Recently I got an itch to try a WM6 and haven't been 100% happy yet. Just curious to see if you have test driven this one and whether it had your stamp of approval as compared to the other WM6 versions available.

I have tried this and find it as good as the 3.3 Molski released today (also must give credit to Faria for his 3.3 work). In fact alot of this is very similiar.

That's a "standard" pagepool size that comes with the leaked version. No change has been done.

I think it's OK to post a link as long as the ROM is not hosted by this site. Kyphur (a Moderator) cooked his ROM and post the link to rapidshare also.

I really suck at this stuff I guess.. last night I tried the UG WM CB image; everytime it got to 96% it would sit there for a few minutes.. and then come up with a communication error. So I went back to the factory HTC image off their site.

Saw this new version, figured i'd give it a shot.. Got to 95%.. sat there for a bit and I started getting worried.. finally 100%! Rebooted, pretty new Windows Screen.. then the WM5 screen.. and back to WM5, which is now installing the Cingular customization pack

how the hell did that happen? There shouldnt be a trace of cingular on here if the install completed.. Any ideas why I saw the new WM logo and then it loaded the old OS?

How come it doesn't look like the screenshots I've seen? Is there something I've done wrong? Is the today screen in this shot using a 3rd party plugin, or is it standard WM6?

Not previously.. I followed the directions for the buttons 1.05 unlock found on the forums here; the wm6 rom installation completed, now my phone is stuck in a constant reboot.. it shows the new windows screen, then resets.. same result >:(

Yes, you didn't finish the instructions from the Dr P sticky on doing a CID Unlock...

Get your phone turned off (pull the battery if you have to). Plug in your USB cable, then hold the camera button down and then turn on your phone. You should get the "rainbow" screen with USB in the lower left. Now flash a good base ROM on your phone (T-Mobile 2.26 Ship is good and what I used on my Cingular 8125). Once you get that on, then do your Flash of whatever ROM you want to do.

The key is you have to get a good 2.x base on your phone for the IPL/SPL .

in fact, smartskey says 264 but with a " ; " at beginning of the line, which put the omapclock setting as a commentary.
You need to delete the " ; " for omap setting to become effective (and restart smartskey of course)

I think it's set like that because ".biz" uses batterystatus to OC.

Very simple, use WINRAR to extract it! open winrar and then you should see all the parts to the file and you can just extract the file needed.

Sorry I don't know. I assume you must have to stop Voice Command prior to overwriting any files. With Total Commander I just selected the 'copy to clipboard' of the new tnetwlan.dll and pasted it into the \Windows directory. The properties of this file now show it as NOT in ROM. I assume the original one is still there but hidden somehow?
You could always re-cook the ROM and replace the files that way, although I must admit this is a bit beyond me at the moment. There are a few files I would like to replace as well....

One thing I have noticed which is not a big issue but a difference between Farias last AKU 3.3 ROM and this ROM is the Wireless doesn't initially switch on following a soft reset.
You hit the hardware button and then click the wireless button and it doesn't switch on. You need to either hit it again or click on the 'x' next to the Phone signal level and select 'turn wireless on'. Also following a soft reset if you go to settings, connections and select Network Cards the 'Wireless' Tab is not available and only the 'Network Adapters' Tab is there. If you enable wireless by doing what I said above the Wireless tab appears, plus the icon in settings, connections turns from Network Cards to WiFi.

I think in Faria's AKU 3.3 ROM there was a startup shortcut that started something with wireless that made everything available from a soft reset. Can someone look in the \Windows\Startup folder to see what WiFi related shortcuts there are?

I'm running the Underground Edition now and after a few days have things setup pretty well. Is there any compelling reason to go with this one ? I haven't seen any dumps of the OS version from Settings\System\About or Settings\System\Device Information.

Has anyone managed to flash this on a G4 Wizard using the Shelltool method?

It appears to flash, I hard reset reset it, phone boots but is stuck on O2 screen with

IPL 2.21.0001
SPL 2.21.0001
GSM 02.07.10
OS 10.1.0.811

I can restore it by entering boot loader and flashing back O2's v2.21.4.101 ROM

uploaded it onto 4shared it is in 2 parts as it is bigger then 50mb if you extract both files onto your desktop or were ever should be 5 files all together click on wiz.bat once its finshed you will the then have original file with a different name could not be bothered to retype it all

This Rom is based on Faria's Rom....so the tnetwln.dll file is from Faria...

Obviously you had nothing to do with the building of this ROM :rolleyes: , however I could not select WPA2/WPA2-PSK or AES until I replaced the tnetwln.dll from the one extracted from Faria's last AKU 3.3 (V2?) ROM.

Can you verify this?

You have to modify the OS for the extended rom to work.

Well i have never even tried this before, so i got new rom off the newsgroups, followed the instructions in the shelltool folder, and it works brilliant.

And i forgot to turn off the radio before i flashed, seems ok though, not sure if this is a must or not ?

Loads up really fast now from the off.

I just installed this ROM yesterday (well today al 2.40 am :cool: ) And i am amazed by this release.

Its clean, stable, no memory leaks.

Ive been using PDAViet3, and is a great ROM but this one is much more stable. Of course tweak it at your own taste and you will love it !! :)

It works on a G4 Locked device using the Shell Tool Method (which i begin to love).

Hope you install it and enjoy it. It contains MMS and Midlet manager, camera working perfect. Well i love it, i think this is the final WM6 version, really.

This ROM is the same base ROM as the orwell (it ahs the same build number), it has a number of additional programs such as SMS Notifier, Contact backup, System Task Manager, Battery status and more like these all integrated into the ROM. The camera button and application are fixed with the ones present in WM5. Yes it does seem stable but I decided to stick with the clean Orwell ROM.

Clean to flash on G4 Wizard and works with 2.61 radio.

I installed that Wizard_MB_1010811_21911.exe on my TMobile MDA (the file that you uploaded). I keep getting error 302 (update error) when the installer hits %95.

My phone is useless right now =P. Any ideas on how to either restore it to WM5 or put WM6 on it?

I'd really apprecaite it =P (luckily i have a backup HTC Apache i can use until i can figure out how to fix this darn Wizard)

Hey EasyMob,

I installed that Wizard_MB_1010811_21911.exe on my TMobile MDA (the file that you uploaded). I keep getting error 302 (update error) when the installer hits %95.

My phone is useless right now =P. Any ideas on how to either restore it to WM5 or put WM6 on it?

I'd really apprecaite it =P (luckily i have a backup HTC Apache i can use until i can figure out how to fix this darn Wizard)

These Crossbow ROMS probably have no branding, right? I don't mind losing cingular icons, but does that mean that I have to set up my GPRS?

I tried this ROM, it seems good and fast, almost as many bugs as other ROMs.
I found a "new" bug that there isn't in PDAviet: I can't directly run .reg files to modify registry. Do anybody know a solution or the correct association for .reg files?

I've just flashed this ROM last night and I'm fairly happy with it so far. I've just came from Underground and this is a big improvement (atleast for me). Thank you.

- The battery issues I had with Underground appear to be gone. Underground wouldn't last much more than 12 hours of very little usage. With MB, after a full charge last night this morning I woke up with 100% and now I'm foolin around with it a little and its 94% after 7 hours. But its dropping a little faster now. I'll see how it performs with a whole day's worth of usage.

- There is no significant memory leak. It starts out at like 28.2M, run a couple programs and it'll drop to 22.4M, close all of them at its at 27.7M, run SKTool's FreeUp RAM and it gets to 28.0M. That's pretty damn good.

I was very confident in Mr. Biz's ROM skills that I just jumped right in and installed everything back to how I like it. (Shame on me) Because after everything is said and done I'm finding it to be LESS stable than Underground or any M2.2/2.3 I tried. Its very sensitive (reminds me of one of my XP desktops) and hangs all too often and then it'll self-soft-reset on its own. No white screen of death...weird. But its only the beginning and I haven't had even 1 full day testing it yet so I'll see what happens.

Is anyone having any problems with BatteryStatus with CPUScaler, More Indicators, and TaskBar Indicators enabled? Because the only other start up programs running are GSPocketMagic, PPCProfilesTray, VJToggleToday, AEBPlus, and Voice Commander. The others don't seem likely to cause the instability.

Personally I have found this ROM to be slower than the Underground ROM (yes I did change the clock speed back to the default in the ini file). But other than the radio version change and a few apps to fix the missed calls issue its pretty much the same

Which Nk.nbf do I put in the shell folder because it didnt work and how can I pull the Nk.nbf from the .exe file for the Windows Mobile Crossbow Most Beautiful edition? I have never had to do any of this on my G4 Unlocked Wizard.




use the shell tool to install or copy the nk.nb? file in the final folder in the wizard love rom and use the installer to flash

the best way is to use the shell tool works every time

The shell tool is for cid-locked devices. There is an entire thread devoted to the use of that wonderful program located in the G4 section. Many silly questions are answered in that thread,most of them posted by me.

The nk.nbf can be extracted using winrar, most times by just right-clicking the file.

Put the nk.nbf in the same folder as your shell tool so that the program can find it.

Just use WinRAR on the .exe. Should be a self extracting executable and winrar will be able to read it.

I have a problem using my BT201 Headset on the WM6 MBE.
I made the connection, everything looks fine, but if i try to make a call i cant hear anything with my headset. with WM5 Molski or Faria the headset works perfekt! The symbol for headset is displayed in the upper right corner of the dialpad - but i cant hear anything !!!

Are there any solutions???

I actually just upgraded to this ROM in the last hour or so (have been watching it before jumping in, but am in now :) ). What I did was went to the Cingular site and found a faq for configuring internet browsing. Basically had to create a lot of the stuff that wasn't in this ROM. After doing this, I can now browse the net with IE.

You can't follow it exactly as not everything is there, so use it as a guide to create MediaNet and Cingular GPRS as the images and steps has all the info you need.

good: first wm6 rom with mms/midlet manager included. wm5torage, smsdrfix, smartskey and batterystatus included too. removed tray icons from startup.

bad: no start button click sound. no total commander and wm5new menu included. some silly registry changes (scrollbar thickness, huge font cache).

conclusion: we're one step closer to perfect wm6

I had a lot of problems with battery status, I think it was causing lockups and it would not stick to 260mhz, I went back to version 3 of battery status, now the phone seems very stable, no more lockups.

INSTALLED THIS CAB AS ALWAYS, BUT FOR SOME REASON WHEN I TRY GOING TO THE INTERNET ALL I SEE IS THE CODE. OR SETTINGS. I'M WITH CINGULAR AND JUST UPDATED TO THIS ROM TODAY. HAD BEEN USING UNDERGROUND AND THIS CAB WITH NO PROBLEM.

Well m8, the bad points are not so bad , you can instal total commander in 20 seconds, start button click sound oh gosh... i love it quiet !! and scrollbar tickness is great.

Well... as you can see this arent ROM issues, just personal preferences, for me is the PERFECT ROM.

I ended up getting it to work (GPRS), browsing works, email sync works so I guess im ok.. But man.. battery life is like.. ouch!

I have a problem I haven't seen posted yet, at least not when I did a search. I used to get the mobile yahoo site when I would type in www.yahoo.com, but now it goes to the regular yahoo site. I want it to go back to the mobile site without having to type in wap.yahoo.com. I changed my user agent settings and it still goes to the standard yahoo site. Google loads the PDA site, but not yahoo. Any help?

Due to requirements where I work, we are being pressured to install the MS DST patch on all mobile devices. I'm assuming that this isn't necessary with this ROM since its new? (ie: DST patch is already in it). Anyone know for sure?

Lovin this rom so far, only gripe i have is the text size in the phone is perfect but when I receive a text or write a text the font is huge. (not when looking at inbox but when I actually go into the message) Is there anyway I can change the font size to the same as the system font? i do not want to change the system font size, just the font size for the name of the person and body of the message when viewing a text message.

Um...., as time went by more tweaks are become known and therefore, will be integraged into the later cooked ROM. All of the tweaks applied to this ROM are the accumulations of many others. There is nothing to get excited about or the need to put other older ROM down.

Was features did you have enabled on your BatteryStatus 4? CpuScaler? On Wakeup? Set Last Speed? Device Lock? TaskBar Indicator? Tray Icons? More Indicators? I have everything above enabled at the moment.

Also what features do you have enabled on BatteryStatus 3 that proove to be stable?

I love all the extas that BatteryStatus 4 beta 2 and would hate to get rid of it if I didn't have to. So maybe from your responses I can determine if it might be just one misbehaving feature of it. If so then I can disable just that part of it and ask the developer to see if he can look into it.

Anyone not able to save their settings in "Sounds & Notifications"??

No matter what I do its not letting me save and exit. I have to terminate the window. All background programs are closed so no conflict I can find.

I do get an error while changing ring tone though "This ring tone file is corrupted or unavailable. Please choose a different ring tone." But i'm selecting one of the ROM installed rings "Ring-Standard/Vision/Windows Mobile and I haven't overwritten them or anything.

The error you are getting has nothing to do with 4share or the ROM you just downloaded. Your device is CID unlocked.

Works for me just fine. Try to start typing the last name... I believe this uses the 'display as' field.... I also believe it worked with underground as well.

Smurftastic. I seem to remember that you need LokiWiz03A to CID unlock the AKU2 ROMs (is that correct?) ... or is this the part where I need to roll back to a pre-AKU2 ROM? Or, for that matter, is this even an option if I'm CID-locked?

Also, do I have the "Most Beautiful Edition"? I have the version that was uploaded to 4shared on 18 January, but the messages involving the ROM on RapidShare were dated ... two days ago. From what I remember of Crossbow's release schedule, it was released to manufacturing before my contract ended in December, or not too long after, so has the OS changed in that time?

I installed the rom last night, so far so good. Thanks to whoever cooked it, and I think this rom would make Molski proud :D

Only problem I've had so far is a few times my MDA has frozen, at the green windows screen during boot up. As far as I can tell when I use PsShutdownxp it does it, but it's totally random. I guess it could be a problem with WM and not specifically the rom. In any case will report back if I find the reason.

On another note, I've been trying to get a black, not gray, theme but no dice. I've tried looking for tsk file and messing around with the registry to get the theme black, but nothing is working. If someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Are you using BatteryStatus today plugin? If so what options do you have enabled? 2 people have reported their freezing stopped when they stopped using Battery Status 4 and I'm very suspicious that might be why my crashes as well.

Have you tried the registry change that helps battery life? Search for it in the wizard upgrading thread. It has helped my BL immenseley

If you do not want to CID-Unlock you phone, go here. Mine is CID-unlocked, yet this rom kept freezing at 95% when trying to flash to my phone. I used this tool and it put the rom on my phone very easily. I put the shipped 2.25.11 cingular rom on first before I used this tool so I would have a clean base. This tool is not just for G4 devices either as mine is a G3 wizard. Just follow the steps.

All I did was set up the MMS with the settings provided by Cingular on their website...I had to install the MMS program, the same one I found on the page where you can find all the WM6 roms... IE RapidShare

Thanks, I'll try it out as well. The freezing at boot up is quite sporadic; last night I played around with my phone for a good while, and I reset it like 20 times and it froze 1 time. The BS Traylaunch issue was easily resolved by using PHM Traylaunch, but if I can the 2kb PHM Traylaunch usses and the extremely sporadic freezing can go away I won't complain :D

uninstalling and reinstalling won't work, as i'm getting an error when trying to uninstall the german voice command. last time i tried the files were just left on the device :(

deinstallieren klappt nicht, da bekomm ich nur eine fehlermeldung dass das deinstallieren fehlgeschlagen ist und die dateien werden nicht entfernt.
ich probier's mal nochmal.

Still haven't made the switch from underground to mb...I see people saying it's better...and others saying it's not. I'll test myself obviously but, it's not encouraging to hear other saying they flashed to this ROM and after a day or two...flashed back. These aren't noobs either...some guys I've seen in this thread that know what they're doing.

My bluetooth handfree headset works well just after setting it as handfree. But after the phone turn off itself for a while, and I turned it on again, the bluetooth headset icon is not on the right top, and the headset does not work. I have to set it as 'hands free' again to make it work.

Installed this AM and I am pretty happy so far. I do have some stupid questions htough and have searched this thread and on a few other sites and cannot find an answer to these questions

1. Soft key assignment - cannot find the program on the ROM, is it not built in, and if not where can I find it?
2. GPRS back after lost signal - I also seem to be experiencing this problem. I do have the GPRS always on tweak in Reg Wizard activated, but this does not seem to fix it. I read something about wifiinit.lnk in the startup folder and found an app in the windows folder. Should I just put a link to that in the startup folder>

The only things different I've done was to disable a couple features on BatteryStatus:

- Disabled Set on Wakeup
- Disable CpuScaler
- Disable TaskBar Indicator

So far it hasn't crashed at all. Before it would crash doing something simple such as waking up the phone and trying to send a text. Now its very smooth and hasn't crashed at all. I'm going to test further to see if I can narrow it down to just one setting (if possible).

Is anyone having lockup and/or resetting issues with the above options in BatteryStatus disabled? Can someone with a healty non-locking up phone please try enabling all the options in BatteryStatus and see if they develop problems?

Yes, Ikarus' BatteryStatus is great. The best piece of freeware I have on my Wizard.

Thanks guys. The themes are gray still, I wonder what the deal is with getting a glossy black theme. Oh and that white tiger background is awesome, but I couldn't switch my Aya Brea background. She might be a video game character but she's just too hot.

At this point I'm almost certain that the issue lies with batterstatus' Traylauncher. After just setting it to show 2 icons, wifi and bt, it's working fine. I noticed that my Wizard locks up when the clock speed goes below around 84MHz.
After setting the minimum clock speed above that i didn't get any lockups in normal use.

- Switched off keyboard word completion but it still works in certain programs and is enabled again after a soft reset.

- Bluetooth A2DP quality sounds as bad as with WM5 AKU2 roms. Bitpool registry tweaks for WM5 do not work.

Push mail is important to me so I will step back to WM5 asap.

Underground edition was my previous ROM before I run out to this one! I'm preety satisfied specially when talking about stability. It's something I really appreciate in a new version!;)

I'm running the Underground Edition now and after a few days have things setup pretty well. Is there any compelling reason to go with this one ? I haven't seen any dumps of the OS version from Settings\System\About or Settings\System\Device Information.

anyone have battery issues with this rom? i had the underground and the battery charge lasted very long, with the most beautiful edition it was fully charged this morning and i took one 2 minute call and checked e-mail now its 83%. i might go back to underground version

Personally I have found this ROM to be slower than the Underground ROM (yes I did change the clock speed back to the default in the ini file). But other than the radio version change and a few apps to fix the missed calls issue its pretty much the same

Try Mail2web and you should be fine if you don't already!

I got all messages from my Gmail account directly to Mail2web server and then out to my Wizard. :)

I cant get the text messaging to work on this rom. when i click to send a msg, it says "The phone is not ready. Wait 15 seconds and try again." I have a G4 CID Locked and I used teh shell tool to update the rom. I really need txt msging to work as I rely on it a lot. I dont want to have to switch back to WM5 just because of this :( . Is anyone else having this error? someone please help. I have already searched about this all over and I couldnt fint anything for it. Thanks.

Go to Phone, Options, Services, Voice Mail and Text Messages and click 'Get Settings'. Is the correct Text messages service centre number correct for your service provider?

SIM unlocking and CID unlocking are two different things. SIM unlock lets you use any sim card in your phone. CID unlock lets you flash any rom on your phone. u have to CID unlock before you can flash your phone. Since you have a G3, do a search for lockwiz02 which will help you CID unlock your phone or you can use the shell tool in the G4 forum to flash on a CID locked device. Put your phone into bootloader mode (hold the voicedial button on the side when doing a soft reset, goes to the tri color screen) and flash a previous working rom and then go back and try again.

ok I checked everywhere does anyone know where to disable auto locking when the device is being turned on. I am not a noob I have made sure all values in the settings area have been checked and are disabled. I was clicking the executables in windows and I clicke don a keylock exactuable and now it constantly locks regardless what i tell the device

Im not sure if this is it but you can try it. Go to start > Settings > Buttons and click on the lock tab at the bottom (the third tab). Ther you have the options to change the auto lock settings. Hope it helps.

Seems to me that is a carrier issue because I have never seen that on any of the Wm6 Rom forums I watch daily. Since it happened with two different Roms, most likely it isnt the Rom causing this. Possibly a bad SIM card too.


TEXT messaging...I dont use MMS and so i didnt set up. I had the same issue with tthe orwells rom too.

I can recieve txt msgs but not send them. i get the please wait for 15 seconds error.

I found though that if I selected Send from the tap and hold menu on the From field in the message writer, the message sent fine. I never had this problem with Farias last ROM, so I went back to that.

So last week, I installed the MB WM6 Rom whilst I was in Houston (on my home network, T-Mobile) and repeatedly got exactly the same problem (please wait for 15 seconds). I kept the ROM this time though (I could live with the workaround above) and travelled to the UK this weekend. I was suprised to find that I DO NOT get the problem over here - still on T-Mobile, but obviously not the same network.

Thanks Andrew. The workaround helps. Just like you, I was able to send text msgs from the WM5 roms (all versions) but had the issue with the WM6 roms. Thanks to you, I wont have to switch back to a WM5 rom as i really like this rom...lol...muah appreciate the help bro. :D

Are there any patches that need to be installed?

Humm...the workaround to the problem I was having of getting the "wait 15 seconds" error when tryin to send text messages works fine (Thanks to Andrew again for the help). The problem I am having now is the message delivery option. I cant turn it off. If you go to menu > tools > options and click on Text messages, I get the same error again. My questions is, is there somewhere in the registry where I can change this or any other place?

Well if it says sim lock, then that would seem to be the problem. Also from the message asking you to enter an unlock code, I'm pretty sure the phone got SIM locked somehow. I could be wrong. Try using lockwiz to unlock the SIM and try again. Do u have a G3 or a G4?

Actually iam not sure but i think it's G3... what's the difference? I bought mine the same day that IMate launched the K-Jam in Dubai @ Gitex around Sept 2005 if that helps knowing if it's G3 or G4 :D

Cool well i never lived in Dubai i just visited for a week to attend Gitex.

Ok the phone actually got SIM Locked somewhere in the middle as you said n i downgraded and unlocked it using LokiWiz....
Now there's another HUGE Problem... After Installing the WM6 ROM here's what happened...

1) the Loading Windows Splash Screen comes up and the following:
- IPL 1.01
- SPL 1.01
- (No GSM Version showing just a blank line)
- OS 10.1.0.811

2) Gets stuck at the splash screen and just restarts....

NO certainly NOT. Just get to the Bootloader mode and Flash a Shipped ROM. After that Try to flash the WM6 ROM you are trying.
