, i was playign around with the hermes the other day, and noticed it has areally nice camera...is there a way us Wizard users can get that camera software running ???

well i believe the hermes have a 2 megapixel camera on them. so thats probably why you saw the pictures coming out really nice. unfortunatey were stuck with the 1.3 . i wonder if you can just switch out the cameras on them. hmm......i wonder.......

yeah i was talking about software, cuz i hate going into options of the current one to adjust lighting, on the hermes, u can just press few buttons while the camera is still on so u can see the changes u made...and i dont like CoolCamera enough to switch to it...

well i was hoping since Kyphur is porting the ROM, he can do something for us....

camera application is oem part of rom. thats mean that it will work only with tytn

I would assume that by just taking apart the Live edition rom and then rebuilding it for the 8125 would work.

Never done this before so I dont know if its possible but it would seem logicly possible to do.

I posted the qestion earlier and I would believe once the upgrade for the MDA is release someone will have it working on a 8125 for cingular.

I doubt we will ever see a full complete cooked Wm6 rom that works 100% without having to hack around in the registry and doing the try this-try that method until something starts working. Maybe one day

Nope. Supposedly being ported from the Hermes.
