Very strange, I'll turn it off... immediately turns back on, sometimes it will wait a few minutes.. sometimes a few hours, but it always turns on.. any ideas?
Others have reported similar (although I haven't seen it on mine). One suggestion I heard was to turn off the "Automatic change time zone and clock" in Start -> Settings -> Phone -> Time Zones
Not sure if this works or not...

Not sure if this works or not...
I had that problem and fixed using this 3 steps.
1) Turn off "Automatic change time zone..."
2) Disable de autolock feature settings > lock > uncheck " Prompt me if device used for..."
3) Delete any dangling notification that says "turning on phone" and no name notifications. (Use Sktools or Memmaid to remove the notification)
I did that 3 steps in that order, without removing any app.
Hope it helps

I dont know if this has anything to do with my problem with it powering on constantly, but now my SD card is corrupted! By the way with the problem with it turning on, all of those settings were already disabled. STILL have that problem. I think I might go back to Faria 3.3

Hi,
I have encountered one problem with the MMS drafts in two MB roms:
the new last rom with 6MB of pool(donwloaded yesterday) and the previous rom which I has downloaded two week ago.
The problem is:
if I create a new mms and after I close it, it go in drafts box but is impossible to edit it. Is possible to move it in another folder, for ex. in inbox or in sent items, but is impossible to edit it :(
Only the mms suffer of that problem.
Anyone have a patch or a solution?
Thanks in advance!
Best Regards

I just saw this same behavior for the first time yesterday (I normally just create and send, but yesterday needed to save it to drafts, then when I came back to it I couldn't edit it). I haven't seen anyone else mention this before now.

Can somebody help me please, I installed this ROM on a Cingular 8125 and for some reason whenever I receive an email, it sends me a text message, unlike when I was using an original tmobile ROM 2.26, it just prompts me that I have new mail.
Do I need to setup or install something so it wont send me a text message whenever I receive a new mail? I already installed the Tmobile email notification but it didnt do the trick. Thanks so much guys.

Love this ROM so far. I've been using it since it was released, it's great.
I'm on an unlocked G4 8125 Cingular, but I'm having problems with my emails. I'm only getting a notification for 1 at a time, and when I go to my inbox, it's always empty. Most of my emails are not even showing up. It's aggravating, because one of the main reasons I got this phone was email on the fly.
It's strange, because email worked fine for some time. Now I can't get it to work again. anyone else experience this? Any ideas on how to fix it short of re-flashing, or changing ROMS?

Hi, very nice rom. Thanks to the cooker!
I m using it since the release and found it very stable...the only bug i found was the "suddenly turn on screen" that i "fixed" by disabling the backlight auto turn off option under "backlight" options...
So i only have the turn off device option enable (1 minute) when running on battery. But i notice that when the device goes to stand by, WiFi lost connection...when i turn on the screen the wifi starts to get IP again and automatically....while the screen is on wifi works great....
is this behavior normal? i would like to keep WiFi even when the device screen goes off....
thanks!

Wifi turning off with the device is normal. I believe there is a registry fix for it to stay on even when powered off.

Anyone else not getting voicemail notifications when they go from having no service to having service? If I get called and don't have service, the next time I get service I will NOT get the voicemail notification. Is this a radio issue?
Also, I do not get text messages that are sent to me when I am out of service either. I sometimes miss texts that are sent when I am in service. It makes my wife very unhappy when I don't respond!! :)

Question 1:
I have never used BatteryStatus before. If I correctly understand what I have read, the this program can be used to overclock the Wizard.
Is this correct? Also, how do I open BatteryStatus to make changes to it's various settings?
Question 2:
How do I edit the smartskey.ini file (where is it?) to allow me to adjust system volume with the slider while applications like Windows Media Player is open?
Thanks.

Yes, you can use it to overclock (and thats the way to go with WM6 it appears). For MBE, if you haven't already, I suggest downgrading to BatteryStatus .4.200 (don't use 1.04.200 that comes installed as it seems to cause lockups).
To make chagnes you can do this one of two ways... First, on the Today screen click and hold on the little icon on the left of the battery status line. Then click on options in teh dropdown. The other way is to go to Start > Settings > Today > Items then click on BatteryStatus. Now click on Options.
How do I edit the smartskey.ini file (where is it?) to allow me to adjust system volume with the slider while applications like Windows Media Player is open?
Its just a text file. If you have PHM tools installed, use Notepad to edit it. Or TotalCommander has an editor built into it also. Or drag a copy to your PC, edit it, then put it back. Your choice...

You need to give more information about your device and all (is it a G3 or G4, whats the current IPL/SPL, etc etc etc...) But from that error you aren't CID Unlocked. Read the stickies in the Wizard Upgrading forum for doing CID Unlock (for G3) or how to install on CID Locked device with a G4...

Thanks for the quick response. One more question, what changes do I need to make in the file in order for the Volume slider to work? I attached the smartskey.ini file that I found in the Windows directory.

Yeah, that whole "not getting a text when you're out of service" thing really sucks. But I don't think it's the ROM. I tested my theory with a friend of mine one day. She said she sent me a text, but I never got it. So later on we were hanging out, I powered off my phone, and asked her to text me. When I turned my ohone back on, her text came through. So who knows why it happens.

I am having a few issues with this ROM. It's a great ROM, but these are the two things I can't figure out. Hopefully someone has some advice. I've searched these forums, but found no fixes. I'm on Cingular's network with an 8125.
1. Pocket IE will not load pages when connected to WiFi (home network). Opera loads the pages fine.
2. MMS messages not sending. They just sit in the outbox and go nowhere.
And, clicking the message puts it into the drafts folder (moves from outbox to drafts). Clicking it in the drafts folder, however, does not allow me to edit the message. Is there a fix for the message not sending? Is the inability to edit the message normal behavior? I cannot remember from when I was using the standard Cingular ROM that came with the device.
I know it's trying to send the MMS message, because I turned on a sound alert for "Messaging: Sending MMS" in the settings. It goes off a few times over the course of a few minutes, but the message never actually sends.
If anyone has any info about these issues, I'd really, really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi,
My QTek9100 used the dutch version of the WM5, i installed the english version of WM6 from MB. Everything works great on my mobile, thanks for this rom. I have one problem, that is active sync by bluethooth. I used the dutch version of active sync 4.5, but experienced problems, active sync froze on my Qtek 9100. So i installed the english version of it. I am synchronising on 2 computers, at home and at work. At work it recognize the computer with active sync on it, but at home it keeps saying no pc found with active sync on it. Now you all say this an active sync problem, propably true, but i am missing under connections - bluetooth - COM ports - the option of new incomming ports!!! If i have that option it could help me in reconnecting it to my pc by active sync again. Any one who has an idea?
Thanks

First off...great rom!!
Question: before updating to this rom, if I had the phone in stand-by, I could only take it out of stand-by when I hit the power button. Since the update, any and all buttons will take the phone out of stand-by. So, if I have my phone in its carrying case, it will turn on when any button is just slightly touched.
1. Did that even make sense?!
2. Any solution to my problem?
Thanks in advance!

I thank you first for MB. Very nice WM6 edition. My problem comes from initially enabling Window Live. I was at first auto-syncing my hotmail and subsequently turn it off b/c battery was draining too fast. The problem now is I continue to get these sms notification messages about new mail arriving within my hotmail account.
For the life of me I cannot determine how to turn this off. I'm drain my sms monthly quota at this rate. Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried disabling live messenger mobile sms if I'm logged out of the desktop version. No use.
thx

I believe that was one of the little quirks with MBE that I had also. Could turn on Flight mode but not turn it off by clicking on the signal strength pop up.
FWIW: this works fine on the mUn (including NotTooSmart and X-Plore) and Faria WM6 ROMs. Seemed to be an issue with the earlier WM6 ROMs

So I'm just starting to check out the WM6 possibilities for the the wizard and I'm kind of overwelmed by it all. Can someone summarize this thread a little by telling me a few things.
1. How do the new roms (MBE specifically) compare to the current WM5 offerings? Stable? Missing Features? Worthwhile Extra Features?
2. Are there any major problems encountered by many with this rom?
3. Has anybody tried it with a cingular phone?

1. How do the new roms (MBE specifically) compare to the current WM5 offerings? Stable? Missing Features? Worthwhile Extra Features?
WM6 is faster. There are quirks in just about all the various WM6 roms. I would not call MBE a "newer WM6" though. IMO the NotTooSmart Vanilla and XPlore 1.1 are much better than this rom was (this was a very good rom after you applied a bunch of fixes and tweaks to it. Probably the best WM6 I played with before the mUn aRTM variations started coming out). I'm running the Faria Vanilla (but its still beta so not available yet. Supposedly very soon) and its the best IMO, but thats for me. I'll stick with it untiil I work on cooking my own rom (from it).
2. Are there any major problems encountered by many with this rom?
I never got WiFi to work reliably (where others did). There were power issues that have to be tweaked. I also had other issues that I don't remember offhand. All of those things are fixed (and noted in this thread, but you'll have to dig to find it all). As I said (other than WiFi) once this was all tweaked out, it was a VERY good WM6. But NotTooSmart, and XPlore 1.1 work pretty much "out of the box" and are based on a newer build.
Oh, there is also the WMD rom and the WM6 Business Edition one, that I haven't tried that both get good reviews now too (also both based off of mUn aRTM).
3. Has anybody tried it with a cingular phone?
Yes. Lots of people (including myself).

Could I use this with my G4 CID-locked using shelltool?
Yes. But personally I recommend the newer roms like Farias new Clean WM6 (with the kitchen) or XPlore, NotTooSmart, WMD, or WM6 Business Edition. IMO those are all more stable and cleaner than MBE.

Under OS it says version 5.2.660. Shouldn't it be 6.sumthin'.sumthin'?
I may be way off here, I don't know how MS numbers their versions, but it just seems a logical conclusion.
P.S. Thanks to the cook for this ROM! This is the first one I have tried and, well, I don't see any reason to try another! Works great!

Hi guys. Sorry if this is a bit off topic. I'm pretty sure I've got WM6 running, as I successfully flashed the Most Beautiful, but it doesn't look too cosmetically different.
How come it doesn't look like the screenshots I've seen? Is there something I've done wrong? Is the today screen in this shot using a 3rd party plugin, or is it standard WM6?
Sorry, I'm not to 'UP' on WM6 yet...

OH NO!! It looks like you got the dreaded vid.krnl.32 virus. DO NOT MAKE any calls!! Your phone should be shut down for 36 hours while the virus works its way through. After 36 hours this particular virus will be rendered useless. You should be fine as long as you follow this advice. Good luck!

It's a battery meter. You will notice is decrease as your battery life decreases.
