Are you using Activesync 4.5, this it what you need for WM6

Ok, Was able to update just fine.
Went to use Activesync to upload my contacts / etc, only to find that Activesync doesn't recognize my 8525 anymore. I also get the "USB Device Not Recognized" when I plug my 8525 into my computer.
Do I need to download a new driver or something? Did I miss a step?

Have also uninstalled Activesync. Rebooted, re-installed activesync.

After re-install / Hard reset, Activesync seems to be "thinking" and displays a green circle, then comes back with a "Error connecting to device"
From that point on, I get a "USB Device not Recognized" every time I plug/unplug.

Other than this "issue", I'm really quite happy with this Rom.

That "`USB" is not an issue, it is normal. what about connecting via bluetooth or infra-red?

Are Alarms working? Mine wouldn't, i have to power-on then it would ring. Looks like WMXL doesn't like to wake up. Same prob w/ sPb schedule backup.

Having you tried just going into >start >settings >USB to PC and checking or unchecking "Enable advanced network functionality"?

If not, take it for a spin and see if that helps. Good luck!

I've flashed with both and they've worked identically well for me. 4.5 is out of beta, so you might as well get that one. :D

It is specifically because the Vanilla Rom is derived from the same Base Rom I have been working with that my source is now safe as they did not provide it to the make of Vanilla.

Does This Mean That The Vanilla ROM Contains The Files/Info That Could Be Traced Back To Your Source?

If I was kyphur, I wouldn't have said what he said. But on the other hand, now there seem to be at least two sources for the same ROM image, kyphur's and the Vanilla guy. So it's no longer possible to prove from which source which files actually came.

If you just don't like the XDA Live text, that's been mentioned about a few dozen times or more on this thread already. You'll have to open up a reg editor and search for the words "XDA Live", then delete 'em.

I would appriciate it if someone could tell me what I need to install the OS, ie. bootloader, RUU, etc., and the procedure. Hello Kyphur, Thank you for the excellent work on the XDA Live ROMs. Can't wait for v0.2!

I have a request. Can you consider including two very useful programs in the next version.

1. SMSDRFix - This is something the OS ought to have had and is a feature in most Nokia and SE phones. It looks-up and replaces all numbers in SMS messages and SMS Delivery Receipts with the names from the Contacts list.

2. SIPChange - Again, the OS really ought to make the default SIP selection available to the user but SIPChange lets us do this with minimal fuss.

The exchange of the splash screen (by using Bootloader 1.01MFC) will work with the new ROM as well? Now new offset for the screens?

That's not a splash screen, I checked it after extracting the nbh.
My Hermes is already back to HTC & DOPOD Original Splash Screen, but after those 2 splash screen, you can see the green Windows mobile with XDA Live text on top.

I must be one of the few people that are having no problems with the connectivity icons (eg. U, E, G, 3G)
Im here in the UK still runnig the old 1.18 Radio from the HTC 1.35 ROM.
We dont have edge over here but I do get 3G appear on a 3G network and drops to G when I lose the signal.
Must admit that the 3G is ugly though and the nice3G icon that was posted in another thread seems incompatible with this new ROM.

first of all: Writing splash screens (main & sub) does work - no interference with the wm6 ROM.

And yes, it will not replace the XDA-live splash screen (which would be the third screen while loading...) - if its part of the ROM, ok. I´ll have to live with it ;)

All you have to do is select another .png image that you would like to replace it with, name it welcomehead.96.png and use activesync explorer to drop the image into the windows directory then soft reset, the image will be replaced with the new one.

same problem here, but I really don´t know why, now the problem is gone. I just installed all my application, and now I can connect any time, without any prob. the problem occur only when I HR device. :eek: perhaps some REG cabs - which I installed- corrected this error, because I want to try video calls ... who knows ;-)

... Directly after a soft reset, my phone is able to dial up and connect to the 3G network (which is HSDPA and displays the 3G icon on my phone). I disconnect from the 3G network and wait 30 minutes or so. After waiting this period, I am unable to reconnect to the 3G network manually or through an application. That is, no connecting bubble pops up - nothing happens. Within that 30 minutes I am able to connect as many times as I wish. ...

Just as many people did before I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this project very, very much! It's great to have my device now. It's changed from slow (original T-mobile rom), to fast (AKU 3.3) and now it even runs WM6. WOW!!!!!!

Tried most messenger chat programs - WLM, Agile, IM+ and Octro.

I did experience lots of freezing and need to sometimes soft-reset when it does not come back. Anyone had this? Quite fraustrating. Worst is WLM.
Mobile messenger on WM5 runs smooth comparitively.

Appreciate if any1 can shed more light on why this happens.

The optional Applications Package for WMXL v0.20 includes Pocket MSN as a stand alone install.

Ok.. not sure how I really fixed this issue: but here goes.
After upgrading, I could not get my 8525 to sync over USB.
I checked / unchecked the "Synchronize all PC's using...", hard booted, soft booted.
When I got to work, same issues on work laptop.
I did get my laptop IR port to sync with my 8525 after screwing with my laptop bios.

Over IR, I uploaded all the "add-on" listed on the Wiki : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=XDA_Live_Extras

Once my keyboard was fixed, I decided to try to use the USB again.. and it worked. Not 100% sure why it started to work, but it did..
Best advice, check/uncheck your connection settings. Hard / Soft boot, and download the Extras to see if that helps ya out..

For the keyboard layout, I tryed to set the reg values:
HKCU\Keyboard layout\Preload\(default) to e0010410
HKCU\Keyboard layout\Preload\1\(default) to e0010410
HKLM\Software\OEM\Qwerty\Layout to 0x20410

and the keyboard continue to not work correctly...

For the spell check...
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Spell Check\Main_dict to \windows\mssp2_it.lex
and I've copied this file (from blue angel sw)
and the spell check want run...

What I can do?

I tried looking in the registry for something that maybe set to 0 that should be set to 1 but couldn't find anything addressing the Windows Live and email.

Anyone able to set their sync schedule to as items arrive?

I agree the builin relplayer was nice since CV played directly without the need to download/save then play the CV file. But CV is dead right now for the PDA so it doenst seem to be a big deal. I have the CAB for RealPlayer if you want it though.

The really weird part is I had that problem also, just hit "as items arrive" and hit done and then let it do its thing, it will push your mail to you. It has worked for me, the only problem I have had is I must leave the live mail option on today screen because it only notifies you of new mail with a meaage display on the screen occasionally. Very weird. I have stopped using mai2web until they update to exchange 2007 so that I can get pushed HTML mail thru Hotmail. Currently my gmail and comcast account are being redirected thru Hotmail. Working great!

Apparently I have the same effect as a previous poster had under Vista - but I am using XP. I searched the 55+ pages of this thread and the whole forum for my specific scenario, but didnt find anything :

- Windows XP Professional SP2
- Activesync 4.5, wceusbsh.sys 4.5.5086.0
- unlocked HTC TyTN
- WM_XDA_Live_v0.10.exe
- tried "USB to PC" setting enabled and disabled

The update wizard starts as expected and I click through various screens until I have to press YES on the device.
The "HERM200 IPL-SSPL by Des" is started on the device and Activesync is closed.
The window says "Verifying the information on your Hermes.." for maybe 20 seconds.
Then ERROR [260]: UPDATE ERROR" pops up, the device remains in IPL.

The device can be resetted to its previous state without problems, so nothing seems to have been written/flashed yet.

I noticed that as soon as the IPL appears, the "HTC USB Sync" in Device Manager goes to Yellow Mode ("Reinstall the drivers for this device. (Code 18)").
Might be intended though, because Unplug-Reset-Connect of the device "repairs" the driver....

Edit for those with same problem :

Upgrade works now.
I uninstalled Activesync 4.5 and manually removed C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\wceusbsh.sys and all related OEM*.INF files in C:\WINDOWS\INF.
Then I installed Activesync 4.2 and verified that the installed wceusbsh.sys is version 4.0.4232.0.
Now when IPL started the device vanished from Device Manager (as expected) instead of going into error.

After the upgrade I will (have to) go to Activesync 4.5 again.

VC 1.5 does not work in WM6. You'll have to use 1.6 and the fix.

In regards to putting Realplayer in - PLEASE DON'T! I can't stand that app, I'm sure anyone who needs it (i.e. Cinglar customers) can apply it themselves!

I have a problem, i have tried to flash the rom of my HTC TYTN.
But during the proces my laptop shut down, so as you can understand i can't start the phone anymore, but it stays in the tricolour screen.

just updated and this is a HUGE speed boost on my 8525. A few questions though, does anyone know where i can get the video call cab or the name of it in the ext_rom to see if i have it saved on my pc, also i updated and as soon as i plugged my usb cable in it tried to install some RSID(cant remember exactly what it was) drivers and i read a solution to take out the entries in the registry on my pc but now it tries to install windows mobile drivers and once it finishes i get the yellow exclamation mark and a failed to install message so now im unable to sync and my 8525 doest detect it like it did before. does anyone have a fix for this? also im running the latest ActiveSync 4.5

It's is not that hard, I've been working on it with the Vanilla version released by romcooker and all you need is to get added a working WM5 dialpad and that MT_PC_Hermes_PTT_REG_070129 cab added to the default.hv (registry hive file) found around the forum.

For the dialpad skin I used the gray one found in the Hermes wiki.

Was tested and worked from a fresh flash, I haven't released the ROM because I had other silly problems which I now know how to solve so it won't take long I could make it public. But seems like the new WMXL v2 will hit the forum before! :)

And, every time I sync manually it states, I am currently roaming and additional charges may apply. Needless to say, I am not roaming. I am in a 3G area at all times.

protocol version: 32.66.7020.10H

I have checked all regional settings and am in the correct time zone etc.

So I flashed my cingular 8525 and everything is working perfectly except for one issue. Right now I have my mail setup to receive email from an exchange server. I have Yahoo setup using Yahoo Go v1 and I have MSN Live receiving my hotmail. I can download and open all my emails just fine, but I cannot reply or send a new email. Anytime I press reply or new, instead of the mail window popping up, it's gives me a blank white screen and gives me OK in the upper right, send/menu at the bottom. Nothing in the middle. If I press OK or Send nothing happens.

To get out of this I have to either soft reset or press the start button and go into memory and kill outlook.

Any suggestions?

i might be being really slow but im stuck flashing this device. Ive run through the steps and my device goes into the rainbow screen it mentions spl-1.09.ds but then my pc loses connection to it (as activesyn does) and then the flash program says it cant continue... What am i missing? sorry!

Install each additional mail protocol one at a time and test before installing the next one. I seem to remember reading about problems with Yahoo Go and WM6...

Anytime I press reply or new, instead of the mail window popping up, it's gives me a blank white screen and gives me OK in the upper right, send/menu at the bottom. Nothing in the middle. If I press OK or Send nothing happens.

To get out of this I have to either soft reset or press the start button and go into memory and kill outlook.

Any suggestions?

You cannot compare SmartPhone Edition of Window Mobile with Pocket PC Edition.

For the 5 millionth time, Vanilla was a true WM6 Rom.

Just another quick question about v.20 (not sure where to post these questions).. Now that the Base ROM is true WM6 can we expect to see the rest of WM6 that was absent from v.10 such as the new calendar or has this only been updated in SP edition?

Oh no....Link to download says that file has been deleated by uploader. Any chance that the file will return. I appreiciate the time people take to make a clean ROM/OS. Such a good philosophy.

i might be being really slow but im stuck flashing this device. Ive run through the steps and my device goes into the rainbow screen it mentions spl-1.09.ds but then my pc loses connection to it (as activesyn does) and then the flash program says it cant continue... What am i missing? sorry!

Are you using Vista? If so, this updater is not compatible and you need to use Win XP. The symptoms you describe are typical in Vista...

I'm jut really curious to see v0.2 with the new rom base.
