I have been able to get gmail working fine. I let the device set it up, and it is working fine, HTML mail and all!

when i try to reply a mail from outlook mobile (a gmail account) it opens a new blank window with 2 buttons (send, menu) but i cannot see the to, subject, mail body.and i cannot close that window.
i want to mention that i have installed yahoo go and the same happens there too. I will try to uninstall the y-go an see what happens. I didnt tried connecting to gmail before i installed y-go.

Is anyone else running into issues with BandSwitch messing up the data connection? Yesterday I was having issues with it yesterday so I have resorted to switching it to EDGE via the band selection in the OS, but find that is a pain to switch between EDGE and HSDPA.

I'm still having hard keyboard problems i'm afraid. After installing the 8525 keyboard fix, I get the following:

Alt Q = ~
Alt W = !
Alt E = @
Alt A = ;
Alt S = -
Alt D = _
Alt F = ?
Alt C = :

All the other key combo's are correct, however, when I change the QWERTY reg key under hklm\software\oem to 20409, everything works except the below strange combo's.

Alt and Z = File Explorer
Alt and X = IE

I wouldn't mind so much, but alt Z I use quite alot for apostrophe's!

I just wanted to thank you for only changing the welcomehead, addin the devicebeta..and also fixing the splash.nb.

Its much easier to adjust the windows welcome screen and devicebeta, if a person what's to, rather than try to fix a modified boot splash, atleast I think so.

the windows default theme wallpaper on today screen in the upper part has the same color as the selected item background so it is kind hard to see if u have selected something which does not have a text (eg icons on spb pocket plus)

Make sure that all of the today plugins or any program you leave running for a length of time is installed into the device memory, including the themes or icon files for those programs. It seemed to clear up all of my freezes.

If anyone remembers I had Internet problems with XDA Live on day one release. I had no time to look at it so I went back to CIngy 2.06 for a few days. Today I went back to XDA Live and played with it for a while. I was doing well for about 30 min, then again no internet, not Wifi, even though it would connect and also no GPRS. Upon further troubleshoot, I found that Internet Sharing would work on my laptop so I tried opera mobile and that worked, only if I was previously connected to the GPRS connection. So I have 2 problems: 1. Internet will not autoconnect anymore. 2. PIE wont work at all even I had forced a connection some other way.. I am looking through the registry now. Also I have deleted the GPRS connections and re-added them. Also the with or without proxy connection do the same.

We're working to change the OS Version from 5.2.XXX to 5.1.XXX as apparently that has allowed Universal WM6 users to install Blackberry Connect.

Patience if we can get it changed then the fix will be easy!!!

I did notice this in his sig: SPV M3100 (Hermes)

I thought that the Keyboard issue was only with 8525. I would recommend looking in the your operator ext_rom for a cab file with something like "Shoe_String" in the name if you are having keyboard mapping issues with anything other than an 8525.

Only reply if you are using settings that worked in WM5. Please no more questions asking for MMS settings. You should know where to get them if you know enough to flash this Rom.

For what it's worth, I know MMS works, I have tested it myself using Cingular (Orange) without proxy settings.

If you don't know that then you really need to do a lot more reading before you flash anything.

Hint (the CAB files are meant for your device not your computer)...

I just tested with my gMail Account and it works as expected.

I trust you are aware of the whole gMail issue in that once an item is marked as downloaded via POP then it will dissapear from your inbox?

This means if you are popping gMail from a PC and your phone anything you d/l on PC will never show up on the phone and once you've read something on the phone it won't show up either on the phone or at your PC.

Look in your gMail Account setting and set Pop flag to download everything in your inbox (right now there should be a time stamp there).

I get around this my forwarding all of my gMail to an IMAP account, works so much better.

There is a fix for that issue! It took me a while to find out, but it works perfectly.

In the gmail account settings of outlook mobile, add "recent:" in front of your username, Eg. "recent:kyphur"

Now messages downloaded on your PC wil still show up on your phone and vice versa. :)

Kyphur if he is saying he used to have increments of 1% it would be cool to see if you could find out how he got that, and put it in XDA Live! Seems like lots of people have asked for it.

Before I lay my little head (and big budda belly) down to sleep tonight, I will review this thread and complete the lists of Known & Fixed Issues. I will also try to compile a list of "Work Arounds" such as the gMail "Recent:" username prefix but I think most of these will be fixed issues that have always existed not really fixing WM6 specific issues.

I am a little behind on the v0.20 Beta but should have it ready this weekend. I think I'll keep it to a small group for a few days so we can hopefully find most of the major issues that remain. I want to get it into everyone's hands sometime next week.

Once WMXL v0.20 is publicly released, I will close the WMXL v0.10 threads as we should focus on the newest version.

Understood. I don't know how you had that detailed battery meter reading, I thought all Hermes, whatever their carrier label, went in 10% jumps. Those of us with the Cingi 8525 have always had to put up with that.

Maybe Kyphur or someone more technically qualified than I will be interested in looking into this with you, and maybe putting it into the XDA Live ROM, if possible.

It also depends on how much interest there is in having that feature. Kyphur has a lot on his hands as it is.

Guys, a warning for those that use GoodLink software and want to upgrade to WM6! GoodLink www.good.com WILL NOT WORK WITH WM6!

UPDATE: For those that want to upgrade to WM6 and need to run GoodLink YOU MUST FIRST DO A GoodLink Backup from the Good Options on WM5!!, do it on the memory card and after you upgrade to WM6 you will find a file on the root of the card to restore GoodLink, what i do is connect to my wifi at home first then i do the update and IT WORKS I now have WM6 and GoodLink Good Mobile Messaging v4.9.2.30_EN on my 8525 :D

I am suddenly having a bizarre issue that I have not seen anyone else post, I am assuming some type of registry fix will take care of this. I installed opera and when I click on a link in any email, rather than take me to PIE it attempts to take me to Opera, because opera launcher attempts to launch but fails. I thought perhaps I had caused opera to become the default internet browser, but have checked and that is not the case. Anyone else having this problem and anyone know how to fix? Thanks in advance.

I can not find anything in the registry strange, but after deleting and doign the Cingular connections over, the device will auto connect for Pocketweather and connect for Opera when first opening a webpage. PIE is still totally dead both GPRS and Wifi.

Also I havent tried actually wathcing CV yet but I can get to my custom CV webpage as I used too, but I can not get MediaNet homepage to open.

I don't use MediaNET because apparently you have to be setup to use Cingular's proxy servers to access it and I don't like to use Proxies.

Firstly thanks for this great ROM, I am really enjoying playing with it. My issue is that I have been using the version of Excel Mobile to edit spreadsheets that are saved in My Documents, and every now and again after editing a file when I click OK it says it can't find the file and so doesn't save the changes. Has anyone else had this problem? I hope it's something simple as Excel is the only program I use daily (I use it for my markbook/ register).

I'm using XDA Live since yesterday. My GPRS monitor shows I have downloaded 22MB today over UMTS. I only have PIE + PiePlus installed. I have configured my GPRS connection myself. Also browsing network shares over WiFi worked just fine.
So I can't report any internet/connectivity problems.

I have successfully installed necessary stuff to get Video Calls working.
I will try to find out which REG needs to get applied as I don't like the other customisations that the HTC cab does aside making Video work.

The only problem I have with XDA Live is that SPB Pocket Plus doesn't soft reset. Today I upgraded SPB to latest version but that didn't help. Soft reset results in screen going black, device then needs stylus-reset.

I have this problem on Cingular. Otherwise, very sweet OS. Extremely fast. One thing I noticed - there is virtually no lag when I typre. This was always an issue for me on preveious Roms.

@Mix about the lockups, I don't use any today plugins at all, and hadn't installed really anything except resco explorer and registry much the first night, I dunno..just have to see, I did have the same problem with WM5 early on at times, but I haven't installed any of the old ext rom, so theres no relation to ext rom.

@Kyphur, I had found these gmail settings so I could set it to receive the whole mail body, since "999 kb" isn't listed like the old WM5 fix
In the user name field I typed "recent:myusername"
In the incoming and outgoing server fields I had "pop.gmail.com" and "smtp.gmail.com", I had to change them to "pop.googlemail.com" and "smtp.googlemail.com"

But I kept getting copies of mail I sent in my inbox, so I just set it to original settings and 50kb of body, not sure if usin the "googlemail.com" was causin that or not, but no its not really an issue with like the rom, its just how WM6 differs from WM5, all would be the same if there was a 999kb setting for mail body.

I noticed someone speak of a task manager I found task manager 2.7 (freeware) its a very good app I think, here is a link http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=1612 Im pretty sure dotfred the creator is a member here too, and his app is already likely listed on the forum.

I don't use bluetooth or wifi, so I stopped the 3 bluetooth services, and the wifi service, and set them all to manual instead of automatic, it seems to maybe have sped things up a tad, or could be my imagination. I also applied a few of the font cache, and other tweaks supposed to help performance on wm5 with sktools, and it has either helped, or did nothing at all, Im really not sure, but I haven't ran into any more low mem warnings yet today.

Thanks for trying to help me out kyphur, but I had the South African 1.35 ROM before this, which was Tytn branded and didn't have this problem at all.

I just find it strange that alt and z would open file explorer and alt and x would open internet explorer, i've trawled through all the pics of these devices and can't find one that has a IE and file explorer symbol on those keys.

Not sure if anyone else with a M3100 that has flashed WMXL .10 has tested this out?

Try opera mobile or tether to be sure. My PIE would not connect but it was a reg entry that was telling PIE to no autconnect.

just a little issue . .
Sorry if its been resolved yet. .
But, I use Mail2web.com's exchange e-mail account for a lot of text messaging and so forth, and with the exact same settings on my 8125, i could send an e-mail to my mail2web.com account and in under 1 min would get it on my 8125.
Now, with the XDA live version on my 8525, it is very inconsistent. Sometimes it will show up in 1 minute, sometimes it won't even show up at all until like 5 minutes later BUT it will say that it was recieved 4 minutews ago!?!?!
(meaning, i'll send an e-mail from hotmail.com to my mail2web.com e-mail at say 5:20. Well, at 5:25 - 5:30 I'll get an notification saying u have an unread e-mail message. If i open outlook and look at the time it was recieved it will say 5:21 or 5:22, but in reality it hasn't gotten there till 5:27)
This is a BIG thing to me so that is why i am posting details. Don't know if its WM6 or if its mail2web.com , but i've never had these problems until i went to WM6. So I'm guessing its WM6. Anyway let me know if i can do any tests or anything to help solve the problem, and if its just me that is experiancing this.

I happened to notice that I was running ActiveSync 4.0 on my laptop (old, yes, I'm a Linux guy, not a Windows guy), and I knew there was a 4.2 out there, so I upgraded, and everything went very smoothly after that. Excellent work on the WM6, friend!

I don't use goodlink, and after installing that apps it is asking me for a pin? I don't have any pin.
I use mobile exchange server for Mail2web.com push e-mail.
(Edit. I did some reading, and it seems like you have to pay for this goodlink. I'm just using it for text messaging and mail2web.com is probably the best push e-mail system i can find for free. Any other ideas for my odd problem?)

I woke up this morning to my phone being completely drained, I didn't have it on charge, but it was well full (about 70%) the night before, and all would normally be OK, and I don't have push mail active....

It may be a problem...

I'm also experiencing this problem. Last night battery was 60%... this morning it was warning me it was critical. Battery has never been awesome with the Hermes but is now definitely worse. I'm running 1.34 radio which is doubly weird since everyone claims it is better on battery too.

Another, possibly related, problem I'm having is data sessions being irregular. I've connected using GPRS (not much) and UMTS (more often) but if my phone has been on for any significant period of time it just fails to connect. It doesn't even try and fail, it just never tries. It's like the phone doesn't detect a data network being available, but it's clearly indicating the little 3G icon showing the data is there.

Anyone else having this problem?

just to let you guys know. I found out what the problem was!!! It wasn't XDA live's fault at all!!!
For some odd reason, today Mail2web changed a few settings to block spam and so forth coming into my mail2web account. And oddly enough, almost EVERY text message from my little sister, brother, GF and so forth was thrown into SPAM folder!?!?! So, I set it to disable spam filtering and now everything is working perfectly fine!

It sounds to me like you're tryin to use an old WM5 backup...it won't work, and if you created the backup on WM6 you would see that spb gives errors when its finished on a few .db files, so there are some incompatibility issues on the databases it appears.

That's how I restored my contact list... by syncing via Activesync. Works without any problems with AS 4.5.

I'm also experiencing this problem. Last night battery was 60%... this morning it was warning me it was critical. Battery has never been awesome with the Hermes but is now definitely worse. I'm running 1.34 radio which is doubly weird since everyone claims it is better on battery too.

Another, possibly related, problem I'm having is data sessions being irregular. I've connected using GPRS (not much) and UMTS (more often) but if my phone has been on for any significant period of time it just fails to connect. It doesn't even try and fail, it just never tries. It's like the phone doesn't detect a data network being available, but it's clearly indicating the little 3G icon showing the data is there.

Anyone else having this problem?

Try looking in 'Beam' within connections and disable the accept incoming beams option. Boosts my battery life by well over a day. Obviously enable it if you wanna receive files by IR or BT.

Nevermind, I got it fixed. :D It was happening because I did not have the ActiveSync installed. After installing the latest version of AS, the program ran smoothly. However, I'm currently without luck of continuing the installation process because my 8525's battery is lower than 50%!!! :(

I guess I'll have to wait til tomorrow... ... ...

At work now, but at home I have AKU3.3, if any of kichen ROM apps will work I will dump whole Windows directory including the file, but I have never dumped/cooked ROMs before.

It would be nice to check ddraw.dll as well. And wavedev.dll. Even on AKU3.3 Coreplayer does strange skips when starting benchmark with audio enabled :confused:
And bta2dp.dll for those interested in stereo bluetooth (this is tricky as the phone needs to recompress audio on the fly to lower the bitrate).

Problem1:

I have found that in XDA Live 0.10 if you o to settings/task manager and activate the X button, the Calendar and Messaging application behave strange when closing them by the X button. It seems the device becomes very slow, and the Messaging does not start anymore. A reset solves the problem.

If I disable the save button everythin works ok.

Problem2:

In outlook mobile, if i click Send/receive, nothing happens... althouh some day ago it worked. If I click Stop send/receive it sais "Disconnecting..." and it waits like this forever... until a reset. It doesn't even try to dial a connection, as it used to. Internet Explorer if given an addres will open the connection and navigate to it. So 3G works ok.

This is wat I found so far.

over all I think its a great ROM and thanks to everyone who built it and helps troubleshoot things...now on to a few issue...

1)I notice when I pull out the keyboard and hit the power button to bring the phone back up that its a little slower on my 8525 then the Cingular 2.06 ROM.... when I click the power button it takes an extra 2 seconds for the device to fully screen refresh to use it (not a big deal, but an issue non the less)

2) I am kind of a new so don't kill me.... but the sounds for when I push in the wheel and hit the start button are gone how do I get them back (and no I am not talking about screen clicks).....

3) the connection icons are extremely weird...there have been times when I have had U icon right next to 3G strange....

4) when I turn off the radio from the comm manager and then turn it back on from the comm manager it doesn't come back....unless I reset...

thats all I have for right now.... ohh 1 more thing..... why for the love of GOD even on WM6 has MS not included something where I can dial a number in a calendar invite !!!!!!!!!!! WHY...... this was the best feature I used to use on my BB....

I no longer get a "delete" option in the menu when I'm in the email Inbox. In order to delete an email I have to open it up to get the delete option to show up in the menu.

The first time that I flashed XDA Live I could not access the net over wifi. I reflashed and it worked. Now it doesn't work anymore. And also I will have screwy icons having 3G and E and U and 3G together.

These are small things that together we can help make one great OS.

You may be not waiting long enough. After upgrading the ROM I am having to wait as much as 7 seconds for the screen to turn back on after a long time in standby (for example, first thing in the morning). Good luck.

Now I am experiencing the same problem.
I think somewhere i was reading, if you have a today plugin on memory card, it will cause the freezing...i had the weather panel 2.5 on memory card before and change it to main memory...but still having couples times of frozen...

Is AS 4.5 a requirement of the install? I substituted AS 4.5 for a connection to Mobile Device Center o I guess this is the problem.

I thought that WM6 was supposed to have tight Vista integration though?

I've had the upgrade on for a few days, and I've noticed if I send an SMS that is less than 160 chars (1 SMS) all is OK, but if I send 160+chars (2+SMS) I don't get a notification that it has been sent - is anyone else finding this??

- Voicemail notification arrives as a _@ sign entitled text message - i.e. the symbol does not appear in the top status bar of the phone (hope this makes sense)

- when in email (active sync with exchange 2007) is open - the menu has no forward option - you have to close the message and forward from there.

This probably has more to do with your network than the ROM (or a combination). Mine is working fine for example; but I do remember when I first got a Wizard this is what it did on my home network, but when I roamed it worked properly. Quite obviously nothing the carrier did made a difference, I just had to get used to it. Sorry as this isn't much help!

Maybe it's got to do with the apps you installed.

Before I used to finding it hard to dial a number from the touchscreen, while now I slightly press and it comes nicely. A real + for me!

ace_ddi.dll is ATI driver, it's newer in AKU3.3 maybe that's what fixed video playback problems we had with earlier ROMs and we still have with XDA v0.10

I've been searching through this thread and the other one related to this ROM. I can't seem to get button 5 to be assigned to the voice dialer installed in this .CAB ba_wm5_voice_dialer_2.cab. Does anyone know a work around for this?

If you think you have solution for it, why not simply help out instead reply with an unvalue comment??

as i found only 2 other posts in this thread about this i will re post:
when u go in landscape mode the cleartype is not working, even after registry editing. I think this is not a xda live issue but a wm6 rom in general.

It could be that one of the programs you installed is not completely compatible with WM06. I had two freezes but after a soft reset noticed that my device was losing a meg an hour of memory and traced it down to a specific program with a memory leak (wisbar). Watch what you have loaded, keep a log of your free memory... you can usually find it. If not, hard reset and load each program for a day or two and see when the problem returns. Not that either of you are complaining but this *is* a beta rom, there can be problems and a new version of the rom is coming out shortly.

Now I am experiencing the same problem.
I think somewhere i was reading, if you have a today plugin on memory card, it will cause the freezing...i had the weather panel 2.5 on memory card before and change it to main memory...but still having couples times of frozen...

I have no problem with cleartype in landscape. Enable cleartype under settings/system/screen Tyy using HTweakC (included with XDA Live) or Tweaks2k to enable cleartype in landscape then save the settings and soft reset using the power button, not the pin hole.

Do a soft reset after install and everything will be copesetic:D

If you read the original post, the user did not state that they had applied the cab fix, just that they had a problem.

There are many dopod users in this forum, I don't think all are having this problem. You could hard reset, install the cab fix again, soft reset using the power button and see if that fixes it. You can also you the search tool and search the thread for other dopod users:

has anyone else noticed the battery draining. before this ROM the battery life was never very good, but since upgrading to the Vanilla now the v.10 it has gotten even worse. at work i get a strong 3G signal and after about 3 hours i am down to 50 percent. and thats with me not really using the phone. just checking to see if this is a problem overall with this ROM or if i shoud just buy new battery.

My battery lasts much longer than with the original rom from T-Mobile.

I'm very grateful for your work here, can't thank you and this community enough. Been playing around with your rom, its fantastic. I think I can help with the smartdial issue. Looking through the original ext-rom, there is a cab for smartdialer (PT_STK_UIPPC.CAB) (http://www.zombienexus.net/portal/uploads/wm6_smartdialer_for_hermes.zip) so I installed it along with a zphone dialpad skin for hermes (http://www.zombienexus.net/portal/GL_SubDirectory.asp?SEC=3&CatID=85) and voila - my phone is smartdial enabled!

There is one drawback - the phone security screen now has a white background, grey buttons and a pink 'enter' button. (Actually i'm not sure if this is because i installed another cab called 'MT_PC_Hermes_DopodAsia_REG_060612.CAB' but unlikely)

Yes, I'm having this issue too, but there is no fix for it yet as far as I can tell. Have also searched forum to no avail.

Run the MT_PC_Hermes_PTT_REG_070129.CAB It gets the right Icons for Cingular (G/E/3G)

Hi all,

first of all many thanks to the valuable help you all give to the community.

I have successfully upgraded my Dopod 838Pro to XDA Live 0.10 and it was running happily.

I then unlocked the Extended_ROM and tried to install an application (PocketAlarm) into it. The installation crashed at about 90%, the USB connection then dropped (as if the PPC died).

I then reset the machine and it keeps hanging at the HTC logo (after the numbers on the bottom left disappear).

I can boot into the bootloader (RGB bands), but in either case I cannot re-upgrade to XDA Live (or to any other RUU for that matter).

Do I have a brick? Or is there a remedy?

Have you tried a hard reset? If the problem was during an installation of an application, hard reset should fix your problem.

I think it's trying to launch the app (PocketTravelAlarm) and maybe it's incompatible. Is there a way to disable the "autorun" applications?

I have ba_wm5_voice_dialer_2.cab installed and performed the registry edit indicated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1150943&postcount=164 to map it to my bluetooh headset. Does yours automatically work with the BT headset? i.e when I press the button on my headset does it prompt for a voice command? If not, is there a registry edit for this? Thanks again.

Edit: NVM I read your signature and noticed that its Cyberon VoiceDialer, not the VoiceCommander....or maybe it is and your labled it wrong lol I haven't installed your .cab yet.

I named it wrong, it is only the dialer, but you can make your own voice tags for apps to make it full functioning commander. My Cab does have BT fixed already and the Button 5/hold mapped to the vdialer.

Hey chrisvor! Yeah, if you can get into the bootloader, you can still flash it. Your phone isn't a brick, so no worries. Have you checked out the Wiki?

I tried with the "HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlock - v3" and I get an "Error 262 - Update Error" screen as soon as the 0% upgrade image screen appears on the PPC.

WMXL v0.20 build list is being finalized. All selected Beta Testers will me notified wih he next 24 hours. DO NOT PM Asking to be part of the Beta I have already compiled my list (No I have not yet notified everyone on that list).

ace_ddi.dll is ATI driver, it's newer in AKU3.3 maybe that's what fixed video playback problems we had with earlier ROMs and we still have with XDA v0.10
