This is now called Internet Sharing - look into your programs folder, it is there by default. Once you've launched it on your hermes, go to start Menu > Help (at the bottom) and you will find instructions to use it.
I did just that and it works fine (using USB). I am not sure it works fine using bT.

AFAIK this is not related to SPB.. I have Pocket Plus, Diary & Weather installed and mine works as normal.

As I've stated in my previous post, if you have SPB Diary, and your Hermes suddenly hangs before the welcome screen on boot up, the issue is most probably got to do with SPB Diary.

I have gotten it to work successfully, and I've had this hanging issue too. It really depends on the luck of the draw. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. But from my experience, even if it works, it doesn't work very well. Some people say it works great for them. But not for me.

I recently installed xda live v0.20 and it seems to be working fine on my 8525. I did however run into a problem with Skype mobile betta. It installs and runs, however it cannot connect to my wifi or 3g connections even though they are alive and active. Is this a registry setting issue, or a problem with WM6?

Made a 0.21 setup with no additional software installed and it works fine/ Sometimes skype makes a few copies of itself running in the memory and won't be killed trough the memory app, but on WM5 it happened a lot more often, apart of it it works fine trough WiFi

I am having issues the phone goes back to the pin code entry screen on the phone,so no one can call me, I think this has to do with band switching, so now I have set it to gsm only to see if that fixes the problem.

I dont have the memory problem... I have V2 of the rom. I installed only tomtom and navigon.

I remember that tweak programs set these registry values... It speeds up youre device but uses also a lot of exspensive memory ;)

I experienced the same. Have upgraded my TYTN (TMobile MDA Vario II) yesterday (clean install, version 0.21 with acrobat)). After upgrading I installed TomTom 6. The free amount of memory (without memory tweaks) is 19.15MB (and that's the amount after having the device running for 24 hours now)

did anybody use his MDA vario 2 with XDA Live 0.20 as a modem? I connected USB and started Internet Sharing Web; thsi runs well for GSM, but if I switch to 3g (UTMS), the mobile is not recognized the right way as a USB device and therefore no 3G connection.

Any idea?

I am currently using it on 3G writing this message. I experienced some problems (no usb connection), but after soft reset these were gone.

Greetings and thanks for a great forum. Got up this AM, after a Sprite backup, and noticed that 4 apps installed on my memory card weren't recognized by TyTN.

eWallet, Address Book, etc.

I'm running V .2, any thoughts? Had this w/ V .1 a soft reset always cures it, so not such a big problem actually.

Anyone get Slingbox to work with this version?

I assume you mean "Windows Live! Mobile" which actually replaces Pocket MSN (includes connectivity to all of your MSN stuff) so the answer is that it would be redundant.

It thinks the Extended Rom Partition is the Storage Card.

I am running 2.0 and have issues with program automaticallly enacting the data connection. I used htc tweak to set it always on. and find that some times the little indicator woudl be gone, try to call my mail and it just hangs trying to connect. If I make a change in the data settings it will re connect or plugin in usb and unplug. but this is a pain. I also used pgh to find a registry key of always on and changed it to 1 thinking it may help but no avail. any ideas?

I am currently using it on 3G writing this message. I experienced some problems (no usb connection), but after soft reset these were gone.

I did a hard reset and used German Input (Crossbow).cab to get German keyboard etc. I didn't use the cab to set the T-mobile settings, this time I did all settings (MMS, GPRS, etc.) manually.

And Internet sharing (like USB modem) over USB works now for GSM as well as UMTS.

My device (MDA Vario 2 / T-Mobile Germany) works still faster, no further issues.

I'm still looking how to change the keys in SMS from delet to new. ;-)

I had this problem with .10 version, but it may have been due to a cab i ran to try and get video calling working though. No problem with .20 version

I remember reading somewhere in this thread where someone changed reg entries to be able to connect to wi-fi. What i did instead was go to Settings---> Connections ----> Wireless Lan -----> Menu -----> Network Cards ----> Network Adapters: Then under IEEE 802.11 b/g... I found that the IP address was already assigned. I just changed it to "Use Server Assigned..."

This ROM is awesomesauce btw.

Is there any way to convert a WM5 pim.vol to work under WM6?

I was thinking about the lock up issue last night before I saw this post and this pretty much confirms it. I would suggest disabling safe mode in SPB Pocket Plus and every other option you are not using (buttons etc) and make sure you are not using both the HTC Task manager and Pocket Plus to close programs. You should only use one task manager to close programs, whether that be from HTC, SPB or WA2. Also, double check you have the latest version of spb software.

I have SPB Pocket Plus alone with few other program. I did not have any issue for few day untill I start to tweak the setting on SPB Pocket Plus. The 8525 just freeze for the first time. (with version 0.10) Later the phone will freeze on its own... I was hoping the version 0.20 will be better compatible..

I run most of appts on memory card, maybe wll be better off running in phone memory? Or just del the Pocket Plus see if it gets better....

Trying the new WM6 is great experience. Now, I am finding myself working with problem on this device than really using it...:o

This is a known issue with WA2 and the hermes, you can check out the forum at lakeridgesoftware.com. beta 2.8.0.3 seems to be working better.

i think i have found a memory leak in WisBar Advanced 2, or WisBar Advanced Desktop. When i SR my device i had 25.13 or so ram, then after a few screen changes and so forth my ram jumped right down to 23.17 and everytime i turn off the screen and then turn it back on the ram drops another meg or so! Someone please help me out here.
Anyone else noticing the memory leak?

I do alot of testing of CE products, and when we look at things we generally know that test builds are X% complete. How do you feel about the .20 build?

Do you expect now with a more stable build, that updates will come less often?

This was a known fix, but you can use almost any cab located in the ftp site (ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Hermes/PhoneSkins/) as your dialer screen. Make sure you power off reset, not pin hole reset after loading the smart dialer cabs. This one isn't matching my theme very well, but that will change shortly. :)

Why can't I just leave well enough alone?

Running version 2.1 on 8525. Everything running great.

Installed spb pocket plus.....everything still running fine.

Installed cab file which moves date above the clock on the top bar.....everything still running fine.

Went into HTCtweak and set it to remove the comm icon from the bar at the bottom.....did required soft reset.....now the device is hung up on the HTC splash screen!

Finally got it to boot up after removing and replacing the battery. But it was moving at an extremely slow speed.

Removed the Safe Mode component from pocket plus, disabled the pocket plus "x button" feature, seems to be back to normal!

May i suggest several resets and tests between software loads. It is hard to isolate problems if you change things between your tests.

Hey Andrew, Thanks for the detailed message, I may not have your answer but I have two thoughts to try. The first idea is to see that you are running the latest software/beta load of each program you have installed and that it is compatible with WM06. The second, make sure you do not have any of your programs running on your today screen (or any program you leave running) installed to your memory card. I have having multiple problems until I moved most of my programs to the phone memory.

Glad to see I'm not alone - thanks for the suggestions. I have the latest versions I could find of each of the programs I listed. All of them are running from internal memory. From some of the other comments, it sounds like this may be an SPB issue. I am going to try and live without Pocket Plus for a day or two and see if that fixes it.

I've had this issue with both v.1 and v.2 - sometimes I will pickup my phone and hit the power button to turn it on and nothing happens. At this point, my only option is the use the stylus to reset the phone - nothing else will wake it up, even though the green and blue lights continue to blink as if it is receiving a signal. Calling the phone doesn't do anything - the phone doen't ring, although the caller will hear it ring until it goes to voicemail. I've noticed this both on battery and plugged in.


I had the same problem with v0.1 and even on my wm5 once I rembered, my problem was during all the changing around I got too much crap in the root of my storage card, I dropped the junk into folders, problem gone.

Just a question why use this "old" ver of Smart Dial?
I find the default one in WM6 way better than the old one.

interessting point: I installed Batti V2.1 on my MDA Vario 2 with WMXL 0.20.

After a while, I suffered connectivity problems: lost GSM as well as UMTS, reconnected and lost again, finally could not re-connect nor change my number (dual sim card).

I removed Batti and did a soft vreset. Now all is working again well.

Any ideas or similar observations?

I am having lots of fun with WMXL .20!!!

Here are a couple of issues that I have run into (hope I am not duplicating).

1. As mentioned by some other users, sometimes after a soft reset, bootup freezes at the white HTC bootup screen. If I reach the WMXL spalsh all goes fine, but otherwise, if the system freezes before I need to soft reset again until it works.

2. This is of bigger concern; when I try to wake up the phone from standby, it's kind of a toss up - sometimes the phone wakes up with no problem, sometimes the display just stays black until I soft reset. - Any idea about this???

I am running Radio Rom 1.35.11 and WMXL 0.21. I think BL is set to 1.4.

I went through the entire post so far; and as far as I can remember some people had trouble to allow there programms to connect through wifi instead of using UMTS & co. I noticed that this problem is related to Windows Live Mobile Messenger. This f**cking app completely screwed the way other apps access the internet; I fixed it by using again my old friend agile messenger.

My wife is running a 8125 with MBE and i have noticed she is running Voice Command v1.61 & the ppc office apps (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) are of the 2007 variety.

Does anyone have a diff.cab for Voice Command so i can update my v1.60? <-- I have already purchased and installed Voice Command v1.60, i was not asking for Warez (I do not condone Warez either).

Are we going to get the 2007 ppc office apps?

Just wondering as I haven't seen any comments about Skype, I use it in my business and had it working on WM5. I can't get either of the latest versions to work...through wireless LAN or data connect.

It says that there is no wireless connection (though I am on one) and then it says cannot connect to network.

Suggestions? I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and performed soft and hard resets.

I uninstalled Windows Live, reinstalled Skype and now it works...

First Microsoft Voice Command v1.60 is a retail product. Please don't ask for it here we do not condone Warez. Wizard Users are lucky in that it was included in the Wizard WM6 Roms as an OEM Package!

My daughter has my old Wizard (sometimes I miss that phone) so I'll check that out. If they indeed are updated versions then I will look into extracting them for our use. (maybe v0.30).

Fix for Voice Command 1.6 in WMXL.

I packaged these clever peoples work into a simple installer
This works 100% for me.

Instructions:
Install Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 (Duh)
Copy this cab file to your device and tap to install.
Then go to Start > Programs > BT Voice Command Config
and tick enable.
Tap "Save"
Tap "Exit"
Go to bluetooth devices and remove your headset.

Power off your Device (Hold the power button till it asks to shut down)

Restart device.

Re pair your headset.

make sure button 5 is set to Voice Command (Settings > Buttons)

Reset Device.

Can someone tell me if WM6 on the Hermes does one line or a useless full page again? It may seem unimportant but is a huge matter of usability for me. Thanks.

Thanks Kyphur for an awesome release, it's brought my device back to life (not quite literally, but still..)

I'm just wondering if I am the only one who is having problems with Wireless.

It seems that wireless is totally dead, (and was using the vanilla rom, which I put down to it simply being beta and incomplete) with no reason visible. Every time I try to start up wireless, it seems to try and trigger it, but then simply stops and goes back to being disabled... *EDIT: My device is badged as the iMate JasJam*

I have tried poking the various WiFi tools in the tool that is included with the ROM, but to no avail.. any ideas would be great.

That, and there is something odd about the keyboard, specifically the symbol keys. They appear to be mapped to some odd keymappings..

And I'm not getting the U logo for UMTS anymore, using Telstra's "nextG" (3g on 850mhz). I've tried selecting the correct bands, but the original setting of GSM(900 2200)+UMTS(850) has gone..

Again - thanks for the suggestions! I tried removing SPB Pocket Plus this morning, but by the time I went to turn off the ringer to go into a meeting, it had locked up again. I am considering reflashing and starting over without ever installing SPB to see if that fixes it. :(

I discovered the problem with Windows Media and my ringtones not being played by my 8525 after upgrade to WMXL 2.0.1

I had set the cache memory to 4096 from the default setting that was in the OS upgrade. This killed Media Player from working properly. After applying the Memory Patch and HSPDA on .cab file, all is now well. It seems that Windows Media needs more than a 4096 cache memory size to work properly.

Yes it was.

I used to use the ExtROm to instal some program too but I had some of the same issues as running programs from the SD card, so now I actually like the isse with the email useing the extrom as the attactchment drive. It gives me 9.5MB of room for email attatch. At least it isnt a total waste of space.

Have you applied the Memory Tweak patch .cab that is in the files from post #3?

Using my hardware keyboard results in all letters being typed in capitals. I actually have to press shift or CAPS LOCK to get normal letters.

We just found spb as a common thread, I personally had a few lockups before I moved the programs and theme files to main memory. Since that time, none. I am slowly moving programs back, theme files first.

yes its a keyboard issue... there is a CAB fix for it you need... check the Wiki it should be there as an extra.

All is going well so far except I just noticed on my 8525 when I click the camera button I do not get the camera, instead I get task manager . I have not installed any programs and I am almost 100% positive I didnt change any settings.

Blackberry Connect for the 8525 still doesn't work for me. Checked build: 17217.2.3.0 , Blackberry Connect itself shows "No Connection" right below the IMEI listing, I did set up internet using settings:

Still a no-go.

Oh, and I'm using the WMXL_Blackberry build.

Oh and on Cingular's Blackberry Page, It won't allow the registration of the PIN or IMEI saying that the information could not be verified.

Am on 0.20 and have the Orange UK Voicemail Icon problem as with 0.1 - ie I get the system texts appear rather than the spool icon

I can confirm the above problem - Orange sends me a "system" sms message when I get a voicemail, which should activate the spool icon, and then another to deactivate after I've listened to the voicemail. 0.20 tries to display these as normal text messages rather than processing them.

After reset the PDA all the path of files is found, but the file I just transfer is gone from storage card.....

What i get now is the HTC splash screen and then it freezes.

Thanks Kyphur for an awesome release, it's brought my device back to life (not quite literally, but still..)

I'm just wondering if I am the only one who is having problems with Wireless.

It seems that wireless is totally dead, (and was using the vanilla rom, which I put down to it simply being beta and incomplete) with no reason visible. Every time I try to start up wireless, it seems to try and trigger it, but then simply stops and goes back to being disabled... *EDIT: My device is badged as the iMate JasJam*

I have tried poking the various WiFi tools in the tool that is included with the ROM, but to no avail.. any ideas would be great.

Yeah I believe this same thing happened to me between the install of vanilla, and xda live 1.0. But from my understanding, and what was told to me is that since they only upgrade os, there's no way that it could've tampered with the wifi. I find it ironic that you've ran into this problem as well after experimenting with both upgrades! I did run Resco Explorer with the today screen plugin and SPB Weather today screen plugin.
I uninstalled Resco Explorer it and have not had issues again yet.

heres a weird one. Loaded the .20 and has been running great for the last couple days. Went to the cingular store because I needed a new sim card. They activated the new sim card put it in my phone. now when i reboot the phone gets service for 2 minutes or so then looses all connection and cant make calls. Any ideas?

This works 100% for me.

Instructions:
Install Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 (Duh)
Copy this cab file to your device and tap to install.
Then go to Start > Programs > BT Voice Command Config
and tick enable.
Tap "Save"
Tap "Exit"
Go to bluetooth devices and remove your headset.

Power off your Device (Hold the power button till it asks to shut down)

Restart device.

Re pair your headset.

make sure button 5 is set to Voice Command (Settings > Buttons)

Reset Device.

Correct, unfortunatly there is no DUN support (as far as i know) in WM6.....this was the case in AKU3.3 aswell. The widdcomm stack hasnt got DUN either yet sir, do check the thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285419) though as it may have been implemented?!

As far as I understand WM6 does not use dial-up networking. It uses a Personal Adhock Network (PAN) instead. I have not yet connected through it, but as far as I understand, you do not need to use a dial up connection. Rather connect to the PAN service and you are good to go. your GPS may not support this, so I'm not sure if you are SOL or not...

I discovered the problem with Windows Media and my ringtones not being played by my 8525 after upgrade to WMXL 2.0.1

I had set the cache memory to 4096 from the default setting that was in the OS upgrade. This killed Media Player from working properly. After applying the Memory Patch and HSPDA on .cab file, all is now well. It seems that Windows Media needs more than a 4096 cache memory size to work properly.

I am having big trouble with activesync after install of 0.20. At work it stuck forever in "retrieving information..." and at home it canot sync and hang my device. Any suggestion? (with WM5 was fine at both places)

(sometimes it works, but never the first time after a reset, i need to connect/disconnet two or more times and wait for activesync to 'unfreeze')

If I enable the ClearType option and do the following steps, the phone will hang.

1. reboot the machine
2. open the file explorer at once
3. browse the Windows folder
4. press the scroll bar and go to the last file in the Window folder quickly

UPDATE: I deleted and re-added Cingular 3G settings but nothing has changed...

BTW now Skype doesn't try to connect either... :( in fact nothing tries to connect anymore (I'm guessing it's logical after it's greyed out in Comm Manager), though 3G icon is always there but only the antenna/reception sits next to it...

I started to have to the problem with not waking up after the screen goes out today. It only seems to happen if screen has been off a while. Also yesterday, my tytn would not stay on or charge once it was on full charge on my car charger. Had to reset while plugged in and then the screen stayed on.

And yes, I did have spb pocket plus (with safe mode off) and spb diary in the today screen. So I removed all spb today pluggins and sbsh weather from the today screen and the issue with not waking up still occurred.

So I hard reset, no extra apps other than what comes on .20 except I added the cingular isp connection and exchange email push. Attachments are on sd card (att are too big to add to main mem). The only app i ran was htweakc. Well I still get the wake up problem, but not as much... Weird I still get the email notification sounds,but screen won't come back on without reset.

since i updated from the shipped 8525 ROM to XDA Live 0.1 i cannot receive a MMS with Video content. it says it gets removed by MMS adaption but if i go back to a branded Cingular ROM it works just fine. also with the XDA Live the picture i send in MMS get resized but in Cingular ROM they come in the size they got send.
Does anybody has a answer for that ?

Sounds like you have tried about everything. I have no idea if this will help but one idea would be to use a memory card reader and back up your card to your computer (this will also help in finding any corrupt files on the card) Next format the card with a utility on your *phone* (not on the computer); put it back in the memory card reader and copy all of your information back to the card.

It is a long shot, but this fix came from experience I had that was driving me nuts.
Hope that helps or let us know what you do to fix it.

I started to have to the problem with not waking up after the screen goes out today. It only seems to happen if screen has been off a while. Also yesterday, my tytn would not stay on or charge once it was on full charge on my car charger. Had to reset while plugged in and then the screen stayed on.

And yes, I did have spb pocket plus (with safe mode off) and spb diary in the today screen. So I removed all spb today pluggins and sbsh weather from the today screen and the issue with not waking up still occurred.

So I hard reset, no extra apps other than what comes on .20 except I added the cingular isp connection and exchange email push. Attachments are on sd card (att are too big to add to main mem). The only app i ran was htweakc. Well I still get the wake up problem, but not as much... Weird I still get the email notification sounds,but screen won't come back on without reset.

I'm not using v0.20 but I noticed someone wanted a way to turn on menu clicks so I presume that most of the system sounds are disabled like in 0.10

If you want them back do the following:

After i have used HtweakC to set the GPRS tweaks fo the AlwaysON, now i can't connect my phone to my EDGE and in the comm manager i don't have the possibility to enable or disable the data (button is gray). Please help me....

New MMS notifications are in the Sounds & Notifications section of Settings - just run through the drop-down on the notifications tab.

This isn't a major issue. It was just a really cool feature I liked about WM5, that isn't in WM6.

When I receive a missed call or text message, the right LED flashed orange. In this ROM, it flashes orange when you have a missed call. But not when you have a new text message or MMS message.

Just thought I'd chime in.

You can change this in

Start>Settings>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications>Event

Set New SMS & New MMS to Flash Ligh for: X minutes

Is there anyone here who can help with a wifi fix on a 8525 after a vanilla upgrade? So far ive discovered about 3 people on here that has had there wifi disabled after the vanilla upgrade. So far i have not read across a fix for it. Ive tried flashing back to the factory rom, xda live 0.10 and 0.20, 2.06 rom and still no wifi connection established, any help would be appreciated Thanx!

Well I did deactivate the Resco Today plugin from resco explorer. and until now I have not discovered the problem. It might have to do with the Windows Live Plugin and some other today screen plugins.
Tonight I will know for sure if the problem is gone.

If anyone is interested i have maneged to solve a small issue with security dialer(the one that prompts you for SIM pin) on v0.21 displaying the ugly white and grey dialer.

All you have to do is copy attached file in to Windows folder and replace the existing one.
I used Total comander to do that.

This was a prevalent problem with the earliest WM5 roms and was due to the way the OS tried to save memory and battery by stopping polling the storage card when in standby.

Those people with phone/data connection issues, it isnt the rom. There are 100's of us happily using the rom with 3g/grps connections working fine. If I couldnt get data connection after a rom upgrade, I would a) check my data connection settings, then if they were correct, b) hard reset and re enter them, c) try a customisation cab from my operator.

My Hermes with v0.20 works fine using Skype + 3G network, both for calling PC and mobile phone numbers.

I've downloaded the flasher.
Hard-resetted my Cingular 8525 to clear the PIN number for good (it was enforced on the device via EAS and I couldn't find a way to disable it even if I changed the exchange server to sync with (if anyone can point me to a better solution it would be greater appreciated)
Ran the flasher as administrator.
First "Verifying Hermes" popup passes ok.
Couple more clicks to start the flashing
click "yes" on the device to start the bootloader
at this point active sync looses the connection with the device
boot loader screen shows up on the device
"veryfying hermes" popup shows on the PC for some time
Error 260 is displayed

Is there something that I'm missing?
The bootloader on device is 1.06
the ROM is 1.34
PC OS is Windows Vista Ultimate (released version)

Simply start typing words when in pocket outlook exchange account inbox. Your device will display matching emails, similar to the search function in outlook 2007 on your desktop.

I have a problem syncing via bluetooth, I have configured everything the way it used to work on the 1st version of XDA live, but my hermes with the 2nd version activesync tries to connect on the com port, but does not recognise the activesync com port.
I have attached a very nice guide to install activesync via bluetooth.

You may try manual config according to the info provided by Singtel/M1/Starhub websites. So far my calling and 3G surfing have no problem. I'm using Singtel. For internet you just need to add a 3G connection with the access point named 'internet', the rest just leave blank will do.

Well the Resco Explorer and the Today Plugin for this application were all installed on the phone itself. Nothing installed on the storage card so that is not the reason. I have not had this problem any more after I stopped the Resco Today plugin. Now everything seems to run just perfectly.

I found a way to solve the CLICK SOUND issue.

I created with the windows sound recorder an empty Default.wav and copy it to the WINDOWS folder of the TyTN. Also I copy the original Default.wav to DefaultOrig.wav so in the sound settings I changed all sound using default.wav for this other to not loose any sound alarm.

It sounds like there have been a number of screen lockup issues, and it is getting hard to keep track of them in this thread. Maybe it is time I start a thread devoted just to screen locks??

In regards to the previous post, I have resco today and live installed and never locked up with .20.1 (I did with .10 when apps were on my card, but not after I moved them)

I bring this suggestion today to not only speed up your hermes in WM06, but might help with screen locks:
Install and run the program attached called checknotifications. Under options at the bottom, select settings, tick both boxes and ok out. Look for any SCRIPT events and note how many to post in the forum. Look for any events named NULL. Tap and hold on those events and delete. Then tap the "clear" button at the top. Should it stop at clearing '29 events of 30' (or something similar) you missed a NULL event, find it and delete it.

DISCLAIMER: If you get really stupid with this program, and start deleting notifications that are not red or that YOU think are duplicates, you can really screw things up big time. DO NOT screw with your notifications manually if you don't know what you are doing. Simply run the program and then close it. I will not post notification fixes for dummies. /DISCLAIMER

Again I don't know that this will fix your screen lock problem, but it will help WM06 run better. This is especially true if you have a lot of reminders or calendar events....

Anyway, today I couldn't 'wake up' my phone, screen remained off though orange LED was blinking... it's just on top of my completely dead data connection... :(:(:(

I think I'll give another try and if it doesn't work out, I'll revert to v0.10 or possibly even WM5.0... :o

I've read all posts and search but haven't really found anything that worked.
Only certain folder contents (not the actual folders) disappear from the SD card. easy to deal with, but I had a whole bunch of pics, vids and audio files disappear from "my docs" folder on SD card. I restored w/Sprite 2x but still nothing shows uo in folder. If restore to root directory they stay. didn't have this issue w/ver .1 or WM5.

Also certain apps folders appear empty till I pop out the SD card. Once I put it back in they reappear.

on my TyTN, I set up the "My ISP" connection using wap. cingular andNO proxy. I set up the "Work" connection using the proxy. I route MMS thru the Work settings. I can browse the internet thru either settings...

Getting my exchange mail is very important to me. My company has not yet upgraded from our exchange 5.5 server (I know...) and I have no other means of pushing mail to my phone. Does anybody have an idea of how to push mail from an exchange 5.5 server to a WM6 PPC?

After having lurked on the forums for the last couple of months learning more than I ever thought I could learn about the Hermes, I decided that I was comfortable enough and took a few steps.

1. Upgraded radio... much improvement, no problems.

2. Downgraded bootloader. Just in case, you never know :-)

3. WMXP 0.20. WOW... I JUST LOVE IT!!! Guys, I am really impressed. You pulled quite a rabbit out of your hats. :)

I used it for about a day, but I was forced to return to WM5 :( A key application I need for work (mNotes to Sync with Lotus Notes) has a serious problem using the new mail app. When you "reply" to a message (only in an mNotes replicated account), you get an empty message window and messaging freezes. It works fine for all my other accounts (IMAP and SMS) and the problem is repeatable.

I guess I'll have to wait until the problem is addressed (and sling works :p ). If anyone has seen this problem or found a work-around, you guidance would be much appreciated. So far, it seem that the problem is connected to the new HTML mail feature and some strange error on mNotes log about being unable to create a COM object. I have posted the problem in the mNotes forum, but so far no reactions.

Rom updates do that...

Either manually enter them in connections settings or find a cab file that does it for your network settings.

Thankyou for the release 0.20.1, guys. THis is great. I only have troubles receiving (downloading) MMSs, but it may be the ORANGE settings (3 or 4 different possibilities in Spain). I have an old Vodafone V1605 now superCID with boot 1.04 and radio 1,27 and ROM XDA 0.20.1

Any opportunity to get Spanish T9 capabilities and Keyboard?... in the next future?

Sorry Kyphur... already back in WM5. I did not save it as it provided no particular insights on the WM6 side. If I remember correctly, it said something like "unable to create COM object by cdzreplui.exe" (which is part of the mNotes replicator). Not even sure the error was directly connected the problem, but it was the only abnormal thing in the log and I have never seen it before.

Can someone please throw some light on this? It used to work fine on XML 0.10

OK, I just reflashed 0.20 again and indeed by default, at first boot Data and Mail are greyed out in Comm Manager (cannot be enabled).
I tested my SIM in a Universal and it's working fine with my usual Cingular settings.

I can conclude now that this combination - my retail HTC TyTn (HERM200), Cingular 3G SIM and XDA Live v0.20 - renders any possible data connection mode over cellular line dead.

I might add that WiFi kept disconnecting last night home so this ROM definitely has an issue with data connection.

Kyphur, what's the difference between the vanilla and this ROM? Your v0.10 worked fine for me and AFAIK that was based on the vanilla WM6.0, posted by a newly registered, unknown user, unlike this 0.20 which is based on a different base ROM, obtained by you, right?

PS: I'll give a try to v0.21 and if that doesn't work I'll either revert to v0.10 or apply for beta testing at Kyphur... :)

Ok, just to add my notes:

1. Voicerecorder is gone, would be nice to have it back.
2. Wifi weirdness. Works well enough, but sometimes disconnects. Once it disconnects, it loses the security settings for the connection.
3. Cyberon voice dialer. When recording a tag for Internet sharing, that same tag is applied to the HELP function. So, I say IS, and the help function opens. interesting

My case is most likely some RadioROM-related issue as WM itself has nothing to do with data communication but I can't imagine what could trigger this...

In own Hermes, as it should read own SD as Storage Card!! but now is become Storage Card2 , all of a sudden !!

Many program have now couldn't run because of that !

First...

Pop & Push Mail are not the same thing. Push Mail requires MS Exchange Server Account.

Check a couple of things:

In the settings for Pop Mail are you leaving copies on the server?

Are you downloading the full message?

I know that gMail acts funky when using Pop and this mught be similiar...

It is too early to say yet.

I'm waiting on my "Back-up" 8525 to arrive (sometime next week) so I can have one device that isn't flashed every 4 hours!

There are still some bug to work out, those numbers can still go either way.

BTW, that is a completely clean WM6 OS. Not even Mobile Office. Things that are removed from the Core OS (like Office) will be avaliable as Cab Files so you can truely pick and choose what you want.

Also, I'm going to test the theory that Mobile office in the Wizard Roms can read Office 2007 Docs and if it is true then I will use that version!

Flashed full AKU 3.3 back ("test only" 2.0.255.1/1.34.00.10) and now it is working again, exactly the same way as yours did - first greyed out (seems it's normal until you first make a successful connection) then it connects fine and Data button becomes available/switchable.

I am using exchange server which perfectly sync all my contact once I connect this phone back after upgrade. I also installed new Live messanger from optional CAB. When I try to start messanger it say it will add all contacts from my live messanger account to my address book of the phone. I afraid it will later propagate to my exchange server over pushmail connection and I will have duplicate records. Or will it be 2 separate address books, each in sync with correspondent source? Can anyone confirm my theory or have solutuon to let us use new messanger withlout adding live contacts to exchange server?

I'm using WMXL v0.2 and it works really well. Unfortunally I've some problem on the camera. Sometime when I start camera app. it says:

Error "Unable to start camera"

After a soft reset sometime the camera start but not image are shown; only green pixel (Matrix style?!?).

The only solution is to hard reset the device. Today it happen again and it's really annoying reconfigure the device every day...
Someone has got a similar problem?

i have been having this issue for the last two days, every time i upgrade to the newest rom, all my internet connection settings get deleted. i dont even have a media net setting. i was just wondering what is the best thing to do in this scenario?

As someone else said, are you sure you should be doing ROM upgrades....But anyway here is a little help for you.

I followed your suggestions and ran the program (BTW - I had to reset it this morning when taking it off the charger, and again a few minutes ago at work) and found no SCRIPT events and no NULL events. There was one red event (tmail.exe) which was cleared when I clicked the clear button. I have a total of 21 events currently. Don't know what, if anything, this means - but there you are.

It sounds like there have been a number of screen lockup issues, and it is getting hard to keep track of them in this thread. Maybe it is time I start a thread devoted just to screen locks??

In regards to the previous post, I have resco today and live installed and never locked up with .20.1 (I did with .10 when apps were on my card, but not after I moved them)

I bring this suggestion today to not only speed up your hermes in WM06, but might help with screen locks:
Install and run the program attached called checknotifications. Under options at the bottom, select settings, tick both boxes and ok out. Look for any SCRIPT events and note how many to post in the forum. Look for any events named NULL. Tap and hold on those events and delete. Then tap the "clear" button at the top. Should it stop at clearing '29 events of 30' (or something similar) you missed a NULL event, find it and delete it.

DISCLAIMER: If you get really stupid with this program, and start deleting notifications that are not red or that YOU think are duplicates, you can really screw things up big time. DO NOT screw with your notifications manually if you don't know what you are doing. Simply run the program and then close it. I will not post notification fixes for dummies. /DISCLAIMER

Again I don't know that this will fix your screen lock problem, but it will help WM06 run better. This is especially true if you have a lot of reminders or calendar events....

Trying to get Juniper's Secure Access to work with WMXL. Currently the web page stops working after login. I'm thinking it's because of this tag. I can get Juniper's Secure Access to work with the 1.35 SA HTC Rom, where the default tag is set to "Mozilla/4.0".

I have to go the way through the connections menu to activate my GPRS Link.

The exact way ist Settings-->Connections-->Manage existing Accounts
There i can connect the GPRS connection. After that i can disconnect it through the connections manager.
But for the next connect i have to crawl through the menues again.

Hi Guys my first post but I have been playing around with Wizards and Hermes for over 1.5 years now so not a noob but just never needed to post until now as search was my best friend ...... Anyway I am having the previously reported issue with receiveing a voicemail on the Orange UK network which then does not display the voicemail spool icon but instead displays a received text message alert and shows a strangely formatted text message which you can read and delete.

Is there any chance of doing anything to fix this for a future release as this is the No 1 issue I am having with the rom everything else is excellent?

Not sure if it's a Rom or Registry issue have checked the reg but nothing obvious to me (with my limited knowledge). Anyway if you guys find time to consider a fix it would be greatly appreciated.

I have installed version 0.20 and can't get MMS working. It only says "Error Syncronizing". I have installed my normal cab file with my provider settings and if I check the mms settings manually they seem to be ok. My GPRS/data connection is working fine.

I have tried to do a hard reset and test MMS with no additional applications installed but still the same problem.

Any ideas?

I am using POP mail every minutes and downloading 2kb of mail every time with messages kept on the server so that I can also get them on Outlook 2007 on my Vista desktop. To reiterate, when new POP mail comes to the Inbox, what's there disappears as though it's been read and deleted.

It's very strange because as I said, GPRS, Wifi, everything works fine.

I tried to upgrade ROM to version XDA-Live (v0.20.1). Till 75% everything went smoothly, but then it hanged. I did what was asked (remove USB, take out battery), but now when I switch it on, startup stops to the white HTC-screen.

I have also tried hard boot, but with same results.

What next ?

If you have OneNote2007 loaded on pc it should automatically ask if you want one note mobile installed..(At least it does on vista ultimate and office enterprise)

-> Sorty By
-> Manage Folders ...

It seems to me like a lot of people have to set their operators setting after the upgrade. I am a user with singapore dopod 838pro. The rom itself without the extended rom contained a network wizard software. It wil auto detect gsm and set accordingly.

After a fresh format from wm2005, no need the extended rom. You can find the cab file in windows dirctory. Something call p_network.cab. Anyone havent upgrade to crossbow. Please copy this cab file and upload here. It got australia, hong kong, indonesia, macau, malaysia, philipines, singapore, taiwan and thailand operators setting.

This app should set the mms setting as well, unfortunately, it did not do that in wm2006. At least it set the gsm correctly

Hi!Had few issues with this ROM but was silent cos' many addressed the issues already.Now,a major issue which is bothering me a lot is::

--Im using XDA Live 0.20.1 (pdf embedded)
--Radio 1.34
--I installed VC 6 and it is working fine except that it cannot be used when the phone is in sleep mode.I need to first push the power on button and then hit Messages button at the top.
--Used HTweakC to disable HSDPA and maximise battery.

Real problem :: Sometimes when I soft reset my device,it automatically goes to Flight Mode (this happens frequently these days) and then when I turn off flight mode it takes some 10 secs or more to show 3g signal.

When I end a call,it wouldnt' budge,it still gets connected.This is irritating me more day by day.Was doing international calls lately and couldnt' end the call - all I could do is power off / on the phone :(

Does this happen to anyone else?

Actually,I find smsBackup in wmxl 0.20.x
The link you provided seems to be a different program.
Probably,someone could extract smsbackup.exe from xda 0.20.x and give that to u,actually u can use SOTI manager to backup smses.

I have confirmed this is also an issue with the unmodified Base Rom. Looked at my Wizard and it also has this problem.

Might need to look at a few things in AKU 3.3 for this one...
